Hi all,

Following on from the previous thread of ‘testing around 13th May’. So many people messaged to say they found the group useful so I thought I’d recreate one.

Everyone is welcome and look forward to hearing everyone’s stories.

Hi @Sachertorten I'm not 100% sure about everyone else but I'm in the UK 🥰 hope you're okay! What supplements are you taking at the moment?

@Freddie15VES how awful for you 💔 so sorry to hear you're going through this. Did you use first morning urine to take the test? And how many days before AF would you be at this point? Is it worth waiting until after AF due to test again? I hope you get some answers soon 🙏🏼🙏🏼

TTCgee · 03/06/2020 06:57

@notyetamumbuttrying I'm not sure if I'm 5 or 7 days after ovulation (as both apps say something different!) but I've been getting mild cramping too and ever so slightly sore nipples. However, I feel like I've had both of these before and it's then just been AF so trying really hard not to read into it all xxx

Sussexbysea · 03/06/2020 06:57

Hi @Freddie15VES So sorry to hear this. Sometimes your body can pick up a trace of HCG and produce an early positive pregnancy test.

I know how excited you were too so I really feel for you. Maybe wait for AF due date to arrive and try again if she doesn’t arrive.xx

@TTCgee AF due today. I just don’t know how it can show positive on the digital ones so early, I even took the week indicators and it showed. Could I have lost it really early on? I don’t feel like there’s any hope

33Carr · 03/06/2020 07:25

@Freddie15VES So sorry about your negatives 😔😔 don't really have any advice but we are all virtually here for you xx

Sachertorten · 03/06/2020 08:08

@TTCgee hi! Glad you're in the Uk!! Americans were talking about so many things you can't buy OTC here like:

DHEA and Melatonin (under specialist supervision/prescription only in UK)
Mucinex - serious high grade cough decongestant, could have to chug Benylin syrup for same dosage
Pink/Blue stork fertility teas - can't buy here
Stork insemination kits - can't buy here

Seriously, the FDA is fast and loose, you can still buy hundreds of paracetamol and ibuprofen in the US, loads of meds OTC you can't get here. If I ever make it to US again I'm going to stock up at Walgreens!

For now I'm switching up fertility multivitamins each month, having extra vitamin D and some pregnenolone (just in case I don't make enough progesterone, no idea if it helps).

What about you? Xx

TheDaydreamBelievers · 03/06/2020 08:27

Hey @Sachertorten - this board is definitely largely UK and a few UK nationals living abroad.

In terms of vitamins I'm only on folic acid and vitamin D. And iron but that's unrelated to conception!

@Freddie15VES - I'm sorry to hear about what you are going through. I hope things are clarified for you over the next few days. We are here for you if you need to talk.

I sometimes think the problem with us all having the power to test regularly from home and v early is that it does raise our chances of picking up random body fluctuations or v early miscarriage, which both naturally occur quite often without anything being wrong overall. Going back even 30 years a lot of these would be experienced as just a slightly late period rather than being something we could test and worry about. I really feel for your hurt and confusion.

MrsSam88 · 03/06/2020 08:29

@Freddie15VES sorry to hear you’ve had negatives now Sad which brand tests did you take this time? Perhaps they just weren’t as sensitive? I’d retest tomorrow if af doesn’t arrive. Fingers crossed for you

Sachertorten · 03/06/2020 08:43

@TheDaydreamBelievers hooray! I feel like I am in the right place (and time zone). The What to Expect forum was largely US. I shall check these boards primarily now! Keep going with your supplements. Baby dust!!

MintGreenLife · 03/06/2020 09:06

Morning @Freddie15VES I'm so sorry to hear you are now getting negative results, that's really upsetting for you. I think the only advice I can offer is to hold on a few more days and keep testing and see if AF arrives. I know it'll be impossible, but maybe leave it a couple of days, try your best not to panic, but maybe try to get yourself into a headspace where you acknowledge there's a possibility it could still be there, but also accept that it may not be. Easier said than done I know. We are all here for you xx

MintGreenLife · 03/06/2020 09:08

I know I posted this a few days ago, but my temp is dropping daily, when it should have been rising! Anyone have any clue what might be going on here? I feel like my chart looks backwards - with a higher temp to start with and now lower after apparent ovulation 😕 Feel like I should think about counting myself out for this month as surely a dropping temperature can't be a good thing 🤔

kirinm · 03/06/2020 09:23

@MintGreenLife my only guess (and I'm not an expert) is that you haven't ovulated yet? I think you can get a peak but then not ovulated and your body may try again.

Have you been using contraception until now? Or do you have long cycles? That could explain it.

MintGreenLife · 03/06/2020 09:33

Thanks for your reply @kirinm ☺️

Yep this is my second cycle off the pill. First one lasted 30 days - got withdrawal bleed a few days after stopping and then AF came 30 days later. I've literally just stopped testing everyday with OPKs as assumed I'd caught my peak and am now in the TWW but maybe I should carry on. Everything about this cycle has been confusing as I got EWCM 8 days before I got my OPK peak but only for one day! I guess we should keep up DTD everyother day just in case then. Kinda frustrating but then I do appreciate it can take a while to get back into a regular cycle x

Freddie15VES · 03/06/2020 09:34

Thanks everyone. I’m just so confused. Why did the first ones show positive? I don’t understand what’s happening. Can HCG levels still be really low this early on?

kirinm · 03/06/2020 09:39

I've never taken the pill (it's is contraindicated for medication I take) but I have read lots of posts from people who have come off the pill and it has taken some time for them to properly regulate. I think the body can basically gear up to ovulate but for whatever reason it doesn't happen and it may try again. There is also the possibility of you not ovulating this cycle at all but there's nothing in your chart yet to say that has happened.

