Strong BFP?

I've tracked my cycle so I know my dates aren't off - and I took a pregnancy test the day before this too and got a bfn. So not pregnant from last month.

I felt a bit faint so took a pregnancy test 10 days before my period was due and got quite a strong BFP.

Does anyone know what this means? I know it sounds stupid, but could there be a sinister reason why there's so much HGC being picked up? Like an ectopic.

I had this once before and it was twins (that I sadly MC'd). But even then all I got was a faint bfp 8 days before my period was due.

My period is still five days away so I'm not even four weeks yet. Wished I hadn't tested tbh!

How many days past ovulation are you?

AintOverUntilTheCatLadySings · 20/05/2020 22:50

Those tests are from five days passed ovulation.

@AintOverUntilTheCatLadySings wow. That's a very strong positive at 5fpo. Do another test today if you are still feeling unsure.

Happyhappy37 · 21/05/2020 08:38

@AintOverUntilTheCatLadySings congratulations 🤗

CeibaTree · 21/05/2020 10:09

Have you been checking your BBT to know exactly when you ovulated as maybe you have ovulated a bit earlier than usual, as at 5 dpo implantation will only just have happened and it takes a couple of days for HCG to show up in your urine. Anyway whatever the case, congratulations!

FourPlasticRings · 21/05/2020 10:13

I don't know, OP, I think it varies from one pregnancy to another. My current one was stronger than that and it really freaked me out, because I was testing once a week (no idea where I was in my cycle) and it went from BFN to huge and glaringly positive in one week. I did Google it. The only reasons I found for it were a molar pregnancy and twins. Mine was neither- no problems thus far at 20 weeks in (touch wood). Sometimes it's just one of those things.

AintOverUntilTheCatLadySings · 21/05/2020 11:12

Thank you everyone. Wasn't tracking temperature, was just tracking symptoms and dates (period very regular and symptoms are always very strong).

It is probably just a molar pregnancy to be honest because I've had so many losses already.

My period is due in four days and I'm still getting very strong bfp.

They're very rare, so it's unlikely. Probably best to keep your expectations low at this stage regardless though. Expect the worst, hope for the best and all that. Good luck. x

Fredthespider · 21/05/2020 12:35

To reassure you from an ectopic perspective they usually have a low HcG level and are often slower to rise. Congratulations, I hope this is a good outcome for you!

AintOverUntilTheCatLadySings · 27/05/2020 06:24

My period is now one day late and this is the most positive pregnancy test I've ever had.

Especially for four weeks.

I'm really hoping I ovulated early this month and I'm 6 or 7 weeks because I first got a bfp 10 days ago. That would be the dream.

I keep getting dizzy spells and feeling faint. This is my 6th pregnancy (4mcs and one dd) and the only time I've fainted was with the twin pregnancy I mc'd. So suspect twins again.

I had ordered a clear blue weeks test but it hasn't arrived yet (thanks, Prime) meaning it's a bit useless now

I don't have any symptoms apart from the fainting so guessing it's another non viable twin pregnancy

@AintOverUntilTheCatLadySings You must have ovulated earlier than you think. At 5dpo the embryo has only just turned into a blastocyst and implantation hasn't begun yet so there is no HCG to pick up on a pregnancy test - have a quick google of embryo development and implantation.

And congratulations! Smile

I can understand why you’re reluctant to feel excited about the pregnancy after all your losses. Flowers I hope this works out for you!

lostfrequencies · 27/05/2020 13:19

Fingers crossed for you x

AintOverUntilTheCatLadySings · 03/06/2020 08:35

I have a scan booked in for next Tuesday when I'll be anything from 6-8 weeks, I'm guessing.

I did a clearblue test at 4 weeks and it said I was 3+, so at least 5 weeks then.

I've had no symptoms again so leaning towards this being another mmc.

I'm either 5 or 6 weeks now (probably not 6+)

I had very few symptoms at the beginning of this pregnancy. I was incredibly tired but that can be normal for me. With my first DD, I had awful nausea for the whole first trimester. Other than the odd wave, I didn’t have any nausea this time. Try not to focus on symptoms because they might not mean anything.

AintOverUntilTheCatLadySings · 04/06/2020 20:48

Thank you. I just feel like this pregnancy has ended before it's even begun. But I do really appreciate you saying that.

I’m keeping my fingers crossed for you.

CheeseSammich · 05/06/2020 03:44

With my first pregnancy I'd tested that early, without an early detection test and the line was as dark as the control! So darker than your test shows. It did turn out to be a molar pregnancy, but I was having really severe symptoms almost immediately, as though I were already 2-3 months pregnant because the hcg was abnormally high. I was also bleeding a fair amount and cramping badly. Everyone is different but your lack of symptoms is a good sign that's it's not. And as pp said it is very very rare! I hope everything works out for you xxx

CheeseSammich · 05/06/2020 03:49

You must have ovulated a bit earlier than you'd thought though because at 5dpo you shouldn't have implanted yet and therefore wouldn't have any hcg in your urine to detect xx

Fedupofitnow123 · 05/06/2020 05:52

How are you op

AintOverUntilTheCatLadySings · 06/06/2020 23:34

@Fedupofitnow123 I delayed replying because I'm in a bit of a dark place right now. I feel like the pregnancy has ended and I'm going to have another mmc. I feel stupid for even trying at this point.

My symptoms have completely disappeared now - which in itself isn't always a bad sign, but for me, has always heralded the end of a pregnancy.

This will be my 5th mc.

I'm so sorry that you've experienced so much difficulty! Flowers

Please try to negatively predict! Have you spoken with your doctor?

Bananabananapants · 07/06/2020 05:41

I meant try NOT to negatively predict. Oops!

AintOverUntilTheCatLadySings · 07/06/2020 11:43

@Bananabananapants lol! Mumsnet needs to introduce an edit button 😂

Thank you, I know you're right, but I also recognise the signs of a pregnancy ending from my previous ones. So will just have to wait until Tuesday to confirm.
