Sperm Meets Egg (hopefully)

Hi guys,

I’ve done a few threads on here for ttc but this month I am in a new positive state of mind and I am determined to get that BFP!!

I’ve been to the GP today who said my bloods have come back fine for hormones etc and just that I am very low on vit d (which I knew from last check up and have been taking vitamin tabs twice a day) anyway....

She has said there is nothing to suggest any infertility or that I’m not ovulating and that perhaps I am ovulating and not timing it. I was convinced at this appointment I would be prescribed chlomid, but no she said that I just need to come back in 2 months with a new blood test and see from there...

I came away disheartened and a little bit like I’d given up until I thought hold on she said there was no reason to suggest in infertile or have a problem therefore I am fertile and need to work harder! So I got online ordered loads of OPKs, preseed and a basal thermometer.

I also downloaded Sperm Meets Egg and I am determined this month to follow rule by rule. Sorry that was very long! But I am due AF any minute so will be tracking from about day 8 anybody want to do the journey with me??

@AllHopeAndNoResults if you go into the Q&A section of the menu and read the first bit under "LH Q&A", I think you'll find it very useful. If I was you, I would take CD11 as my peak. Were you DTD around this time anyway in line with SMEP? X

@Makingawish I dtd on cd11 yes but not since really! Tbh though I do think that I took a pic of that test a lot longer then the 10minute window. I really can’t remember. I don’t think I’m due ovulation for another few days. I’m panicking now! Surely I’m too early in my cycle for my peak?

@AllHopeAndNoResults Not necessarily! How long is your cycle usually?

@AllHopeAndNoResults ewcm is meant to be the really fertile stuff. Looks all gloopy, just like egg whites. And it's very stretchy! Do you think that's what you have? This cycle I got most ewcm a week before ovulation, then a little bit more on day before ov. Almost like I have two peaks of it. Same last cycle too.

@Makingawish I have long cycles last one was 41 days!

@Skyla01 yes it’s like that, so you think I’m just gearing up for ovulation? So you indicated yours that way?

@AllHopeAndNoResults Ahhh ok well maybe you'll get another peak which is even higher then 🤞 I usually get EWCM about a day or 2 before my ovulation but I only see it when it shows as discharge (sorry, TMI!) so has to be pretty excessive!

@Makingawish yeah same as me! Hopefully I will I was panicked there for a bit lol

@AllHopeAndNoResults try not to panic! If this is your first month really pinpointing things then it's bound to take you a bit to get your head round it all. None of us will have completely identical cycles so you just have to figure out your 'normal'. We only DTD twice this cycle before my static smiley because I didn't expect it so early so I'm hoping we've done enough too.

@Makingawish yeah you’re right. I’m sure you’ve done enough, we probably have all dtd more this month than usual months 😂 so we increased the chances anyway 😉

Hello ladies! I think I may be out for this cycle. I had a very negative frer this morning and I started getting some sporting. I think AF will show her face right in time tomorrow. I'm not even upset weirdly. I feel completely hopeful that it's going to work out for us so I'll be sipping cocktails in Paris from Friday celebrating the start of a new cycle.

Welcome @Carley321! You're in great company. How did you hear SMEP?

@AllHopeAndNoResults your opk tests look good, yes it looks like CD11 had potential. Keeping going as you are though. Do you have any idea how long your luteal phase is? Anyways looks like you've really got the hang of them now! As @Skyla01 egg white cervical mucous is a great indicator that ovulation.

Hi everyone. I'm pretty sure I'm out. The reflexologist was pretty certain that I'm not pregnant. The rest of the consultation was ok but I'm struggling a lot. Think it's just hit me that we are going to need help to conceive 😢 We can't try next month as I've got a hysteroscopy.

Least I haven't wasted any money in tests. She did say she was very happy with my chart, but safe to say good temperatures don't mean anything when your uterus is cold and empty (she said cold, I added the empty).

Sorry to be on such a downer. I'm cheering you guys on from the sidelines but I am going to step away from mumsnet for a bit. Really hoping you all get your bfps ❤️

@tinyole you’re not out until she arrives. Spotting can be a good sign of pregnancy though and some people don’t get a positive until a week after their af is due even on the frer so don’t give up yet, but I love how you’re thinking plus I guess if she does arrive then you can really enjoy Paris without you constantly thinking about it but fingers crossed af doesn’t come tomorrow.
No idea how long my phase is and I think I took the pic a lot longer after the required window and the fact I’m have Cm I’m hoping I haven’t missed ovulation.

