Pregnant again after an ectopic freaking out!!

Hi everyone!

Found out I was pregnant on Sunday to my absolute astonishment! I had an ectopic pregnancy in the summer last year and had my left Fallopian tube removed in August... the clear blue test said 2-3 weeks obviously ovulated a lot sooner than I thought I did... I'm seriously freaking out any little pain or niggle makes me think I'm going through it again... I have an early scan tomorrow.. just seriously need some reassurance... has anybody been through an ectopic pregnancy and had a healthy pregnancy after??

SleepWarrior · 15/01/2020 15:17

Yes, me. I was convinced the healthy pregnancy was another ectopic as I felt like I had all the same symptoms and so much pain. An early scan showed everything was fine but it was a very anxious time leading up to the scan. Hang in there until that scan tomorrow Flowers

MoStew18 · 15/01/2020 15:24

@SleepWarrior thank you so much for your reply! That's such wonderful news congratulations!! Thanks

I know I have to try to relax but it's so hard isn't it... I'm just going to hold my breath until tomorrow and hope for the best... we weren't even trying like last time.. so the anxiety is there definitely

I've had 2 ectopic pregnancies. First one, then I had 2 miscarriages, then I had a healthy baby boy, I had an ectopic again back in August last year. Try and keep calm and congratulations! I wish you all the best xx

MoStew18 · 15/01/2020 16:29

@kevintheorangecarrot I'm sorry for your loss it's absolutely awful isn't it SadThanksit all happens so fast... I went to A&E thinking I had a kidney infection because my back was on fire then I started to bleed which I thought was odd they took some bloods and urine called me into a little room and told me I was pregnant I had no idea I'd only recently come off the pill and thought I had a period 2 weeks previous so was absolutely shocked... they then told me I was probably experiencing an early miscarriage... I was having HCG bloods every 2 days... my levels started to rise but no one put two and two together... then about 3 weeks later I collapsed in agonising pain.. wasn't until they scanned me they said the tube had ruptured and I was bleeding internally... they rushed me for surgery and removed the whole tube... I was absolutely devastated, I already have an 18
Month old little boy and after what happened was convinced I was never going to get pregnant again... then Sunday came along and boom a big fat BFP... just riddled in anxiety keep touching my stomach begging for the pregnancy to be in the right place..Sad

My friend had one, tube was removed and now she has 3 healthy boys, 5, 3 and nearly 1!

Herringbone31 · 15/01/2020 16:49

Hi. I had a ectopic. With my left tube removed

I went on to have 2 healthy babies. One I had the egg come from the side I had no tube! So my second child was conceived from an egg from my left side. When I asked joe this happens. The sonography said oh yeah. We used to gel people they had 50% chance of having a healthy baby after the operation. However we’ve recently found that you can ovulate from the side without a tube. The egg transfers over to the other side and goes down that tube

I had a horrific ectopic. I was 18. My boyfriend of 3 years dumped me when I refused to have an abortion. I kept going to my gp who said it was wind. Finally one dr picks up on it. I went to hospital. Was kept I. For weeks. They said I was having a miscarriage. Yet my hcg levels were super high (don’t worry though. As my two normal babies they were also incredibly high). But they could t find the baby. The op was more of just a check. When Inside they saw it was right by my ovary. They discussed taking my ovary out. But that would of pit me I to menopause early. They told me after. Don’t worry. It only ever happens like every 15 years BUT we could of left some of it behind. But don’t worry. That’s incredibly rare. Went for my blood tests a week later. I was kept hours and hours

Walked Into the room and the consultant said. Remember that thing we said would never happen. You’re that incredibly rare once every 15 years lady. We need to get you into surgery now. I said what this week? He said no now! I said what today? He said no now! I was in surgery 12 mins later. They removed the tube. Which worked. However I got an infection (I also had a drop dead gorgeous dr!). They operated again. But sadly they managed to cut open my stomach and I bled internally. I then had to go on to have 2 more operations

All whilst on my own. The guy never saw me. All these husbands were seeing their wives. Yet there was just me. For months.

However. Even after all that. I have 2 amazing babies! It can happen xx I had early scans for both. Have they offered you this?

MoStew18 · 15/01/2020 16:55

@Herringbone31 oh my goodness that is absolutely awful! I'm so sorry! I couldn't imagine how you felt especially doing that all by yourself aswel!! What a twat of an ex fucking boyfriend!!! Yeah I've got my early scan tomorrow first thing they were really quick to put me in to be fair considering I only found out on Sunday I was pregnant.. just hoping for the best just can't help but think the worst you know... I seriously don't know what I'd do if they said the pregnancy wasn't in the right place this time round... it's the sense of not having any control over it that's what's driving me crazy... I'm constantly weeing which I'm hoping is a good sign and my boobs are killing but that's just the hormones isn't it xx

OP posts:
MoStew18 · 15/01/2020 16:57

@Herringbone31 did you ever get little niggles in the area where they removed your tube? That's what I'm experiencing not pain just a stretching sensation really... just making me very panicky 😱

OP posts:
Herringbone31 · 15/01/2020 17:15

Oh. My ectopic was over 20 years ago. Still get pain there! ESPECIALLY when I was pregnant. I was SURE I was having another ectopic. Please pm me! Or update this thread. Tag me. I am sending you all my love and good wishes for you

Yeah. My ex was a twat. Thank good he did though. I was devasted. Not a normal devastating. But my whole world collapsed due to him for a good 12 months. The drs kept telling me an ectopic seriously messed with your hormones and mood. As your body can take months to adjust from having hcg. To nothing. Within mins. Whereas a miscarriage lowers you hcg levels slower. As it’s a natural process. Same for abortion. Hcg levels just disappear.

