Crushing disappointment of TTC

TheChineseChicken · 22/12/2018 08:31

TTC number 2 and struggling with the miserable disappointment every month. DD took quite a long time to conceive. Tried for a year, fell pregnant then miscarried at 9 weeks then pregnant again 3 months later. Been trying for number 2 since August and stupidly convinced myself it would be quicker this time due to friends' experiences. But here we are on cycle 5. The not knowing is the worst bit - it could happen this month, it might never happen.

I know that no-one can give me any reassurances but I just wanted to have a moan!

I fished this morning's test out of the bin for some inexplicable reason and saw a faint second line, which is clearly an evaporation line. Just did another test to confirm and it's negative Sad

@codenameduchess thank you but it's okay, I think I'm getting used to the dissappointment now...had a huge temp drop this morning and I'm feeling AF on the way...oh well here's to another cycle!

Does anyone have any suggestions for things to try? I'm gonna start taking evening primrose oil from AF to OV this cycle, it's meant to help improve and increase your cervical mucus.

codenameduchess · 14/02/2019 10:55

@pinkstar01 that's interesting, I've never used evening primrose oil but have heard it recommended.
I'm taking magnesium, vit d and calcium (or iron maybe) to try to boost the metformin and pre conception multi vitamins. Have my first acupuncture session first week of March- very highly reviewed lady who does a lot of fertility treatments and will be seeing my gp to discuss next steps and decide if I'll up the metformin, switch medication or need a referral to a specialist. I'm also upping yoga- don't think there's any fertility benefits but exercise can only help weight loss and the stress release is fab!

Me and dh took today off to do something together... I forgot it was valentines so panic bought a gift at 7 this morning 😂😂 and dh is ill so it's turned into a chill day.
Anyone have something special planned today?

pinkstar01 · 14/02/2019 18:53

Nope no special plans, were both home might have dinner and watch some Netflix that's about it!

So AF hasn't shown up yet which is okay because today is CD26 and my cycle can go till 27/28 sometimes but the last few cycles have been 26. But since last night I've been having cramping and this morning it was quite bad so I was sure AF was coming at any moment...nothing yet. Wish it would hurry up and put me out of my misery!

TheChineseChicken · 15/02/2019 07:41

Pinkstar any updates?

Nothing special for V day yesterday other than a nice dinner and a card. I'm in limbo at the moment - if I ovulated at the normal time I should be around 6dpo so no testing for a while. Had quite a bit of CM but I think we've all come to the conclusion that doesn't mean anything!

Thank god it's Friday!

Hi, first time on this thread...the title is us all over! TTC number 2. Number conceived first time we tried (what a dream!) we started TTC 2 just over a year ago, one miscarriage at 12 weeks later and we’re no further forward.
@codenameduchess Hi, I am reading a book a fertility book at the moment and the author recommends taking cough syrup with guaifenesin in which is designed to loosed mucus on your chest but does the same with CM therefore making it a bit more fertile..apparently. Ah, the things we do... xxx Good luck to everyone xxx

Otter88 · 15/02/2019 10:46

Hi All

We don't do Valentine's day lol! It's mutual haha. I'm just glad to have gotten myself in a better place after having a meltdown in Wednesday. It was totally unexpected. Previous months I have been really disappointed but manager to move on quite quickly and this month just seemed to take its toll.

@pinkstar01 I know what you mean, once you know it's not pregnancy, you just want the damn thing to come!

@TheChineseChicken keeping everything crossed for you. I'm definitely gonna try so hard this cycle not to symptom spot or think anything of anything. You can literally have no symptoms at all or have all the symptoms that are the same as AF coming and different symptoms every month. It's bloody torture but if we can do it I think it might make the blow if AF comes easier to deal with. Who knows!

pinkstar01 · 15/02/2019 10:53

AF still a no show but a few times I thought for sure it was here and I ran to check but it was creamy CM. I've been having very obvious cramping since yesterday morning which I never get unless AF has already arrived, never this far in advance. Not sure what's going on

pinkstar01 · 15/02/2019 11:02

Also...I've been temping using an ear thermometer and apparently those aren't recommended, so now I can't really rely on my temp readings either. I'm gonna order o proper bbt one from amazon as soon as AF shows!

TheChineseChicken · 15/02/2019 13:13

Welcome Lou I'm sorry you've had to join us and for your loss. This is a thread for support and commiseration so feel free to moan as necessary.

