Any buddies trying SMEP for the first time this cycle?

Hello all!

I am 26, and trying for my first baby. I'm currently on CD4 of Cycle 3. After two cycles of only DTD a few times in fertile window and no result, DH and I are going to give the Sperm Meets Egg Plan a go this cycle.

For those who don't know, the plan goes like this:

-> From CD 8 DTD every other day until a positive OPK.

-> Start testing with OPKs daily from CD 10 (but I will be using earlier as O'd on CD11 last month!)

-> From positive OPK DTD on the day of the + OPK and two days after, then miss a day and DTD again the next day.

We will also be using pre-seed for the first time this month.

Is there anybody else who is doing SMEP this month? Or anybody who has tried it before successfully or unsuccessfully?

After the disappointment of AF arriving early, I'm excited to start a new cycle.

@kittenpeak thanks for sharing! Lovely to have some good news stories to keep us all motivated. And congratulations!

Dizzttc · 04/07/2020 18:29

I watched this documentary on YouTube earlier called the great sperm race. Was really informative also explains a little why sex every 2nd or 3rd day is better than every day as you get a better quality sperm.

Documentary is a little old but is well worth watching.

kittenpeak · 04/07/2020 18:56

Yes the great sperm race is a good one to watch and I definitely recommend! I honestly didn't see how it would work if you have sex me, but ladies do give it a go! Anyone who has a longer cycle might need to convince their partner(!) Thanks for the good wishes @Seafrontsky I'm well aware things could go wrong, so just lying low for a few weeks.

Good luck to everyone. This is a great network if you want to talk to people without speaking to close friends as the trying and early days can be very tough

serialplanner · 04/07/2020 19:54

@kittenpeak congratulations!

serialplanner · 04/07/2020 19:56

@SmileyT and @Hoping41 you guys are so close now. How are you feeling?

Jilly1988 · 04/07/2020 20:09

Thanks for sharing @kittenpeak and congrats.

I am 1 DPO. Ovulated on CD15. We BD on CD9, 11, 13, 14, 15, 16. Should we skip tomorrow and BD again? I never haven’t done that day as I always can tell I ovulated. Also how many days do you eat pineapple?

SmileyT · 04/07/2020 20:19

Congrats on finding something that worked for you @kittenpeak

How are you feeling @Seafrontsky and @Hoping41 ??

@serialplanner has it all sunk in yet? Did you tell your bestie? I'm feeling okay, still not 💯 I ovulated this month because of my temps but feeling positive in general 🙂 standardly no symptoms at all, although I've had a stitch like feeling around my right ovary so wondering if maybe I'm still to ovulate 🤔

@Jilly1988 we normally do the final BD although this month we did miss the 3rd in a row because we had already done 4 in a row and temps hadn't gone up so thought we might have to do it again so needed a break 😂

kittenpeak · 04/07/2020 20:20

@Jilly1988 thank you @Jilly1988 thank you! So does that mean today is day 16? If you ovulated yesterday, and have BD today (day 16) then I would BD tomorrow too and you may or may. It want to BD day after tomorrow too (incase ovulation sticks are a bit out). I never tried pineapple! Is that meant to be good? Best of luck x

Fran2020 · 04/07/2020 21:05

@Dizzttc Thanks for sharing that link! I found it so interesting! It's crazy how women can actually get pregnant after watching that!

Hoping41 · 04/07/2020 21:58

@serialplanner and @smileyt I'm doing ok. Just waiting. The seeds have worked wonders this month so I don't even really have anything to Google!! I think today is 7dpo so a long time to go yet. We're still waiting for the hospital to contact my OH. Interestingly, after last month's optimism, I feel this is definitely not our month and it's letting me remain calm. My OH has worked every day since lockdown started and he's exhausted so we're definitely not dtd often enough to be feeling like we gave it our best shot.
Smileyt, no sign of a late ov for you?
serialplanner, how are you feeling today?

SmileyT · 04/07/2020 22:18

@Hoping41 well my temps have been higher than first half but very erratic but like you not feeling that optimistic which is making me feel strangely calm, I have a feeling August will be my month so just waiting for AF. My apps are predicting between 7-10dpo now but who knows x

Hoping41 · 05/07/2020 06:11

@smileyt wow, imagine if August was your month after all, how weird would that be! Here's to a calm month for us both!!

VenusStarr · 05/07/2020 20:58

@SmileyT @Hoping41 I'm hopeful that August will be my month too 🍀 it's nice to feel optimistic after months of feeling like it won't ever happen. It'll be lovely if we all get good news x

Jilly1988 · 06/07/2020 07:43

I seem to be having the same problem with temperature. 3 dpo today and still not a proper rise. I also had very light spotting last night which is very strange. Starting to not feel positive for this month. I had positive opk’s, the dip in temperature and very obvious ovulation twinges on Friday.

Any buddies trying SMEP for the first time this cycle?
serialplanner · 06/07/2020 07:51

@SmileyT and @Hoping41 fingers crossed for both of you!🤞🏽🤞🏽🤞🏽

No symptoms is no bad thing🤞🏽

Xxx

Seafrontsky · 06/07/2020 12:49

Thanks for sharing that video @Dizzttc, I've had to watch it in snippets but it was so interesting

Hoping41 · 06/07/2020 14:12

Yes, @dizzttc I sent a link to my oh too, I think it's maybe Male friendly - sure he'll tell me if it's not - and it really drives home the importance of time and the difficult nature of it!
I'm now 9dpo and entering into my low week where everything seems impossible. Having too much free time is really bad at this time in the cycle!!

serialplanner · 06/07/2020 14:31

@Hoping41 try and keep busy! Make a list and divide it in things for you, the house etc. Book a catch up or walk with a friend. Make yourself busy🙌🏽

Hoping41 · 06/07/2020 20:48

@serialplanner yes, I passed a few hours gardening today but there's still too much time for googling etc so I must get more things. I normally manage to keep nice and busy during the holidays but it's so difficult with everything still shut! How are you doing?

VP91x · 06/07/2020 22:02

@Jilly1988 they look on the rise though so it might just be gradual this month, hopefully they keep going upwards.

@Hoping41 it really isn't great for TTC at the moment when you're at home so much. I agree too much time to think and fill. I'm sure it will pass and not be too awful a wait, at 9dpo you're almost there.

Hope everyone is OK?

I'm on CD8 now, finished my soy tablets yesterday and started OPKs today. Fingers crossed I ovulate soon.
We are about to max out on this thread btw only like 4 comments left xx

serialplanner · 06/07/2020 22:53

@SmileyT can you make us another thread?

I can go away if you guys like - sticking around to see your BFPs!

I'm okay thank you Hoping41. Wishing away the weeks so I can feel it's safer. xxx

VP91x · 07/07/2020 05:57

Don't leave @serialplanner 🥰 xx