Worst time of my life. However I’m now married to a wonderful man. He’s my rock. He’s amazing

MoStew18 · 15/01/2020 17:28

@Herringbone31 oh thank goodness that's really reassuring to hear you say that you got sensation in the area the tube was removed! Makes me feel slightly more relaxed 😂I'm so happy you found someone else!! And have 2 beautiful babies!!

Absolutely I'll let you know how the scan goes tomorrow morning... just need to try
And relax till then! Probably won't sleep much tonight now 😂

Thank you for making me feel a little better means so much to talk to someone who has experienced such an awful situation too xx

MoStew18 · 16/01/2020 11:19

Just an update.. had the scan at it shows a small gestational structure in my womb they said I was around 5 weeks which is too early for anything to be seen... so they have taken my bloods to check the HCG levels.. they said structure instead of sack because until they can see anything in the womb they have to still assume that the pregnancy could still possibly be outside of the womb 😩...
They are going to call me later with the results of the HCG I have a other scan in 2 weeks time.

It's strange yesterday I felt pregnant with sore boobs and today I don't feel anything.

OP posts:
kevintheorangecarrot · 16/01/2020 14:16

@MoStew18 that's what they said to me when I was around 5 weeks! Scan at 5w6d and baby with a HB was there. Try not to worry too much and fingers crossed that your hcg levels are looking great. It's the doubling time they're more concerned about, so whatever the result is today, the 2nd results in 48 hours is the major important one. Xx

kevintheorangecarrot · 16/01/2020 14:27

Oh and I also got pain in my L side when I was pregnant with my healthy boy. In fact, I got a sudden major sharp pain and I instantly thought oh my god.. but a scan revealed it was a corpus luteum(?) that had burst. Something you get when you're pregnant apparently?! Cannot remember exactly how it is described now.

MoStew18 · 16/01/2020 14:49

@kevintheorangecarrot oh that's so good to hear thank you!! They said It was likely that I had only turned 5 weeks but they could see the gestational structure which was really reassuring... they called me back and told me my HCG is in its 3000 which she was was good in normal range, so I've got some more bloods on Saturday morning... it's awful isn't it any pain I'm convinced something scary is going to happen 😩😂 did you feel pregnant at all when you found out you were? I've got a little boy and can't remember for the life of me if I had symptoms... just strange I have them one moment then they vanish which doesn't help the anxiety levels Confused

OP posts:
kevintheorangecarrot · 16/01/2020 15:03

@MoStew18 that's great news! Fingers x'd that your second lot of bloods are even better! I had 0 symptoms with my first ectopic except gushing blood all the time / brown, smelly discharge. It took them about 12w to discover that it was an EP! With my normal pregnancy, I had symptoms that came and went. One min I felt so poorly, very nauseous and everything stank so badly! To not having any whatsoever and that's why I paid to have a scan at 11w as I also had a bleed around 9w which made me think the worse but thankfully everything was OK! Symptoms will definitely come and go so try not to worry if they disappear or they lessen! I totally understand that it is easier said than done! Xx

MoStew18 · 16/01/2020 15:15

@kevintheorangecarrot I've just realised how awful I am at writing so many mistakes sorry surprised it made any sense 😂 yeah with my EP I had bleeding and the awful pain 12 weeks undiagnosed??? I'm so sorry that's terrible!! I was in and out of A&E for about 6 weeks before my tube ruptured and then collapsed in excruciating pain... I spoke to the lady in the early pregnancy unit today and explained what happened and she was really shocked about how often it happens and how the professionals only suspect an EP if your HCG is in its thousands increasing slowly... with my EP my level was only at 420 and that's why they didn't suspect it being one at all because the levels were so low... she told me that those are the cases they are learning from now and slowly getting better at diagnosing EPs sooner it's sad to learn that it can be treated early and sufficiently if EPs are just caught quicker...

