Huge congratulations @Chickoletta and @Russkispy! Hoping all goes smoothly!

I had a scan today, and all looking good at 13 Weeks! I am so relieved, I can't tell you... it's taken me until now to to accept this is really happening. I may even let myself get excited...!

@Realitysucks I've also already had the chat about being induced with a sweep at 38/39 Weeks! I also said no thanks... am terrified at the thought as my labour was natural too. I'm quite amazed that it's the standard procedure for older Mums actually. I understand about the dangers of meconium but don't quite understand why older Mums are more at risk than younger ones...? Must do some research.

Good luck to everyone else this month!

MrsBobDylan · 25/02/2020 21:17

Sorry to jump but I wondered if I could borrow you all for a bit? I have 3 kids, the last at 40. I ttc from 42 - 45 with several miscarriages before admitting defeat.

I am now 47 and the last couple of days I've been feeling a little nauseous and a bit more hormonal than usual. I did a pregnancy test at lunchtime today and it was positive, albeit quite feint. I (think) I am 10 dpo - we have sex so infrequently that I have based it on when we last dtd Blush

I know this will end in tears, I don't hold out much hope, but I just wanted to share it, I don't know why.

I have just had a pregnancy vitamin that I dug out from the back a cupboard as it feels like the responsible thing to do, even in these circumstances :)

Congratulations on your 13 week scan Nic, it is so lovely to see so many reasons for happiness on this thread.

PetraRabbit · 25/02/2020 23:59

@MrsBobDylan crossing fingers for you...you never know. I thought my pregnancy at nearly 44 would end in tears but I have a lovely 2 month old now so you never know! I'm dreaming of TTC a third baby when I'm 45 later this year- I understand why you're still hoping.

MrsBobDylan · 26/02/2020 00:17

That's lovely to hear @PetraRabbit, congratulations!

I have always felt that our 40s is the perfect age to have babies. It certainly was for me - I felt more confident of myself, I cared less what people thought and any 'bad habit' could just be enjoyed rather than fretted over (hence why I have a 6yo bed invader who sees our bed as his 😂)

I will test again in the morning and see what the line does. I am a ninja master in line reading!

Starlight39 · 26/02/2020 10:04

Congratulations @NicLondon1!

Congratulations also @MrsBobDylan. Everything crossed for you!

I got an appointment through for 19th March - it says on it referred by my GP but is in a different hospital than the recurrant miscarriage clinic for the area so that's a bit confusing! The letter doesn't say what the appointment is actually for or who it's with, just that it's in gynaecology. I'm thinking it'll be a scan/blood tests but I think I will call tomorrow when I don't have work to check.

NicLondon1 · 26/02/2020 10:08

Congrats @MrsBobDylan

And that's great news @Starlight39 - at least something is happening. Your time will come ! x

PMB123 · 26/02/2020 13:05

Congratulations @MrsBobDylan keeping my fingers crossed for you!

Question about OPKs. I used one for the first time this morning, and ended up with what I think is a positive!?! Both lines were very dark. Just read in the kit pamphlet that best time to take the test is afternoon, or at least after 10AM. Whoops- I took it at 6:30AM. Can't take another this afternoon, but can when I get home from work tonight. Made hubby get up early tho to DTD! He was happy and confused ;) Anyway, anyone have experience with OPKs? Never used them before so looking for advice.
Thanks!

Realladymarmalade · 26/02/2020 15:07

Congrats to the positive testers!

Just checking in if i may

Nic London I hope you are keeping well. Just turned 14 weeks today. I'm off work with a stinking cold, I dont have my usual ability bounce back with sleep and lemsip. I'm just so relieved that the morning sickness is over, and that so far this little boy is healthy.

Good luck to all !

Chatbash72 · 26/02/2020 17:02

Congratulations @MrsBobDylan I'm 47 too and we are still actively trying to increase our brood. Congratulations @Niclondon, @Chickoletta and anyone else I've missed.. xxxx

Congrats @MrsBobDylan, I hope all goes swimmingly xx

CD30 and still no signs of AF, still feeling the usual pre AF things but still no sore boobs at all, do you think this is simply just bc I didnt ovulate??

