Spring is in the air and it's time for a new thread!

Basically: a wonderful bunch of ladies supporting each other through the TTC journey when trying for a first baby after 35.

Here's hoping we get some spring BFP luck for all of us!! 🍀🐣🍀🐣

I think MNHQ might use bots to enforce their guidelines @wannabemum38 and maybe it was triggered by being a new poster and mentioning a brand name (I've seen some pretty offensive username on other boards, so I really don't think you'd trigger it with yours!). We're forever swapping info on what vits/lubes we're trying and have never triggered it before - all really rather odd!

Is this your first cycle TTC? Good luck, if so 🤞🏻🍀🙂

Ha, weird @wannabemum38. Yeah my guessing is it was the name, although it's accurate enough!

I've just been conned out of a FRER again. My period is late and given how I actually saw conclusive proof I ovulated at the right time this month I thought maybe, against the odds, it had worked this month.
But no, BFN and I think I feel AF coming now. Just pissed my fiver down the drain.

wannabemum38 · 26/06/2019 14:35

Yes very odd hopefully won't delete me anymore! Maybe cos I mentioned a certain drug store straight away it thought I was advertising as first post.
Yes first cycle TTC and came off the pop pill so no idea when ovulation is going to be. I know you are meant to wait at least a month but we are just going to see what happens. I had a MC 18 years ago at 9 weeks so am alittle nervous of that happening again I'm also rhesus negative blood group as is my sister but at least I know so I believe if I do get blessed then I have to have injections at some point.

QuantumGirl · 26/06/2019 14:42

@79andnotout at least you didn't test early, you had a legitimate reason therefore in my eyes it was an investment 😉

@BambiOnIce80 if I were you I would call the ivf clinic ASAP to see if they have a cancelled appointment. Unpredictable delays might happen so the earlier the appointment the better. And don't forget Mr Rocket will take care of any stress 😻

I'm feeling better and going on hols in a few days 😎🏖 and have sent the clinic an email summarising my situation so hopefully they will get back to me with a plan.

Also, looking at my thyroid tests, it made me think of the immune tests I did few months ago and reading about it they were saying (they =Google) that natural killer cells are something the cause of unexplained infertility. Have you guys looked into it? Just an idea.

BambiOnIce80 · 26/06/2019 15:13

Well, if you're really lucky @wannabemum38 you might catch before your first AF 🤞🏻🍀

Good to hear from you @QuantumGirl and very glad to hear you're feeling a bit better too 🙂 Your holiday sounds like it's come at the right time ☀️🍹🏝

I have indeed done a 💩 tonne of reading about uNK cells after my fertility acupuncturist was advocating me getting tested/at least looking into it. I've attached a few of articles that I found really helpful about getting my head around it:

academic.oup.com/humrep/article/30/7/1519/653309

www.rcog.org.uk/en/guidelines-research-services/guidelines/the-role-of-natural-killer-cells-in-human-fertility-scientific-impact-paper-no.-53/

www.hfea.gov.uk/treatments/explore-all-treatments/treatment-add-ons/

I obviously have my opinion about it (🤓), but I don't want to sway you one way or another so let me know if you fancy discussing it after you've had your hols.x

Good to hear you sounding more upbeat @QuantumGirl. Off anywhere nice on holiday? I'm heading back home to ireland for a wedding this weekend but I guess that's not really a holiday.

My sister did all those NK tests with her clinic and didn't find anything troubling. What were your thyroid results? Did they check your antibodies too?

wannabemum38 · 26/06/2019 15:22

@BambiOnIce80 cross fingers my OH is currently in hospital recovering from a wrist operation he had this morning not that having his arm in a cast has stopped any action so far Wink

Carley321 · 26/06/2019 19:44

Hello @wannabemum38 😊. Good luck with your journey. Hope it happens for you soon.

What a scandal @79andnotout I hate pissing on a 5a.

Have a fab holiday @QuantumGirl it does sound like its perfect timing for you. So glad your feeling better.

