Hello ladies,

Just looking for some pals who are in similar situation to me - hopefully we can support each other in this emotional journey. I'm 35, OH is 38 and we've been TTC first baby for over 12 months overall now (11 months trying). I naively thought it would be easier (emotionally and physically) than this. We sadly miscarried early in Sept so feeling even more cheated that we don't have out BFP by now. My GP has done tests which have all come back normal and have been referred to gynaecology, 1st appt in March. No idea what to expect from that Confused

Would love to hear from others in similar situations, for a bit of moral support. I'm currently 2dpo; feel I should be more than used to 2ww by now, but it doesn't seem to get any easier x

So it seems the lump isn't a cyst, doc isn't sure what it is and has referred me to gynae 😢

Appointment is Tuesday. Feel bad talking to partner about this now as his gran died this morning 😢😢😢

Honolulu1 · 14/02/2020 19:45

So sorry to hear that @claireb707, I hope you can both take your minds off it a little tonight/over weekend and do something nice and relaxing. Not long to wait until Tuesday, and hopefully you can get more answers then 😘

Hi Ladies,
Hope it's ok that I join, I'm on another thread which is fab but the fact that we're all older here helps with some of my worries!
I'm 39, DP is 36, TTC for 18 months, have had all our tests done and awaiting 2nd fertility appointment to find out the results of our tests, if all ok am NHS referral for 1 round of IVF on the NHS.
DP had low morphology on his 1st SA so 🤞🏼 it's improved on his 2nd.
Had my HSG yesterday which wasn't as bad as I'd expected but not great either!
Have had a couple of MC along the way also so just praying we conceive naturally before IVF.

Honolulu1 · 15/02/2020 13:26

Hi @Kiza, so sorry to hear of your loss. I'm just waiting for my first appt next month. Although I really really want to conceive naturally, getting the tests done and asking for referral has helped to give me a little sense of agency as there is so much out of our control in the TTC business! My OH had low morphology 1st SA, and 2nd was much better after starting some fertility vitamins. He's also banned himself from hot baths, and regularly fashions some ice packs to keep his bits cool 😂 Did you have the HSG on your 1st appt?

Hope everyone had a nice Valentine's day yesterday 💞 It's hard to keep the romance sometimes when TTC, but much needed to keep us sane 😃 Me and OH went out for dinner then went and did a pretty mundane food shop without the usual rush of getting home to cook. It made me think that although we desperately want a baby, there's so many things that would be much more difficult to do if/when we have a baby, that we just take for granted now. I'm going to try to remind myself of that in my next TWW, and start enjoying the moment a little more, as who knows when it's all going to change for us 🌈☄

Hi @Honolulu1 , no we didn't have any tests done on our 1st appointment. Our consultant had to request all of them and there was a wait for quite a few so it's taken about 3 months since our 1st consultant appointment to get all the tests done.
We were then told it'll now be another 3 months until we see the consultant again to discuss the results. Frustrating but I know that's a drop in the ocean compared to some people across the country.
That's great news about your OH's 2nd SA, you're the 1st person I've come across to say that so 🤞🏼 for us.
Sounds like you had a lovely relaxing evening ☺️

EB211 · 19/02/2020 13:33

@Honolulu1 hows this week going? I still haven't had any fertile high days although last month by this stage I was on my 5th!

Lisa127 · 19/02/2020 14:40

Hi! Can I join in please? I've just turned 39, been trying for about a year. I've regular cycles but just started to use clear blue digital opk and conceive plus, this month going to try preseed. Good luck all xxx

Honolulu1 · 19/02/2020 18:04

Hey @EB211, I've been ovulating quite late (for me) over past few months, around CD 16-19, so only started OPKs yesterday which have been negative. Felt some cramps today and EWCM, and got a flashing smiley when I got home, so the BD marathon is starting, if I can drag OH away from his work laptop 🤣. What CD do you usually ovulate?

Welcome @Lisa127, where are you in your cycle atm?

How's everyone else getting on this week?x

Lisa127 · 19/02/2020 18:13

Hello @Honolulu1 I'm cd6. Getting a circle on the cb digi opk and expecting a first flashing smile tomorrow. I think I ovulate around day 10/11.
It's all I think about all day every day 🙁
I do get ovulation cramps, trying to pinpoint whether that's before, during or after ovulation. However, every month we DTD every day through what I think is my fertile window - not getting anything though 😞

claireb707 · 19/02/2020 18:19

Had my gynae appointment yesterday, he thinks it's all ok and it is an ectropian en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cervical_ectropion but he has done my smear early (was due in October) just to be sure, results in 2-3 weeks.

