Bfn before bfp?

Cat249 · 30/01/2019 14:38

Hi, never posted before just looking for a little reassurance and hope.
I took a hpt yesterday, day before af due, and a got a clear bfn. Today, still no af but I've not had any pms symptoms all week. Normally have the worst sore boobs that they can't be touched, not even the softest material. No irrational emotional outbursts either.
Have had a metallic taste, kept thinking there was blood in my mouth but checked and there's nothing there. Been overly gassy, hilarious to my OH. Fatigued and vivid dreams. And weirdly, my skin has been so itchy the last couple of days.
I've not been symptom spotting on purpose, gave up on that months ago, just a few observations. If I hadn't checked my tracking app then I wouldn't have realised af is due.
Anyone else had to wait a couple days after af due date?

Yes! Got bfn, went on hen party, no af, came home, bfp... 😳 Ds2 is 20mo 😁 Fingers crossed...

Cat249 · 30/01/2019 15:47

@haypanky I'm glad it does happen! A little hope regained. I'm too scared to test again just in case I o'd later than I thought and the nasty witch gets me in a few days. My plan was to do it tomorrow but not sure whether to wait until Friday Confused

Mrsmummy90 · 30/01/2019 16:18

I was 10 days late for af before I got my bfp. I'm now 15 weeks pregnant 😊

Cat249 · 30/01/2019 17:14

@mrsmummy90 I'm guessing you tested within that time? That must have been an agonising 10 days! I want one or the other, the not knowing is the frustrating part

OP posts:
Mrsmummy90 · 30/01/2019 17:18

I tested about 4 times lol. I was so confused as af wasn't anywhere to be seen but I kept getting bfn's and I didn't have any pregnancy symptoms either. I finally got a positive on a CB digital on day 10.

Manycatsandallthegin · 30/01/2019 17:53

Hey, fingers crossed for you. Im currently 8 days late but no symptoms except tiredness and weird moods. I really hope youre pregnant but ive heard if its too early for a postitive test then its too early to be getting symptoms due to pregnancy. Might just be coincidental. That being said - i hope im wrong! Fingers crossed for you x

Manycatsandallthegin · 30/01/2019 17:54

Mrsmummy90 - how recently did you experience this and did you feel pregnant? I stopped testing on saturday. Cant take the disappointment. If its still not arrived by friday will test then but not expecting good news now!

Cat249 · 30/01/2019 17:57

@mrsmummy90 I hope im not waiting that long for a definite answer, I think I'd go crazy! The only symptom that suggests I might be is the metallic taste, I've had it for about a week now. The fatigue and dreams are normal for me and gas could be food related so not getting my hopes up.
Is this your first? Are you finding out the sex? Hope it's all going smoothly for you Smile

Orangedaisy · 30/01/2019 17:57

Tested on Saturday, the day af due. BFN. Waited until Tuesday, tested at 3am Bfp. DD now nearly 2. Good luck

Cat249 · 30/01/2019 18:05

@manycatsandallthegin yeah, I've heard that too so I'm not expecting to be. And like I said in my previous comment to mrsmummy90, the only one that is completely out the blue is the weird metallic taste. All the others are fairly normal or could be related to something else. I really hope I am, would be great to not hit the 1 year mark next month! I hope you are too! You see so many people that find out from as early as 8dpo, it gets frustrating. Would be nice to be a thread of late bloomers!

Orangedaisy · 30/01/2019 18:07

We’d been trying for 15 months btw.

Manycatsandallthegin · 30/01/2019 18:07

Yes totally agree! I felt i was “out” because didnt get a bfp 9dpo like it feels the majority do! Hope your symptoms are correct! Lets keep each other up to date in hee! And any other late bloomers!

Do you find yourself thinking of very little else? Im obsessed and its very annoying. Read so much on google too

Cat249 · 30/01/2019 18:08

@orangedaisy thank you! do you remember having any feelings that you might be pregnant or that af wasn't coming? I just don't feel like I normally do when awaiting the witches arrival

OP posts:
Orangedaisy · 30/01/2019 18:11

I didn’t have any symptoms but af had never been more than 1 day late before. I did my utmost not to symptom spot or test again as I had been crushingly disappointed the one time it had been late and I didn’t want to get my hopes up.

