Hi ladies . I’ve just finished my period today and my husband and I are now going to start ttc our first baby after having my Mirena removed last week.
Is anyone else TTC this month ? I’ve ordered some ovulation tests after I said I wouldn’t because I’ve read so many success stories on them so I thought I might as well just so I have some in case !

I’d love for people to share their journey with me ! I’m 24, 25 in two weeks . So excited for our journey . I’m trying to figure out this whole lingo on here and stuff sorry! X

Thanks girls ! I had a nice day . Just on my way back from Hull now after a weekend away with my friends .

I have such sore boobs ! Started last night , like the actual boob not the nipples (they’ve been sensitive for a few days now), but my breasts kill ! Like super sore ! @Konbanwa you still have a chance , some pregnancies don’t pick up til like a week after a missed period !

@Itsemily is that a normal PMS symptom for you? Sounds hopeful ☺️ but also I'm sorry they hurt, that's never nice! Glad you had a lovely weekend.

notalwaysalondoner · 20/10/2019 10:06

That sounds hopeful @Itsemily!! Fingers crossed!

We had a thirtieth birthday gathering in a pub yesterday for some friends who have a four month old. We had to go early as we already had evening plans, and everyone else there also had children. It’s the first time we’ve really been in that kind of social situation before (none of our close friends except one have children) and it just made me realise how ready I am for the next chapter! It’s funny how your perception of “normal” is so influenced by your peer group - including even when the “right” time is to have children! Do you guys have lots of close friends with children, or are you more the trailblazers of your peer group?

GaaaaarlicBread · 20/10/2019 11:15

@han2291 never ever had this in my life ! So I’m really hoping it’s a good sign and not PMS. I’m not due til next Friday , so I’m really having to keep a positive mindset and not symptom spot and avoid the urge to test too early ! It’s horrible . I’m also having back pain today which isn’t normal for me but equally is it because it’s cold up north and I’m not used to it 😂😂

@notalwaysalondoner I totally get that . It’s hard isn’t it . It really hits you ! I have four super close friends who have children , and about 3 friends who are still good friends but I don’t see them loads , who have them . I’m friends with people older than me generally so I’m a way it’s kind of the norm for me to be the ‘odd’ one out as it were . As there are some big age gaps x

@Itsemily Your symptoms definitely sound like it could be something! So exciting! When are you due to test? Fingers crossed for you!

I'm having quite bad cramping today so AF is definitely on the way. Had to take some paracetamol this morning to take the edge off!

@notalwaysalondoner I'm not the first in my friend group to have kids, but not that many of them do. It's quite funny when we all meet up though because what used to be a late night drinking session is now food and an early night! 😂 Gotta love your 30s!

I'm definitely over the late nights, drinking and partying though. Haven't been interested in that since my mid 20s and now I'm happy with a meal and a good catch up (maybe a board game or two as well!). Now we're ready to add being parents into that mix too!

Hope everyone is having a good weekend!

han2291 · 20/10/2019 11:46

@Itsemily I love that you're trying to blame back pain on the cold haha I hope you have a busy week to get your mind off it! You need a good TV show to binge on in the evenings 😁

@notalwaysalondoner none of my friends have babies yet but my best friend is pregnant and due in February. We always used to talk about our kids growing up together so every month now she's like "are you pregnant yet" haha I know it's light hearted but it's a bit of added pressure!

@Konbanwa board games sound like my kind of night too (though my husband and I can never play Monopoly because we're both too competitive 😂). Sorry you're cramping so badly, hope the paracetamol helps ease it and you can have a relaxing day.

GaaaaarlicBread · 20/10/2019 13:06

@han2291 lol I just don't want to make myself excited so I am trying to find other reasons for the symptoms. It's weird as I haven't had any major symptoms until yesterday, and today. The sore boobs and back ache are the top new ones. I am staying hopeful, as I have had good vibes since day once but I just don't want to hype myself up yet lol. I don't even dare test early in case of getting a negative with being too early.