Fishergirl · 27/02/2020 13:22

Can I join your thread too please? I'm 42 and trying to conceive a sibling for our ds. Had a medically managed miscarriage last weekend that is still ongoing ☹️😣 Am undecided as to what to do at the moment. This is my 6th loss since Oct 17. I've followed this thread for ages and seeing so many of you get pregnant gives me hope but I'm wondering how much more can I take?

Springroll89 · 27/02/2020 19:24

I'm happy to see the good news on here. Congratulations on your BFP @chickoletta that's wonderful! I was waiting for the next one!

I understand why you just feel like sharing @MrsBobDylan and congratulations to you too! I really hope it works out.

I've not had the misery of recurrent miscarriages, just the one. Instead my body doesn't seem to be able get pregnant. Which is of course less traumatic. But I still find it sad every month then angry with myself for being like that!

I'm sorry someone asked me a while back about the naturopath I had a Skype call with and what else she recommended. She spent a lot of time talking about tracking CM to work out the best time. I kind of felt like saying surely if you DTD (or get the syringe out) every other day around the right time that should cover it. So I didn't find it that helpful.

She recommended more fluids for DH (apparently even beer) and me not drinking at all in the TWW (which I simply don't think I can do as I've tried it before and it didn't work so I don't see the point in giving up a small bit of fun when I am short on faith that it will make any difference).

There wasn't one thing she herself really recommended, it was more like she answered questions I had about supplements, but it didn't seem that there was one major thing I was missing out on. She works more by checking your charting, but I'm not sure I want to spend the money.

I had a 3 month awaited appointment with the gyno department cancelled at short notice and just got another one for next week. Going to ask about chlomid and whether they can test my thyroid.

I'm out this month but hope more BFPs are on their way. Fingers crossed

Springroll89 · 27/02/2020 19:35

Welcome @Fishergirl I'm sorry to hear about your miscarriage.

Chickoletta · 27/02/2020 21:56

Thanks for all the congratulations, ladies. It's started to sink in a bit now! I did another test today CD27 and it's very dark, so all good.

I've got really strong symptoms now too - need to eat very regularly or I feel nauseous, quite strong cramping pains low down and shattered. Went to bed for an hour once I'd put the kids to bed, ate tea and have gone back to bed!

Thinking about early signs, as I know people are always keen to hear about them, I was very moody last week (poor kids at home for half term got it in the neck for untidy rooms a lot!) and a bit queasy. Possibly TMI, but my wee also smelt different (strong) and I had quite bad wind. All in all, I'm sure I was a joy to be around!!

I told a close friend at work today. I won't tell anyone else for ages but just thought someone should know in case anything happens to me or I need her help covering for appointments etc. I totally understand the wisdom about not telling anyone until 12 week scan, but I also think that if the worst happens, I'm going to want someone to talk to. Also pleased to have MN for company!

bb077 · 27/02/2020 22:27

Hi all I would like to join I'm 42 and am TTC have 2 children 21 and 14 @Fishergirl I had a MMC 4 weeks ago today and had to have an emergency op after being given the tablets. I was so scared after but now am coming to terms with it an will TTC again after my first period which I'm still waiting for.

Baby dust to all of you ladies TTC
Would love to hear success stories
Quick question - what age is the oldest lady who had a baby on here ?

Starlight39 · 28/02/2020 10:14

@gizmo167 - how are you? Have you done a pregnancy test? Could you have ovulated a little later than you thought?

So sorry for your loss @Fishergirl - I had a medically managed MC (my second) nearly 3 weeks ago and it took a while this time for the bleeding and cramping to stop. Have you had testing for recurrant miscarriage? I've had 3 and have an appointment next month for tests.

