Spring is in the air and it's time for a new thread!

Basically: a wonderful bunch of ladies supporting each other through the TTC journey when trying for a first baby after 35.

Here's hoping we get some spring BFP luck for all of us!! 🍀🐣🍀🐣

Hey ladies, my DH managed to do the SA - yay! Though he found it traumatic and is a bit sore as a result 😳 @BambiOnIce80 he hates the idea of porn and apparently they only had 2 magazines in the room! Grin

@Laney79 peak is definitely holding off as I’m on day 6 of high readings on the monitor. This is the first time this has happened as I usually have around 3 highs then peak. Last month was unusual too as I went from low straight to peak with no highs. Not really sure what my body is doing! Managed to dtd this morning - though at one point I didn’t think it would happen after the horrors of the SA.

Hope you’re all o.k. It’s horrible that ttc is so pressurised x

I made an effort to go to the gym a bit more last week to try to help me relax, but ended up having practically a whole bottle of wine to myself last night.

@79andnotout sorry to hear about you friend 💐 🤞for positive news.

Russkispy · 24/03/2019 08:09

I'm 11dp5dt today and it's BFP! I could see the pregnancy line was appearing first but walked away as wanted to wait for full results. Head is full of everything and trying to take deep breaths!! Going for beta tomorrow.

Laney79 · 24/03/2019 08:55

Wonderful news @Russkispy fingers crossed for you.

Ladies-can I get thoughts on the witch that is AF? Bit of background...went on the pill (microgynon then mercilon) at 18, and came off it sept 2017-couple of months after my 38th birthday...so periods were a bit all over the place initially as you'd expect but before I got a regular pattern I fell Pregnant. Miscarried that baby, long drawn out process with drugs but eventually had two 26 day cycles (12/13 day luteal phase) then caught again. Miscarried again, lost that one naturally. Cycles since then have been irregular -53 days, 35,28,24,32...but it's not just the cycle length it's the actual bleed that's worrying me now...

I'm CD3 today. So had a bit of spotting thurs eve...Friday AF began-heavy and bright red when I went to the loo but very little on the pad (only really needed one all day!) -loo trips every 2-3 hours. That carried on till mid afternoon yesterday when it slowed right down to very light flow and turned darker/brown. Today it's only there on wiping and is brown. Surely this is far too short? On the basis of the past couple of cycles I may get a mini gush or two today/tomorrow but basically spotting only from here on in for 2-3 days if that. That's how the last three cycles have been. It doesn't seem long enough...so now I'm worrying about ashermans or lining being too thin for pregnancy or early menopause (40 this July) -what do you ladies think? Am I just being neurotic?

Got a GP appt on weds so will ask her then but any thoughts and experiences would be appreciated. Xxx

fnej01 · 24/03/2019 09:05

Congrats @Russkispy fingers crossed for a happy and healthy 9 months x

@Laney79 my periods sound very similar post miscarriage, but have been told not to worry. I got them to check the lining last month when they scanned and it was 11mm which they said was good.
Unfortunately I think it is just our bodies recovering.
X

Carley32 · 24/03/2019 10:02

@Laney79 I stopped the pill last May and since then I had and 87 40 37 31 33 and 39. Af is extremely light for me, literally a few spots for a day and a half, except my latest month which was spotting for 2 days and 1 heavy day. But that’s it. I was hoping they are finally getting back to normal until I realised I ovulated somewhere around cd25 so looking like another 40ish day cycle. Our bodies are so bloody confusing.

I have been to the doctors and she did some bloods but all came back fine. She also said that it’s normal for it to take a year to regain some normality after BC. I still feel uneasy over it all though, and I’m a worrier anyway which doesn’t help.

Carley32 · 24/03/2019 10:03

All those numbers where my cycle lengths lol. I need to start re-reading before posting.

Weathergirl1 · 24/03/2019 20:07

Just checking back in here to see how everyone is. Congratulations @russkispy !

@BambiOnIce80 sorry to hear about the stress with the heart testing 🤞 everything is ok.

@PixieN glad your OH managed to get his test done - it does sound quite traumatic!

It still feels a bit weird for me. I have now got a stronger line (nearly same as control line) on a One Step but I'm still not counting chickens. Next aim is getting to the Drs appointment a week on Tuesday.

Hope you all had a good weekend and 🤞 to everyone entering FW.

Weathergirl1 · 24/03/2019 20:10

@VenusStarr really sorry this is happening to you - I can't imagine what it's like 💐

Russkispy · 24/03/2019 20:15

Thank you lovely ladies! Praying and crossing everything that this one sticks!