@Konbanwa I am going to test Friday I think, I want to try and hold off before AF due! I might cave Wednesday lol . I do have clear blue tests and they do say you can test 4 days before due date but I don't want to do it too early!

han2291 · 20/10/2019 13:41

@Itsemily it's definitely hard not to get excited! I've got a good feeling for you too.. and what an awesome 25th birthday present to yourself it would be ☺️

GaaaaarlicBread · 20/10/2019 13:52

@han2291 oh gosh I really hope it’s good ! But when you read about people’s pms symptoms it’s like , so many of them match to that but I never had this when I had periods before . Like I rarely had cramps even . I just had the full on flow of the devils blood and major leakage but never anything else haha
So I’m really hoping it’s good. I’ve had a lot of ‘school glue’ discharge the last few days too which is not like me ever , even when I had the coil. So it’s all very new .
I’ve just looked on clear blue instructions and they say with my period and ovulation date this month, I can test on Wednesday morning with a chance of it giving an accurate reading !! X

Hi ladies! Just got back from my holiday in Croatia. @Itsemily sounds like you are having all the right symptoms!! I will keep my fingers crossed for you. Me and my partner got too excited and brought a First Response Early Result test which and gave me a BFN Sad, we were pretty disappointed especially as I was showing all the symptoms. They being said, I am not due on till Wednesday so perhaps it was too early? What do you ladies think?
Hope everyone had a nice weekend! Xx

GaaaaarlicBread · 20/10/2019 17:41

@leabri I hope you had a lovely time ! I bet the weather was amazing . That’s most probably too early . Try again on Wednesday x

DH has told me he can see a significant change in my breasts 😂😂

LeaBri · 20/10/2019 18:36

@itsemily you are right! It was probably silly to test that early! Fingers crossed for a Wednesday!! Thank you had an amazing time and weather was lush!
Haha that’s fantastic 😂 boob changes are always a good sign!!

Hi everyone, we're now officially TTC. I'm due to ovulate in the next few days. I use the Flo app to track my period, so that's what is says anyway! I was deliberating an ovulation test from Amazon, but there were negative reviews even for the clear blue tester...

Obviously I've made the mistake of reading about how long it might take me to conceive. I'm nearly 34 so I'm worrying about it already Blush

Lea84TTC · 20/10/2019 19:08

Hi everyone, I hope you don’t mind me joining. I’m 35 and just started TTC for baby number one last month. I’m trying not to get myself stressed out but I’ve become obsessed with it. My boyfriend is very much like it will happen when it happens and tells me not to stress but I can’t seem to help it. After a month of trying I had a very very light period that lasted slightly longer than normal. I had none of my normal monthly symptoms and have been left with an achy back. I spend a lot of time looking at information on the internet and it’s become an obsession. I don’t know whether to get an monitor or thermometer or just keep trying and wait and see. My cycles are irregular which don’t help and also as a child a family member said I’d never have children and this is always in the back of my head. I hope I don’t sound crazy I’m just desperate for things to work for us 🙏

Konbanwa · 20/10/2019 19:59

@Lea84TTC and @CurbsideProphet Welcome to the group! It's great to have a supportive place to chat about TTC 👍

@Itsemily Eeeeeep! It sounds like you might get a positive on Wednesday! 🤞

GaaaaarlicBread · 20/10/2019 20:00

@CurbsideProphet welcome! We have all said on here to avoid ovulation kits until you really need them, as a lot of us became a bit obsessed over tracking etc and it adds unnecessary stress! Try and monitor your cervical mucus and natural things like that in between, and try and save money and stress!
Keep us updated on here, we are here for everyone! It's a lovely community thread.

@Lea84TTC I think men are more relaxed as for them they're ready to go most the time, whereas women have such a small window of fertility each month and time seems to fly by. And we naturally have the need for a child I think. It's really difficult. Can I ask why someone told you you won't have children?
Keep in touch with us and try not to google too many things , as it really does take over your mind! x

CurbsideProphet · 20/10/2019 20:04

Thank you both Smile
I only have 2 friends with children, the others aren't planning to have any. I don't have anyone to talk to about it! I have epilepsy and take a low dose of medication, so while the risk is very low it's still there.
So much to consider!

