Hi everyone! I’ve started a new thread as we are dangerously close to 1000 posts in the last one! I’ll add a link to it now :) Here’s hoping it’s a lucky one!

I’m so sorry that I’ve ruined everyone’s Monday!

@Purplefig - I drink 1 coffee in the morning now and then only caffeine free Diet Coke or water.
Even decaf coffee has 12mg in, so it’s SO hard to stick to.

The good news is though that I feel great for it now. The first two weeks were hard, but definitely worth it :)

ValidUser · 20/05/2019 12:15

@Lozzlepop the man is a vagenius. 😂

LikeTheFruit · 20/05/2019 12:47

@ValidUser 😂😂😂. That's really tickled me!

purplefig · 20/05/2019 12:55

@ELW85 no honestly, thank you. I really appreciate you mentioning it and digging out those links as I was totally unaware that it could get in the way of getting pregnant.

ELW85 · 20/05/2019 13:00

@Purplefig - anytime!! We need to help each other navigate all of this :)

1990shopefulftm · 20/05/2019 13:13

Still no sign of AF, had horrendous cramps and so bloated I look PG, took some paracetamol and peppermint capsules this morning but scared to take anything else until AF shows up.

orangeloo · 20/05/2019 13:33

Read this info while I was having a coffee- haha. although it was decaf with a dash of regular. I will make more of an effort. I don't think I can give it up entirely. Thank you for sharing. There is so much we shouldn't do I think we just have to do all we can whilst still 'living' and working out what works for us. Time trying is also a big factor in the decision to cut things out and try new things I guess.

Dollywilde · 20/05/2019 13:48

@1990shopefulmum sorry if I’ve missed it, but how many dpo are you? Is it worth testing again?

Thanks @lozzlepop and @purplefig, have my fingers crossed cystitis buggers off soon, I’ve only had it a couple of times before and I’m sure it’s the weeing after sex factor that doesn’t help. That said, I’ve now started reading a thread where people say that they got their BFP in the month they got a uti - it’s bonkers as I’m sure it’s totally unconnected but giving me hope!!

Forgot to mention, saw 3 magpies on Sunday, good omen haha?

I hadn’t realised about the caffeine - eek. Not really a coffee drinker but have a bit of a Diet Coke addiction - knew I was going to have to cut back after a BFP but hadn’t considered doing it before. To be honest, I haven’t changed any lifestyle factors since starting to try, still drinking/eating what I fancy. Part of me thinks 9 months is long enough to abstain, before you add on however long it takes to try! But might start easing back the caffeine and alcohol over next cycle if no joy this month - can’t hurt after all. Smile

Lozzlepop · 20/05/2019 13:48

@ValidUser hahahaha that's brilliant! 😂you've given me a good giggle!!

Dollywilde · 20/05/2019 13:49

Totally agree @orangeloo!

PippaPug · 20/05/2019 14:04

Wow this moves so fast!

@Dollywilde - hope your feeling better now?

I’m so glad I don’t drink coffee - just to cut down the chocolate now! Is anyone on a TTC healthy eating/diet plan?

I got a static smiley this morning but I’m at work now till Thursday..so I’m going to go home tonight to see my Fiance but I will Come back to work tonight 😴

Lozzlepop · 20/05/2019 14:21

@PippaPug sort of, I think with it coming into summer (fingers crossed for nice weather) it's easier to eat well. I will be back to salads for lunch and always have porridge with fruit and nuts for breakfast. We have started eating more veggie options and less red meat and will start with more supplements other than the folic acid I am taking just now. Do you have to work all the way through? 😭

PippaPug · 20/05/2019 14:54

@LozzlePop yes I find it a little bit easier and I also finding in the summer I tend to eat less chocolate etc (although more ice cream 😂) what supplements are you thinking about trying?
I’m a live in Nanny during the week so I commute up on a Monday and stay till Thursday late....I work 12 hours tues/weds/Thurs And with over a 2 hour commute home it’s not easy for me to go home, but I am going to head home tonight literally for a hour or so BlushBlush before coming back up tonight!

PaintingOwls · 20/05/2019 15:06

purplefig

I know, I kind of wish I just hadn't started drinking it again in the first place. The withdrawal is brutal, but I found it easier overall to go cold turkey rather than trying to wean myself off, although I am very much an all or nothing kind of person.

What is TTC turning is into, eh? Teetotal-caffeine-free-nymphomaniac-neon-weeing-timed-pineapple-enthusiasts.

This made me laugh a lot because it's true

purplefig · 20/05/2019 15:19

@ELW85 we definitely do! Such a helpful resource.

@orangeloo hahaa love it - I'd just finished mine. Agree you can only do your best and agree about the time factor. I've hit the 9 month mark now and really feeling the need to be more proactive.

@Dollywilde it's the worst! I used to get it terrible if I didn't wee after sex. Things that helped included cranberry juice + a little bit of bicarb mixed with water. The latter is probably horrendous for you, but it always cleared it up for me.

@PippaPug I'm not on a strict plan, but I am trying to pay attention to what I eat. I'm really enjoying starting the day with my fertility smoothie as I feel like that's putting a load of good stuff into my body first thing. I also eat 99% vegan, so it's a pretty plant-based diet on the whole. Supplement wise I take pregnacare and am considering taking a b-complex next month if I confirm I have short LP this cycle. I've also just started up some more intense exercise. Basically, I'm trying to take care of myself. Sorry about your long commute - that is some serious dedication!!