Kescilly · 24/03/2019 23:58

Sorry it’s been awhile!

@VenusStarr I’m so sorry to hear about what you’re going through. It’s really unfair and I wanted you to know that I’m thinking of you.

@BambiOnIce80 it sounds like you’re really being put through it as well. I hope that you had a nice day out at the National Trust property. I’d love to see more of them but there are hardly any nearby.

@Russkispy it sounds like congratulations are in order! Good luck for everything.

BambiOnIce80 · 25/03/2019 07:47

Good morning ladies 🌞 I hope everyone had a good weekend and is ready to do the week?! 😁

That is a lovely strong line @Russkispy!! 😍 Keeping everything crossed for your blood result 🤞🏻🍀

Fingers-crossed for you too @Weathergirl1 🤞🏻 I'm sure the weirdness won't last too long 😉

Did your peak turn up @PixieN? Hope DP's not too sore anymore! 😄

Hope you had a relaxing time this weekend @Carley32?x

Lovely to hear from you @Kescilly! ❤️ Hope everything's good at your end and you're not feeling poorly anymore? How long have you got to go now? I'm doing OK thanks - the ECG was 'normal' so I'm chilling until I get the cardiology referral... No point worrying unless they give me something to worry about! 😉

On the AF front @Laney79, mine were a lot lighter when I had the mirena coil out (mine were really heavy and long before I had it fitted). A year on I'd say they've gotten a bit heavier and lasting about the same amount of time as they ued to, but the icky brown spotting thing goes on for about the last 4 days (first 3 days are heavy-moderate). @79andnotout had a really good method for checking how much bleeding we're actually getting - have you ever thought of using a mooncup? Much easier to figure out how much you're bleeding and then you can look into if it's normal for reassurance. I'm nearly out of tampax, so think I'll be investing in a couple this cycle (just because I'm fed up of spending a fortune on sanitary products and then throwing them away! Need to do my bit for the planet!). @79andnotout and @CNizzle - any recommendations on which brand to get/avoid?

CD25 here, AF due CD28/29 and not much to report (rather boringly! 😏). NT place was lovely and I managed to refrain from buying a Outlander magnet (it was touch and go though!). Went on a netflix binge of season 2 of the OA yesterday - if I didn't have to go to work today, I think I'd still be glued to the TV watching it! Thoroughly recommend giving season 1 a go if you need some TTC distraction - didn't reach for my phone once yesterday! 😯

Kescilly · 25/03/2019 11:23

Oh that’s a relief @BambiOnIce80. I agree that there is no use worrying unless someone tells you to. I hope that you continue to have normal, boring results!

I’m doing better, thank you. I’ll be 31 weeks on Wednesday and it’s suddenly all become a bit too real! We have our first NCT class tomorrow so I’m hoping that is useful, though I have a bit of social anxiety about that as well. I look quite massive for how far along I am. Blush Baby is still measuring large, so I have my third glucose test on Friday.

pattyhoo · 25/03/2019 12:32

Good luck @Russkispy ! Smile

WrexhamBuxom · 25/03/2019 16:14

Just checking in following a lovely weekend. We definitely have the first T part of TTC down. Wink

Unfortunately, I just don't think the timing worked out for us this month. I think based on when I got my LH surge, and when I probably Oed (was not able to temp all weekend) we would have maybe MAYBE had one shot at it. Don't get me wrong...the lovemaking has been abundant and enjoyable the last few days. But, I think there was really only one time that could have been okay timing-wise, and really, that is only IF the timing was perfect....if I had a long time between LH Surge and ovulation. And, just...considering my age, I doubt that was the case.

Russkispy · 25/03/2019 16:58

Ladies, just got my HCG results. It's 781! I have to repeat beta in Wednesday. I'm absolutely gobsmacked! With my DD I only had 100! I don't even know what to think! Wow!

Carley32 · 25/03/2019 18:55

Glad your not worrying @BambiOnIce80 Good attitude to have 👍.
Well It started off as bad as the previous weeks. But had a good talk with DP yesterday morning (I think the sunshine offers a sense of calm) and feeling a bit more relaxed today. Although the unexpected and not even feeling confident in pouncing during FW is pissing me off slightly 🙈.

I will defo give OH a whirl, love a good Netflix binge!

So pleased your well @Kescilly good luck for tomoz.

You never know @WrexhamBuxom 🤞

Carley32 · 25/03/2019 19:01

I’m cd28 and still getting quite a clear second line on IC opks to! So bloody bizarre!