Ok so @BambiOnIce80 I’ve got myself all concerned.... the blood results... I’m obviously completely blind to all those numbers and names. But why did you think it was older blood results? Is there anything abnormal or borderline abnormal in them at all? Please tell? My anxious mind is a bloody pain in the arse. But I do like facts. Lol.

wannabemum38 · 26/06/2019 19:52

Thank you @Carley321 same to you :)

BambiOnIce80 · 26/06/2019 23:14

Argh, sorry for the BFN @79andnotout 😔 I bloody hate it when that happens! At least you've got the green light for the weeding this weekend though 🍾🥂😉

Sorry @Carley321, didn't mean to freak you out! You used to have a longer cycle is all, so that's why I supposed that the CD23 bloods gave a higher progesterone. For example, if someone ovulates on CD14 then you'd expect the progesterone to be higher than 28 on CD21. However, your cycle is still roughly 32ish days (isn't it?), which would tie in with the CD23 bloods giving a higher progesterone level and indicating that you've ovulated... In a nutshell, your results are exactly normal for the cycle length that you have 🤓 No anxiety required there lovely.x

So. Took your advice @QuantumGirl and tried to ring the clinic about whether they've had any cancellations to try and get a sooner appointment - couldn't get through 😏 I wonder if the whole shebang is closed due to the cleaning thing? 🤔 I'll try again tomorrow, just in case 👍

Carley321 · 27/06/2019 06:46

Thank you @BambiOnIce80 😊 yes 32 days. So just to confirm... there is nothing I should be questioning my doctor about?

Just wanted to say another thank you to all you ladies. I really would have gone bat shit crazy by now if it wasn’t for this forum 💗.

Anyone on here have any experience with endometriosis? I’ve obviously already diagnosed myself!

CNizzle · 27/06/2019 07:57

Hi! I'm back! Thanks for the tag @bambionice80 I've been mega busy, holiday to Barcelona, & DP has been setting up a new business, so we've been bonkers-busy & quite stressed (not bonking much tho!).
@Carley32 (@Carley321?) I had a lap a few months back. Wasn't anything too scary, other than I've never had any sort of anaesthetic/op before. Was a bit sore & cramps for a few days after, but otherwise ok. I was also convinced I had endo. Really painful periods, but apparently no lesions to be found. Ive got one "slow" tube, but they dont do anything for "slow" according to my specialist. Don't let them discuss the results with you when you've just come round, insist on a follow-up, you'll be more gaga than you realise!

Only managed to dtd a couple of times this month, 5 &4 days before ov, so I'm not holding out hope this month. Typically AF is due on Saturday when I'm at an all day wedding. Urgh. Hoping the agony of AF doesn't put me of having a nice day.

CNizzle · 27/06/2019 10:04

Ooh & congratulations on the kitten @bambionice80!

BambiOnIce80 · 27/06/2019 10:55

Totally confirmed @Carley321 - nothing untoward on those results for that stage of your cycle 👍 Your progesterone is supposed to be high (and confirm ov) about 7 days before AF is due, which is why the CD21 one for you is borderline - it was taken too soon post ov for your 32 day cycle, if that makes sense? That's why your CD23 one is all good in the hood 😎 When you get your CD0-5 results, give me a shout 🤓

Crikey @CNizzle, I knew you'd be busy but that's crazy, crazy busy! 😂 Very exciting about your DP's new business - good luck to him 🍀 The kitten is awesome, thank you! 😻 He's making me less broody (if I worry this much about keeping a kitten alive, I dread to think what I'd be like with a bambino! 😨), whereas DP is now more baby broody! 😏

@Carley321 I had a lap for endometriosis 8 years ago. I had pelvic pain that I would feel each cycle between Day 3 and Day 6... so it made me think it wasn't normal period pain. It was a stressful time emotionally and I feel that had something to do with it. During the lap they diagnosed it (I had stage 3 endo) and they removed it. The pain came back however a few months later, which I was told could happen... then someone recommended progesterone cream and speaking to a hormone doctor called Shirley Bond. I also started seeing a counsellor for the personal issues. I'm not sure if it was the cream or dealing with personal issues but something must have helped... as the pelvic pain went away after about 1.5 years. The doctor (Dr Bond) did say to me that the endo takes a few months to build, so with right changes, it'll take a few months to heal.

79andnotout · 27/06/2019 18:02

Hey @CNizzle good to hear from you! Sounds like you have been busy.

AF arrived this morning but not before I wasted another FRER goddammit.

Anyway had a call from the clinic earlier and shits getting real. Our results were fine and because of my age they've fast tracked us. Got an appointment with the consultant next week. I wasn't expecting things to move that quickly at all. All hail the NHS!

I've got several work trips booked and paid for. Not sure what to do about those, I was kinda hoping to hide this from work. Guess I make that call after the appointment.

Carley321 · 27/06/2019 19:41

Thank you for the info @CNizzle. So nothing that would need recovery time?

