Hi lovely ladies.

I'm out for Feb as AF showed up, I want to start using ovulation sticks for this next cycle.

What brands do you use and where do you get them from? (I'm in the UK).

Also any advice will be gratefully received.

I use the clear blue digital ovulation tests. I think they r very good and I get them in boots. Good luck

Iilana · 21/02/2019 15:37

@hopeful thank you, when do test everyday or just when you think you're ovulation will occur via app?

Ova View from Amazon.

hopeful31 · 21/02/2019 15:42

I usually start testing about 4-5 after af. I test every day until I hit peak. The clear blue are a bit more expensive but I find them worth it. There will be a circle is your are not fertile. A flashing smiley face means that u are highly fertile ( but keep testing every day) eventually u will get a non flashing smiley which means that u will ovulate within the next 24-36 hours . Xx

Iilana · 21/02/2019 15:45

Thanks @bostonfern do you poas every day or just when you think you're in your fw?

@hopeful31 thank you they do sound nice and clear, thank you for the advice. My cycles been a bit irregular some I'm hoping to lock that window down.

I'm irregular too. I go from cycles lasting 29-39 days. Although I haven't had a bfp yet . But I think they r clear. Good luck

BostonFern · 21/02/2019 15:55

Each day about CD7 and then for a few days after getting a positive.

Iilana · 21/02/2019 16:04

@hopeful31 @boston fern thank you so much.
How long have you been using opks?

OP posts:
BostonFern · 21/02/2019 16:06

Two cycles

Iilana · 21/02/2019 16:48

@bostonfern are they easy to use? Do you do it just in the morning with fmu?

OP posts:
BostonFern · 21/02/2019 16:51

Really easy, I used early evening urine, then kept track of them on an app called Glow.

Iilana · 21/02/2019 17:43

@bostonfern thank you I'll check ot out I wonder if it's similar to clue.

I use one step IC. They work fine

Iilana · 22/02/2019 13:14

Thanks @whyhaveidonethis where do you gets yours from?

whyhaveidonethis · 22/02/2019 13:53

@iliana amazon.

Anaesthetist83 · 22/02/2019 16:26

One Step on amazon. Agree they work absolutely fine and in my opinion, there is no point spending more on a fancy packet and holder/smiley face! I get given the clear blue by the Fertility clinic and have found they 100% correlate with the One Step

hopeful31 · 22/02/2019 16:40

I'm sure they all do work the same. I don't buy the clear blue for the fancy packet. More because 3 of my friends are pregnant, and all used them. So they came recommended and worked for them. Also i like that it tells me via smiley face when I'm ovulating rather than figuring out if the darkness of the lines match up or not. But yes they are more expensive. Good luck @Iilana with ur ttc journey. 🤞🏼 u get a bfp quickly xx

hellenbackagen · 22/02/2019 16:43

I use clear blue digital with dial hormone . My cycle is around 30 days and start on day 10. Usually only use 4 or 5 then get static smiley then stop testing. (Static means LH surge detected)

I back up with internet cheapies on the day I get the static.

Pricey tests but lasts me 4 or 5 cycles with the 20 pack. I get them off amazon.

Anaesthetist83 · 22/02/2019 16:56

@hopeful31 that’s fine if it is your choice.... your friends may well have all got pregnancy without using them, or if they had used cheaper tests. Unfortunately there is a huge industry profiting from people’s desperation to conceive and a lot of non scientific information out there. It is an individual choice at the end of the day, but I would prefer to save the additional money for something else - but each to their own

hopeful31 · 22/02/2019 17:05

Absolutely each to their own. I just wanted to point out that it wasn't due to the fancy packet that everyone uses them and people may use them for other reasons. It's a personal choice due to preference and financial choice.

Good luck with ur own ttc journey @Anaesthetist83

Poundland ones work perfectly. 5 for £1. These or cheapo amazon ones.

hellenbackagen · 22/02/2019 19:13

I agree hopeful I think they take away the guesswork. Clear blue are very easy to read. When using cheapies alone I struggle to hit the exact time that the control line and test line are exactly the same.

I also like that with the clear blue you can just test once a day first thing in morning.
I use these because I am 46 and do not have time to mess about . (I got pg at 44 but didn't end well in second trimester). I still ovulate so I use the easiest test to decipher for me.
