Coil Removal

I've had my coil removed a couple of weeks ago, my cycle is all over the place so waiting for it to settle.
Just wondering how long it took for others to have your cycle back to normal or get pregnant after removal ??

@MommaJp Hi, I had mine removed on 3rd of Jan, withdrawl bleed for 6 days a day after and still waiting for everything to settle down/kick in.
Having no patience does not help 😄

MommaJP · 22/01/2020 12:52

@Anon87 I know what you mean !
Are you planning on trying tc ?
I have 0 patience, I had mine removed 7th I've bled heavy then light and spotting it's driving me mad bleeding on / off.
Just want it too settle down.

@MommaJp Yeah sooner the better. Nurse said I need to test 3 weeks later (which is this week) as there was a chance of being "caught" on removal 😄

Any chart or app means nothing at the minute, all predictions are out the window and it's frustrating when I'm cramping all over the place

MommaJP · 22/01/2020 13:35

@Anon87 the nurse said to test for pregnancy 3 weeks after removal??

I know it's frustrating, just don't know when to track from or anything.

I had mine removed on 20th November, 6 weeks until I got my next period after that which was light, and only lasted 2 days, currently waiting for the next one to show 🙄 I'm also impatient and ttc baby #3

MommaJP · 22/01/2020 13:45

@Cranberry3 so your just waiting for your cycle to come back around?

I'm sick of spotting 🙈 I've read it can take few months to weeks + to go back to "normal" cycle

I had my mirena coil removed on the 16th Dec, started bleeding on the 18th Dec. I bled until January 10th. For the first 10 days it was ridiculously heavy, bleeding through super tampons every hour for 2 days of it! Was awful.
I ovulated on the 14th January and now expecting my period to follow the 4 week 2 day rule it was before my mirena, but I have no clue if it will x

zoomies1 · 22/01/2020 14:01

Had my coil out in November 2018 and was pregnant by the end of December.

I only had a withdrawal bleed of a day and a half and it was very light.

Cranberry3 · 22/01/2020 14:24

We are actively trying and have been since having it removed, I'm not tracking anything other than my period and just hoping I manage to get pregnant lol but I haven't had a "normal" cycle yet since removal

Cranberry3 · 22/01/2020 14:25

Mine was the copper coil with no hormones not sure if that makes any difference, but my cycle still hasn't returned back to my usual pattern

MommaJP · 22/01/2020 16:51

@zoomies1 how long did you wait too do a test?
So around 4 weeks and you feel pregnant?

OP posts:
MommaJP · 22/01/2020 16:52

@Cranberry3 I had the hormonal coil
Yeah I'm just gonna hope for the best aswell, just hard when you want it isn't it.

MommaJP · 22/01/2020 16:53

@Hoping4no4 it sounds like you bled a lot when it was removed, did you bleed heavy with the coil in??

Hey 👋 I had my Mirena coil out 26th September 2019 . I had a withdrawal bleed that lasted around 4 days (started 3 days after the removal), then a two week gap ish , had a really heavy period , then had a massive cycle of around 40 days! , then my period came in November again , lasted 3 days ish and then a little spotting, then on 23rd December I got my positive pregnancy test, currently 8 weeks+4 according to the midwife today! 👶🏼💕 Hope that helps x

Hoping4no4 · 22/01/2020 16:59

@MommaJP I had the hormonal coil that is supposed to stop you getting periods, but I always had my periods. They were super light though x

Banoffeepie91 · 22/01/2020 18:26

I got mine out in June and periods still not regular, longest has been 42 days and shortest 24! Having some tests at the moment to see if there’s anything causing this but my friend who is a GP said it can sometimes just take a while for them to regulate which is quite annoying.

okiedokieme · 22/01/2020 18:37

Sorry to hijack - but how long after fitting until you had a bleed? I'm 4 days late and getting paranoid! I had it fitted 2.5 weeks ago and waited the correct number of days as per instructions. No symptoms whatsoever, but I am older if that makes a difference.

xiaomao · 22/01/2020 19:25

I got my Mirena coil out in September, had first period 6 weeks later, another 5 weeks after that and then got my BFP in December!

MGee123 · 22/01/2020 20:18

I had mine taken out in August. Bled the following week and have then had irregular cycles since, although they do seem to be settling down a bit - last 3 were 22, 28, 24 days. So we're on cycle 6 TTC post coil removal. I'm trying to stay positive but am also impatient and finding the uncertainty frustrating and a bit disheartening!

MommaJP · 22/01/2020 21:27

@itsemily congratulations lovely !
Everyone's info is really helpful.

@Hoping4no4 I had mirena still got my periods aswell but most were pretty light / spotting.

@Banoffeepie91 really sorry to hear your struggling, yeah that's why I was confused as a lot of the information is so different online it's hard to tell what's what.

MommaJP · 22/01/2020 21:32

@okiedokieme erm it was well over a year ago I had this coil put in but it did mess with my cycle for a while, I stuck with the rule that if after 3 months I hadn't come on I contacted GP. This is my 3rd coil.

@xiaomao sorry if sound stupid🙈 what does BFP mean??

@MGee123 it sounds good there settling a little for you, fingers crossed you catch soon

Hatepickinganame · 22/01/2020 21:34

I had mine removed nov 28th, had a withdrawal bleed day after for four days. First period was dec but super light and mega painful. Second one was jan, much heavier but less pain! Which put me on a 26 day cycle, next one should be due in feb. Drs gave differing advice, one said everything goes back to normal straight away, another said it can take time to settle back down. Everyone is different i guess.

Anon87 · 22/01/2020 22:49

@MommaJP Bit of a late reply but yeah, because we'd had some fun a few days before removal she said there was a slim chance of getting caught. I highly doubt that's happened but we all, to an extent, enjoy POAS 😆

xiaomao · 23/01/2020 06:52

@MommaJP BFP is big fat positive on a pregnancy test Grin

GaaaaarlicBread · 23/01/2020 07:49

I didn’t have a period on mine for three years so was clueless as to what my cycles were ! It was a nightmare !
