@FlapJackered I get the flu jab for work anyway so I had mine in october!
@GemmaJen yes had a lovely Christmas. Still away visiting various family until next Wednesday... very long! But when I get home, I will only have 3 days of TWW left!
@MrsEG awwww that must make it even more real!! ❤️

MrsEG · 27/12/2018 09:58

@Shellybellytots Definitely okay before ov, only not okay once you’re pregnant :) Enjoy!

@Scotslass55 aw love, I'm sorry to hear that. I cannot imagine the pain of losing a parent, even more so around Christmas. Lots of love to you. Hope you and DH can make up soon
@Shellybellytots If I don't get BFP this month I will be doing that for January. I have an exam at the end of January so need to try and plan some fun small things to distract me from all the extra work I'm doing! I would still do it because otherwise you could spend your whole life avoiding the things you can't enjoy when pregnant! Hence why I've been drinking over Christmas and O because I would be annoyed if I got a BFN and had been teetotal the whole time! (I don't drink alcohol except for my birthday and Christmas!)

EssJayyCee · 27/12/2018 10:08

@GemmaJen my cycles are all over the place. I had a 64 day cycle before this one!
I have cysts on one of my ovaries which is causing the irregular periods but the doctor said it shouldn't cause any issues with getting pregnant. It just may take a little longer.

GemmaJen · 27/12/2018 10:21

@MrsEG congratulations on you digital BFP. So exciting Grin

Back at work today but we've DTD 4 days in a row... Don't think I can manage day 5! Luckily our house has thick walls, lol. Just want to see that temp rise now to be sure it has happened.

Shellybellytots · 27/12/2018 10:23

Thanks @mrsEg no hot tubs for you though !! :P

@thosethreewords I know I didn't drink at all last month (not that I do really!) I should have at the crimbo parties etc. I have had a few glasses of port and wine over Christmas seeing as AF is here and it was quite nice chilled me out a bit as waiting for AF got me a bit tense. NY and my Bday I am going to have a couple of glasses hehe!

But then water and lemon for my Nirvana Spa week :) yipee

GemmaJen · 27/12/2018 10:24

@thosethreewords glad to hear it's been a successful Christmas. FX for a positive test next week. I'm sure the time will fly by.

@EssJayyCee That doesn't sound easy, good that the docs don't seem too concerned though.

Scotslass55 · 27/12/2018 10:47

@thosethreewords thank you. I’m sure it’ll all be fine soon. Just feeling a bit sorry for myself this morning. Family all gone and DH off to work still angry. This was meant to be my lovely day to relax but not quite feeling that vibe!

KatBeCool · 27/12/2018 11:23

@FlapJackered got the flu jab in October. And yes we dtd on Christmas day! And the day after!

@Scotslass55 so sorry for rubbish Christmas, families can be hard on you even during the best holidays. Maybe talk to your DH, after all, whatever happened doesn't mean you two stopped being a couple who wants children and it's silly to miss the important days if you're ovulating.

@Shellybellytots hot tubs are fine for you but not your dh (he shouldn't during ttc at all).

@GemmaJen I'm with you, there's no way I'd be able to do five days in a row. Even four is too much. The pressure from it being baby making is ruining the mood.

Scotslass55 · 27/12/2018 11:25

Thanks @KatBeCool - hopefully when he comes home from work things will be a bit better.

Bettythecat · 27/12/2018 12:07

Hi ladies- I used to be on the old threads but rejoining here.

I am 30, end of cycle 4, warning for af to arrive.

My app predicted my period to arrive on Christmas Day so I did an early test on the 21st- was a BFN. No period Christmas Day or Boxing Day so used a normal FRRR yesterday- another BFN. Got an early detection to use tomorrow morning if af doesn’t arrive as seems the app must have predicted my ovulation wrong otherwise I would have had a BFP by now if I actually was Preggo. All v weird and frustrating as don’t really know where I stand with it.

