KahFen....I could be wrong but I think I recently read that sperm need 12 hours 'inside' after release to mature enough to be capable of fertilising an egg. So they might arrive in 45 minutes but they won't be up to the job for another half day. I think this info is positive for you? Anyone want to correct me if I'm wrong??

In terms of ubiquinol I took none before my MMC- I kicked myself- and since April I've been on 200 or 300. I buy from Amazon. The Health Thru Nutrition brand in a white/ green tub. It always seems to be the best balance of good reviews and decent price. When I conceived my DC I was 41 and had been taking some basic Q10 and that worked for me clearly at the time. I'm 2 years older now and willing to invest in the pricy stuff.

Presh- don't make assumptions yet! Good luck!

So many people here taking the medical route. It kind of scares me as I just want this to happen naturally.

Floofsquidge · 29/11/2018 19:24

@KahFen sperm can survive in the body for 5 days.

Kintan · 29/11/2018 19:53

I’m taking 400mg if the CoQ10. I get them from Amazon.
Sorry about your chemical snowie that really sucks.
KahFen both times I’ve been pregnant it has been from DTD two days before ovulation. Not on purpose, but that’s just the way things worked out those cycles. I think if you are going for it every other day from day 8 to until your period is due then there should always be sperm ready and waiting for when you ovulate.
Hope everyone has had a good day, nearly the weekend, phew! x

Chatbash72 · 29/11/2018 21:37

I took 100 ubiquinol for 2 months but then wasn't able to get from the place I wanted and just wasn't sure which brand to get off amazon. Holland & B had am offer on CoQ10 last month so were taking 240 ( 120x2 per day) but this month on 200 per day, pre conception vits, omega 3,6,9 and orange vit spray from H&B on offer..
good luck to everyone and yes I also heard that the speed need to go through a process after ejaculation before egg meeting x

littlemimosa · 29/11/2018 22:47

Snowie - so sorry to hear about your chemical:( hope you’re ok.

I’ve just ordered Solgar 200 ubiquinol from eBay. A much better price than Amazon but still so expensive!

Hope everyone is ok tonight. Nothing to report here. I’m about 10/11dpo and my only symptom is a slightly rapid heartbeat. It’s quite normal for me tho in the luteal phase. Apparently it’s the progesterone? Anyone else notice this?

I know that the sperm can live up to 5 or 6 days inside the tubes but I’ve honestly no idea about time taken to swim up there.... my gcse biology didn’t cover that😆

Orchid222 · 29/11/2018 23:11

Petra- I was the same as you and wanted it to happen naturally. Gave it 1,5yrs and frankly the thought of it never happening and my ds being an only child scared me more than going the medical route so here I am.
My down-reg scan done, looking ok, 8 follicles in total so let's see how they react and how many eggs we get.

Orchid222 · 29/11/2018 23:14

Presh- my good friend had 3 follicles at 30! But if one is progressing well that might be all you need? Remember the quality is more important than quantity. What's your doc saying? When's your next IUI? Fingers crossed for us all x

Hi ladies, I’m a first timer on these chats. Who else would understand the motions? Grin. Age 44 and just over 6wks now. After several very faint home pregnancy strip tests, and a negative at the GP, AF didnt show after 42 days so dr ran a blood test that showed up positive (My cycle is usually 26-31days). I’m a little stunned to say the least as I was mentally preparing myself for early stages of menopause given my irregular period last couple of years.. but this time round my usual premenstrual symptoms felt different. I knew. I think a woman just knows. My instinct was whispering ‘you’re pregnant’. My partner is in denial and thinks it’s all in my head.. I haven’t told him about the blood test yet. He’s away at work and I prefer a face to face on that one.
So what’s the likelyhood of this going all the way and what should I be concerned about? I’m getting a little shooting pain on the left side... trying not to think the worst after reading tons of threads and stuff on the web.

Orchid222 · 30/11/2018 07:05

Congratulations Cozy! As you can tell from the title of this thread we're all trying to conceive so not sure if we're the right crowd to ask about your chances. Many of us have suffered losses and some of them were probably caused by poor egg quality due to our age. And it is a well known fact the risks of something going wrong are higher.
That being said, we have had a lady here a few months ago who conceived at 43 and is probably nearing her due date soon, I know someone who's had a baby at 43 and my grandmother conceived her last at 44 so it's definitely possible and many women out there go on to have healthy pregnancies and babies.
There's not much you can do at this stage but wait so I'd just relax, take some good pregnancy vitamins and hope for the best really. If you'd like you can ask your gp to refer you to your local epu (early pregnancy unit) for a scan to see if things are going according to plan (by 7 weeks you should be able to hear the heartbeat) rather than wait until the 12 week scan but that's about all you can do at the moment.

