Hi all,

Following on from the previous thread of ‘testing around 13th May’. So many people messaged to say they found the group useful so I thought I’d recreate one.

Everyone is welcome and look forward to hearing everyone’s stories.

Oh course, never heard it abbreviated before @SmileyT that makes sense though, never thought about testing earlier depending on luteal phase length. This is the first cycle I've tracked, and my last cycle (and first cycle off the pill) was 30 days, and then I ovulated on CD20 this month, so I'm hoping that my cycle will be longer, rather than having a 10 day LP! Oh gosh totally. I'm having a couple on the weekend before ovulation and then stopping after ☺️ Think in the current situation where we are stuck in so much it would be impossible to go cold turkey 😂

notyetamumbuttrying · 01/06/2020 21:07

Can you post a pic of it @Amnah26? You can get positives as early as 8dpo so it's not unheard of!

MintGreenLife · 01/06/2020 21:07

How many DPO are you @Amnah26?? Someone on here a few days ago had a positive 8 DPO ☺️ X

SmileyT · 01/06/2020 21:19

@MintGreenLife Mumsnet is all about the shortening of words 😂 but yeah your Luteal Phase (in general) stays the same every month it's just your ovulation date that moves so it's a good way to track for me, most people have implanted by 9dpo so by 11dpo in theory there should be a line if there will be one 🤞

@Amnah26 ooh that's exciting, hope it's a nice clear line in a couple days for you, if the line has colour and came up within the timeframe I think false positives are rare (although people say that with blue dye tests it can be harder to tell the difference between an evap and line) 🤞 all the action over fertile week paid off xx

MintGreenLife · 01/06/2020 21:24

@SmileyT hmm maybe I'll join you and test on the 11th too then, will be nice to have someone to test on the same day with! Think I'm going to be pretty anxious as is my first time testing eek

TTCgee · 01/06/2020 21:31

@SmileyT - nothing anyone does while TTC could be seen as being a loser to me anymore hahaa! I've literally tried everything. Honestly someone could tell me if I set an alarm for 3am every morning and do 12 star jumps and meow like a cat I'd probably try it 😂😂😂

@Amnah26 that sounds exciting! Do you have a picture of your test? Yesss I've defo heard of people getting positives as early as that so fingers crossed you get a clearer line as your HCG builds up! Xxx

WishingWell20 · 01/06/2020 22:29

@SmileyT ha yes that’s so true!😂

@Ammah26 ooh how exciting, fingers crossed for you!!

SmileyT · 01/06/2020 22:34

@TTCgee that actually made me lol, but I'm with you if I could guarantee a pregnancy this month there isn't much I wouldn't do 🙈

@MintGreenLife yes test with me, at the age of 31 I had my first ever BFN last month and it wasn't half as bad as I'd imagined (probably because I was pretty certain I wasn't preggers) I'll keep you company in your first TWW, always think the first week is okay because you know you can't really get symptoms before 6days and then we'll all go a little mental 🤪

MintGreenLife · 01/06/2020 22:40

@SmileyT I'm 31 also 😀 I've had a couple of BFN in my life - I think I've only ever taken two pregnancy tests when I totally knew I wasn't pregnant but was feeling especially tired etc and thought I best check 🙈

Haha oh god I'm already refreshing the conception thread page here every 30 mins and googling every tiny little worry or query I have re TTC, going to be next level come next week 😂

I'm a bit worried I haven't entirely pinpointed my ovulation this cycle so not getting my hopes up. Is this your second cycle TTC then? X

SmileyT · 01/06/2020 23:12

@MintGreenLife the only advice I would give is to try and stay as calm as possible, remember that it's just as likely to happen for you as somebody thats been trying longer and I've lined up an AF treat for myself every cycle we've been trying so I have something to look forward to even if it's not my month. And my 2nd full cycle TTC after a MC in March (that pregnancy was completely unplanned but very wanted) and now I'm bloody desperate to conceive so throwing everything apart from the kitchen sink at it 🙈

And yeah it's completely normal, I must've googled cervical position after ovulation if I've conceived about 20 times as if the answers will change 😂

TTCgee · 02/06/2020 08:32

@MintGreenLife @SmileyT it's always reassuring knowing you're not the only one googling like crazy isn't it! I agree with Smiley - it's best to try and stay calm even though at some points it feels a bit impossible!

@SmileyT love your idea of having a treat lined up when AF is due! Going to suggest that to my OH as it will make it a much easier thing to deal with! I'm exactly the same with cervical position lol! I actually read through an old mums net thread from 2008 where one woman got her BFP even with a low and hard cervix so now I'm still clutching onto a bit of hope even though almost everything out there says it should be high still 🙈 xx

Sussexbysea · 02/06/2020 08:57

I have an urge to test today but I’m only 8 DPO. I’m going to hold out till Sunday and give it a go. Anyone else thinking of testing then?

OP posts:
WishingWell20 · 02/06/2020 09:12

@Sussexbysea I’m 7 dpo and aiming to test at the weekend too, just hope I can hold off until then. The urge is crazy isn’t it!?😩

MintGreenLife · 02/06/2020 09:17

@SmileyT you're totally right - I never thought of it that way before. I think because my temps are going down instead of up I'm not convinced I ovulated, but I did one at 6am this morn after solid sleep and that was much lower, whereas on other days it's been more like 8am after waking up several times and going back to sleep. I'll be consistent next cycle so that I actually get a good picture of what's happening!

