Short cycle girls

I can't seem to see a thread for this so thought I'd start one. Any other girls with cycles shorter than 28 days please join and let's discuss! Mine fluctuates from 24 to 26 days, I usually ovulate day 10 on a 24 day cycle and yet to track when I ov on a 26 cycle but I would imagine it's day 12. I have a normal LP of 14 days but would love to have a longer follicular phase. 8 months of trying. I'm 34, husband is 37.

Hi!
I’m 28 and DH is 30, currently on cycle #9 for first baby. My cycle is usually 24-25 days usually ovulating on day 13. I’ve been trying Agnus Castus this month to try and lengthen my LP. I’m ovulating CD15 which is late for me so I hope my LP follows suit.
I suppose the good thing about having shorter cycles is that we have more chances of TTC per year!

notyetamumbuttrying · 03/05/2020 11:04

Hi Nat,
It's good you ovulate after day 11, that's in the normal range! I've ordered some of those tablets as well as hoping it will help me to ovulate a little later. Yes, defo the only good thing about short cycles, as I get quite bad pms!

Hi ladies, I've got 2 children, ttc #3. Had a miscarriage at 11 weeks 3 weeks ago now so back to ttc. My cycles have always been 28 days max but anywhere between 21 and 25. I started ttc Oct 19 with no luck. Then January I started taking vitamin b complex from Holland and Barrat. I had seen on here somewhere that it is meant to help regulate/ lengthen short cycles. It worked for me. I had one cycle of 29 then the next one found out I was pregnant. It might have been coincidental but I will be taking it again as soon as ive had my first period.

LuluFireray · 22/05/2020 22:04

Mine are around 26 days and I tend to ovulate around CD10-12. I'm on cycle number 6 since coming off the pill. I can't remember if my cycles were this short before I went on the pill but either way I'm rolling with it!

Annabel19 · 22/05/2020 22:13

Hi again @notyetamumbuttrying. Thanks for sharing this thread. So how have you been getting on?

notyetamumbuttrying · 22/05/2020 22:20

So sorry for not replying before @MrsTtobe! Been chatting to you on another thread, thanks for the vit b tip.
Hi @LuluFireray I'm hoping mine go to 26 days again. Been taking agnus castus and will stop once I ov. Due to ov on Tuesday so will see if it's later and report in. I was initially worried about it because before day 11 it's classed as an immature egg and they don't fertilise well (or so I read), but since being on here a few weeks, many women have still conceived whilst ovulating early!
Hi @Annabel19 ok I guess. Onto cycle 9 now and was getting frustrated that I even rang the docs but it's too early for tests yet even though I'm 34. Hopefully it happens in next 3 months and I don't have to go bk! How are you getting on?

MimiArm · 22/05/2020 23:54

Hey, me too :-) I'm 38 (almost 39), TTC baby 1 and on cycle 6. My cycles are 26 days long and I usually ovulate day 17.

I tried acupuncture before lockdown and went 3 times in one month / that month my cycle was 31 days - coincidence or not.

Had bloods done on CD3 of this month by GP and awaiting results. Though I did do a private home blood test last month which covered the same tests and found that I have low Estrogen levels. GP is also taking more bloods on CD21 to check that I'm definitely ovulating.

I've therefore so far concluded (in my non medical expert opinion haha) that I have low Estrogen and a short luteal phase. Great!

notyetamumbuttrying · 23/05/2020 00:03

Hi @MimiArm how much was the private blood test if you don't mind me asking? I'm tempted to get one done as docs won't see me yet as not at the year mark. Have you been prescribed anything for your low oestrogen? You can take agnus castus for your short LP. I'm taking it for my short FP. Will see next week if it's made any difference or not!

Hi @notyetamumbuttrying

The test I bought was just over £100 from memory - I bought two, the CD3 one and the day 21 one and it was about £190 for both from LetsGetChecked online.

The CD3 checks four things - pic of my results below to show what it tests for.

When the nurse from the company I bought from rang with results, she said for me to call my GP. I was a bit embarrassed given the current crisis but my GP was so helpful and willing to start tests ASAP. She said she would need to re-do as she can't act on results that aren't through GP. Nothing offered yet as only got bloods done this week through GP so I'm patiently waiting for those results to come in to see what she says.

