Has anyone experienced this? My boobs feel so sore but can't take a test until Sunday according to my O dates. Am I just imagining it/going mad???

Yes I did

MaryH90 · 22/12/2018 10:11

I had insanely sore boobs for days before getting my BFP. I thought they were just a symptom of PMS at the time x

duckeggbluenotblue · 22/12/2018 10:14

Interesting... I think I'm about 8dpo. Would you chance a test tomorrow or hang on a little longer? AF due around 27th but possibly earlier. I'm hoping the craziness of Xmas will distract me from the disappointment of a BFN. 😟

Yep, I woke up at 5am because it felt like my boobs were on fire. A few days later my period was due and it didn't come!

duckeggbluenotblue · 22/12/2018 10:22

Just feel sore, not awful but definitely not normal 🤞🏻

I had the most blinding hormonal headache. I just knew, not sure how, but just felt different. Waited a few more days to test and sure enough, pregnant! I also had a glass of wine on my birthday and it tasted rank (usually love it) so kind of had an inkling!

Yes, it absolutely is possible to get pregnancy symptoms before a positive test. I had strong symptoms from around 7dpo, (stupidly) began taking tests every morning, and only got a positive on 13dpo.

A word of caution though: most early pregnancy symptoms can be very similar to pre menstrual symptoms: cramps, bloating, tender boobs, and so on. It helps to know your cycle well and be familiar with the symptoms you usually get.
I never get any pre menstrual symptoms, so in my case I had a good idea I was pregnant.

I got a BFP at 9dpo so I'd try tomorrow if I was you.

I had crazy cravings for jalapeños when on holiday in Ibiza - the whole week (12-19 sept). I got my bfp when I got back on 22nd and was only just over 4 weeks pregnant at that point ☺️

MaverickSnoopy · 22/12/2018 10:33

I did with my third. We weren't TTC and were using contraception so wasn't symptom spotting and it never crossed my mind. I knew when I ovulated as I reliably get ovulation pains. At 5dpo I started feeling violently sick, sore boobs, light headed, back cramps and I had (most telling sign) sciatica. All of which I had in the early stages of my first two pregnancies. I took a test on 7dpo due to these symptoms and it was negative. I took one the next day and it was positive. Baby is now a couple of months old.

I know people say it's not possible and it's just symptom spotting, but I had no reason to think that I was pregnant apart from the symptoms which were identical to previous pregnancies.

duckeggbluenotblue · 22/12/2018 10:37

Ooh ok, well you never know then?!? I thought most replies would say definitely not! I felt very sick yesterday and still have feeling of nausea today, but yes convinced myself last month I was pregnant too!! 🤦🏻‍♀

I tested a full week before my period was due in my last pregnancy, in the middle of the day because I 'felt' pregnant despite having had a negative test with FMU (I spent a FORTUNE on pregnancy tests back in the day).

A first response test was faintly positive. A regular test properly positive later the same day (I was an avid POAS-er!)

The resulting twins are now 8!

duckeggbluenotblue · 22/12/2018 12:22

Wow!! @transposersareposers do you think that's because of the twins you tested positive so early??

And this sounds really strange but feels like I'm producing so much saliva??? As in keep having to spit it out!??

Sore and heavy boobs were my first sign with both of my pregnancies. I got my bfp at 9dpo this time although that is pretty early to test.

Good luck xxx

Disfordarkchocolate · 22/12/2018 13:09

Yup, morning sickness (all day actually) started 4 days before my period was due (stopped a week after I had the baby).

CountessVonBoobs · 22/12/2018 13:10

They won't really be "pregnancy" symptoms if you can't get a positive yet, because the HCG in your body will be minimal. They'll be "high progesterone" symptoms, which can also happen premestrually or for other reasons. So yes, people can experience things which turned out to be from a progesterone rise caused by pregnancy, but they can also experience the same things from a progesterone rise caused by not-pregnancy.

JassyRadlett · 22/12/2018 13:14

My hyperemesis started at 3.5 weeks pregnant.

Stopped when I gave birth....

Puffinhead · 22/12/2018 13:15

Yes, I did. Had a weird metallic taste in my mouth.

CrookedMe · 22/12/2018 13:25

I threw up while buying a tumble dryer, that's why I did a test Grin

flameycakes · 22/12/2018 13:30

I had a few months of thinking I had some sort of bug, my periods where irregular and boobs ached in cold weather anyway, was a good shock when I realised xxxx

AllYeFaithful · 22/12/2018 13:38

Yes, with my second child I had the excess saliva thing for about a week before my period was due. Three days before I tested I was violently sick one morning. I got the strongest BFP on the day my period was due.

duckeggbluenotblue · 22/12/2018 13:42

@allyefaithful, ooh that's interesting to know. The sore boobs and sickness I could possibly be imagining, you know as in talking myself into it but the saliva thing I'm definitely not imagining. Very strange. Will have to wait and see..

I had symptoms for at least a week before I got a positive test, and I got any positive several days before my period was due. First symptom was my cigarettes tasting completely different, it was awful (although it made it really easy to quit smoking!!). The other thing that was different to my normal premenstrual symptoms was suddenly being able to feel my nipples. I had never been able to feel any sensation in them before then.

The person who knows your body best is you, no harm in getting an early response test...

ChipsAreLife · 22/12/2018 14:07

Yes. I normally have an awful sense of smell. All of a sudden I could smell things really well out of the blue. It was my first symptom!

Good luck!
