Hi everyone! I’ve started a new thread as we are dangerously close to 1000 posts in the last one! I’ll add a link to it now :) Here’s hoping it’s a lucky one!

Good morning! 2 DPO here and also, incidentally, day 2 of no coffee. I have a hideous headache and I know it's just the withdrawal symptoms but I wish I'd picked a better time to kick the habit. It's hard at work at the moment with tensions between my team leader and a colleague, the bickering is not helping my headache at all!

I've gone from 2-3 coffees before lunch, 2 Earl Greys after lunch plus one green tea to 2xEG in the morning and 1 green in the PM. When this packet is finished I'll replace the afternoon green tea with a peppermint or lemon and ginger tea.

purplefig · 21/05/2019 11:31

@MrsH497 Glad you're home and it's totally got to be normal to still be very emotional, it's a hugely traumatic thing to go through. Wrist or hip - you're a brave lady, they both sound like painful spots to me!

@PaintingOwls Oh mate. That sounds horrible!! You are not giving me hope Grin. I really applaud you for just going for it - that's an epic reduction. Can you keep us posted on how you get on!?

@Lottiepink Definitely worth a go. I think the headaches are pretty temporary. You could always wait and see how @PaintingOwls* gets on. @ELW85* look what you've done to us!!! Grin

@FlapJackered Sorry that was me asking a Q about GoT and I don't even bloody watch it. How are you finding having a chilled cycle? Do you find you mix it up? This is my first cycle in ages where I'm doing all the things. Feel manageable atm but definitely making it on my mind more.

PaintingOwls · 21/05/2019 11:45

Oh I've done this before as I suffer from migraines and my GP suggested that coffee could be triggering them. So last year I went completely cold turkey, no tea as well as no coffee. It was 9 days of pure hell, although I felt amazing when I woke up on day 9 so it kind of felt worth it.

But I missed coffee soooo much that I went back on it early this year.

LikeTheFruit · 21/05/2019 11:51

Hi @MrsH497 glad you're home safely. Lovely idea to get a tattoo. I guess the only thing to think about is, if it's somewhere visible (wrist) will you be ok with lots of people including strangers commenting and asking about it. Have you got other tattoos?

HanBurch · 21/05/2019 12:17

Hi everyone! First time posting for me and I hope you don't mind if I join!

Age: 29
TTC: #1

I lost a pregnancy very early at 6 weeks at the beginning of April. I'm currently 14dpo and 2 days late for AF but getting BFN ☹️ No idea if I'm actually late or my dates aren't right because of what happened in April.

Struggling to not go insane!! Just waiting either for AF to show up or a BFP and it's all I can think about!

purplefig · 21/05/2019 12:22

@PaintingOwls Ahhh I see - you're a seasoned pro at this! Well best of luck nonetheless, hope the headache subsides shortly.

@HanBurch of course not - the more the merrier! How many cycles are you? I'm so sorry to hear about your miscarriage, that must have been horrible. There are quite a few ladies on this thread who have had similar experiences. In terms of whether or not your dates are right - did you temp to confirm ovulation? I know the body can take a while to settle down after a miscarriage, which can be frustrating.

FlapJackered · 21/05/2019 12:29

@purplefig I actually find it ok and quite enjoy the full on planning cycles. I just think since my mc I have more hope each cycle, now I know I can get pregnant, that it hurts that bit more when I put in loads of effort and still get a bfn. At least this cycle I can just say oh well we didn't really put in much effort!
Also the fact we are being referred to a fertility clinic has taken the pressure off a bit too.
Are you doing anything different this month?

Lozzlepop · 21/05/2019 12:36

Afternoon Ladies,

Had such a busy morning I haven't made it on yet @PaintingOwls I am 2DPO too 👋🏻well according to OPKs and Glow but I am still a bit skeptical if I did OV this month so will need to wait and see, positive OPK came smack bang out of nowhere and actually hoping for AF as we said we would have a month off to enjoy the holiday 🙈

@HanBurch hello and welcome, sorry to hear about your MC, I had a MMC in April so know how tough it is, are you basing dates by going on your regular cycle? As @purplefig mentioned it can take a while for the body to go back to normal, I don't think I OV until day 23 this month if i even have ovulated at all.