Cat249 · 30/01/2019 18:16

@manycatsandallthegin I will definitely keep updating here. Fingers crossed it's good news for the pair of us and whoever else that joins in Smile

I was a lot worse a couple of months back, struggling to not poas at 6dpo and googling everything. But the last 2 days, I've been a nightmare! Google is my best friend right now. Even looking at reviews of the tests I've got just in case mine might be faulty. They don't get great reviews but I've got a spare that's a different brand just in case lol

OP posts:
Cat249 · 30/01/2019 18:23

@orangedaisy that feeling is the worst! I'm also never more than a day late apart from onxe and that's how me and my OH decided to try. I ended up being a week late, whilst on the pill which never happened, I was always clockwork. When af finally arrived we both realised how disappointed we were and how excited we'd become. Since then, no abnormalities. I'm starting to miss the agonisingly sore boobs I get a week before af because at least I know what's coming! Never thought I'd say that!

@Manycatsandallthegin I conceived at the end of October and got my bfp on the 20th of November. I started feeling pregnant about a week after getting my bfp :)

@Cat249 this is my second 😊 I have a dd who turns 1 next week!
Yeh, I'm going to find out the sex! Don't understand how people have the patience to wait til the birth lol xx

Cat249 · 30/01/2019 18:32

@mrsmummy90 I don't understand it either! I've always known that I would find out. I'm impatient and I like to be prepared lol. My mum never found out with all 3 of hers and finds it weird that I want to know.
Thats lovely that they'll be close in age, hopefully they'll have a strong bond with each other! Although I can imagine it's exhausting work looking after her whilst also being pregnant

OP posts:
Mrsmummy90 · 30/01/2019 19:08

Oh my gosh I definitely could not have 3 surprises!! I like to plan lol. As soon as we found out we were having dd, we bought so many cute little things for her. I swore I wouldn't have a 'pink' girl but I got sick of people asking "what's his name?" 😂 she now lives in girly stuff lol.

It can be tiring but tbh this pregnancy as been pretty easy so far. It's quite a relief as pregnancy with dd was horrific. It was genuinely so bad that I was considering finding a surrogate for baby 2 but ended up pregnant anyway xx

Cat249 · 30/01/2019 19:55

@mrsmummy90 I still think she was mad lol.
I'm the same, I don't want a 'pink' girl. The odd thing maybe, but hoping to add femininity with other colours and patterns. I don't know why, I just hate the colour!

Sounds like it must have been terrible! Perhaps this pregnancy is different because you're expecting a DS?? Who knows Smile

OP posts:
Mrsmummy90 · 30/01/2019 23:36

I've never really liked the colour pink but it looks so cute on dd 😂 my favourite thing to dress her in atm are little pinafore dresses. Super girly and they don't need to be pink!

I've been wondering whether I'm having a DS as well! Only time will tell 😊

Are you particularly hoping for one or the other? Xx

Ozziewozzie · 30/01/2019 23:41

Oh yes. Lots of bfn followed by a late bfp. Still hope for you. Use a pink test, do much better than the blues in my opinion.

mum22soon23 · 31/01/2019 07:36

Have you tested again ??? X

Cat249 · 31/01/2019 10:08

@mrsmummy90 I love pinafore dresses! They look so adorable.
In an ideal world I'd like 1 of each but in my head/heart I think I'd like a boy first. Part of the reason also being because I haven't found any girls names that I love. There's a few I like, but not 100%.

@ozziewozzie yeah I've heard the blue dye tests are notorious for evaps. I'm currently using ovaview tests, are cheap on Amazon and pink dye but they have mixed reviews. How many dpo were you when you found out?

@mum22soon23 no I haven't yet. I woke up in a daze this morning and by the time I'd remembered I was going too, I'd already finished. Guess I'm starting the 4hr hold, if I can manage that long lol. I'm so scared to get another bfn

OP posts:
Mrsmummy90 · 31/01/2019 10:25

I know exactly what you mean! With dd, I kept saying I didn't mind either way but secretly was hoping for a girl as I couldn't think of a boys name and had my heart set on a girls name.
I was convinced she was a boy in the end so when they told me I was having a girl, I was in shock lol.
This time DH gets to pick the name because I picked DD's. I'm so scared it's going to be something stupid like Grognak 😂
