Hi guys,

I’ve done a few threads on here for ttc but this month I am in a new positive state of mind and I am determined to get that BFP!!

I’ve been to the GP today who said my bloods have come back fine for hormones etc and just that I am very low on vit d (which I knew from last check up and have been taking vitamin tabs twice a day) anyway....

She has said there is nothing to suggest any infertility or that I’m not ovulating and that perhaps I am ovulating and not timing it. I was convinced at this appointment I would be prescribed chlomid, but no she said that I just need to come back in 2 months with a new blood test and see from there...

I came away disheartened and a little bit like I’d given up until I thought hold on she said there was no reason to suggest in infertile or have a problem therefore I am fertile and need to work harder! So I got online ordered loads of OPKs, preseed and a basal thermometer.

I also downloaded Sperm Meets Egg and I am determined this month to follow rule by rule. Sorry that was very long! But I am due AF any minute so will be tracking from about day 8 anybody want to do the journey with me??

Again sorry for how long that was!!

Thanks @Skyla01 something is telling me I won’t get AF this month, but I was sure once you get symptoms than surely you get a BFP when you test or am I wrong?

Sorry for tmi but my nipple area has gotten larger too, as I said before I’ve kept a symptoms diary this time so I don’t get caught out this month. If I don’t come on by Friday I’ll retest.

*caught out next month

Hey ladies sorry been silent. Have been taking a break from all this baby making related but I'm excited to be starting SMEP this weekend. Going to start testing ovulation from CD8 as I have once ovulated as early as day 11 and I'll see what happens.

@AllHopeAndNoResults sorry you haven't had AF yet but keeping my fingers crossed for you either way! Good idea about keeping a symptoms diary, I think I'll steal that idea. How are your spirits generally? I've got really good vibes for you.

Hey @Jen306 how have you been getting on? Are you st TWW yet?

tinyole · 16/07/2019 13:38

@Nobhobs I'm also using natural cycles. I've found it was really rubbish at predicting my ovulation but was great at telling me when AF was coming. Congrats glad you were so successful with it!

tinyole · 16/07/2019 13:40

@Skyla01 how are you getting along? Have you started the TWW? I'm desperate to get there but know it's equally agonising

AllHopeAndNoResults · 16/07/2019 13:46

@tinyole hey! I think that was a good idea to just give yourself a little break from it. It takes up so much head space doesn’t it? Glad you are excited to get going with SMEP I hope you relaxed and saved your energy for all the DTD you’re about to do 😂

Feel free to keep a diary, I think it saves us trying to remember if we have anything different one month.

I think once AF arrives I’ll be having a break from it so I can start SMEP with a fresh head. I actually think I’ve convinced myself so much so that my body is doing something a bit like a phantom? I’m not sure but surely I’d get a BFP by now or no still to early?

I’m going to try and chill out!

Roll on this cycle for you! Wish AF or BFP would come soon so I can know where I am at this month and start with you!! Keep us all updated x

@AllHopeAndNoResults I don't think pregnancy symptoms appear much before 6 weeks. Anything before that might be general hormonal symptoms which could be bfp or af. So I'm afraid symptoms won't always = bfp (except good going morning sickness peehaps). You should get bfp from around 14dpo but if you don't know when you ovulated you can't always work that out.

@tinyole welcome back! I am still waiting for ovulation. Hoping it'll happen within the next week! Got flashing smiley on cb which = high fertility, will keep testing until I get a peak result.

AllHopeAndNoResults · 16/07/2019 21:53

@skyla01 yeah I’ve been reading up and you’re right so I’m not thinking too much into it now. It’s the really sore boobs and I was sicky last night and this morning, coupled up with feeling dizzy.

I think I’m symptom spotting too much now and I’m just going to leave it alone, if I don’t come on by next month then I’ll obviously test. I have pelvic exams and swabs on Thursday so I suppose I’ll find out one way or the other.

I’m so sorry Everyone I’ve been so immersed in my stoopid messed up body/cycle I haven’t really asked how you all were getting on? Where we all at with the plan or your plan?

OP posts:
tinyole · 16/07/2019 22:55

@AllHopeAndNoResults wow what a day. Literally just got home been run ragged.