Thanks for the tip re the tablets. I must have a look as I've seen them mentioned on here quite a lot.

notyetamumbuttrying · 23/05/2020 00:30

Thanks @MimiArm it's good they're seeing to you straight away. I guess cos you've been trying 6 months and you're over 35, you're in the right category to be seen to. I hope everything works out for you. That's interesting that they wanted to do the bloods again, I suppose I should just wait then and be patient. Hoping to catch in next 3 months really! I hope the results come back quickly and you get a good outcome! Feel free to keep us posted, best of luck Smile

Hi again @notyetamumbuttrying. I’m on cycle 7. I’m 37 yet my doctor refuses tests until we’ve been trying a year.. this is despite me having had a chemical pregnancy last month. My doctor previously diagnosed an underactive thyroid .. this medication has taken my cycle from 21 to 25 days. Do you know anything about short follicular phase? Fingers crossed for you xxx Hi @MimiArm. Hope you don’t mind me asking .. was your doctor open to testing or did you have to persuade them? Xxx

Nat4392 · 23/05/2020 09:14

Hi again 😊 I’m now on cycle #10 CD8 and entering my fertile week. I’m hoping I can go to GP after 12 cycles (which for all of us is not 12 months!)
Agnus Castus did extend my cycle last month though (only FP not LP unfortunately) so I’m trying it again this month.
Fingers crossed for everyone this month x

MimiArm · 23/05/2020 10:43

@Annabel19 Hello :-) To be honest, I didn't even ask GP to take bloods. I just rang for her advice about my results. She then said that I did the correct tests but she can't trust their results since she doesn't know which lab they were tested in and it needs to be an NHS lab for her to act on the results.

She then asked me to come in to the surgery and said all the tests she would like to do. She also then said about bringing in OH for him to get tests ran also.

All in all, she has been very proactive in my opinion!

If I were you, I'd be changing your GP.

MimiArm · 23/05/2020 10:46

@notyetamumbuttrying Thank you. I will keep you posted and report back once I get results and hear from GP again. Fingers crossed for us all!

Annabel19 · 23/05/2020 10:49

Hi again @MimiArm yep, I’m thinking the same thing about changing GP’s. Waiting a year when I’m 37 goes against everything I’ve read. I’m also going to try the Agnus Castus if I’m not pregnant next month. I feel like so few women have these short cycles!

notyetamumbuttrying · 23/05/2020 11:36

@Annabel19 all I know about short follicular phase is that you ovulate early which means you released an immature egg. Those don't tend to fertilise well but then I've now heard from a lot of women who still get pregnant with early ovulation so I'm certainly gonna worry less now. I'll let you know what the Angus castus does though. It lightened my flow the last three days and also I took less painkillers day 2 so that was a bonus!

OP posts:
MimiArm · 23/05/2020 11:37

@Annabel19 I agree 100% - it's clear from everywhere that at 37, you should easily be able to get the blood tests so your current GP is just wasting precious time In my opinion.

The only good thing about short cycles is less time to wait for the disappointment and quicker to get to next month to try again!

LuluFireray · 23/05/2020 11:44

If you want to order a test from let's get checked I got an email today saying to use code OVIA40 for 40% off

Nat4392 · 23/05/2020 12:12

I think I might order a progesterone test, does anyone know if taking Agnus Castus will affect the result? Is it classed as a hormonal medication? Should I maybe do the test next cycle when I’ve not taken any or will it be ok to do this cycle?

notyetamumbuttrying · 23/05/2020 13:59

Hi @Nat4392 I see you asked the same on another thread but it'll be good to keep each other updated on here as so few of us and easier to catch msgs. I think we're quite similar in timings and cycle but you're one cycle in front. Praying we both get out bfp's before the year mark!
Everything crossed for everyone!

Nat4392 · 23/05/2020 14:17

It gets confusing being on multiple threads and forget who you’ve spoken to about stuff so I tend to ask the same questions everywhere 🙈 I’ve decided against it now I think. I’m on cycle 10 so I’d be able to see GP at cycle 12 (hopefully) and get it for free. Fingers crossed I won’t need to get the that point anyway!

notyetamumbuttrying · 23/05/2020 15:26

Yeah defo @Nat4392 when are you due to ovulate next? I'm gonna wait it out as well.

OP posts:
Nat4392 · 23/05/2020 15:46

@notyetamumbuttrying I’m CD8 now and usually ovulate CD13 but last month it was CD15 after taking Agnus Castus so I’ll keep track with OPKs. What about you?

notyetamumbuttrying · 23/05/2020 16:10

I'm cd7 and usually ovulate on 10. Be interesting to see what the Angus does for me. I'll start with opk's on day 9 and keep ya posted!

OP posts:
notyetamumbuttrying · 25/05/2020 08:52

Morning just wanted to share that I didn't get a smiley on my cb today so the Angus is working in delaying ovulation! Just a bit concerned I won't get it at all now lol! I heard you should stop when you ov but I'm wondering if I should stop now just in case it doesn't come at all?! Ah minefield! Any advice @Nat4392?