@PaintingOwls Urghhh I hear you. I gave it up for ONE DAY a few months back and it was easily my least favourite day of the year so far. You've got to laugh, I honestly believe it's one of the best ways to muddle through!

In other news: I can confirm I still hate OPKs. Despite having EWCM for a few days and actually abstaining from water/weeing as per the protocol, I still have a very very very negative OPK. In less depressing news, I emailed my husband about the caffeine stuff including links and he said he'd give it up with me. What a champ.

PaintingOwls · 20/05/2019 15:42

PippaPug

Wow, that's some dedication! Fingers crossed for you

Lozzlepop · 20/05/2019 15:54

@PippaPug I don't really eat too much chocolate but crisps and biscuits are my vice! Im thinking about the his and hers pregnacare preconception but I have mentioned these before and DP doesn't seem keen saying there's nothing wrong with him but its trying to explain we are trying to do everything possible to catch! Wow thats long hours and absolute dedication that you are heading home today, you go girl 🐎

MrsEG · 20/05/2019 16:56

Afternoon ladies, just checking in. Didn’t want to miss any BFPs!

Re: caffeine, I quit cold turkey a while ago now for blood pressure issues. First two weeks are awful, next two weeks you find your groove and then you honestly don’t miss it. Peppermint tea is a godsend as is Caffeine free Diet Coke (tastes absolutely no different). Also I always try and have sparkling water around for a kick (me and my exciting life). Besides, as soon as you’re preggers you have to cut down anyway so may as well get a head start! As someone mentioned above you can have a certain amount so no reason for anyone else to go completely caffeine free - I only quit because my BP was so low I was fainting fairly regularly! Have to really watch my booze intake too. The joys of life over 30.

Off to hospital in the next hour for my final bloods and referral to the recurrent MC clinic. Onwards and upwards. Looking forward to all of your BFPs x

@MrsEG so nice to hear from you - your attitude is incredible. Please keep us posted and know that we'll be thinking of you. It's strange how connected I feel to you guys, who are essentially strangers, but I guess we check in every day and go through so many of the same issues. Anyway I'll stop rambling now. Thanks for the coffee info too, I think I'm going to stop up on some Caffeine free Diet Coke and sparkling water and join you!

LokiCat · 20/05/2019 17:34

@purplefig I completely agree re feeling connected! I always check throughout the day as I wanna see updates and read positive news from you all. We're all going through this together ❤️
So sweet of your DH to give it up with you. I almost don't want to ask mine - he's always so grumpy without his morning coffee and no one wants to deal with that 😂
I hope your positive OPK comes through soon!

@MrsEG hope the bloods went okay and the referral for the clinic comes through quickly. Thoughts are with you and I hope you get answers very soon! x

@Dollywilde sorry to hear about the cystitis, I hope you're okay and glad you also managed to catch your fw before it started.

I've never been a tea or coffee drinker, but I am quite partial to a Coke Zero. I've started drinking sparkling water though to get my fizzy drink kick and sometimes add squash to it.
My biggest downfall is my sweet tooth, though - I can't seem to get rid of it. Cakes, biscuits, chocolates, sweets, I want it all!!

@PippaPug wow I admire your dedication 👏🏽(I'm too lazy). Fingers crossed it's all worth it and at least some fun for an hour Wink

MrsH497 · 20/05/2019 17:50

Hey ladies flying home today. Hubby and I doing ok made what we could of the last few days of holiday and may do a short break to Majorca or something in the summer. Had a tearful evening yesterday but we will get there.
Kind of tempted to get a tattoo (first one!) to symbolise pregnancy loss seen some lovely ones on google.

Hope you're all doing ok. @MrsEG how are you doing? X

ELW85 · 20/05/2019 18:01

@Purplefig - it’s great that DH is supporting you :) makes it so much better (I won’t say ‘easier’ haha!)

@MrsEG - it’s really nice to hear from you! I hope the hospital goes well x

@MrsH497 - what a lovely idea, and it’s really nice to hear from you, too :) a summer break will be great to look forward to x

I think all of this talk of caffeine has made me feel tired and 100% not up for a CrossFit session :( but GoT is awaiting us when we get back!!

purplefig · 20/05/2019 18:19

@LokiCat Yes I think having a supportive community makes a whole world of difference. It's certainly less lonely. Omg. Confession: I am your DH Grin.

@MrsH497 So lovely to hear from you and a summer break sounds lovely. What kind of design would you go for? I'm always so intrigued by other people's tattoos.

@ELW85 Yeah, he's a pretty good egg really. I have to remind myself of that when TTC gets me down, it's soppy but I'd rather be struggling with him than married to some 5/10. (I mean in personality. Mind you, DH is smoking. But I am biased. Wink.) Let GoT be your motivation for CrossFit!! Speaking of which - have you been going long? I literally got back into lifting today - I missed it but I'm so weak.

Have a nice evening everyone! I've got a tiny bit more work to do, then I'm taking it eaaaasy. Long soak, dinner and some reading. Bliss.

1990shopefulftm · 20/05/2019 18:27

@Dollywilde I didn't use opks or anything just calculators online which would be around 16/17 dpo.

I gave up coffee for health reasons months ago and had a few cups of tea a day, when we decided to TTC I switched to 2 cups of tea max at work then decaf everything at home, decaf Asda coke is really good stuff.

MrsH497 · 20/05/2019 18:43

@purplefig saw this on line and thought it was pretty might try and incorporate some Disney with it! X
