Any buddies trying SMEP for the first time this cycle?

Hello all!

I am 26, and trying for my first baby. I'm currently on CD4 of Cycle 3. After two cycles of only DTD a few times in fertile window and no result, DH and I are going to give the Sperm Meets Egg Plan a go this cycle.

For those who don't know, the plan goes like this:

-> From CD 8 DTD every other day until a positive OPK.

-> Start testing with OPKs daily from CD 10 (but I will be using earlier as O'd on CD11 last month!)

-> From positive OPK DTD on the day of the + OPK and two days after, then miss a day and DTD again the next day.

We will also be using pre-seed for the first time this month.

Is there anybody else who is doing SMEP this month? Or anybody who has tried it before successfully or unsuccessfully?

After the disappointment of AF arriving early, I'm excited to start a new cycle.

So I seem to be following in @VP91x footsteps and temps are telling me that I haven't ovulated even though I had EWCM, a peak on cheapies and CB and some ovulation twinges so think it's not my month. BUT I am feeling positive and not down at all about it, I'm so confident this will happen for me at the right time so I'm making a commitment to myself to no longer put extreme pressure on myself each month and just let it happen (whilst also scheduling sex 🤗)

@vp91x that's great news about the ultrasound. The more information the better, I think.

@smileyt I didn't know you could amend it but I've gone and done it now so I think I'm 3dpo and in the nice stage eating my pineapple. That's a shame you don't think you've ovulated. The period power book I was listening to had a crazy % for anovulatory cycles in healthy women. I'm sure it was either 20 or 30%! Fingers crossed your bbt has just gone crazy in this weather and you're actually all ok.

@serialplanner my temp is. 05 lower than yesterday so I'm happy with that. I have very high temps compared to others though so not sure if that's a concern. When I first started taking my temp, I was thinking about it while sleeping so would wake up at silly o'clock thinking I'd missed it. I'm getting better but not sure how reliable they are.
How are you doing this month? Are you managing to stay calm?

@serialplanner well done for not testing. I know what you mean, it's the afternoon lull that gets my brain thinking a test would be a good idea too 😂 fingers crossed for you 🤞

Alas, I think the early stages of AF is here. Such mixed emotions. I think "chill out" but how do people do that? There's a fertile window🤷🏽‍♀️ equally I know if and when I do get pregnant that will be the right baby for me.

@serialplanner oh no way! Have you started spotting/bleeding?

I'll be testing 26th July now! I started my soy this morning not got a headache or anything which is good as heard it has some side effects. Also taking EPO to increase CM.

I know what you mean because you'll always be conscious of a fertile window. Are you ovulating on roughly the same day now? Because you could just not do OPKs maybe and just DTD around that time. Just whatever works for you ❤️

Welllll it's a bit strange. My CM is still clear ISH but has a tinge of brown. I also just feel like she's here so I'm sure she will be here in full soon.

Yeah good idea @VP91x . I think I have enough tests left this month and if I get a peak on CD11 then maybe I can stop with the OPKs and see how we do more casually.

We are not sex everyday people so will still require some effort!

Hi hope you dont mind me joining you all. Im on cycle day 10 of cycle 7. This is my first cycle trying SMEP and will be using preseed. I had a chemical in April so hoping for the best this month.

Is it possible to try SMEP without OPK's? as i did want to give myself a break from them this month.

I use 3 tracking apps which are normally pretty accurate so was just going to go with those.

Hey. Can I join you? I have been ttc for 2.5 years and had 3 losses. We did do smep last year and I did conceive, so I know that we can do it. I've been prescribed cyclogest to take from 7dpo as all my recurrent miscarriage tests are normal.

We're going all in for the next couple of cycles before embarking on ivf. Will be good to have some buddies. Impatiently waiting for af to arrive - hopefully tomorrow or Friday 🤞

I know what you mean @serialplanner its hard to ignore it and go relaxed if you think you're going to miss the most important days!

I've done EPO and grapefruit juice this month and did notice more EWCM, still only a 1-2 days though so I'll keep going.

@Hoping41 that's good re temps. I'm quite hot too I guess (36.45 av follicular phase and 36.75 av luteal phase). When you say you're hot what's your average? And do you take temp orally or vaginally? I take a best of 3 each side of my tongue but theres often quite a bit of difference.

I am on CD14 and got my static smiley. We have BD on CD 9, 11, 13 so now for another 3 days. So I should be due AF 17th July.

@serialplanner I know exactly what you mean. I feel I tell myself to chill out but my body doesn’t actually because I know there’s a fertile week. If I hear the line ‘just relax and stop thinking about it and it will happen’ one more time. I would love to but over a year of trying I’m not sure how to do that.

@Dizzttc SMEP is based on using opks but if you don't then and know when you're ovulation is then you can just do it everyday and then do your three in a row from the day before ovulation 👌🏾

Hi. I actually ordered some opk's today they're due to arrive tomorrow. Thought i should try it the correct way at least give it a good shot. Plus haven't seen anyone try without using them lol

Sorry, no explanation. I literally feel like my period is coming any second now, no flow but I was sure I had some blood in the shower this morning. I felt so in between you know when when you are not TTC and you feel like your period is coming so I thought right I'm going to take a test so I know it's negative and my period is just slow. So I was shocked to see that line after 30 seconds! I'm not going to get excited for a few more days and I'm not sure when to test again.

@vp91x I'm doing ok. 5dpo so just munched the last of my pineapple. My OH has phoned the dr again so there should be a referral to the sperm testing coming soon. It's not being done at the gps at the moment so it's far more complicated than needs to be.
How are you doing? Where are you in your cycle now?

@ smileyt it's pretty good. The seed cycling seems to have done wonders and I've just munched the last of my pineapple. Are you feeling calmer by not knowing if you ovulated or are you still symptom spotting? I have in NY mind that you're an expert chart analyser, is that what's making you think you still haven't ov'd?

@Seafrontsky that’s great news about the EWCM! I drank the grapefruit juice this month but I still didn’t notice any. Fingers crossed it’s your lucky month! I think my temps are even higher than yours! I’ll try and post a picture for you for you to see -my phone doesn’t like attaching photos on here! Am I right in thinking your acupuncturist lowered your temp for you? Can I ask why they did that? I always thought I was a cold person so I’m surprised mine seem so much higher than everyone else’s - I’m taking it orally too, I’d likely set the thermometer ablaze if I stuck it in me!
I’m 5dpo with none of my usual symptoms - sore boobs, low mood, so I’m guessing that’s the seed cycling. Is this what you have noticed too?

@serialplanner I've never had a bfp but I'm guessing the fact the line appeared after 30 secs is a good thing. I think it's every second day for the line to get stronger but I must admit I'd be right in there tomorrow morning! Fingers crossed for you, I can't wait to see your update!

@vp91x it's just because of vivid. He got his first test done there. Now they are prioritising people depending on age (oldies first) and if you've got kids (ttc #1 goes first) so that's us in both categories. However, not as many staff, not answering phones etc means it's still not easy.