I want to book privately if we can afford it so o can have it done then bugger off on holidays to mope or celebrate.

Thank you @BambiOnIce80 I definitely will 😊

@birdbybird hello. Thank you for sharing. How bad was the pelvic pain if you don’t mind me asking and did you only have it for those few days?

I have more of a discomfort/dull ache in my pelvic/hip/side area. And it is worse every other month and during ovulation. It’s uncomfortable before af but worse at ovulation. So once it’s gone, does your chances of conceiving etc go back to a normal range? There is so much mixed information out there.

Carley321 · 27/06/2019 19:43

Sorry @CNizzle I didn’t realise my first half of the message got deleted. You have been busy, not always a bad thing though. Barcelona sounds brill! Very exciting about DP... how is that going?

CNizzle · 28/06/2019 22:34

@Carley32 it's going ok. Do is a screen printer, ran his previous business with his friend as partner for over 10 years, been doing quite well & starting to take on staff. Then partner fecked off to Spain in october and said he'd "keep doing the paperwork" turns out this means checking emails and firing jobs at DP faster than they could be done whilst still basking in 50% of the profit!! Anyway. Long story short , DP is setting up himself got new equipment & a load of his old clients, whilst "partner" is still in Spain. (He's not so much on holiday, more travelling/doing odd jobs/ living the hippy lifestyle) it's been rather stressful. dp hates conflict & didn't challenge him on it all til v recently. It's been pretty awful, but there's light at the end of the tunnel, so hopefully he'll start to earn some pennies soon!!! Barcelona was awesome, as ever, & came at the perfect time with all the business stress. We were at a festival with another couple, we have been so many times before, not much tourist stuff. Plenty of chilling on the balcony & breakfast shandies!

birdbybird · 01/07/2019 10:53

@Carley321 It was more than a discomfort, and yes don't remember it other than around CD3-6... also don't remember experiencing it mid-cycle around ovulation.
I've not done much research into whether endometriosis can interfere with conceiving as I wasn't TTC at the time I had it. I'm pregnant now, so the fact that I once diagnosed with it, doesn't seem to have prevented pregnancy.

Carley321 · 01/07/2019 20:35

@CNizzle well his partner sounds like he had a good end to the deal ☀️ What a bloody cheek though! My DP isn’t a fan of confrontation either... mind you who is!
Well at least has made it by himself and sounds like he’s off to a good start. Lots of luck for you both 🍀

@birdbybird thanks for sharing. There are so many different things to read, it’s scary stuff! And I am someone who literally cannot cope with the unknown.

How was everyone’s weekend? I finally got a chance to get out and enjoy the sun with the pooches 💗.

BambiOnIce80 · 02/07/2019 07:54

Oooh, that's exciting about the fast-tracked appointment @79andnotout! 🤩 You could be upduffed before summer is over at this rate! 🤞🏻🍀 Looking forward to hearing about how your appointment goes this week.x

How's your DP's wrist doing @wannabemum38? I hope normal service has resumed?! 😉

I hope you and bump are doing OK @birdbybird?x

Glad you've had some time to enjoy the sun @Carley32 🌞 It was 🤬ing it down on Saturday here and I was hanging when it was nice weather on Sunday, but never mind! 🍸🤦‍♀️

So. I rang the clinic to see if there were any cancellations to be able to move my appointment forward, but there isn't. I was actually relieved when she said it! 😪 We're so busy between now and December that unless we started immediately we wouldn't be available for the appointments anyway 🙄 I'm just going to accept that it's likely to be December and leave it at that/keep December as free as possible 👍

birdbybird · 02/07/2019 10:27

@BambiOnIce80 I'm doing ok... not much of a bump noticeable at 17 weeks, although it varies over the course of the day. Tests so far so good.
Having some vivid dreams so planning to get a diary.
Did go through the nausea and vomiting... and thought I was over it, but was sick twice yesterday.
OH sent me a link to a co-sleeper this morning that his colleague recommended... and I went through a few minutes of "what have I done"!
Glad to hear you have your appointment!

wannabemum38 · 02/07/2019 11:20

@BambiOnIce80 Operation went well. Managing to DTD okay despite the cast. I had nasty pain in my pelvic area during week on left hand side it's gone now probably my body adjusting coming off pill.

wannabemum38 · 02/07/2019 15:25

Just took an ov test am I seeing things or is that definitely two lines?! It's not the first wee of day so second line is faint. I can't believe I'm ovulating already I only came off pill last Sunday so 9/10 days ago.