Lea84TTC · 20/10/2019 20:08

It was my late nan who said I wouldn’t and no idea why..... my mum gets really mad about it now as it has had such an impact on me. This month my period was about a week early and I had no symptoms before hand. It was really light for me but lasted longer, I can’t seem to get rid of the back ache. I’m starting to think it maybe stress because I keep looking for symptoms. I’m worried because I’m 35 and only just trying. I was with someone previously who had a vasectomy but left me after cheating on me. So had until now thought I would never have children. I’m also a teacher and thought that would be enough but I now desperately want my own. I don’t know whether to test for ovulation or not. This is all new to me and think I’m driving my close friends nuts 😕

Konbanwa · 20/10/2019 20:40

Well guys I have had bad cramping all day like I get during AF but haven't had any bleeding so can't even count today as cd1. Sigh!

Ended up having a chinese takeaway for tea and watched a film with DH to cheer me up! Gotta love salt and pepper chicken and a comedy film!

han2291 · 21/10/2019 00:55

@Itsemily I don't want to excite you even more haha but I have a good feeling for you! I think we'll all be holding our breath waiting to hear from you on Wednesday. Do you think you'll do a test then or wait until Friday?

@LeaBri probably too early.. good luck for Wednesday ☺️

@CurbsideProphet like Itsemily said OPK's are a rabbit hole and once you go down there you'll never come out (but I'm such a hypocrite because I'm using them haha). Using the cheap Amazon ones is going ok for me so far but I have read reviews where people say they don't work out for them. You could always buy a pack and give them a go if you're curious.

@Lea84TTC you can always vent to us, we're all going through the exact same thing ☺️ try not to stress too much, hard not to I know. You'll end up adding pressure to yourself and that's definitely not great for your hormones. Do you have any hobbies or things you like to do? Try focusing on them more to get your mind off of TTC.

@Konbanwa but if AF hasn't arrived is there not a chance still? Pretty sure you can still get the cramping when you're due but just not bleed! Keeping my fingers crossed for you.

GaaaaarlicBread · 21/10/2019 07:22

@CurbsideProphet I have epilepsy too !

OP posts:
GaaaaarlicBread · 21/10/2019 07:26

@Lea84TTC don’t worry too much about age yet . I’ve seen on a few threads on this site that there are some women in their 40s, so 30s is nothing .
I personally wouldn’t test for ovulation as I know how stressed it made me feel . And then your partner will find out and it just causes so many potential problems lol I’ve not told any of my friends because I don’t want anyone knowing we are trying yet . As I always get paranoid that they’ll keep asking if I’m pregnant yet and if I’m not it’ll be sad .

@Konbanwa surely if AF is Late then that means there’s still a chance ? !

@han2291 DH has told me to test Wednesday morning with a cheapie , clear blue Thursday and Friday no matter what the results are . After seeing my breast changes he was like em you need to test Wednesday lol

OP posts:
Konbanwa · 21/10/2019 07:29

@han2291 You are right that there still might be a chance if I haven't started bleeding yet, but I just don't want to get my hopes up!

A BFN on Saturday and then cramps from hell yesterday make me think that my uterus might be a hostile environment this month! Ha! We'll see 🤷🏻‍♀️

How are things going at your end? Have you stoped bleeding and are waiting for ovulation?

@Lea84TTC It can be a really stressful process, and I think that when you really start TTC you suddenly realise how much learning you have to do about it! I've not started on OPKs yet, but I am tempted for my next cycle. It is a rabbit hole of anxiety I'm not looking forward to though...

@CurbsideProphet I just bought some cheap ones from Sainsbury's that were £3ish for 5 strips. Maybe just chuck some in your trolley when you do your next shop? I do know that quite a few people seem to like the clear blue ones with the smiley face as they can be easier to read, but they are much more expensive!

Konbanwa · 21/10/2019 07:33

@Itsemily Yes I suppose I'm still in the game this month until bleeding definitely arrives. This whole thing is driving me crazy at the moment and I feel like I have no idea what my body is doing!

It is so exciting about you testing on Wednesday and that you are seeing breast changes etc! Can't wait to see if you have been lucky this month! I have everything crossed for you! 🤞🤞
