Ok, so I'm due to be married next year, and move country full time to start my new life. (I live with my fiance full time in Paris , but I'm English and have to visit now and then, but I plan to end my tenancy etc after marriage and be here full time) then eventually move to Tunisia (his country of origin and where his family live, my choice to live there but will take some time as he is well established here in his current role, good job and would be hard, and take time, to do the same in Tunisia, so this will be a few years away yet). So we have it all planned out.

However, we visited Tunisia a couple of weeks ago and things got a bit weird for me, cycle wise. So I'll lay out below the time line and symptoms as best I can:

My cycle is extremely regular, I can pin point everything in my cycle without tracking or timing anything. It's just so regular that I came to know my body very well. I'd say my cycle is about 29 days.

My last period, before our trip, was 19 June and my periods are very short (3 days or so). We had sex during the time leading up to the trip, which was on the 6th July. We also managed to sneak in a couple of shags whilst there, around the 12th and then the 15th. On the last few days there, I began to lose appetite, and had random throwing up, and felt nauseous. I could only seem to eat fresh almonds Confused
On the way home I threw up twice and felt extremely sick. My moods were very extreme too; in a way I never had before. Crying when I usually wouldn't, pure rage Etc.
So we get back, and the sickness and nausea seem to lift, then a few days later I was sick, then again a few days later sick again (out of nowhere) with nausea between those episodes. Moods still wierd, no other symptoms. The sickness and nausea were totally random; not something you'd expect from a tummy bug for example.

So now I have missed my period by a fair bit. Moods still up and down very emotional, nose like a blood hound, my cervix feels weird (not like it usually does at any time of my cycle) and the same for discharge. No sore boobs but my back is agony, lower back. Slight cramping on and off similar to pre period but less painful, and the pain now and then favours the right side. Slight dietary changes. Sleeping a lottttttttttt!

But.. no positive test? I did a digital first before missed period but way too early. Since then I have used the same tests over and over (pink dye two line ones) and always neg. One of them I thought I saw a line, but it was a squinter and a half and I couldn't even pick it up on pics, even using camera. To be fair I only used fmu once but that was a clear neg anyway. No idea what's going on! No blood at all.

Fiance is convinced of it, I am too but also I am obviously wary because of the tests! This would be my first. And as I said above, we have a plan and this would kind of put a spanner in the works. Although would be 100 percent accepted and happy too.

To note; I am not on contraception and we didn't use condoms. Pretty stupid way to divert our plan Hmm but hey ho, baby would be loved and welcome. Just would need to change said life plan. So I would be happy with a yes or a no. Also I'm pretty certain we had sex at the time I would have ovulated.

We plan to go to the doctor, but I'd just like some opinions please. Being a possible new mum and not knowing is scary for me. I never had a mum (She killed herself when I was 13) so I don't have mum around for this type of advice. I'd really appreciate "mum" advice please CakeFlowers

Hiya,

It sounds like you have a lot going on. Could stress be causing your absebse of periods and causing the vomiting too? It's strange that you have so many symptoms of pregnancy but no positive test. I would recommend that you see your doctor for a blood test to figure out wht's going on.

LadyInParis · 28/07/2019 22:22

@Squiff70 Thank you. I thought the same thing re the stress, but at the risk of sounding woe is me, I have been through so much terrible stress in the past, which didn't ever affect my cycle. And was much much worse. So I do accept it could be stress, but I also half ruled that out because it's never before affected my cycle. But the doc and blood tests are for sure a good idea and we plan to do this next week. It's just so difficult in the meantime xx

Threw up again just now. It was a bad one, my poor fiance who usually holds my head ended up nearly throwing up himself 😳 and that's after the time in Tunisia when I threw up at the side of the road and he egged me on to get it out and I then proceeded to throw up all over his feet. In flip flops. So last time I threw up was 3 days ago I think. Now today. My god this is awful. If this is pregnancy, then I'm scared to death of what is to come.. The baby would be less than a grain of salt at this point and all these things going on and taking over my body already, I'm scared to death. Obviously I'm going to get blood tests etc as no-one can answer this for me but them. Just venting. Envy (not envy!) I just woke up feeling so sick. I hate this!! Whatever the hell it is 😥

It's like my body isn't my own anymore and I don't even have a reason why yet 😭

Can you go to the doctor for a blood test? I didn't get a positive poas test just a blood test. Nausea and vomiting didn't luck in until 6-7 weeks. Roughly how far gone could you be?

