don't tell your doc that you took a break
Holiday sounds fab and I wouldn't want to miss it. We did stop ttc when I ws applying for a new job as if I was pg before I started I wouldn't get mat. pay - never mentioned that to the doc The way I'm feeling at the mo I would say don't deny yourself stuff now as you won't really get the chance to do stuff like this with baby in tow - but then I am feeling that it'll never happen and I'm wasting my time even thinking it might, so maybe I'm not the best person to ask...

Hello- was being nosey and saw Gilly's post so thought I would pop in..

I would go too. It sounds amazing and will give you a new focus and distraction in preparing for it, plus a wonderful time with DH. Reasearch into different types of malarial tablets to choose the most 'friendly', though as you say you may be restricted depending on whether the malaria in those areas are resistant to certain drugs. I read somehwre (in Zita West's book?) that you should give 3 months to let the drugs clear your system but this might be overly cautious. Worth doing your own research- ask at a travel clinic(theres one opposite russell square tube) or even your GP- just say you're considering going away. You don't have to tell him you did go away! I wouldn't tell him you're going to take a break.

If a little bfp heads your way in the meantime, would you be covered by travel insurance? (i think the advice is for pg women not to go to malarial areas) or does the company offer holidays in non-malarial zones- might be able to do you a swap or at least keep your deposit on hold to take at a later stage- with brood in tow!

So I would keep on ttc in the run up!

hope this helps xx

I'm with Nomorer, don't tell the docs that you took a break, and do go on what sounds like an amazing holiday. I would make sure that you find out about the malaria tablets and ttc though - it helps to know exactly what to do for the future when you get back to ttc-ing again.

And also how lovely to spend a holiday in such a great place - as opposed to making endless cups of coffee and cook huge meals for my mil which is how I'll probably be spending the xmas period.

PiggyPenguin · 14/09/2007 15:57

Nomorer? Nomore even!

Gilly- I agree with going away over xmas/new year- infact we even timed our wedding last year so our honeymoon would fall then. Would absolutely love to meet you again for cake. Spotting has died down thankfully am am looking forward to the distraction of the lakes Must dash to go and pick up the car xx

nomoremagnolia · 14/09/2007 22:16

Should have posted that in the hut rather than here. Was just ranting, sorry!
Feeling better this morning, it's just that initial reaction
How are you all this fine sunny morning?

OP posts:
Ready · 15/09/2007 15:21

Nomore - Feel free to rant as much as you like in here!!! You don't have to feel banished to the hut! ((hugs)) I hope you are ok. It's so frustrating when people find it so easy to conceive and we are struggling. Hang in there poppet

Gilly - What a quandary indeed. It's difficult to know what to say really. I agree with the other ladies too - you should not tell the doc that you have stopped trying, if that is what you decide to do. Do discuss pregnancy friendly tablets, and they are an option??
It's so hard to know what to do for the best. I am beginning to realise that we might be missing out on things in life in pursuit of our dream. And like you say, something has to give. But what? Only you can make a decision based on what is right for you. Sorry I am not really helping am I??
I personally couldn't stop trying for a few months, but I totally understand that we shouldn't stop doing wonderful things just because it means not ttc for a while. It's so hard. Never feel that you are being selfish though. You really don't need to worry about that!! I hope that you come to a decision that you are completely happy with.

Hope everyone else is doing well??

Has anyone seen anything cute to link on here?? Is it ok to post a link to a top that I am thinking of getting?? I know it is not ttc related, but I am not brave enough to venture out into the style section of MN... and I'd like an opinion??

nomoremagnolia · 15/09/2007 15:27

Go ahead - I've nothing better to do today than virtual shopping (of any kind!) Between MN and FB I have spent the last 2hrs doing nothing

We were just saying on another thread, the sun is shining, and yet we are indoors watching Soccer Saturday and surfing the net!! We'll be complaining next week when it is raining

The shirt and waistcoat combo??

Ready · 15/09/2007 15:47

How about this skirt??

Ready · 15/09/2007 15:49

I'm loving this??

nomoremagnolia · 15/09/2007 15:51

Love the skirt - shirt/waistcoat looks nice but not my kind of thing (prob because it doesn't suit me! ) Are they to be worn together as an outfit? Is it for something special or just because?

OP posts:
nomoremagnolia · 15/09/2007 15:51

Dress is beautiful

OP posts:
nomoremagnolia · 15/09/2007 15:53

I'm not watching Soccer Saturday - DH would kill me
It's rugby all the way in the nomore house

OP posts:
Ready · 15/09/2007 16:01

oops. Yes of course! Well, SoccerSat in this house

The waistcoat/shirt was purely just because, for smart/casual moments.

The dress I was thinking more for nights out.

Just being nosy, and completely off ttc topic - but where does everyone like to shop?

Ready · 15/09/2007 16:02

Oh and yes, was thinking the shirt/waistcoat could go with the skirt... couple with some thick tights and long boots. Or I have a bit of a penchant for dolly shoes at the mo... so perhaps them.

nomoremagnolia · 15/09/2007 16:06

Think it would make a lovely outfit together. For dresses (like your satin one) I like Coast, for everyday stuff mostly Next. I like this skirt

OP posts:
Ready · 15/09/2007 16:13

Ooooh Nomore, I love that denim skirt!! Good spot Very me. I am a skirt gal

Coast you say?? A girl after my own heart. I drool when I walk past. Thinking ahead, I have 2 weddings next year (totally separate, so one outfit should be ok) what do you think to this dress? Is it ok to wear white if there is plenty of black?? Wouldn't normally consider white to a wedding - but really like this.

nomoremagnolia · 15/09/2007 16:17

When I saw your message I though this was the dress you were talking about. Like your one too although I'd go for the flowers as I can't wear the bold patterns.

OP posts:
Ready · 15/09/2007 16:17

found these... am I too old for them??

Ready · 15/09/2007 16:20

OMG! Your post changes everything! I hadn't seen that. I saw my one (haven't actually bought it yet!) in store and searched for it to show you - but now I am in full on browse mode! The Honeysuckle is so pretty!! Torn. Perhaps I could get both, one for each wedding
