Vasectomy. Week late.

My exH had a vasectomy 4 years ago. At the same time as we broke up.

We have decided 2 months ago to give it another go (after sexual health testing although he only slept with someone once with protection and I had a partner who tested clean before we slept together) we started having sex again.

My period is usually due on the 11th.

Still no sign.

Would you be worried or am I being paranoid?

I would take a test. ASAP.

IWannaSeeHowItEnds · 18/01/2019 20:48

Did he have the post op checks to ensure the vasectomy was successful?

ItsameAmario · 18/01/2019 21:04

He says he had the test and it said it was successful but I don't remember him ever having it.

Only way to be sure is to get a of test. I once missed a period for no reason and it does worry you. My DH had had a vasectomy and all the tests and I still panicked a bit. A test will make you feel better.

ItsameAmario · 18/01/2019 21:52

I'm assuming it's a blip but it's enough to make me panic a little!

I will get a test Monday.

1/2000 failure rate for vasectomy - that's IF he did the post-op testing properly.
Anything is possible.

ItsameAmario · 19/01/2019 09:20

Seems unlikely odds then. I'm sure I'll be ok

Still no period Confused

I don't want to waste my money on a test though as it feels imminent. Though it has for about a week

It's the only way you will know for sure, other than a blood test but it's likely they will do a urine test too.

wannabebump · 21/01/2019 13:31

@ItsameAmario a cheapy test will do the trick, no need to spend a fortune. The only way to know is to test

ItsameAmario · 21/01/2019 18:06

I'll get one tomorrow after school

Newyearsameoldshit · 21/01/2019 20:22

Get thee to Poundland, at a week late you should get a clear result on the cheapest of tests.

ChikiTIKI · 21/01/2019 20:41

Best to take a test just to be sure.

ItsameAmario · 22/01/2019 16:08

Negative test.

No period though.

OP posts:
ChikiTIKI · 22/01/2019 16:54

Are you relieved?
Must be annoying not to have a definitive answer about the late period though.... Are you stressed? That has caused mine to be quite late before.

ItsameAmario · 23/01/2019 23:06

I was relieved. But still nothing.

It was a £1 test done mid afternoon but at almost 2 weeks late it would show right?

OP posts:
ChikiTIKI · 24/01/2019 07:22

@ItsameAmario yes I would expect so usually.
A friend of mine didn't get a positive test until she was 12 weeks though.

Might be worth doing a morning test if AF doesn't show up soon?

ItsameAmario · 25/01/2019 12:05

Still nothing. Getting annoyed now.

Had really sore nipples last night too.

Make an appointment with your GP, just in case. It will be worth it if only to put your mind at rest.

endofthelinefinally · 25/01/2019 14:05

Your partner should have documented post vasectomy test results. He will have copies as will his gp. He could easily produce them.
Also you should do an early morning pregnancy test.

workinprogressmum · 25/01/2019 17:18

Try taking a test in the morning / going to the GP for a blood test? There may be something else going on

MsSuperExcited · 26/01/2019 09:31

Your DP is also supposed to take annual sperm tests, not just post-op. Things can re-connect themselves apparently

ItsameAmario · 26/01/2019 23:25

Still no period Hmm

Just want it to show up. Its so annoying.

You’re over two weeks late now?

I’d go and see a doctor if I were you

newcupcake · 27/01/2019 07:37

Buy a decent test