LadyInParis · 29/07/2019 08:14

Thanks @CustardCreamLover
I would say, if you base it from the last period as the docs do, just going into 6th week or so. So I just had lovely cup of tea to soothe my throat and calm me and nope. Straight back up that came. I know that in an hour or so I'll be fine and be able to keep things down, based on the last few sickness sessions so to speak. But for now it's not so pleasant. I'm so damn thirsty I want to down a load of water but at this moment no chance. To be honest I thought the sickness came early too but it was the thing that made me fiance say 'I think you're pregnant'. It didn't occur to me. I did some reading and it is possible for early sickness. Though this is taking the piss and I'm not at all impressed. Hmm And of course the docs it will be asap. Only they can tell me but I appreciate your story, thank you. I thought if it doesn't come up on a urine it won't on a blood test. Glad to know that isn't the case. This feels awful though. When does it stop? The one thing I can't stand is being sick. I can withstand any pain you like, but being sick I am such a wuss about. I hate it. And I hate him for not having to feel this way and be able to go about his day happily Angry (not really. He's been great but I get this feeling very strongly off and on) xx

And the fucking fan is doing my head in. It's too hot without it but I have to turn it off every two minutes cos I fucking HATE the constant WEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. God. I'm so sorry. Seems I'm not in such a good mood this morning. Even the air freshener I told him pack it in its too strong smelling for the spray one. Which is not usual for me. I'm usually a spray as you like but right now it is so so strong. What the hell is going on I hate this. I know the docs. I'll be going. I just need to vent before I throw the fan out the window and the spray along with it... Sad

I was quite lucky with being sick it only happened a handful of times but it was sudden and violent! I just felt sick all the time and completely went off all food. I lived on cheese, bread and fruit and even that was a struggle at times. I found that fizzy orange (fanta I suppose in UK but I'm not there) helped because it was just sugary enough to give me some energy (I was knackered), the fizzy helped with the nausea and it tasted ok. Went back to normal about 18 weeks I think but I can't quite remember exactly. I know it was well into 2nd trimester! Sorry you're feeling bad. Hopefully you will get some answers soon.

CustardCreamLover · 29/07/2019 08:35

Yea hating strong smelling things was a bit symptom for me as well. I'd forgotten that. Couldn't stand the smell of the fridge 🤮. I understand the frustration. Can you have a cool shower or bath? They helped me a lot (I was pregnant last summer and it was horribly hot here).

LadyInParis · 29/07/2019 08:42

@CustardCreamLover Thank you. It's just so damn frustrating. All signs point to pregnant yet all tests say no. I suppose I'm lucky in some ways, in that I don't throw up every day, or all day when I do. Yet at least. Fingers crossed. Some women like yourself can't keep a thing down. For me I just throw up any old thing so I'm lucky to be able to mostly eat and drink normally. I'll get to the docs and see what is going on. To be honest I can't think of anything else it could be besides pregnancy (and I have tried to find anything!) Because it's just bad timing. But again, a baby would be welcome loved and we would be happy. Would just need to revise our planned out future. That's what you get for being irresponsible re contraception I suppose! But we are in a lucky position in that we are a happy unit, financially stable, and both on the same page re being happy whatever the outcome. In that sense I really can't complain. Ps I LOVE custard creams but that thought right now Envy I'll bet I end up craving them later. I don't know if I'll get them in Paris. Grr! Last night it was a weird concoction of choc milkshake with choc yoghurt and vanilla ice cream Hmm Thanks for your help! X

LadyInParis · 29/07/2019 08:48

Gosh the bath thing. Well in Paris a bath is not easy to come by, it's all so cramped. This current apartment has only a shower and without my fiance there I'm strangely terrified of showing alone and falling. Another thing to add; me being unusually fearful of everything and also v v clingy. Total opposite of usual me. So I have to have showers in the eve when he's home and can watch over me Hmm I'm so ridiculous, it's embarassing and not me at all! Yes the smell thing is bad, I'll pick up a scent like a hound, and sniff (I'm not even joking) around until I find the source.. to some odd looks from the fiance.. Grin

LadyInParis · 29/07/2019 08:50

Unless it's during my sickness. Then i can't stand the smell of anything at all! X

@CustardCreamLover

Just had blood test, it's just after 9am here so we went at 7.30am to miss big queues. So I'll know by tonight or tomorrow morning.
Last night I ate a big fat juicy delicious Big Mac. Not a big deal right? Except I haven't eaten meat for YEARS and the look/smell/thought of eating meat normally makes me feel sick to my stomach. I ate the Big Mac like it was my last meal on earth. It was so delicious I ate like a pig, half of it on my face 🤣 So strange for me. Now I'm scared that if it comes back negative, then there is something seriously wrong with me. 😫

Either way; negative I can carry on with life plan. Positive then baby welcome. Either way all is good, I'll just need more investigation as to what exactly is going on right now. I'll update. I should be around 6 weeks going from last period.

I'll let you know!

OP posts:
LadyInParis · 30/07/2019 08:21

And @Squiff70 too, I'll update. Thanks both for the advice!

OP posts:
CustardCreamLover · 30/07/2019 08:40

Fingers crossed that it's pregnancy! Sounds like it is. At one point I desperately had to have KFC. I've never had KFC in my life but at that point I thought if I didn't eat it I'd die 😂. Pregnancy does some weird and wonderful things to you!