Chh87 · 21/05/2019 12:37

Hi All,

Hope you don’t mind me joining, age 32, Ttc#1 Cycle 3 and currently 2 DPO.

I guess I had unrealistic expectations of getting pregnant and thought it would happen straight away, especially after so many friends have fallen pregnant straight away and we are using OPKs. Hoping cycle 3 is successful for us, and this cycle is successful for a lot of others. Smile

HanBurch · 21/05/2019 12:44

I was lucky enough to get pregnant cycle 1, so this is only my second cycle.

I've been tracking my ovulation but not taking temp, is it worthwhile doing this?

This is a great thread by the way, so supportive!! Thank you 😘

HanBurch · 21/05/2019 12:47

Also can someone please explain how I reply to a specific comment rather than the whole thread 🙈🙈😂

ELW85 · 21/05/2019 12:50

Afternoon all!

Welcome, @HanBurch and @Chh87!

I can only apologise about the caffeine, lads. But at least we know now and go through it all together? :)

Since I seem to be on a roll with disrupting lives, has anyone seen this?: www.countdowntopregnancy.com/pregnancy-test/dpo-chart.php?dpo=4

It’s got a load of interactive calculators that you can tailor to your cycle and get accurate responses about when to test etc.
I've reflected on how unhelpful I was to myself by testing this morning, so I’m trying to redeem now...

Also...I think I’m coming down with something. I’m super dizzy for no reason at all. This better not disrupt Harry Potter Studios this weekend!! Angry

Marleym28 · 21/05/2019 12:50

You hit reply but just mention a person by @'ing them. ... I think

Today I got my static smiley. Was due to ov yest but Clearblue told me otherwise ;)

Let my two week craziness commence 🤣

HanBurch · 21/05/2019 13:04

@Lozzlepop thank you. Yes just basing off of regular dates but I understand that it may take a while to get back to normal.

Isn't not knowing the worst!!? Im glad I found this thread.

MrsEG · 21/05/2019 13:11

Thank you @Lozzlepop it went really well. We have some planters, they’re super colourful - hope your rose bush has some success this summer x

@ELW85 Yep fairly awful, weirdly I’m already feeling okay though. I think it’s just knowing something is actually going to be done now, gives us some hope for the future. Also re: testing - just don’t do it! My rule of thumb is 11DPO at the absolute earliest. I honestly find a BFN harder to take than AF arriving. I make DH hide mine.

@mrsh497 are you able to get some time off now you are back, sick leave? Don’t rush back to work, make sure you take the time to really heal.

@purplefig We’ve weighed up all options and think we will keep trying. The nurse told us one of the most common issues can be a blood issue and said they would advise a baby aspirin so we are going to start taking that if we were to be lucky enough for a BFP before the tests. We know that worst case is another loss but I think we would rather keep going so we don’t lose a lot of time. I’ll be 34 in two weeks and we’d like more than one so at this point time really isn’t on my side.

@FlapJackered thank you lovely, if it makes you feel any better my sister has terrible problems with her thyroid and conceived just fine. Fingers crossed for you x

ELW85 · 21/05/2019 13:24

@MrsEG - lovely to hear from you, and thank you for the advice!
It sounds like you and your DH make a great team, and you’ll be doing wonderful jobs of getting through this together.
I’m 34 too, so definitely hear you about time being a critical factor.

purplefig · 21/05/2019 14:03

@FlapJackered that's a really interesting point actually, I hadn't thought about it from that perspective. Do you have a date for your fertility clinic meeting? I'm doing bloody everything this month - think reaching 9 months with no hint of a BFP has sent me over the edge. I've started temping, signed up for acupuncture, started taking pregnacare, doing a daily fertility smoothie, cleaning up my diet and started exercise again. DH has started on Wellman and we're both cutting out caffeine next week. I'm not a big drinker, but I'm going to avoid alcohol as much as possible too (just the odd glass here and there). I don't think this'll be my cycle, but I'm hoping that all the changes I make make a difference in the coming ones.

@Chh87 Welcome! Yes I think a lot of us on here thought it would happen quickly. I was honestly shocked when it hadn't happened by cycle 3. All the best for this cycle!