It's never too late for a BFP. I don't want to get your hopes up but as we keep saying, you're not out until AF shows up so keep waiting

A break is definitely a good idea. It just helped my recentre and realise that life goes on regardless of what happens. I was getting a little obsessive so it's good to not stress yourself out too much!

We're actually in Paris the first weekend of Aug which will be perfect for DTD lol

AllHopeAndNoResults · 17/07/2019 07:46

@tinyole morning, this is why I decided to take the move to work from home 😂 it can be lonely and boring sometimes but I do not miss the whirlwind of life everyday 😂

I agree it’s not good and I have become obsessive, AF hasn’t arrived yet but I keep feeling like she will, my symptoms seem to have all disappeared so I’m even more certain AF is just late this month (cruel or what?!) and I’ll just take a back seat for a bit.

Did you see my post a few days back about Agnus Castus? Have you heard of it and is it something you might be interested in?

Woooo Paris, the city of lurrrrrve! You know you hear a lot of stories of women conceiving whilst away because they are less stressed and not so focused on dtd for conception so fingers crossed Paris will set it all up for you 😁

OP posts:
tinyole · 17/07/2019 13:57

@AllHopeAndNoResults I wish I could work from home!! I work in healthcare so that's not an option for me would have loved that. How long have you been working from home? I would be in pyjamas all day long.

I haven't heard of agnus castus but I'll have a look. I'm up for trying most things to be honest

Yes I'm hoping the time in Paris will be fruitful 😉 although I think I would have ovulated by then! So it's a nice place to do the TWW

Do you have any trips coming up?

tinyole · 17/07/2019 14:01

@AllHopeAndNoResults I just read about agnus castus online and it sounds great! I'm borderline with my luteal phase as it's quiet short at 10-12 days and this says it helps with that so I'm going to try it! Have you given it a go at all?

Skyla01 · 17/07/2019 14:03

@tinyole what cycle day are you on? Has smep started yet for you?

I've had 4 days of flashing smiley on cb, apparently you can get up to 9 days of thst before static smiley so I'm just waiting. Trying to DTD every second day now. I haven't noticed any fertile cm yet either. Based on last cycle I'm still 11 days away from ovulation according to Flo, but hope I ovulate earlier this month. With long cycles you need extra patience!

@AllHopeAndNoResults I personally try not to symptom spot, I'm not sure it means much and it can stress you out. Some folk love it though...!

AllHopeAndNoResults · 17/07/2019 15:57

@Skyla01 I am one of those folk!
I don’t think it’s loving to do it as such it’s more like when you want something so desperate you look for any bit of hope

@tinyole working from home has it’s downfalls and I do tend to scroll on Mumsnet a lot! I’ve only been doing it from home a few months tbh. Healthcare sounds interesting I wish I could do something like that and being a bit more hands on with people.

With the Agnus Castus, I haven’t given it a go yet, I’m waiting for AF to arrive before I do anything but I’ll be ordering some Friday. Shall we start it together? For you though read up properly with what suits you because I know loads of people say they take the 1000mg but Holland and Barrett sell it by the 4g which is obviously a huge difference but it doesn’t make any affect really.

I think it’s because it’s said to be a really powerful herb like a natures chlomid so read carefully before you decide in case it’s not beneficial for you but there are SO many success stories!!
As I say we could try it together??

No plans to go away as of yet but it sounds as though Paris could be good for you to just get away and relax and maybe naturally your mind won’t be so on conceiving just for a bit. Let me know what about Agnus Castus (AC) for future ref 😂😂

OP posts:
tinyole · 17/07/2019 18:01

@Skyla01 I'm on CD6 and apparently due to ovulate next Wednesday so we'll probably get going this weekend! Because my DH is slow to refill have to choose the days carefully to give us the best shot so not sure which days we'll do yet.

Have you always had long cycles? I came off the progesterone only pill after 8yrs + and my cycles are still regulating but I think they are a little too short.

tinyole · 17/07/2019 18:11

@AllHopeAndNoResults it's a plan! I'll do a bit more reading about the dosages. I saw some on amazon i was planning on ordering and we can start it together and see how we get on. I'm planning to get started with SMEP this weekend so fingers crossed.

Have got had your appointment yet? Just remembered you were waiting for your test results right? I read a bit more in my book about not ovulating and it says it's normal for women to have some cycles when they don't ovulate. Anyway let's see what happens.