Xx

Bettythecat · 27/12/2018 12:53

@KittieKath @MrsEG just been catching up on the messages here and seen that you both sent me lovely messages of support from my sad last message on thread 9. Sorry I didn’t respond I didn’t know anyone would have read it. Thank you both so much. I’m feeling a bit more relaxed now- the day of the BFN is always grim for me- need to make sure I am at home next time I do it for the first time in the cycle.. xx

Random2468 · 27/12/2018 14:55

This might be a really stupid questions (apologies) but I read that even if you have sex bang at the right time with respect to ovulation your chance of conception is still only 30%. If you have sex multiple times leading up to and around ovulation does this chance increase??

Blueflower22 · 27/12/2018 15:21

@Random2468 hey, yeah I'm wondering about that as well?!

thosethreewords · 27/12/2018 15:30

I imagine the more times you DTD in the FW the more likely you are to conceive but only upto a point as we know that sperm quality deteriorates with frequent ejaculation. I don't know what the figures would be though!

Babytrain89 · 27/12/2018 15:51

@Random2468 @thosethreewords The NHS recommends every other day throughout your cycle....Maybe more than that reduces the sperm quality?

GemmaJen · 27/12/2018 16:10

@Babytrain89 following the smep plan, you DTD everyday for 3 days after positive opk. I think some studies show reduced sperm number and motility if you DTD everyday for too long. But the difference is marginal unless there's already an underlying issue.

Babytrain89 · 27/12/2018 16:43

As I say...that's just the NHS advice on their web page. Sure there are lots of different plans. I'm not using any OPKs or anything yet, no doubt I have lots to learn just sharing what I knew. :)

thosethreewords · 27/12/2018 17:06

@Babytrain89 yep you are right. The NHS/ GPs actually don't encourage using fertility monitoring/ OPKs and temping because it isn't meant to increase chances of conception and adds stress... doesn't stop me though 😂

KatBeCool · 27/12/2018 17:17

@thosethreewordsmy my gp said that as long as opks work for me, I can use them. They don't work for everyone which is why they don't encourage using them. I wouldn't rely ONLY on opks though. This is mainly because if you get a positive you stop testing, but you may not ovulate and would get another positive later in your cycle but you wouldn't know since you weren't testing and miss it. Temping in conjunction with opks is more reliable, especially if you don't feel when you ovulate.

SunnyL88 · 27/12/2018 17:30

Hi all just lurking and second time posting.
Dtd during ovulation and waiting for af to arrive 1.1.19 - been having various symptoms, cm, left pelvic cramps, nausea, horrendous migraines and headaches and dizziness. Really hoping for a bfp as this is our 7th cycle.

KatBeCool · 27/12/2018 17:55

So I just read an interesting piece... Some scientists believe that if one fallopian tube is blocked, the other one can "travel" or stretch to the other side to grab the egg. I don't know how much truth is behind that but maybe it does happen. @ValidUser you might find that encouraging.

thosethreewords · 27/12/2018 18:49

@KatBeCool there's no reason you can't use them of course, but what I mean is a GP isn't going to recommend you use them, since the majority of couples (if the woman is under 40) will conceive within a year if regular cycles - it's around 80% I think. And that's by having sex every 2-3 days.
I just prefer to know what my cycles are doing and get to know my body by charting!

DuchessofPemberley · 27/12/2018 20:16

I have to say I am finding temping great. Sometimes I catch ovulation on OPKs, sometimes I don’t (I won’t go on another Clearblue rant, I promise! Grin ). This month I didn’t catch it in the OPK but because I was temping and recording it on the Fertility Friend app it confirmed I ovulated.

I like recording because it makes me feel more in control - it’s not for everyone though, and can add to the stress.

Scotslass55 · 27/12/2018 20:23

Could some kind person remind me what the signs of ovulation are if I’m not temping/ charting/ using OPKs? Just doing the BD!
