Hi girls! What do you think: positive OPK? I've got pretty strong ov cramps too!!

TTC Thread #2
Daffodil21 · 30/06/2020 16:53

@Poppyismyfavourite I'm doing a specific TTC one and it's very easy, which is good as I've never done it before! How are you doing????

@acaciabluebell I've never done those tests but I would get def start getting on it if you haven't already!

@SVC11 hope you get your surge soonDaffodil

OP posts:
acaciabluebell · 30/06/2020 17:09

@Daffodil21we dtd last night and will tonight and hopefully tomorrow. Will that be enough??

Bam27 · 30/06/2020 18:37

@Daffodil21 That's great! I'm glad you've found something to help you cope. I've tried meditation before, just guided one's on YouTube and always enjoyed it. Sometimes I think you just need to take a bit of time out for yourself. Never really stuck at it or done it regularly. Might give it another go and see if it helps when I'm feeling stressed. I've never tried yoga before but always been intrigued by it.
@hampshirerose34 Sorry AF is so bad for you, as if the disappointment of her arrival isn't enough! Those are the same as the ones I ordered, I think they are just on offer at the moment ☺️
@SVC11 that must be really frustrating for you. I hope it happens soon!
@acaciabluebell I've not used opk's before but the line looks almost as dark as the test line to me. As for dtd, I never do it more than every other day. Mostly because I don't want to😂 but I also read that it doesn't make a huge amount of difference whether you do it every day or every other day. I think it increases chances, but its by such a small amount.

Daffodil21 · 30/06/2020 18:56

@Bam27 I would highly recommend it! I was very skeptical to begin but I think I'll keep it up as I can definitely feel I'm more relaxed. I shut the cats out of the room when I do it and even bought myself some nice candles 😂

@acaciabluebell honestly I don't think I'm the best person to ask - 19 months later and still not successfully pregnant! I'd probably throw in another for good luck, but maybe miss the day after tomorrow and then do the day after? I'm going to just ditch the OPKs, delete my app and dtd every other day throughout my cycle. We've got into a rhythm now and DH knows it's every other day, it's actually becoming less of a chore which is odd!! I think not getting a smiley this month has actually done me a favour in a weird way

OP posts:
Bam27 · 01/07/2020 08:31

I got a flashing smiley this morning! So looks like I didn't miss the eostrogen rise after all 😁 now just to wait for lh surge and dtd as much as possible. Also proving to me that my cm tracking is actually quite accurate!
@Daffodil21 that sounds good! I often get nice candles and have a long bath. We have to look after ourselves, especially when going through the stress of ttc.

ALew15 · 01/07/2020 09:23

@Daffodil21 I'm going to have a search for some easy yoga on YouTube this morning. I started off being very active at the beginning of lockdown and have gotten so lazy now!

@Bam27 happy for your smiley! 🥰 What CD are you?
One thing I will say is don't ware yourself out too early, I had 8 days of flashing (DTD every other) and when it came to static we only managed it that day 🙄 and not the one after xx

Daffodil21 · 01/07/2020 09:40

@ALew15 I've been doing this one:

It's very easy, so you might find it too easy! I've never done yoga before so it was perfect for me. There are affirmations in it which I personally don't do, and just to warn you there is a part during in the affirmations where she says 'I love my baby' which made me wince a bit on the first go, and might make you too. I can ignore it now, but just so you know x

@Bam27 yay! Glad you caught it!!

OP posts:
Bam27 · 01/07/2020 09:44

@ALew15 I'm on cycle day 19! My cycles are super long lately! Sometimes 42 days! But they can vary from 28-42 days🙄 I knew this would be a long cycle anyway as I only just started getting ewcm. I haven't done OPKs before, but going by how long ewcm usually lasts I think I should ovulate this weekend, which would be ideal as we have much more energy on the weekend! Hope I'm right... Well that sound like a good effort to me! Keeping my fingers crossed for you 🤞
@Daffodil21 thanks, fingers crossed we dtd enough around ovulation!.. Think I might try that link too! 😊

Suemay803 · 01/07/2020 09:44

Hi everyone x how can I be added to this thread, sorry new here still trying to figure it all out

Finally got a rise on my opk this morning so will test again after work... One problem though.. Hubby went away for the next 2 days for work... What timing! We did have sex last night so is there a chance we could still hit it if I get a peak today and ovulate tomorrow? Urgh typical.

