TTC The Sequel - trying for #2

Anyone else TTC their second child?

We decided to officially start TTC last month (cue minera removal which I'd booked in well before Christmas, but our docs only has the nurse monthly). Cycle is a bit up the spout. According to my period tracker I am due for AF today but so far NADA. I did test this morning, but BFN

A bit of context: My first pregnancy was a bit of a nightmare. Very sick from the very start (but not sick enough to have it classed as hypermedia) and had GD towards the end of the pregnancy, which resulted in being induced which took 4 bloody days and ended up with me getting a kidney infection, so we were stuck in the bloody hospital for an extra week. Interestingly, as soon as I went in mat leave my GD almost reversed itself and I was having hypos a lot!!

I am worried that I'm going to get yelled at again by a midwife for having a very high BMI (I binge eating when my anxiety and depression hits) and that as I'm 34 I'm at even more of a risky time. But we very much want another child. Plus DD (4) is obsessed with the idea of a sibling

We are also ttc #2 my ds is 6 so a bit of age gap (if I get pregnant that is). First pregnancy was fine and I knew I was pregnant really quickly.

I've had implant for the past 2 years and got it out at end of Feb with my ovulation being on 11th March, now counting down days till I can test. Its only my first month and. Probably being stupid to even hope I would "catch" straight away but I'm so desperate lol xx

DildoDoggins · 19/03/2019 14:11

Hello both, can I join you? We will be starting TTC our second child next week. DC1 is two years old.

I've just ordered my vitamins and some test strips.

I'm in a similar position @LancashireTea, my aim was to have lost some weight by now but due to anxiety etc I have put it on instead which is frustrating. I am also taking prescribed higher dose of folic acid (as of today!) on consultant advice after DC1.

I am feeling a mix of excitement and anxiety!

Gettingonabitnow · 19/03/2019 17:10

Hi can I join?! Ttc second child next month. Mix of excitement and nervousness at a) will I get pregnant at 37 and b) how hard is it going to be with two!! 😂

DildoDoggins · 19/03/2019 17:11

@Gettingonabitnow hiya! Hopefully it'll happen quickly and they'll just "slot in" 😅

Gettingonabitnow · 19/03/2019 18:12

Ha yeah, or even better they’ll play together!

crazychemist · 19/03/2019 18:26

Hi there ladies Grin

I have a DD who is 2.5, ttc for #2 the last 2 months, although various things have got in the way (first month, I was in hospital for a week that spanned my fertile window, second month MIL came for a visit, and she stays up late and leaves her door open/comes in and asks if DH wants a cup of tea or a snack!)

It’s soooooo much harder finding the time for ttc#2, isn’t it? Spontaneity kind of goes out of the window. My DD is not a great sleeper, so we have to seize the moment when possible!

@Lancashiretea, did the midwife actually SHOUT at you? Crickey, that’s harsh!

Regarding age gap, I keep telling myself that it won’t be that hard with 2 as by the time #2 turns up DD1 may well be at school. So that will be easy peasy then (don’t correct my fantasy).

peasando · 19/03/2019 18:34

We're also trying to TTC number 2. In theory I should still be in my 2WW just now but AF decided to appear on Sunday 5 days early so we're nearly ready to start again!

I had 11 miscarriages before DS was born (he is now 2) so I'm a bit nervous about TTC again, but really would love another and more than anything would love a sibling for DS, so here I am.

We both work full time and look after a v active toddler so just finding time and energy is difficult, but I'm thinking of trying SMEP this month - does anyone have any experience?

Oh and I'm 38 (nearly 39) so you are still young, OP! x

LancashireTea · 19/03/2019 18:37

@crazychemist yes she did. She called me irresponsible for being fat and pregnant and that I'd damage my child. DD is currently sitting on my knee watching My Little Pony and is bloody amazing imo.

Still no period here, but not wanting to test yet. Just hoping my cycle is still messed up from my coil.

peasando · 19/03/2019 18:43

@LancashireTea omg that is mental. You poor thing! I am also pretty overweight and was dreading the comments from midwives etc when pregnant with DS1 but fortunately everyone was lovely.