Ohh what kind of treats do you have lined up? Such a good idea.

@TTCgee thanks for the tips ☺️ At the moment I feel like I will stay quite calm as I'm not particularly hopeful if I'm honest. How are you today? X

SmileyT · 02/06/2020 09:37

@MintGreenLife if you use different times you should add 0.2 for every hour earlier you temp, for example if you temp at 6 rather than 8am then add 0.2 for a more accurate reading, it's not bang on but might give you an idea if it's in line. And I'm thinking of getting an Ava it temps for you and tells you when you ovulate by wearing a watch in bed I think but it's super expensive so should probably do more research before I purchase 😂

@TTCgee well I've read that cervix position is the least accurate way to asses things, our bodies are super positive and assume we are pregnant until you are between 6-12dpo so cervix moves the same at the time I think and then once pregnancy starts at implantation it then moves higher (based on loads of googling but no idea if this is true) but makes me feel more hopeful as I feel like my cervix drops a bit straight after ovulation x

Good luck to those testing this week 🤞

lucymagoo · 02/06/2020 09:40

@Sussexbysea I had the 8dpo urge to test this morning too. Had to get my FMU done and out the way so I couldn't

MintGreenLife · 02/06/2020 09:48

@SmileyT ohh thanks for the tip. I've just updated my temp from this morning and it's still down on the previous days. In fact it's my lowest temp yet 😩 No idea what's going on.

Ohh I've ended up on the Ava website a few times because of googling about ovulation etc 😂 I think I actually read on there that some women don't get their temp increase until several days after ovulation, but I'm 3DPO now and it's still going down 🤷🏻‍♀️

Spotted you and @TTCgee are discussing cervical position! At the mo mine is still high and feels slightly open, but feels fairly hard, so also no clue what's going on there either 😂 But what you explained is helpful re when it actually starts to move! We are stillborn DTD everyother day just in case I haven't actually ovulated yet, so at least we are covering all basis! X

TTCgee · 02/06/2020 12:57

@SmileyT to be honest I might stop checking as it just makes me depressed if I decide it's low down! Thanks for the info tho I didn't realise it could fluctuate throughout the day!

@MintGreenLife I feel good today actually. I've pretty much counted myself out this time but knowing I'll have the blood work next month so I know if I'm actually ovulating is helping me to stay a bit calmer this TWW. I guess I'm thinking even if AF arrives at least it will be the start of me getting answers!

Weirdly tho I do feel quite sick today. Rationally I know it can't be anything because if I did even ovulate I'm no where near far enough to be getting nauseous from it but you can't help but symptom spot sometimes can you 🙈

TTCgee · 02/06/2020 12:57

@MintGreenLife pressed send too early! How are you feeling? Xx

TheDaydreamBelievers · 02/06/2020 15:29

I think I'm likely out this month - getting brown discharge so probably start of AF. Fine with that tbh as it would be first period since stopping pill

kirinm · 02/06/2020 15:41

I definitely do not think I am pregnant. I think I actually ovulated yesterday or maybe the day before. Anyway just out of boredom / sheer curiosity I did a cheapie test to see whether a shadow of a line comes up like I saw last month. If absolutely does! There is no way I can be pregnant yet but can you see the very hint of a line? If this was 10 days in the future I'd honestly be thinking I was going to get a line. These tests are awful.

Testing around 11th June
MintGreenLife · 02/06/2020 16:01

@TTCgee I'm only 3DPO and I'm already like 'why do I feel dizzy', 'why am I tried', 'why am I so hungry' 😂 I told myself I wouldn't do that as a book I read said it was highly unlikely to get any symptoms in the first 14 days after conception, and yet here I am...

I'm feeling pretty good today, despite the fact that my temps are dropping which makes me think I didn't ovulate, I'm not feeling too concerned, probably because this is our first cycle and I guess I feel like I shouldn't expect much. Hopw you've had a good day :) x

MintGreenLife · 02/06/2020 16:02

Sorry to hear about AF @TheDaydreamBelievers - I know we spoke about it more on another thread, and like you say I'm sure you're relieved in a way to actually have a period after so long. Hope this next cycle gets you back on track a bit quicker xx

TTCgee · 02/06/2020 16:27

@TheDaydreamBelievers sorry to hear that! Could it possibly be an implantation bleed? If not it's good to know your cycle is kicking back in xxx

@MintGreenLife aw thank you! You too 🥰 honestly I was the exact same the first month I tried properly! I was completely convinced I was pregnant and for the next 2 months too! Each time I got different symptoms and thought OMG I didn't get this last time so this must be it 🙈This time I'm the opposite way as I feel like I'm just used to not being and anything I feel I just think it wasn't last time so I'm not getting my hopes up! It's hard though! But with it being your first cycle I imagine it's exciting as well as very nerve wracking! I'll keep everything crossed you get lucky in your first month 🥰

@kirinm I think it would be a little early yet but like you say you can test nearer to your AF date and will get a clearer picture xxx

kirinm · 02/06/2020 16:32

Haha I'm not suggesting I'm pregnant 😂. I've had two kids and 6 pregnancies and know I'm definitely not pregnant yet! I was posting it to show how awful the tests are because they show shadows of lines. I was really hopeful last month because I saw a shadow but turns out they always show a shadow. They are the one step strips from amazon. Don't use them!