ALew15 · 01/07/2020 10:26

@Daffodil21 thanks for the link. I've just had scrambled eggs on toast so think I'll wait until that has gone down a bit before I give it a try! 😂 I think I would cringe at the affirmations too, that's a bit full on for me 😂

@SVC11 you may well be in with a chance, I read that the days leading up to peak are just as important. Sperm can live up to a few days. Fingers crossed for you x

SaraVB · 01/07/2020 11:35

@SVC11 According to my extensive google research sperm can live up to 5 days and I think there's also a small window where you could still get pregnant after ovulation too (I think it's about 24 hours).

@Bam27 Really impressed that you can track your CM so well! I gave it a go a few times but seems there's not much of it to start off with and I can't really tell too much of a difference at all!

@Daffodil21 I've always avoided yoga and meditation as I've always strongly felt that they wouldn't be something I'd enjoy (based on zero experience of them haha) but somehow starting to get tempted by everyone jumping on board!

Bam27 · 01/07/2020 11:59

@SVC11 I think your definitely still in with a chance.
@SaraVB I think it's easier because I really don't have anything for the rest of the month so it's the only time I have visible cm, and it usually last 5-7 days. For me it is very clear its ewcm as it literally looks like raw egg white. Sorry for tmi! 😂 Hopefully the OPKs will confirm I've been tracking it right! 😂

Daffodil21 · 01/07/2020 12:09

@SaraVB I was the same - every time I read about yoga etc somewhere I just finished it and thought I'd never give it a go - glad I did! I am definitely feeling more relaxed for a while - hope it works for you too!

OP posts:
SaraVB · 01/07/2020 12:33

@Daffodil21Thanks! :)

I'm quite confused where I am with my cycle this month. My apps are not aligned, the Opks I used were not digital so I'm not really sure when I ovulated (or that I definitely did). Supposed AF is due 10-12. Keeping my fingers crossed for a BFP and that I can keep my sanity this time!

ALew15 · 01/07/2020 15:07

Boobs are feeling a little bit more sore this afternoon and I had some creamy (sorry) discharge in my knicks when I get home from shopping. Haven't had that for ages. That mean anything? I am totally not symptom spotting😂 but can't help but notice a change.

SVC11 · 01/07/2020 15:50

@ALew15 where abouts are you in your cycle. Thanks everyone for being reassuring. I feel a bit better about hubby being away.

ALew15 · 01/07/2020 15:51

@SVC11 I'm about 7 or 8 DPO. I don't track CM so not sure what's normal for me.

Poppyismyfavourite · 01/07/2020 17:54

@Daffodil21 that sounds good! I used to be quite into yoga but I have long ligaments so a lot of stretching is bad for me (makes things dislocate even more easily eugh)

I'm actually feeling a bit rubbish today... backache, stomach ache (didn't know you couldn't have ibuprofen - that sucks), headache and lightheaded, been distracted all day googling random pregnancy stuff so behind on my work and grumpy about that... then feeling guilty because I wanted this so much and am incredibly lucky and thousands of women would give anything to be pregnant... which makes me a selfish and terrible person as well. Sorry I'm in a bit of a grump, can you tell!?

Daffodil21 · 01/07/2020 18:22

@Poppyismyfavourite you're not a terrible person at all! Pregnancy is shit. There, I said it. Yes, some people get lucky but a lot don't! I hope you feel better soon / rest up and don't push yourself

@SaraVB I didn't mean to type 'finished'. I don't quite know the word I was intending on using but you get the idea 😂

Plm28 · 01/07/2020 19:32

Hi everyone :) can I join? Me and my partner have finally decided it's time to start TTC I'm so excited. But also incredibly anxious as until reading on here I naively didn't realise there was so much to think about/plan with ovulation etc. I finished the pill last week, had my withdrawal bleed so will see what happens now. I've been taking folic acid. Any other advice please ladies?

SaraVB · 01/07/2020 20:04

Hi @Plm28 :) of course you can. My best advice is to try to get as much support and information as you can from these groups and use them to ask the most awkward and embarrasing questions you can't really ask elsewhere but to stop looking and researching online when you find yourself getting too stressed out and overwhelmed! You can do a lot to plan but at the end of the day it will happen when it happens and the process can tend to make everyone a little bit crazy!

It's only been about 2-3 months that we've been TTC. Started off just taking folic acid but now have moved on to using opks as well. They're not for everyone, seems like some people find them a bit stressful and they're pretty expensive. Do you have a good app that you're using to keep track of dates?

@Daffodil21 don't worry I got the idea!

I have been reading alot and getting overwhelmed! We originally planned to not prevent but not obsessively try but that's gone out the window.

I've downloaded Clue which seems quite easy to use, but I'm confused how to start tracking. Ive been on the pill for 10 years so do I start tracking on my first 'real' period?

Good luck with your journey :)
