I 100% know this is not a form of contraception, I’m just wondering how likely it would be?

The other night DP and I used this method for the first time, we usually use condoms. It wouldn’t be the end of the world if I was pregnant, we have a 2 year old DS but the timing is quite bad with everything going on in the world, financial strain from being self employed etc and it just makes me nervous to imagine a pregnancy at this uneasy time.

Of course this is the month I didn’t track periods (lockdown has sent my organisation skills crazy) but from figuring out a rough date from memory I think we had unprotected sex during my fertile days and I believe I’m due on any time from now or the next couple of days. I’m having no AF symptoms and I feel oddly like I’m pregnant but not sure if it’s just in my head due to the circumstance. I have ordered pregnancy tests to arrive tomorrow from amazon (hoping it’s not too early to test). I will update on the results but I’d love to hear about others experience?

Yep. Nearly 17 now.

Carolebaskinssardineoil · 09/05/2020 19:02

Yep - due early Dec. It’s a third baby for us, not ideal timing but we wanted another eventually. If we had been totally done there’s no way we would have been so risky

Hemlock2013 · 09/05/2020 19:04

Yup, twice. 🤦🏼‍♀️

spatchcock · 09/05/2020 19:04

Fingers crossed for you OP.

We used this method for about eight years, and had two (planned) children during that time.

overthi5 · 09/05/2020 19:05

Loads of people will have because it isn't a method of contraception

DustyMaiden · 09/05/2020 19:05

Most of the people that have tried it.

shittingmysel · 09/05/2020 19:06

Yep currently 38 weeks. I'd say it doesn't work.

Sleepingboy · 09/05/2020 19:31

Literally MILLIONS of people.... 🙄🙄

WreckTangle95 · 09/05/2020 19:35

Yes, it happened to me. I really didn't think it would either as it was just a one off. I see now how naive I was!

MiteBite · 09/05/2020 19:36

Yes this happened to me.

Elouera · 09/05/2020 19:36

Cousin had 2 kids that way, but had use the 'method' for a few years beforehand.

The only time we didn't have condoms and used it, I got the morning after pill the next day to be sure.

Billy Connoly,s mum.

lizzyttc2017 · 09/05/2020 19:53

Looks like it’s pretty common then! 😅 oops! As I said it wouldn’t be the worst thing, we wanted a second child at some point it’s more just the timing that makes me feel uneasy. We would deffo not have used this ‘method’ if we were super against falling pregnant. I shall see what the tests say tomorrow or Monday!

Yup.Currently sitting next to me is my youngest who's 11.He was child number 4.

My DH had the snip whilst I was pregnant with the youngest.

oldtownroad · 09/05/2020 20:23

I got pregnant on the pill with DS1. Was 100% taking it correctly. Used the pull out method for 4 years afterwards as we wanted more anyway so we would have been happy with a surprise. Then got pregnant first time 'trying' for DC2 so I'd say it does work to some extent.

grumpyorange · 09/05/2020 20:34

I used this 'method' for 3 years and didn't get pregnant. Our first months trying we got pregnant. So it's not guaranteed

passthemustard · 09/05/2020 21:12

Used it successfully for 3 years until we got drunk and forgot. She's just turned 8.

Rosieredapples · 09/05/2020 21:43

Yes, nearly 14 now, to be fair I was going to start trying to conceive four months later anyway it just happened sooner than anticipated. Several friends have experienced the same.

gdrcclmn · 09/05/2020 21:44

Nope. Been pregnant twice, one DD. Conceived first time of not pulling out.

JorisBonson · 09/05/2020 21:47

My gran, the devout Catholic, has 12 kids for this reason.

It's no form of contraception.

Yelllow · 09/05/2020 21:49

Yup, he's 7 now 😝

And my "you can't get pregnant while having sex on your period baby" is 6.

Finally, my "you can't get pregnant one week after having your IUD removed baby" is almost 3.

Luckily we were happily married and we were both ok with having babies but my husband totally missed out on the fun of "trying" to get pregnant & months of lots of sex lol..

nahnonever · 09/05/2020 22:11

Yep she's nearly 4 now

CuppaZa · 09/05/2020 22:19

Nope.

Clemmieandareallybigbunfight · 09/05/2020 22:39

EVERYBODY gets pregnant using this method Grin
You might as well just enjoy yourselves

yellowmelon · 09/05/2020 22:43

We didn't get pregnant when using it for 10 years. Then we decided to ttc - pregnant first time.