Got my peak opk today, typically as partner has 'really bad manflu' 🧐🤥🤧😷

His grans funeral is the 3rd March. Just for once would like something positive as we seem to have had lots of bad luck recently 🤞

Honolulu1 · 19/02/2020 21:14

I've never really worked out where ovulation cramps correlate either @Lisa127! Have you been to your GP yet for test? They can help as you've been trying for over 6 months.

It does sound like you've had your fair share of bad luck now @claireb707. No doubt it will get better now....rainbows come after the storm 🌈 Lemsip for your partner and hopefully you won't miss your peak xx

OP posts:
claireb707 · 19/02/2020 21:16

He's just gone to bed after taking 2 lemsip and 2 nurofen. Says he's never felt this bad before 😩 suspect that's this month over with unless the 2 days we've managed are lucky.

Lisa127 · 20/02/2020 07:15

Thanks @Honolulu1 yes gp has done blood tests and I had a scan last year. Everything points to being normal, bit waiting on a HyCoSy test, where they check for blockages/leaks in my tubes.

EB211 · 20/02/2020 16:23

@Honolulu1 usually between 13-15, i'm on CD12 now and still no flashing smiley, thought for sure i'd get one today....i got so many of them last month! Bding regardless, just in case!!

ParisInTheSpringtime · 20/02/2020 16:50

Hi all. I am 37, and hubby and I are just starting our TTC journey. He is 38. I’ve been tracking periods for a while with Flo, just to get an idea of when I’m ovulating (and what it feels like when that happens). March is our first month of trying. Anyone else use flo?

EB211 · 20/02/2020 19:18

Hey @ParisInTheSpringtime I’ve used Flo for a few years now to keep track of my cycle. Have changed it to track ovulation now, it pretty much tallies with the Clear Blue ovulation test but can be a little bit out x

ParisInTheSpringtime · 22/02/2020 19:14

@EB211 do you think I need to use the tests too? I’ve a pretty good idea of when I’m ovulating now tbh from tracking on the app.

EB211 · 22/02/2020 19:49

@ParisInTheSpringtime it’s up to you really, if you have a good idea of when it’s happening and you don’t want the hassle then keep going as you are! Smile I guess I like to get proof from the scientific side haha. On my Flo app it had me ovulating yesterday but my clear blue says I haven’t reached peak LH levels yet. I’m not very good at filling in all the Parameters though so that could be my fault!

ParisInTheSpringtime · 22/02/2020 20:38

I suppose we are right at the start of
TTC so not too pressured at the moment. Happy to just have sex every day during the possible “right time” lol.

EB211 · 22/02/2020 21:44

@ParisInTheSpringtime anything that means you aren’t putting too much pressure on yourselves is deffo the right option! Smile

Honolulu1 · 23/02/2020 08:52

I got my peak smiley on Thursday morning, oddly only 12 hours after getting my first and only flashing smiley. I've had previous cycles where I got flashing smilies for 7-8days before peak! So strange how varied it can be from month to month 🤔
Did you get your peak yet @EB211?x

Hello all Smile
I'm 36, my OH is 34 and we are going to be TTC this year. We waited until we were settled in our own home, no debt and actually had the space to have a baby - probably a bad move, but oh well here we are.
I've stopped taking my pill (cerazette) as of today.
Can anyone advise things I need to do/take/get to help the journey?
I'm an only child and my mum had me at 43, and family members have had babies in their late 30s so I am surrounded by positive stories, just hoping that we can have a positive story too.

EB211 · 23/02/2020 11:28

@Honolulu1 yeah it’s weird! I got my first flashing smiley on Friday morning and still getting it today, if it’s similar to last month, I’m expecting a static tomorrow morning! I’m running out of sticks, it’s annoying you can’t get refills!

EB211 · 23/02/2020 11:34

@ladyoftheforest good to hear the positive stories! Probably good to start taking some pre-conception vitamins. I take the pregnacare one there are lots to pick from. I make OH take the men’s version too x

JennaRMD · 01/03/2020 17:26

Hi Ladies! Just found thia thread although not sure if I'm welcome as I'm 28... However I came of the pill in late May last year and probably been actively trying since October time. Been taking pre-natal, tracking ovulation, DTD as much as possible over the fertile period and still nothing. It's consuming me. Like I don't know what else I can do at this stage. Feel like we've been trying forever. Literally just thought it would happen quickly from obe time like what they tell you in school. My periods are still real light, like barely existent half the time but my gp says this isn't usually a worry. I'm regular (every 27-30 days) and get all ovulation and period symptoms like I'm meant to. I had a 21 day progesterone test done which confirmed ovulation so at least I know I'm ovulating for def but then I think well why the hells it not happening then!!!!! Feel great until about 5 days before AF is due coz the dread starts coming back. Hate it. Just looking for reassurance tbh, everyone just keeps telling me "it'll happen when it happens" but unfortunately that doesn't help!