Fully planned to lose a ton of weight before TTC number 2...I have lost 2.5 stones since the start of the year so quite pleased but totally plateaued now (pleased with weight loss but BMI still obese). Now I've decided that time running out is the bigger problem so we just need to get on with it.

peasando · 19/03/2019 18:45

And I'm about the same weight I was when I conceived DS and he's perfectly healthy 😃

LancashireTea · 19/03/2019 19:34

Tbh, even when I was thinner my BMI always said I was overweight or obese, and this was when I was dancing for 5 hours per week and then at the gym!

peasando · 19/03/2019 20:09

Well there you are then. Sounds like a horrible midwife 😡

Retrieversandredwine · 19/03/2019 20:34

Also TTC #2, DS is 18months old.

Had a MC is January and I'm currently about 3DPO. I'm such a control freak, my MC took ages to complete due to retained products so I just want to get on with stuff.

Becks2019 · 19/03/2019 20:41

Hi can I Join this too 😊

Planning to start TTC number 2 in July, my DD is 3 nearly 4. Bit nervous this time round as I’m with a new partner and I had a rough time with my first pregnancy, ex was unfaithful multiple times. So I’m hoping this time will be more positive as I feel I missed out on the happy feelings x

Starynights · 19/03/2019 21:11

Hello I would love to join

TTC for two months, DS 2.5, I’m so broody but took ages to get DH to agree to start again. My periods are irregular making this whole tracking stuff tricky but after peeing on a lot of ovulation sticks I’m hoping I’m 7dpo
@crazychemist finding time to dtd has been v tricky
@lancashiretea I dread to think what my bmi is, I replaced smoking with eating once I found out I was preggers with DS and haven’t stopped since

Gettingonabitnow · 20/03/2019 11:08

Is anyone conscious of a due date potentially being around Christmas?!

peasando · 20/03/2019 11:24

@Gettingonabitnow yes if I manage to get pregnant this month due date would be 22 December. I guess in an ideal world I wouldn't have a Christmas baby but I'm not prepared to lose a month of trying just because of that! Anyway, I will have to have a section again (after complications with DS) so chances are it would be born slightly earlier than due date, they took DS out at 39 weeks.

DildoDoggins · 20/03/2019 12:06

@Gettingonabitnow we were going to start in May/June to avoid our first child's birthday (end of November), Christmas and the worst of winter but decided just to get cracking.

I'll also be having a c section at 39 weeks so if I did get pregnant next week I think due date would be around the second week of November. Not ideal, but we have already pushed it back and back and we agreed just to get on with it.

DildoDoggins · 20/03/2019 12:07

December, not November. Doh!

crazychemist · 20/03/2019 15:17

Hi @gettingonabitnow, yes, I’m quite conscious of possible Christmas baby, which if I had complete choice over I’d avoid, but I don’t want to miss a month (although I reckon I’m out this month anyway).

Besides, I was roasting in August with DD1 (she’s a September baby), maybe it’ll be nice to be toasty warm in December/January instead Grin

I think you can’t win with weight/being pregnant. My midwife told me off a couple of times because I wasn’t gaining weight fast enough. I had horrific morning sickness and was throwing up all the time so I just couldn’t gain weight. Honestly I don’t know what she expected me to do, she was always so accusatory and I think she thought I was deliberately starving my baby for the sake of my figure!

Gettingonabitnow · 20/03/2019 17:48

Blimey that’s awful. Don’t get me started on midwife experiences - one of my lingering memorie after 48 hours in labour was the midwife glaring at me as I said I couldn’t keep going, I’ll never forget the look she gave me, supportive she was not!

Starynights · 20/03/2019 22:13

@gettingonabit I was conscious that it’s a possible Christmas baby which isn’t ideal but agree with @crazychemist being heavily pregnant in winter must be easier than during a heat wave. With DS my ankles were huge and I ate about 10 ice lolly’s a day.

LancashireTea · 21/03/2019 16:58

DD was a February baby and my birthday is the week before Christmas. Hasn't even crossed my mind about dates though.

Still no period and still no bfp. Cramping pains though so goodness knows what's going on in there.

OP posts:
Starynights · 21/03/2019 18:40

@lancashiretea are you 4 days overdue on your period? That sounds promising. Are your periods usually pretty regular? Mind are all over the place so i tried ovulation sticks this month to try and predict things a bit better when will you test again?

LancashireTea · 21/03/2019 20:36

The problem, @starynights, is that I only had my coil out at the start of Feb. Had a light withdrawal bleed but nothing since.
