Depo injection experiences

Hello ladies, just looking for anyone's experiences trying to conceive after the depo injection. I'm currently on my ninth month since my last injection. My periods return six months ago, but no BFP yet.

I seem to be experiencing spotting a fair bit mid-cycle as well. I take ovulation tests, but I don't seem to get a positive. Feeling a bit fed up!

@Danielle95lab hey! How are things with you Smile xxxx

Danielle95lab · 06/01/2020 09:00

@ForeverHopeful67 hey lovely! I'm good thanks just on CD14 so nothing exciting at the moment seen as my cycles are so long. I've sacked off the ovulation tests as everything because I was driving myself insane and just going with the flow this month. Feel like it's taking over my life 😂 however, if nothing happens by March I'm going back to the doctors.

How are things with you? Did you go to the doctors yet?xxx

@Danielle95lab glad all is well ☺️ I don't blame you for ditching the OPKs! They do end up taking over your life! I too stopped temping and testing all last month and it definitely helped me feel more relaxed!

I went to the docs last week and they're doing some final blood tests for me, have asked my partner to have a S.A. done which he's thrilled about 🙃 then they've said they will refer me to the fertility clinic which is good news!!

I don't blame you for wanting to go back to the doctors - keep persevering!xxx

Louisg · 06/01/2020 23:31

I can off the depo in September and got pregnant before my first period. Unfortunately ended in mc which I sometimes wonder if it was connected to not having a break in hormones. I bought Angus Cactus and another supplement (which I never got round to using) as I've heard they can help regulate - some what - your cycles

Danielle95lab · 07/01/2020 07:46

@ForeverHopeful67 Thats brilliant news, such a positive step forward. Least you're going to begin getting some answers. Have things still been a bit weird cycle wise?

Yeah it's time to relax about it I think, then doctors if that doesn't work. Let me know how your appointments go and bloods xx

ForeverHopeful67 · 12/01/2020 10:07

@Danielle95lab thanks babe, yeah things are still pretty much non existent cycle wise! Even having my bloods done last week they were like " usually these would be done 7 days before your period but how long is a peice of string for you!" Haha OH has the ball rolling with his SA now too so hopefully will be being referred end of Jan / beginning of Feb!
How are things with you? Cycle settled down?xxx

Danielle95lab · 12/01/2020 10:40

@ForeverHopeful67 isn't it bizarre how things were actually settling down for you and now this 🙈 so glad things are moving forward though, updates on your journey please!!

Everything's not too bad. I started experiencing loads of EWCM last week so pulled out the OPK again and turns out I was ovulating on CD16, so I'm hoping that means my cycles are now becoming shorter as AF is due to arrive on CD30 instead of 40, wooo😂! So 3DPO now, waiting game again. However I seem to have bloody got a yeast infection and I've read all the over the counter stuff and you can't use any of it if you're trying to conceive, so back to the doctors next week if it doesn't settle in a few days 🤦🏻‍♀️ xxx

ForeverHopeful67 · 12/01/2020 23:09

@Danielle95lab I know! Completely had me under false pretences thinking everything was finally sorting itself out but nope! Ah well hopefully I'll get some answers in the next few months! Of courseSmile

Ooooh that sounds promising! Fingers crossed for a 30 day cycle for you! OMG that's a nightmare, it doesn't rain it pours as they say 😂the things we put up with to try and have a baby! Men have it easy really don't they xxx

Danielle95lab · 13/01/2020 11:00

@ForeverHopeful67 I know it can only really be onwards and upwards for you now. I'm actually jealous you've got things moving. But I don't think the doctors will entertain me yet if my cycles are being some what normal 🙈

Oh I know honestly, just my luck isn't it. Luckily we covered ovulation day and a few days prior but after that I've been really frustrated with it. And like I said you can't take normal medication cause it says don't take if you're trying to conceive or are pregnant, so it's just a nightmare 😂

OP posts:
ForeverHopeful67 · 13/01/2020 22:46

@Danielle95lab it's always the way, wanting what other people have as I'd love to have regular cycles! Or a cycle at all actually 😂 I'll keep you updated through out the process though and offer any info that I can! When will it have been 1 year TTC for you?

Xx

Danielle95lab · 13/01/2020 23:10

Haha that's definitely true! It's a year in March so not far off 🙈xxx

@ForeverHopeful67 hey lovely! I just wanted to check in on your journey? Have you had any luck since we last spoke?xxx

ForeverHopeful67 · 25/02/2020 22:34

@Danielle95lab hey chick! It's been a while! Thanks for checking in Smile no change here really, had another "period" at the beginning of this month so thought I may ovulate this cycle but still nothing! Made some progress with the fertility referral though and I should hear back with my first app next week Smile
How are things with you? Coming up to your year mark now!xxx

Danielle95lab · 26/02/2020 07:58

@ForeverHopeful67 seriously that depo injection is a bloody nightmare isn't it. I'm glad you've got an appointment sorted, that will kick start everything! I have everything crossed for you, the struggle is real.

Well we actually stopped actively trying and then I found out a few weeks ago I'm pregnant, now 5 weeks. But I'm an anxious mess. I've read about so many people having miscarriages after the depo shot I just can't shift the negative thoughts 😩😩xx

OP posts:
ForeverHopeful67 · 26/02/2020 22:56

@Danielle95lab thanks babe, appreciate it, just looking forward to be able to properly try and be in with some sort of chance!