It’s been a bit difficult this month because me and DP haven’t been on really good terms, he has been working late, I’ve been getting stressed about it and neither of us are really up for dtd 😂😂 but we’ve managed quite a bit I just think it’s been at the wrong time 🤦🏻‍♀️

It’s tomorrow you’re going away isn’t it? Obviously we would love to know if AF doesn’t arrive but don’t feel obliged to post just make sure you relax and enjoy the city of love!

@AllHopeAndNoResults I bet all our DP and DH think their luck has been in this month 🤣

@tinyole Is there any chance your spotting was implantation? I'm 3DPO today and I'm trying not to symptom spot but I've had niggly cramps all day as if AF was on her way. Probably insignificant though.

@AllHopeAndNoResults good on you that you and DP have managed to keep DTD. It shows that even when not on best terms you're still united in your goals. If you still have egcm then you're still in there! Mine totally dries up after I've ovulated. Try and stay as relaxed as possible. How long is he expected to keep working late?

I'm off to Paris on Friday until Sunday. I will let you know if AF shows up. I'll just post a picture of the gin and tonic I'll be drinking 😂
But thanks you're right, I'll hang in there until she's offficially here. I have to admit I do feel different this time. More bloating, sore boobs which are normal for me and endless stomach ache. But last month I had a bunch of new symptoms too so 🤷🏾‍♀️

Either way, my new moto until I get a BFP is Spirit up, Legs up 😂😂

@VenusStarr I’m sorry to hear that and as everyone else has said time away might be a good thing but the positive side is she’s happy with your charts so just keep doing as you are. Also sending lots of baby dust your way x

@Makingawish I think implantation spotting is meant to be pink or brown and mine definitely looks red 😭
Yours sounds really promising though!! Implantation is usually around that time so got fingers crossed for you and sending lots of baby dust in your directions. As @AllHopeAndNoResults suggested to me it might be worth writing down what you experience so you know if it's normal for you. I started doing that and found this been useful in eliminating what I might have thought were symptoms.

You’re probably noticing it this month because you’ve stuck to a plan. IF she does arrive then defo post a gin and tonic to make us all jealous 😜
I’ve been getting some period type cramps etc which is a bit weird but then maybe they are ovulation pains which I know am aware of?

@tinyole good idea about making a note of symptoms! I don't recall ever having this type of cramps at this time in my cycle but maybe I'm just hyper aware this month. I don't actually know how I'll feel if I get a BFN this month because I've done everything textbook so I'll be like WHY DIDN'T THE SPERM MEET THE EGG AS PLANNED?! 🤣

If AF does arrive for you, I hope she doesn't give you too much grief and you have a wonderful time in Paris! I went a few years ago and have such fond memories 🤗

@AllHopeAndNoResults I wouldn't stress about missing ovulation. I think it's more likely your surge is still to come. Either way you have learnt a bit for the future. If you are having another 41 day cycle you won't ovulate for a while longer anyway. This cycle I got a bit despondent after so many flashing smileys, but static came eventually!

@tinyole I hope you have a great trip!! I really hope AF doesn't show, but I'm glad you are feeling upbeat anyway. Enjoy your drinks!

@VenusStarr sorry to hear of your struggles. Whilst I'm interested to try reflexology myself, I'm not sure how scientific it is. So try not to be too down about what the lady said. I hope you can find some positive energy to move forward to the next part of your journey.

@Makingawish I know how you feel! I'm trying to prepare myself so I won't be too upset by AF turning up. Earlier in this thread I said I don't symptom spot... Big lie this cycle I feel like I've had loads of symptoms!! I'm 7dpo. Hunger pangs & nausea today to add to my cramps yesterday.

@AllHopeAndNoResults yeah timing isn't great but at least you're still doing what you need to do, that's what is most important. This will pass and you'll be great parents because regardless of what you're feeling like you focus on what's important.

@Makingawish I wish we could talk to them, give them a pep rally, some words of encouragement so that they work harder on getting to know each other 😂😂. I now have visions of my ovary being like an awkward teenage dance and the egg is on one side of the room and the sperm are on the other too afraid to ask the egg for a dance 😭

@Skyla01 I feel like I had quite a few symptoms the last few cycles and got BFN so I'm going to try and disregard everything now and just wait and see. She says until tomorrow when I have an itchy boob and convince myself I'm pregnant 😄

@tinyole hahaha brilliant analogy! I love it 🤣 maybe the sperm needs to turn up with some flowers and then maybe the egg will be much more willing to cooperate 🤷‍♀️

@tinyole pmsl that made me laugh so much! It’s typical though isn’t it that the sperm from the man needs to travel to connect and it just can’t be bothered to take the swim!