@Springroll89 - I think it must be just as hard but in a different way to not get pregnant as to get pregnant but have miscarriages. Don't beat yourself up for feeling sad each month, I'm sure it's totally normal. Thanks for the info from the naturopath, that's interesting. I also feel that it isnt the pinpointing ov that is the hard bit so fair enough to not spend the money on her. Good luck for your appointment next week, hope it's really helpful. It must have been so disappointing to have the previous one cancelled.

@Chickoletta that's great news that the line is darker. That's good you have a work friend you can tell.

@bb077 hi and welcome. Sorry for your loss, hope your period arrives soon. I'm not quite sure about the oldest person who has had a baby but if you read back in the thread there are a few posts from those who are pregnant or have had babies in their 40s.

Starlight39 · 28/02/2020 10:21

@PMB123 sorry I missed your OPK question! I use them and find it's best to do a morning and evening test as I approach ovulation. Apparently some women don't have a very long surge so it's easy to miss and I think I'm one of them. I think they recommend testing in the evening as it's more likely you'll have the surge in the monring then it takes a few hours for it to show in your urine so afternoon/evening is best. I'd take the positive morning one as a positive though so that's great you woke your DH early!

Fishergirl · 28/02/2020 11:41

Thanks for the welcome :)
@Starlight39 I was on the waiting list for the recurrent miscarriage clinic for nearly a year. I had my first appointment just after I'd found out I was pregnant at the end of January. The consultant I saw who confirmed the miscarriage said that I'd have to go to the end of the queue again for another appointment. I'm in two minds whether to go private?

Can anyone advise on what tests I need to be asking for?

Starlight39 · 28/02/2020 12:10

That's a pain that you've had to wait so long @Fishergirl. You can ask your GP for a private referral for recurrant miscarriage or contact some directly. My GP referred me and I had a phonecall the next day but I've decided to stick with the NHS for now which seems fairly quick in my area. I'm not sure of the exact tests you should ask for but this is an example list: www.london-gynaecology.com/self-pay-packages/recurrent-miscarriage-testing/

Apparently around 50% of people get no answers though.

PMB123 · 28/02/2020 14:53

Thanks @ Starlight39 for your response. My first time ever using an OPK and didn't expect to catch the LH surge then...I'm glad I acted on it ;) Color has now been tapering off- I'm checking it AM and PM. Grabbed hubby for another go yesterday morning, and planning again tonight. Have had my usual twinges and OV cramps, so hopefully I've caught the timing right. I suppose I'm in my 2WW starting today!

Welcome @Fishergirl and @bb077. Sorry about both of your MC. I too just had one earlier this month. It was early, about 5 wks. Started on 2/14, and to my surprise, think I'm ovulating again already- so taking my chances yet again.

Hopefully we all get BFPs or answers soon!

Fishergirl · 28/02/2020 22:24

@Starlight39 Thank you for the list. Spoke to the doctor earlier and she has signed me off work for 2 weeks. I feel guilty for taking time off work - stupid!

Fishergirl · 28/02/2020 23:07

Meant to say good luck to everyone too Smile

Annie078 · 29/02/2020 20:19

Hi ladies, have followed this thread for well over a year, such a fantastic support and been a constant ray of hope for me in the ttc journey.

I’m 42, ttc #1 with 5 x recurrent mc. We had appt at rmc feb 19, everything came back fine & was told to carry on for a year. Since then, I was on ubiquinol, vit d spray and started Chinese acupuncture in July (fortnightly sessions, they’re not cheap!). All from the advice on this thread. From July we followed the smep and we got our bfp in Nov and I’m currently 21 weeks pregnant.

This thread was a great support (even if my engagement was pitiful) but I know how much seeing each bfp among you ladies, gave me hope that it might just happen to me, so I just wanted to share. Wishing you all the luck in the world on your journey’s xx

Chatbash72 · 29/02/2020 21:33

Congratulations @Annie078
Can I just rant!!!!! It's just soooooo unfair that Boris Johnson can father a child at 55 and our clocks slow in our 40's 🤬🤬😡😡😡😩😩