I'm hopeful and was such a relief to learn that the pregnancy looks to be in my womb this time... I don't think I was hoping for anything just to be told it was there... I'm bloody praying that my levels double now on Saturday... is it sad to envy those lucky woman who find out they are pregnant and just have their normal dating scan at 12 weeks 😂😂

@kevintheorangecarrot it's been great to hear that you are pregnant again after having an ectopic pregnancy and your fallopian tube removed.
Bcoz I am going to try for a baby.
I had an ectopic pregnancy in 2015 and my fallopian tube ruptured and was rushed into surgery. Woke up and they said that they had to remove my fallopian tube. I was really upset thinking I wouldn't have anymore children.
They explained that I should be able to have another baby.
I have a 6 year old son and I always think of the baby I've lost, they said at the scan that I was about 8 weeks but there was no heartbeat and it wasnt in my whomb.
I keep thinking of the little brother it sister my boy could have had.
My boyfriend and I have decided to try for a baby so I came off the pill just before New Year.
I havnt had a period yet and when I googled it, it said it can take a few months for some women to have a period after coming off Cerelle.
My boobs really hurt and I wondered if u was pregnant but when I googled it, its a side effect of coming off the pill. I also done a pregnancy test because I had a few very vivid dreams and I had dreams like that before when I was pregnant but pregnancy test was negative.
Ur supposed to take a pregnancy test tho after ur last missed period but I havnt had one yet and came off the pill just before New year and we have sex regularly.
I'm hoping for a period soon so that I can work out when I'm ovulating.
Great news to hear that you are pregnant and it gives me hope that I can get pregnant again xx

MoStew18 · 16/01/2020 18:04

@AmumsAli welcome!! I'm sorry to hear about your Ectopic too it's seriously an awful thing to go through ThanksI had only just come off my pill when I had my ectopic I hadn't even had a normal period... it took me a full year to get pregnant with my son who's now 18 months! I had my tube removed last August from the rupture... the surgeon said that my other tube looked fine and it may take a while to get pregnant again if that's what I wanted... my doctor also said it isn't going to be the same fertility wise... but I found out Sunday that I was pregnant again I was in utter shock I just stared at the test for probably about 20 minutes not believing the words... my periods went back to normal fairly quickly after my EP I was tracking them on an app... and I just noticed I never came on and thought that was abit odd.. then the next day I took the test... I went to the early pregnancy unit in my local hospital this morning so they could give me a scan and they saw a gestational structure in my womb I burst into tears with joy I'm only around 5 weeks so way to early to see anything.. just to be told that it looks like it's in the right place was good enough for me... I had my HCG bloods also they came back 3100 so I've got to go back for more on Saturday to see if they have doubled.

I think the only thing that I can note about symptoms is that I didn't feel like I was coming on to my period I usually have quite servers pms about a week before my AF and this month nothing... I had tender boobs which I usually get but they felt tender in a different way this time round.

I would say 100% try for another baby if you are ready absolutely because it does happen even with one tube our bodies are amazing and there are so many success stories about woman getting pregnant with just one tube after such an horrific situation such as an ectopic pregnancy... you will be monitored very closely at the beginning which is great and really reassuring

MoStew18 · 16/01/2020 18:09

@AmumsAli the strangest part of this is I thought I was pregnant last month I had the vivid dreams, sore boobs, loads of discharge, really thirsty and hungry but I came on my period and now this month I had my BFP! Our bodies are so weird sometimes 😂

OP posts:
AmumsAli · 16/01/2020 18:15

@kevintheorangecarrot that must have been so reassuring at the scan to hear that everything looks to be in the right place and great that ul have another scan in 2 weeks and they'll probably be able to see better what's going on and that baby is growing ok in the womb. Ur right our bodies are truly amazing 🙂💗
I'm definitely ready for another baby and can't wait to be pregnant again, that's really good that they will scan early after having an ectopic pregnancy, I hope that's the same here in Glasgow xx

MoStew18 · 16/01/2020 18:26

@AmumsAli it seriously was just the best news! Felt like I could breathe again any little niggle I had I was convincing myself I was having another ectopic I've read that there is only a 10% chance of having another ectopic pregnancy and 90% chance the pregnancy being in the womb... but until you see it on the screen you can't help but think the worst... it's still early days for me yet just counting my lucky stars that evening goes ok.. it should be the same for you absolutely when you find out you are pregnant you can either call your GP to let them know or call your early pregnancy unit and they will if you've had an ectopic before... I live in wales and my surgeon told me after my surgery to call as soon as you find out... when I called Monday morning I only had to briefly explain to them and they put me in for a scan the same week... aswell as having bloods taken and another scan in 2 weeks. They should be very shit out with you if you explain your past Ectopic.

I had moments of just feeling so low and down thinking I'd never be able to have another baby... but you will definitely have another baby 100% even with one tube Thanksxx

@MoStew18 Definitely keep us up to date because I'll be thinking of you with your next scan 💗 I'll definitely let you know if I get a bfp soon, I hope I do 🙂💗 I just need to be patient 🙈 xx

MoStew18 · 16/01/2020 18:49

@AmumsAli without a doubt you will!! I know the patience game with trying to conceive is just torture! 😩😂 we weren't trying last month because we were so busy with Christmas and new year so we were just having fun and bedding when we wanted too.. I had a few drinks over the festive period too 😳 wasn't even dreaming of becoming pregnant but that's when Mother Nature catches you when you least expect it 😂😉 I have been taking the multi pregnancy vitamins every day since my ectopic surgery last August I have no idea if that helped at all or not but there's no harm in taking them 🥰xx
