My fiancé and I have been trying for 5 weeks today and I was wondering how long does it take/did it take you lovely lot to get pregnant with your first? The clear blue website states most couples get pregnant within the first month.. surely not? Any advice welcome!

I don't believe the clearblue website says that!?!

Took me 9 months for dc 1. 14 months into trying for number 2 (inc an early miscarriage).

cravingmilkshake · 09/03/2019 22:22

It took us 7 weeks. But some people take longer and I think you can get fertility tested after 2 years so under that is normal!

seven201 · 09/03/2019 22:22

I think the nhs says most couples are pregnant by 6 months.

Idratherhaveacupoftea · 09/03/2019 22:23

How long is a piece of string?

sar302 · 09/03/2019 22:23

I'm not sure there is a "normal" as such - definitely never heard that most people are pregnant within a month! But I think the NHS recommends seeing your GP, if you've been trying for 1-2 years without any success.

Enjoy all the sex 😉

We caught on our second month. I came off bc 6 months before we started trying and we used condoms in the interim to make sure my cycles were back to normal. Now 20 weeks

JasonGideon · 09/03/2019 22:26

Weren’t trying, weren’t preventing. Really lucky.

Emmalowri · 09/03/2019 22:31

Apparently over a third conceive within a month @seven201 according to clear blue! I thought it sounded a bit bizarre too!

Thanks so much for the feedback ladies, I’ve always had it in my head that it would take 3-6 months if I was very very lucky!

Almost 3 years... hoping that when we have number 2 it won't take that long again.

Chanel05 · 09/03/2019 22:50

I’m 8 months and still counting ...

FunnysInLaJardin · 09/03/2019 22:53

Hmm. I came off the pill in June and got pregnant by August. Had a MMC in October. Then got pregnant again the following February. So actually 8 months for my first viable pregnancy

Aberforthsgoat · 09/03/2019 22:53

My first two pregnancies I caught in the first months of trying but neither were successful :(
The last ended over a year ago but we only really started trying a few months ago. I naively thought we would catch on the first month again...
Not so much this time!

I think there are so many factors that can affect things and apparently you’ve only got 25% of conceiving even if you catch the most fertile
Day - I’m curious to see how clear blue got their stats.

Good luck!

Steeve · 09/03/2019 22:57

Took us 12 months. Was a good reason for us to fuck like bunnies tbh...

Rtmhwales · 09/03/2019 22:59

1/3 isn't most.
Most couples conceive within the first year of trying. Most of the ones I know within six months.

December2018 · 09/03/2019 23:02

7 years to conceive my little fella 😊
Well worth the wait tho

MrJollyLivesNextDoor · 09/03/2019 23:11

Within a month
Aged 39
We were Shock

Casmama · 10/03/2019 00:34

I was first month for both of mine.

It does say 1/3 of healthy couples so it would depend on what they mean by healthy and might be quite a different proportion if you looked at all couples.

DramaAlpaca · 10/03/2019 00:39

It took us 11 months to conceive DC1.

Then it took literally one time of trying for DC2. We were stunned, especially as DC1 was only 6 months & I was still breastfeeding.

Fortheloveofscience · 10/03/2019 00:52

Literally one try - we were so shocked, expected it to take months.

darceybussell · 10/03/2019 01:05

I think the correct stat is that something like 80% will conceive within the first year.

You have around a 20% chance of conceiving each cycle.

YouBumder · 10/03/2019 01:06

We were first month

Fatted · 10/03/2019 01:09

Nine months with our first.

First month with our second. BUT I came off the pill six months beforehand. With eldest, we started trying straight after I came off the pill after being on it for 10 years.

MapleAndCats · 10/03/2019 01:50

Statistically 80% of couples conceive by the six month mark naturally. 90% by 12 months. And 95% by the 36 month mark.

SurgeHopper · 10/03/2019 01:51

5 weeks? So one cycle?

workinprogressmum · 10/03/2019 02:59

Took us 16 months for DS. We've been trying for #2 for 4 months. Had a chemical pregnancy following cycle 1 this time. Honestly, it takes as long as it takes!
