Anyone conceived naturally at 42?

Thinking of ttc but realistic about chances. Any positive stories?

If it doesn't happen naturally we will give up after a year but really would like to try

Anyone else done this and been successful?

My mum did, it was accidental though. But it probably helped that there was no stress of ttc, so take it easy and best of luck!

Conceived my first and only very easily at 43 (first month of trying). Went on to have an easy pregnancy and birth too. Good luck.

DS born at 42, DD at 44 both naturally also conceived in between, but miscarried.

fourstepsforward · 29/04/2019 18:39

Yes, I conceived my second at 42.

I have a good friend who conceived her only child at 42 (she conceived previously at 41 but had a miscarriage).

My grandmother had babies at 40, 42 & 44.

Ginlinessisnexttogodliness · 29/04/2019 18:44

First born at 39
Second at 41
Third at 42

All lovely surprises!

I conceived at 42 accidently after a night on the gin. I conceived again at 44, this time planned, and I took ubiquinol and other multi vits. I got lucky after 3 months.

Wow that’s amazing at 49! There’s still hope for me then!(47) It will however have to be ivf again for us, Praying for 5th time lucky!

Both my school friends mum and our then neighbour conceived naturally at 45. As teenagers we were amazed/horrified they were still having sex. We presumed you stopped at 30.

Moralitym1n1 · 30/04/2019 07:17

My sister's running club acquaintance is having a baby at 47, naturally conceived I believe.

Happy accident at 44. Sailed through the pregnancy but then bounced almost straight into the menopause.

Suspect key factors were that I was healthy, very fit, regular periods, not taking contraceptives (thought I was too old!), younger partner. Happened within 6 mths of starting relationship but critically not TTC so under no pressure.

Women have always had babies throughout their forties, admittedly normally not their first children, but there are no guarantees. Good luck.

Cherie Blair had Leo at 46 didn't she?

KinderSurpriseBump · 19/05/2019 01:16

I'm currently expecting my 3rd and I'm 42. Wasn't planned but a nice surprise. I'll be 43 when baby is born if all goes well.

pinkoi · 19/05/2019 23:07

My Neighbour conceived naturally at age 48 and my mother had me as her first age 43 😊

Catconfusion · 20/05/2019 05:01

I'm 40 next month and conceived the first two cycles I didn't use contraception at 39. Sadly I had a missed miscarriage at 12 weeks (baby 6 weeks) and then a chemical pregnancy (probably due to surgery I'd just had for mmc). My point is I'm shocked at how easily I fell pregnant as I have polycystic ovaries and irregular cycles. It's likely the losses were bad luck which could happen to anyone at any age so I'm optimistic at falling pregnant and carrying healthily to term.

There's a lot of bad press about the steep decline of fertility and I don't believe it's generally the case, many people start their family in their 40s. Some of course are unlucky and it's too late but generally it you want a baby in your 40s it'll happen.

I agree with OP: track temps, opks and shell out on acupuncture if you can. Also take advised supplements. Most importantly try not to get stressed out with work, relationships and ttc. By 40 we all have a lot going on and I'm convinced this plays a big part in delaying pregnancy. It's tough and I'm one to talk but have as much fun as you can. If you experience losses take a bit of time to grieve but pick yourself up and try again. Get testing done early on to see if any medical problems are preventing it if it's taking a while.

Ultimately we're designed to reproduce. If we keep as healthy and active as we can as we get older it's totally possible to conceive in our 40s. Trust the awesome power of your body and believe it will happen. Lead a fertile life and good things will happen.

Good luck and I truly hope your dream of being a parent is realised! Xx

Yep started my family in my forties. Wanted March babies and got them each time. No problem with pregnancies either.

trestletable · 01/06/2019 11:35

@pinkhousesarebest that's very reassuring to hear!

Several in my family have had babies over 40, including one that was a one night stand! Blush

trestletable · 01/06/2019 19:20

I'm realistic about the chances but I think I'm going to give it go
