My fiancé and I have been trying for 5 weeks today and I was wondering how long does it take/did it take you lovely lot to get pregnant with your first? The clear blue website states most couples get pregnant within the first month.. surely not? Any advice welcome!

First month but were tracking temperature and actively trying. Still surprised us that it happened first time round though!

First try surprise first DC, 5 months with planning / tracking the second

80% conceive in the first year, 90% will conceive within 2 years

We were very lucky and caught in the first month with dd.

Some people will catch instantly, others take a few months, others over a year.
Everyone is completely different so there's no way of knowing how long it will take.

1/3 isn’t most!!!

weegiemum · 10/03/2019 10:22

Dd1 -first month
Ds -second month
Dd2 -weren't trying at all, in fact I had a Mirena.

Dh most put out, he was looking forward to lots of trying!!

There’s def no normal. Everyone is different and there are so many factors. We conceived first go when I was 38 and my partner was 34. However we lost that baby at 9 weeks. We conceived again 4 months later by which time is turned 39 and that was a successful pregnancy. We’re not trying again until I’m 41 (am 40 now) so god knows what will happen then.

Our first, I got pregnant despite perfect use on the pill Hmm I kept taking it unknowingly until I was about 9 weeks. Dd2 was conceived on second month of trying. I was 21/25 respectively so I do think age was a key factor.

Why would you count in weeks? Weeks are irrelevant. It's cycles that count, which is months basically. You have one week per month, absolute max, as a window.

All anyone can say for sure is that most people will have conceived within a year and most of the people who don't conceive in the first year will do so in the second. "One-third of healthy couples" is not most people and frankly sounds to me like a business-drumming-up stat. ("Oh no! We didn't conceive in the first month - there must be a problem! I'd better get that ovulation monitor and lots more tests.")

Mikewazowskismrs · 10/03/2019 10:33

1 year for us

TheFatberg · 10/03/2019 10:34

Yeah 5 weeks is just one cycle so nothing to get wound up about.

ShowOfHands · 10/03/2019 10:37

Read the statement under the "one third" statistic.

maybesometimes · 10/03/2019 10:37

2 years for No.1
1 month for No.2

🤷🏼‍♀️

Myboy07 · 10/03/2019 10:39

Took us 5 months. Consider ourselves very lucky

MsSquiz · 10/03/2019 10:45

Just over a third isn't "most couples", it isn't even half!

DH and I are currently on our 6th month and we are both 32 TTC DC1 (6th month of "trying", 18th month of not using contraception)

OhDiddums · 10/03/2019 10:54

It took me 6 months to get pregnant--unfortunately ended in miscarriage.
Then it took me 14 months to get pregnant again-ended in another miscarriage.
Since then it took me 2 more cycles to get pregnant again. My second and current pregnancies I used opks and fell pregnant within 2 cycles. I also have suspected endometriosis and part of one of my ovaries removed so those things are definitely a factor. Although I know people who come off contraception and fall within a few cycles. I definitely think opks have helped as I have longer cycles.