I'll be in Paris I've ovulated so will pack a million pregnancy tests with me I bet they'll think I'm crazy if i get stopped in customs 😂😂

VenusStarr · 17/07/2019 18:16

We're smep cycle buddies @tinyole, I'm cd6 today and due to ovulate on Tuesday. My opks arrived today so just done one and there's a faint line. I'm seeing a reflexologist on a couple of weeks and she wants me to chart my bbt, so started that yesterday.

AllHopeAndNoResults · 17/07/2019 18:23

@tinyole I think it’ll be a really bad idea to take tons of preggo tests to Paris 😂 if being Paris can not distract you from trying to test then none of us have hope 😂

I have my pelvic exams and swabs tomorrow so fingers crossed AF doesn’t actually show until after otherwise I’ll be waiting another month.

I’ve read so much about ovulation that I could probably write my own book! I think I’ve just come to the conclusion that something as natural as baby making is so individual and differs from one person to the other that there isn’t a straight forward answer or solution.

I’ve read peoples stories who put their lives on Chlomid being a miracle drug and the cause for twins, triplets, siblings etc and others who say it just didn’t work even after having it extended so I think we just have to get our BFP in our own way but AC sounds very promising and it’s natural so hopefully won’t cause any disruption.

Are you looking forward to your trip?

OP posts:
AllHopeAndNoResults · 17/07/2019 18:26

@VenusStarr how exciting! How do you feel, positive about the plan? Have you temped before? Hopefully your OPKs will pick up ovulation soon and you can get started!

OP posts:
VenusStarr · 17/07/2019 18:34

I did track my temperature last year for a couple of months @AllHopeAndNoResults, I found it really stressful! But I think having someone else look at it will help. I drove myself mad comparing to charts online, looking for clues etc.

Feel like we're throwing everything at this cycle 🤞

How's things with you?

AllHopeAndNoResults · 17/07/2019 18:40

@VenusStarr it’s very difficult isn’t it? How long did it take you to get to grips with your own temp? I’m not sure what’s supposed to be elevated or not 🤔

I agree we are really going for it and I think there will be at least one BFB this time next month. Hopefully for us all though. Keep us updated and perhaps we could share charts and tips. 😁

OP posts:
VenusStarr · 17/07/2019 18:53

I'm not sure I really did get to grips with it @AllHopeAndNoResults but my cycle is fairly regular so it helped to get a rough idea of when I ovulate. As my cycles are short I was worried that my luteal phase was too short but it's 12 days (and turns out the app I was using was giving me the wrong fertile week!) so glad I did it. Both months were different though, one had a definite jump but the other was a slow rise, so had to wirk backwards to see the actual ovulation day.

Yes I'll share my chart and I'll let you know what the reflexologist's interpretation / views are. I'm quite interested to see if she picks up on anything. I'm not seeing her til after my ovulation though but will still be good, am looking forward to it. Having a 90 minute consultation plus an hour session after

tinyole · 17/07/2019 19:14

@VenusStarr awesome yay for being on the same cycle day! Hopefully we all get great results.

I've been temping for 3 months and only just getting the hang of my chart and starting to understand it. I think Ava is better but means i'll have to learn to understand another chart but ah well all worth it! I can post mine from natural cycles so everyone can compare. Do let me know how you get on with reflexologist!

tinyole · 17/07/2019 19:20

@AllHopeAndNoResults I think I'll go mad if I don't have a secret stash of tests to take with me so I might as well enjoy it as just take a test when I need to. Gosh I sound like an addict in need of a fix.

Good luck tomorrow let us know how you get on! Would be just like AF to turn up when you don't want it but hoping it turns up the day after 😂

Really excited about the trip thanks! It'll be needed as we'll be getting super busy DTD next week so it will probably be a sex break 🤣🤣. Haven't booked anywhere yet we just have our Eurostar tickets so we're just going to take it easy.

I've seen a few things about clomid too and I've heard it work for loads but I think I definitely need to be careful. I was on a progesterone only pill so I wonder if my body is just less responsive to it.

How is your DP finding the process?

AllHopeAndNoResults · 17/07/2019 19:28

@VenusStarr I’ve heard really positive things about reflexology and conception so hopefully it will be a good outcome for you, even if it’s just understanding how to chart effectively. Which app did you use, I find that most are hit and miss but like @tinyole has the Ava watch it seems to be effective.