Otter glad to hear you're feeling a bit cheerier. Some months are definitely worse than others. I find it helps when AF coincides with a social engagement when I can console myself with the fact that I can drink wine!

Pinkstar I desperately hope this is your cycle.

Can I join? Been ttc for over a year now and not even a glimmer of hope. AF arrived 5 days late so was hopeful but that crashed this morning... gutted doesn't even come close to how I feel

pinkstar01 · 15/02/2019 14:50

@MrsV2018 so sorry to hear that, we've all been there :( hope you're feeling better now? Have you been to the GP yet? xx

MummyBearBoo · 15/02/2019 14:53

@MrsV2018 -did you test when you were late coz my last period was 5 days late and I got a BFP after first day but I lost it two days later but at least if you get a CP you know it can happen!! Xx

MrsV2018 · 15/02/2019 14:57

Hi @pinkstar01 I went to the gp last year and got my bloods done. Went back to the gp and she just said everything is normal and to just keep trying. I know I should go back but just feel like they think I'm wasting their time, it's so frustrating

MrsV2018 · 15/02/2019 14:58

@MummyBearBoo I've been testing since I've been due every day and they have all come back negative. Just feels like it's never going to happen

TheChineseChicken · 15/02/2019 16:17

Welcome MrsV! Sorry this is a tough time for you. It's good that your tests have been clear so hopefully it's just a matter of timing for you.

I'm confused by my CM. Lots more than normal but it's not EW so I don't think it's late ovulation, plus I've been doing OPK sticks every evening and there's barely a trace of a 2nd line so nowhere near a surge. Probably just hormones up the creek due to the CP. I can't possibly test yet - 6dpo would be a new low Grin

Pinkstar will you test again in the morning?

OP posts:
pinkstar01 · 15/02/2019 16:23

@TheChineseChicken I wasn't planning to but the last few times I've checked I've had yellowish cm with a tiniest hint of brown in it, the first time I thought okay that's it AF is here but a few hours later (and lots of cramping) I checked again and yellow CM with the tiniest tinge of brown. I never get that, my AF arrives looking pink, never brown. I've just asked DH to pick up a test on the way home...I don't want to get my hopes up though :( but I can't stress how not normal this is for me

TheChineseChicken · 15/02/2019 16:28

It's so hard not to get hopes up x

pinkstar01 · 15/02/2019 16:53

Nvm looks like it's here! Atleast now i can move on!

TheChineseChicken · 15/02/2019 17:20

Bugger!

dottyp0104 · 15/02/2019 17:29

Hi ladies, hope your well. AF due today assuming normal cycle length after MC this month, but nothing. Am I being unrealistic to think my cycle would continue as usual after early MC (about 6 weeks)?? Bfn yesterday.

LouH1981 · 15/02/2019 18:08

@TheChineseChicken - thank you so much for your kind words. I really appreciate the support xx

@dottyp0104 I am so so sorry to hear about your loss. I hope you are being kind to yourself and doing ok xxx I can only speak swim experience of a mc at 12 weeks, I bled for 2 weeks and continued to have hcg in my urine for about the same. Then cycle started again (using opk’s to test for surge) so around 6 weeks in all. Just make sure you feel ready. I thought I did but the first time trying was quite emotional xx

dottyp0104 · 15/02/2019 18:36

Thanks Lou. It was my second, was devastated but accepted what would be would be. I only bled lightly for 3 days, not the classic MC and have had negative tests for last 2 weeks (i just wanted to be sure there was no confusion). Will keep fingers crossed that AF stays away, just frustrating to know when it was actually due so speak. I had tried ovulation tests but I was rubbish at reading so have been tracking on my app instead. Gutted as I am surrounded by new babies and my friend just told me she is early pregnant and her dates were similar to mine 🙄

MummyBearBoo · 15/02/2019 19:25

Sorry to hear about your loss @dottyp0104 -it's really hard, I know, everyone in my NCT group and friends so 15 couples in total all got pregnant with their second after me (including my SIL who was due the day after me) and they all now have healthy babies (I am happy their babies are healthy) whereas I had to have a TFMR at 12 weeks! Xx

MummyBearBoo · 15/02/2019 19:31

@TheChineseChicken -fingers crossed for you hun -
I'm hoping my cycle doesn't go crazy after my CP it was hard enough trying to work out when ovulation was due anyway before -my AF is heavier than normal after my CP and I'm just waiting for it to finish - it did start 5 days late so it could be another day or two then hopefully it will stop! Xx