PixieN · 25/03/2019 21:41

Congratulations @Russkispy 💕 That’s lovely news.

Hope all goes well for you @Weathergirl1 x

@BambiOnIce80 - I had my peak yesterday morning and this morning, but the internet cheapies didn’t show much of a line last night. Managed to dtd a few times so it can’t have been too bad for DH Wink🤞

@Laney79 My periods seem to be lighter and I have more spotting now. I’ve never been on the pill or had a coil fitted so not really sure why. I also worry that it’s a sign of getting older!

Lovely to hear from you @kescilly Good luck at the NCT class Smile

BambiOnIce80 · 26/03/2019 12:39

@Kescilly, I know a few people who have made lifelong friends from their NCT classes, so please don't be anxious! 🙂 I hope your new GTT gives you some answers too.x

They say one shot is all it takes @WrexhamBuxom, so you should be in with a chance🤞🏻

Fabulous result @Russkispy! 😍 Sounding really, really positive!!🍀🍀🍀

I understand the being pissed off thing @Carley32 - because of the nature of the problem it's all on their terms, isn't it?! 😕 DP did try to cross the picket line again at about 2am a couple of nights ago, which obviously involved waking me up 😴😤 My sleepy brain wasn't able to formulate a tactful let down, so I basically emitted a low growl (a bit like a non-in heat lioness telling an amorous lion to 🤬 right off 🦁😬) and he pretty much got the message that it can't always be on his terms, whenever he wants and not work both ways 😏 On the OPK front, I'm CD26 and tempted to POAS just to see what it does so that we can compare and contrast! 😂 I wouldn't normally bother this late in the cycle, but I'll do it for you! 😉

Sounds like you've had excellent timing this month @PixieN 👌😊 Hoping you'll be getting good news at the end of your TWW 🤞🏻🍀🤞🏻🍀

Oh my goodness, @Russkispy congratulations xxx

@bambionice80 wrt mooncups. I've got a few, I bought the actual brand mooncup from boots, but I find the silicone a bit hard, so it's tricky to get out & the stem was too long, but it's otherwise fine. My go-to cup is a brand called lali cup (I tgink) it's much softer, and although the stem is longer, it's thinner so i can't feel it when inserted.
I've got a dutchess cup too, that came in 2 sizes in the one box (Amazon maybe?) And it's ok. Not too expensive And at least you could try the different sizes to see what suits.
Definitely a period game-changer for me. I'm currently trying to convert my sister!
Definitely check out putacupinit .com for some great info

BambiOnIce80 · 26/03/2019 18:26

You're a star @CNizzle, thank you! 🤩 How are you doing? Is AF over?x

Weathergirl1 · 26/03/2019 18:55

@CNizzle and @BambiOnIce80 just seen you talking about mooncups! I've been using a branded one for just over 10 years (actually I've had two in that time) and agree, complete game changer for me (always hated the mess with pads and tampons just unpleasant if they aren't full when you remove them). Not really had an issue with the silicone being too stiff but did have to trim the stem a bit to make it comfortable. I have heard others recommend various sites that have questionnaires to determine which type is most suitable but Mooncup was the only widely known one around when I got mine (still find the sizing odd though - at 39 I still don't have an issue with the smallest one that they say is for those under 30).

Carley32 · 26/03/2019 19:34

I have certainly been there @BambiOnIce80 in fact I am feeling like that more and more, weather it’s through anger or fear of being let down once more, I’m not sure, but DP is fronted with that lioness growl more and more lately! Not good when ttc I know. But the frustration gets to me.
Well done to you for standing your ground 🦁😊. Thank you for sharing. It’s nice to know it’s not completely abnormal! 🤪

Ooo exciting @BambiOnIce80 thank you 😘. Let me know how you get on.
I don’t usually test after I think I have a peak but after the strong lines twice had to have a look. But I’m out of tests at the moment so have no choice but to stop.

How on earth does anyone get the recommended every 2/3 days in? 🙄 I’m lucky to get in 2/3 days over fertile week! 😣

Anyone who has got their BFP lately please share any advice you may have ❤️

Hope everyone is having a good start to the week! ☀️

CNizzle · 26/03/2019 20:04

Honestly, @carley32 I've no idea about the 2-3 days either. Three times absolute max in fw and that feels like a slog!!! Haha
@bambionice80 I'm much better since AF finished, thanks. Due to ov on saturday/sunday, but I'm going down to mum's for the weekend on my own on Friday. Will need to try & get a few goes in before I leave!

Having loads of issues in work just now, so the idea of a year off on mat leave is looking rosier & rosier!!
