Home insemination

Hi everyone,

We are looking to start a family and unfortunately we are unable to conceive the traditional way. Hence, we are looking into home insemination kit.

It's an exciting time for both me & my husband. Though I'm a little nervous of how to start? I've seen a number of insemination kits online and OPK kits. I'm seeking for advice from someone who has done / is doing home insemination for some encouragement.

The information is vast out there and I'm a little confused as to what / which kits I really need.

I look forward to hearing from you all.

Many thanks

Thanks again for starting this thread. Just wondering if anyone can enlighten me about pre seed - what is it? A lubricant or do you add it to the sperm?
I've got a kit from Amazon with some massive looking pots! And syringes, do I need a 'speculum' or just the syringe?
Thanks all.

Hi guys , how we all getting on ? Xx

Bigbear123 · 24/09/2019 19:18

@Faye32 we did 3 inseminations in August but it wasn't our month. My period has been weird- I'm getting spots (very very light- no need for pads) for about 10 days. Not sure what happened with all the hormones. Waiting for my upcoming fertile period and we are trying again. How has it been for you all ladies? Xx

Faye32 · 25/09/2019 10:30

Hey, same for me had 3 attempts just this month but period has arrived yesterday so moving on to the next round !!!!! We just have to keep on going don’t we! That’s a weird one with the spotting just prob a dodgy period it can happen sometimes xx

MyRaGaiaStarFishPieA · 25/09/2019 10:41

Bigbear, have you done a pregnancy test this week? Very often light spotting can be implantation bleeding. I mistook it for a period and didn't find out I was pregnant until 4 weeks later !

Bigbear123 · 26/09/2019 19:01

@MyRaGaiaStarFishPieA and all!

I did a pregnancy test last night and it came up positive! Didn't quite believe it but I'm now 7 weeks pregnant. Husband and I are in shock but we are happy (and anxious too).

I'll keep us updated. I want to thank all the messages on here and your super POSITIVE energy. You all have helped me on this journey!

Love. Xx

@Faye32 you will get there eventually. What this has taught me is to be patient- probably easier said than done. Your time will come. I'm praying for you and I'm sending you all the positive vibes xx

Faye32 · 28/09/2019 07:47

Bigbear, try not to worry I understand though but it’s going to be fine! Just take each day as it comes !! Xx amazing xx

GrannySquares · 28/09/2019 16:49

Congratulations! X

Bigbear123 · 28/09/2019 18:18

@Faye32 we did 3 insems over a period of 10 days (fertile window). We did it just before bedtime so I lied there and went to sleep after that. We have been trying insems since February so 7 months. But it has been a long way coming as we had struggled with my vaginusmis for a 4 years! I'm praying for a happy & healthy pregnancy. Xxx

Bigbear wow it’s so amazing !! Ok Iv not really tried it this way Iv just waited for the positve ovulation test etc . Your going to be just fine - keep smiling and putting good energy into your body xx did you get any symptoms other than the weird spotting you had ? Xx

rainbowstardrops · 29/09/2019 08:04

Fantastic news!

As an aside for anyone else trying to conceive via home insemination, I was once told to lay down with a pillow under you and legs raised (against a wall). It helps to get the sperm where it needs to be without losing too much of it 🤷🏻‍♀️

Bigbear123 · 29/09/2019 09:06

@Faye32 I didn't get any other symptoms apart from very very light spotting for 10 days. Thank you for your wise words - I must keep positive as my body & mind need that.

@MyRaGaiaStarFishPieA thanks for telling me to take the test. I'd have carried on as normal and God knows when I'd find out. THANK YOU!

@QOD thanks for sharing your story! It's good to know there are people out there went through what I'm going through.

@GrannySquares thank you!

@Whatnext11 sorry for the late reply. I did try Preseed but I applied it to my fingers and then massage it around the outside of my vagina. I found the Preseed tube was too big and it caused me pain. The actual lubricant was helpful as it eased me when I finally insert the 1ml syringe of sperm inside me. The lubricant helped me relaxed as well so I'd say it's worth it.

Good luck with your journey!

@bigbear123 thank you. So very pleased to hear your good news, congratulations!
I unsubscribed from all my threads a few weeks back as felt I was going a bit mad so took a while to find these threads again. Been a bit distracted as I got my BFP! I never really believed it would work, have never thought about actually being pregnant so had to do a lot of reading very quickly!
I hope this news encourages others, it can work.

Bigbear123 · 30/09/2019 19:36

@Whatnext11 Aww massive congratulations!! Wonderful news. I'm so pleased for you!

And yes to all the ladies out out there - please keep doing it. It has happened to me and it will happen to you xx

Whatnext11 · 07/10/2019 20:03

@bigbear123 than you! Feels weird to now be 'normal' this side of conception, in a way I'm just like everyone else going through pregnancy for the first time. I haven't felt normal for years!

Faye32 · 02/12/2019 08:18