Probably worth doing OPKs if you have them. Good luck.

I have tried doing OPKs this month as I'm worried I'm not ovulating - I'm quite old - but I'm struggling to do them at the same time everyday and charting my temp is impossible as my DD's sleep is shit so I don't think I ever get the restful sleep you need to get a realistic reading.

TTCgee · 03/06/2020 10:58

@MintGreenLife hmmm not sure why your temps are going down but as you've said your body may well just be adjusting to coming off the pill this month? Or maybe you're just getting into a routine of taking it the right way... I think after a couple of months you should have a better pattern xxx

@Freddie15VES sending you virtual hugs. I don't know enough about HCG levels to know. I have heard about people taking until week 6-8 to show as pregnant however I'm not sure I've heard of getting a positive then a negative? Thoughts are with you 💕💕💕

TTCgee · 03/06/2020 11:00

@Sachertorten oh wow! They really don't have the same restrictions as us do they!

So things I've heard that are good are:

Everyday:

Vitamin C
folic acid

From period to ovulation:

Evening primrose oil
Grapefruit juice

From ovulation to AF (or hopefully pregnancy):

3 x Brazil nuts
Pineapple core

God knows if any of this actually works but this is what I've been trying anyway xxx

MintGreenLife · 03/06/2020 11:04

@kirinm thanks for the info ☺️ I'll just keep doing OPKs and hopefully I'll be able to figure out what's going on. This is only our first month TTC anyway so didn't have high hopes. Not going to stress as maybe it'll just take me a few cycles to get back on track.

Sorry to hear you're struggling with OPKs, temping sounds like a no-go for you then. I'm struggling to pin down a time to do mine as I usually get up to wee once or twice in the night, let the dog out at some point and also OH gets up earlier than me, so my sleep is generally disturbed every few hours. Maybe tracking BBT isn't for me either! I'll keep trying for now.

How long have you been using OPKs for? Have you detected an increase in LH levels at all yet? TBH I know you're meant to try and do them at the same time and ideally I'm the afternoon, which I was doing, but the day I got my peak result was at 11am because I wasn't going to be out in the afternoon, and if I hadn't done that I would have missed it xx

MintGreenLife · 03/06/2020 11:08

Thanks for replying again @TTCgee promise this is the last time I share my nonsense BBT chart and ask what's going on 🙈

You're probably right - I won't take it for gospel. I think for now I'll keep using OPKs once a day to be on the safe side, keep on with tracking BBT and see if I can get a better pattern over a few months. I'm going to assume I'm still in the TWW, but will also keep an eye on things just in case I didn't ovulate and may do later on. I'm surprising myself as I'm feeling pretty chilled - I'm usually a huge over thinker and get super stressed when I can't workout what's going on or stick to a plan 😂 Which is probably a good thing as totally get TTC is something you can't control, just try your best with xx

Freddie15VES · 03/06/2020 11:35

I’ve just taken a different one. Just to wind myself up more. I just don’t know what’s going on 😭

Em1991 · 03/06/2020 11:38

@Freddie15VES so sorry to hear you are going through this. When did you first get BFP? This happened to me last month, it was a chemical pregnancy, so you have enough hormone to get an early positive but then the egg doesn't properly implant and you end up getting a period, sometimes a bit late. I got BFP 2 days before me period was due last month, on a digital as well, but was getting cramps and not feeling right so I took another test the day after AF was due and it was negative. AF then arrived the next day. It's early pregnancy loss, before 5 weeks I think they say chemical pregnancy. I'm not saying this is what is happening to you, just hopefully this info will help. I would wait and see if AF arrives like the other girls have said. If it does turn out to be chemical pregnancy I'm so sorry, I was really heartbroken but did a lot of googling and it actually helped, knowing that you can get pregnant because an egg was fertilised, and knowing how common it is! Like has been said, if we didn't test so early we wouldn't even know this had happened, so it happens a lot but people just think they're period is a little late.

MintGreenLife · 03/06/2020 11:50

@TTCgee @kirinm I've just done an OPK as OH is out from now until late and I appear to be having another surge! Not as high as last time and not a positive so will test again this afternoon. Kicking myself for not testing yesyday now. Also OH doesn't have time before he goes out and says it might be really late when he gets back 🙄

MintGreenLife · 03/06/2020 11:51

@Freddie15VES so sorry you are still getting negatives. Think like @Em1991 has said it could be a chemical. Maybe wait a few days to see if AF arrives and if not test again? Really feel for you xx

Sachertorten · 03/06/2020 11:57

@TTCgee Gah, pineapple! Ate so much pineapple after ovulation for 4 days straight I lost my sense of taste, mouth sore and heartburn. Haha

lucymagoo · 03/06/2020 12:22

AF has arrived ☹️ a few days early too. Guess I'm out for this month. Pretty gutted as we DTD every day over the fertile period and thought we were in with a shot