LadyInParis · 30/07/2019 09:05

@CustardCreamLover 😂😂😂😂 had me laughing I was the same last night! No meat in YEARS. And I needed, NEEDED a Big Mac, immediately! So odd!! And not a single bit of hesitation in sight, I was on that Big Mac like a starving dog!!

So odd all these symptoms no pos urine. It makes me worry about the blood being neg. Then I will look crazy, and also have something weirdly wrong with me that mimics every single pregnancy symptom ever 🤔 I'm so scared of bloods I hate needles that I dug my nails in my fiances hand. He complained and on the way home I loudly ranted at him on the fact that I am going to be picked, probed, stabbed with needles, things stuck up me, then my vagina ruined and his single contribution, his SINGLE DAMN CONTRIBUTION WAS A BLOODY ORGASM!!!!!!! And that he better get used to sore hands/arms if I am indeed pregnant! 😂 I think it'll be positive. I can't think of any illness that mimics every single pregnancy symptom.

As I say I'd be happy either way. But in all honesty, now I have had all these symptoms, I have kind of bonded to the idea of having a baby and although it would mean my life plan would be in tact, I would be really upset if it is neg. I have adjusted to the idea now and I do want it to be pos more than I want my life plan. We can make a new life plan. Please send baby dust or whatever the sayings are nowadays haha! And thank you. I'll update xx

OP posts:
LadyInParis · 31/07/2019 08:54

So the bloods came back negative and have left me utterly flabbergasted. Still no period or bleeding at all and all that has changed since the initial list of symptoms in my thread is that I no longer am having mild cramps or lower back pain. Maybe a slight twinge now and then in my lower uterus but not anything particularly noteworthy pain wise. I haven't been sick since last time I said I had on here. But even this isn't unusual. Apart from the first lot of vomiting very early on, my sickness is something that comes every other day or every couple of days and is totally unpredictable and very unexpected and random. So I can't say that the throwing up has stopped since the pattern is so random. I have had a couple of "uh oh I'm going to throw up" moments but never did. And have eaten meat again.

So its very very odd. No idea what is going on with me. We just had the bloods at a blood testing clinic. Literally a room where they take your bloods and email the results later. No doctor has been seen yet.

Any ideas here? Please?

It is likely that you've picked up an illness in Tunisia or developed something like a UTI. You want to be pregnant so you're interpreting illness as pregnancy symptoms.

LadyInParis · 31/07/2019 09:01

Its been 40 days since my last period finished. But this cycle in total including the period would be 43 days now. (Very short periods, normal for me)

OP posts:
ShowOfHands · 31/07/2019 09:04

Occasionally, a woman has a cycle where she doesn't ovulate. This is normal. Usually related to illness, stress etc. It will mess up your cycle briefly.

LadyInParis · 31/07/2019 09:10

@ShowOfHands Thanks. I have had uti before. This is nothing like uti. But I appreciate your input. Same for an illness. It doesn't fit any illness pattern I know of, that it has all of those kind of symptoms. It is so odd. I'm worried there is something seriously wrong with me medically to be honest. No idea what but obviously related to my uterus or something. And to be honest I did want to be at one point, but it would have totally screwed my life plan so I would be happy either way. It seemed all was pregnancy symptoms so I became happy and wanted to be. Now it's not, I'm not happy about any of this and simply want answers. I want either a period or a pregnancy. Either one. Because this is driving me mad. Really truly. I just want to know what is going on. We can try for a child any time really, so that isn't an issue. But we can't while this is going on. Neither can I get on with a normal life while this is going on. I'm sorry. It's driving me mad. If I had my period now I would be happy. X

OP posts:
LadyInParis · 31/07/2019 09:15

@ShowOfHands A fair few people suggested that it could be stress in the beginning when the symptoms weren't so bad. But I always dismissed it because I have been through so much stress in my life but never ever has it caused this to happen, nor affected my cycle in any way. But I think I have to accept that may be you are right. Maybe it is stress. Just because stress never affected my cycle before doesn't mean it won't now. And then the stress from that lead in to all this possible pregnancy stress and that made it worse etc etc. Like a horrible circle of stress then symptoms then more stress. So yes, I have to accept this could be a strong possibility. I need to just go and see a doctor. Thank you, I really appreciate your input @ShowOfHands

I know how frustrating and anxious making it can be when the body you know doesn't behave as it should but I don't think there's anything seriously wrong. You could just be v stressed and have a strange virus. Can you see the Gp just to rule out a UTI?

I hope it all settles down soon. You have some exciting times to look forward to.

Michellebops · 01/08/2019 07:18

Just read this thread.

Sorry to hear there's no conclusion for you at the moment.

Have you heard of phantom pregnancy?

Your body can mimic pregnancy, sickness, swelling of boobs and belly etc all except a positive test.
