I hope you have a Christmas baby! When would you be testing?

Lilice · 03/12/2019 14:30

I had my blood tests results today and everything came back normal apart from one hormone which is slightly higher than normal but the doctor said everything was fine. What a relief! I thought they were going tell me I was entering menopause!!! I really need to stop worrying and calm down lol

Lilice · 03/12/2019 14:31

Oh and the gp also dismissed the short luteal phase issue and said that wasn't a problem at all.

Quiffy · 03/12/2019 14:47

@lilice That's really good news!

SunnyFlover · 03/12/2019 15:22

@Lolastanley - literary Christmas time 😅 But knowing my last 2 chemicals - will need to keep my mouth shut if I test BFP again... Don't want to get my family's hopes up. It would be first grandchild for both of our parents and they have been begging for it nearly a decade.

SunnyFlover · 03/12/2019 15:24

@Lilice that's so good! Fantastic news. What tests did you do? I am thinking to go for a general check if it all. But would like to know what I should question/ what to get done.

Lolastanley · 03/12/2019 16:19

@SunnyFlover aw I know they probably mean well but don’t let the family situation pressure you, it will be added stress you don’t need.

Does anybody here use OPKs to test when ovulating? This is my first month using them, I always thought I’d ovulate between 11-14CD as that’s what my apps says but im on day 13 and if anything my LH is dropping, not that it was ever high. Any ideas??

Sammyclaire22 · 03/12/2019 17:39

Great news about the test results! What a weight off your mind!
I've been testing opks and temps this month... i think im ovulating today or tomorrow as got a strong one last night. Happy to take a pic if it helps of the last weeks worth? Keep testing either way... you might ovulate later or either you missed it or the tests didn't react most likely! Not that I know much about them!

Quiffy · 03/12/2019 17:47

I use opks, I use femometer and it tells me if it’s high, peak etc. I think the surge sometimes only last for a few hours so the tests can miss them depending on when you took it. I’ve found using opks, that app and bbt together this month allowed me to actually pinpoint my ov day. The months before I got a bit confused and last month I didn’t see a proper darker than the control line.

Lolastanley · 03/12/2019 18:28

Aw thanks guys. That’s helpful. I think it’s hard because I work nights so I never actually know when to test, because technically isn’t when I wake up in the evening first morning urine? But then it says to test 10am-8pm for most accurate results. Crazy, I’m sure it will show soon.

Quiffy · 03/12/2019 18:45

I think as long as you leave 4 hours between without peeing you can just take times that suit you. I struggle more as I pee a lot but around the time I think I’m ovulating I just test every 4 hours with cheap opks

Lilice · 03/12/2019 18:54

@SunnyFlover they tested plasma, FSH, LH, testostérone, free androgen index, haemoglobin and sex hormone binding glibulin. Basically she wanted to rule out pcos.
I cannot put my mind to rest though. I chatted with my gp friend tonight and she still thinks my luteal phase is too short and that could be due to low progesterone. She can't prescribe me anything as obviously I'm not her patient. She advised me to go for further tests to check my progesterone levels. So I've booked an appointment with a different gp at my surgery to get a second opinion.

Lilice · 03/12/2019 19:02

@Lolastanley im on cd13 too and opks all negative. I use the cheap one step ones but not with fmu. I do them after 10 and try not to drink too much before. The past couple of months I had strong positives on cd 14 and 15. I used the clear blue hormone one yesterday, totally negative, and tried again this morning but there was a technical fault! Not a good start 😂 I don't think im using them the right way anyway, should have read the instructions first 😣

Sammyclaire22 · 03/12/2019 19:25

Fwiw i test about 6pm for opks and seem to get changes as the month goes along, seemed to work last time I did them and I find I'm more consistent with the time of the day that way. The clear blue ones seem far too technical for me! I can only just manage to poas without spilling!

How do they check progesterone? Is that the cd21 one? It's good they have ruled out pcos but it must be so confusing to have different advice!

SunnyFlover · 03/12/2019 20:05

@Lolastanley so you have Femometer app? It's very handy. You can scan your test each day and it tell you what is going on.
@Lilice thank you 🙏🏼. From what I read, your friend Gp might be very right. I am trying to boost up my luteal please. Apparently B6 and all the leafy greens in the diet really help it. Acupuncture helps it. I am making myself green ( kale ; spinach; avocado and berries) smoothies every morning and trying out vegan ( + fish) diet this month. Will see what happens. Not to mention I have been on various conception supplements for the last 3 months. Apparently it takes 7-9 months in most cases to get back to the normal cycle after prolonged bc pill usage .

Lilice · 03/12/2019 20:24

@SunnyFlover i eat spinach on a daily basis, it's my favourite veg. Smoothies sound like such a good idea! I don't eat breakfast but maybe I should start my day with a healthy smoothie.
@Sammyclaire22 yes it is cd21. Hopefully the other gp I'll see on Thursday will agree to give me this test. Yeah conflicting advice sucks but I've got a gut feeling my friend is right on this one.
I hope your man feels better by the way, and that the bug has left him alone by now

Lolastanley · 03/12/2019 21:34

No @sunnyflover I use Flo normally, last month I got Ovia, clue and Premom as they are all inconsistent. The premom reads it and keeps saying it’s too low. I struggle to hold my urine for 4 hours. I’ve I manage 2 I’m proud of myself. I will test over night, see if there are any changes. Might download that recommended app too.

Sammyclaire22 · 03/12/2019 22:21

I've downloaded the femometer app (impressed with the strip detection!) but I'm a bit confused- it says I'm due to ovulated tomorrow but my peak was yesterday going off opks? Wouldn't that mean i ovulated today?
Managed to dtd the previous two nights but he's tired tonight and on nights from tomorrow! Think we missed the ideal window if so :(

@lolastanley If you are weeing regularly then I would hazard a guess that it's not going dark as it's too dilute rather than you not getting a peak?

Anybody 3DPO..?
Quiffy · 03/12/2019 22:58

@sammyclaire this cycle I got my peak on the Tuesday and ovulated next day. DTD the previous two night should mean you’re in with a good chance.

Quiffy · 03/12/2019 22:59

Ps the femometer had me ovulating later in the calendar but then corrected itself to last Wednesday using my bbt and peak day

Lolastanley · 04/12/2019 03:52

@Sammyclaire22 I’d say it looked like you peaked 2/12 and ovulated then 12/36 hours later so 3/12?

I managed to hold my urine and not drink for 4 hours but barely visible. I’ll keep testing until AF as I have cramps

OP posts:
Sammyclaire22 · 04/12/2019 08:45

Thanks guys... ovia says I ovulated yesterday and my bbt went up a lot this morning so pretty sure I must have! Maybe the femometer will update later on then?! I still find this all confusing!
Not holding out much hope for this month either way as I think it's my left side so have to rely on my fallopian tube to wander over!
Do you temp as well @lolastanley? That might give you a clearer idea than poas if it's tricky?

Quiffy · 04/12/2019 09:44

@sammyclaire22 The femometer updated for me after maybe 2 or 3 days for me. It showed a little message on the homepage.

Lolastanley · 04/12/2019 12:09

Anybody have similar results to this?

Anybody 3DPO..?