@HanBurch I have only just started tracking my temp (cycle 9) and wish I'd been doing it before. Best way to confirm ovulation I think.

@ELW85 "Since I seem to be on a roll with disrupting lives" haahaha!!! Grin

@MrsEG Your planters sound absolutely lovely. I totally get your decision to keep trying and it sounds like a really sensible option. I've heard of people taking baby aspirin while TTC before, could definitely be worth looking into. I agree with @ELW85**, you and your husband sound like such a great team.

Lozzlepop · 21/05/2019 14:37

@ELW85 I have just had a decaf coffee, hope you feel better in time for Harry Potter, I have always really wanted to go 😁

@HanBurch yeah I am taking mine with a pinch of salt as I am not sure its happened! We caught on cycle 2 so this is cycle 3 for us! I don't temp as I get up super early during the week and wouldn't want to at the weekend but I know quite a few people on here do temp so I'm sure someone can give some helpful advice.

@MrsEG I'm really glad to hear that it went well! I really hope it does too, your colourful planters sound lovely!

PaintingOwls · 21/05/2019 15:11

Lozzlepop

Hey ovulation twin!

I know what you mean, we have holidays coming up in July and between that and wanting a summer/spring baby I'm quite torn this cycle! It's madness as I've been like a crazy nesting hen for the last year so I'm surprised to find myself feeling like this.

ELW85 · 21/05/2019 15:23

@Purplefig - I’m just pleased you’re still taking to me!!
Meant to ask you, which app are you using to track your temp, and how are you finding your first cycle doing it?

@Lozzlepop - how was your decaf? I’ve just finished one too! I’ll let you know how HP goes :) it’s right in the middle of potential testing season (although I know I should wait til Monday) so I’m tempted to get it out of the way and let Potter cheer me up!

MrsH497 · 21/05/2019 15:32

@MrsEG yes spoke to my line manager while I was away. We were meant to be night shifts 23/24 but she's said she's not expecting us into work for nights.
Bleeding has stopped is that normal to not have heavy bleeding or bad cramps?

Lozzlepop · 21/05/2019 15:35

@PaintingOwls 👋🏻Hiya buddy!

I had been getting really low OPKs for days and the mood took us over the weekend and whilst we were away so just went with the flow as I didn't think OV was going to happen and then I got my positive when we came back, when we got the BFP we DTD 2 days before OV so kinda hoping for a BFN this month just so its not right back to back - who would have thought it!

@ELW85 the decaf was fine, I don't really notice much difference to be honest! Just go and enjoy yourself!

purplefig · 21/05/2019 15:37

@ELW85 Hahaha well I'm not giving up coffee until Tuesday Grin! I'm using Fertility Friend to track temp and it's really simple to use and plots the graph for you. I'm finding it really interesting and it's not hard to do at all, but I am finding that it's setting off my day thinking about TTC and as a result I think I'm obsessing perhaps a bit more than other months. Still, I think it's worth it for a while to confirm I'm ovulation / check out what my LP is etc. Annoyingly, I haven't ovulated yet and I'm away from Fri - Tues and for various reasons won't be able to temp....so it'll be sod's law I miss it this cycle!

@PaintingOwls I totally hear you....if anything I'd rather not get a BFP this month so that I get 6 months of potential spring/summer birthdays Grin.

@MrsH497 Glad you're not having to do night shifts lovely.

MrsEG · 21/05/2019 15:57

@MrsH497 That’s Good. Did you just get the one blood test while away? I think it’s worth seeing if you can see your GP and just get it on record - they may do repeat bloods to confirm it. My first MC wasn’t too bad either, felt just like a period really. Look after yourself this week xx

@ELW85 @purplefig DH is the best, he’s been the one to have to call family etc and tell them, don’t know how he’s done it. Came to all my hospital visits with me and off his own back has booked a GP visit today for a sperm check. I’m so pleased it all seems to only be making us stronger - I just really really hope we manage to get the result we want soon now. I can’t believe how many months have passed and how much we’ve been through already!

How is everyone? Anyone due to test any time this week? Looking forward to some BFPs :)