OH MY GOODNESS!! That's incredible news congratulations - so pleased for you 🥰 I bet it must be such an anxious time for you, but the depo doesn't statistically cause more miscarriages than anything else, it's just one of those things unfortunately! Just try to sit back and enjoy it if you can ☺️ think of how far you've come! You give me hope xxxx

Danielle95lab · 27/02/2020 09:01

@ForeverHopeful67 aw thank you lovely! I feel like you're the only one who's really understood what I've been going through to get this far. You'd think I'd be overjoyed (which I am) but yeah riddled with anxiety.

But honestly, I thought there was no hope and I slowly started to give up. I literally was about to book New York at Christmas and look for another job then this happened. So yes, when you think it's near enough impossible it will most definitely happen for you.

Please let me know how your appointments go. I've got everything crossed for the next few months for you. Are you still trying to track ovulation?xxx

ForeverHopeful67 · 28/02/2020 23:43

@Danielle95lab awww that's so lovely to hear! Thanks babe, I really am so pleased for you!!
They do say when you start to not fixate on it so much that's when it happens and here you are!! When does that make you due then ?

Of course I'll keep you updated! I've actually got my first positive OPK tonight! Which is exciting as I've not had one before!! No ewcm but I've googled and some people don't, but I'm pleased that's a step in the right direction for me! And just over two weeks since my "period" so that fits!xxx

Danielle95lab · 29/02/2020 08:21

@ForeverHopeful67 I'm due 28th October! Unfortunately I had a bit of brown discharge Thursday which has completely shattered my hopes of this being successful. I just have an awful feeling but the early pregnancy unit said it can be common so not to panic unless it gets worse😩!

Omg at long last!! That's exactly what you need. Yeah sometimes when I got positive OPK I didn't always have the EGWD so don't worry, just baby dance as much as you can. Usually as soon as you have the one, you'll have it every month now so it's such a positive step for you. I'm actually really excited for you xxxx

OP posts:
ForeverHopeful67 · 29/02/2020 14:07

@Danielle95lab eeeeek exciting time will fly by for you!! awww chick, try not to over think it, if you've had reassurance from professionals and they're not concerned there's no reason for you to be either Smile although I totally get what an anxious time this is for you! I would say out of all my friends that have been pregnant Atleast 80% of them said they had some sort of bleeding during early pregnancy and went on to have beautiful healthy babies!

Thanks chick, means a lot!! It's funny because I've gone from never having a positive OPK before to having positive ones for the last three days!!haha I'm just praying now that my temp shows I have actually ovulated 🤞wouldn't it be ace if I could join you on your pregnancy journey! xxx

Danielle95lab · 29/02/2020 18:33

@ForeverHopeful67 thanks lovely that's put my mind at ease a bit. Roll on my early scan on the 11th March to anxiety is real 😫😫

Honestly this is the start of something amazing chick! That's it now you're well on your way once you get those first positives. Absolutely over the moon for you. OMG that would be amazing! Be so nice to have us both going through the journey together xxxx

OP posts:
ForeverHopeful67 · 01/03/2020 00:08

@Danielle95lab not too much longer to wait til you get to see your little bean for the first time then 🙊 too exciting! How have you been feeling in general? Did you feel any different before you got your bfp?
Did you get anymore spotting in the end today?

Thanks chick, I honestly feel so pleased to finally see a positive tear of some sort 😂 still a long way to go yet but I so hope my bbt reflects it too I will be really chuffed! And with my app too hopefully round the corner that should help move things along for me too!xxx

Danielle95lab · 01/03/2020 09:19

@ForeverHopeful67 no more spotting. Woke up in the middle of the night with cramps but I think that's pretty normal, they go within 5 mins. I've been okay so far to be honest, the occasional backache, tiredness and sore boobs are about it for me at the moment.

Honestly I didn't have anything before I tested. I was due to go to the doctors for anxiety and she wanted to give me some tablets. Anyway I knew somethings you can't take pregnant or while trying to conceive so I thought I'd take a daft test to be sure and got the shock of my life 😂😂

OMG thing is you say there's still a long way to go but it only took me two/three months of positive opk's and I was pregnant so I think it's going to be such a positive step for you! Im actually praying you get pregnant soon now haha xxxx

OP posts:
ForeverHopeful67 · 01/03/2020 23:16

@Danielle95lab that all sounds totally normal and like good signs to me 😊 I'm seriously so pleased for you!!!
How crazy is that?! Always when you least expect it look!!

I so hope I follow the same path as you! I'm obviously doubtful because it's taken me so long to get here... only weird thing is I haven't stopped having positive opk's yet! Started Friday morn and still had another one this evening! So I have no idea when or if I've actually ovulated? 🤨 I thought you'd just have the one then that was it! xxx

crosser62 · 01/03/2020 23:24

12 months for a period to appear after the last injection.
2 further years to conceive.
Multiple miscarriages.
Conceived first child.
Further multiple miscarriages.
Conceived 2nd child after 10 years.

Had the injection for 7 years. Severe, completely out of character dips in mood during that time, weight gain.
I blame all of my fertility issues on the injection.

Danielle95lab · 02/03/2020 10:32

@ForeverHopeful67 thanks lovely! Today I've either got a stomach bug or horrific morning sickness cause I'm dying 😂😂 the joys!

Omg don't stress, I had positives for roughly 4 days on OPK but I know some people have positives up to 5 days. As soon as you get a very strong positive I would stop testing. Just baby dance for that week and you'll be fine xxxx