Oh one more thing: stop reading the internet :) the stuff out there can surely drive you crazy and worry you needlessly while you should be stating calm. I know it's hard believe me I've been there but if you can help it don't look at the web.

Cleozeta · 30/11/2018 09:33

Congrats cozy! As for chances of things progressing, it could go either way. The chances of things going wrong in our age group is much higher than those younger unfortunately, but as Orchid said, just try to relax and don't read the internet too much, what will be will be. Good luck

hmmm123 · 30/11/2018 11:05

So I've just had my day 21 ( actually went on day 20 as 21 was Sunday) results which dr said was in normal range. They were 33.4. Don't know if that is low. I'm sure I've seen people on here with higher but I felt a bit stupid asking any more questions of the dr after she said it was normal. Can anyone cast any light? So I at least am ovulating but because periods are all over the place it's difficult to tell when!

Cleozeta · 30/11/2018 14:24

They say any above 30 is normal and ovulatory. Although mine came back at 28.4 and gp still classed it as 'normal', although from reading up on it I know its slightly low, but like you I didn't want to feel like a numpty asking more questions when they state it's 'normal'

Have you had your fsh/lh done too?

Cleozeta · 30/11/2018 14:26

How is your lp? That's often a good gage on progesterone. Mine is 11 days

PetraRabbit · 30/11/2018 16:08

Snowy- sorry not to send my thoughts to you in my previous message. That must feel horrible having a chemical.

Cozy. You are the kind of story we all like to hear. Maybe get a scan at 7 weeks. They only cost around over £100. In honesty I had a missed miscarriage where the baby died at 9 weeks and a couple of days so it doesn't mean you're out of the woods but miscarriage is common around 6 or 7 weeks so if you see a heartbeat at 7 weeks you can feel at least reassured there is a promising babe in there. I have a really good feeling for you! Is this your first? Or if not, what kind of gap? What were you doing to conceive (apart from the obvious!) Congratulations! So far, so good! You are pregnant and we all want to be in your position! Try not to worry.

Cozy2018 · 30/11/2018 16:27

Hi ladies
Thanks for your responses. Had a dr apt today and was sent for scans due to some slight shooting pain on one side. The scan couldn’t find a gestation sack but some thing showing on my ovary where I have pain. Technician said it could be where the egg was released. But as my hcg is low for 6 weeks I’ve either ovulated much much later than I thought (I’m guessing that this would have been an over 30 day cycle), or the worst case is ectopic. I’m told I need regular blood tests to see how my hcg is going up. If normal then I ovulated late. If low then it could be ectopic.
Only time will tell at this stage.
But wishing everyone peace of mind & success in their attempts to concieve. Xx

And apologies for coming to wrong thread Orchid. I’m not very good with these things. I saw ‘over 40’ and skim read thought to share & learn. Xx

Orchid222 · 30/11/2018 17:10

Cosy, please don't apologise! I only said it to let you know that we might not be the best crowd to tell you the chances but we all love a happy over 40 pregnancy story. I hope yours does have a happy ending, fingers crossed for you!

OP posts:
Kintan · 30/11/2018 17:32

@Cozy2018 I’m keeping everything crossed for you!

Cleozeta · 30/11/2018 17:44

Cozy - fingers crossed all ok. Please keep us updated!

ckc45d10 · 30/11/2018 18:45

For those asking about forms of CoQ10, a form that is water and fat-soluble absorbs better!
Congrats, and good luck!

Rose68 · 30/11/2018 20:23

Hmmm I can’t remember what my progesterone was, will check it out when I get home from Bonnie Scotland, unless I can find it on our previous thread x

Presh12345 · 01/12/2018 07:01

@orchid so I had my follow up appt this morning. 3 follicles on left and 2 on the right which the previous doc didn't see. (My doc was on hols and I had to have a scan with another doc on thursday). He said he knows my right ovary hides and he knows where to look for it whereas someone else wouldn't necessarily know.
Anyway, 2 on left are around 14 and 15 and 2 on left are around 10-12. He has kept me on the Gonal for another day to try and get them a bit bigger. One has gone from 9 to 14 since Thursday. He is looking at trigger potentially Monday and iui Wednesday morning.

minime2017 · 01/12/2018 09:03

Just a quick check in. Mid cycle here. Much more relaxed. I have noticed a pattern on my fitbit for ovulation. I get a peak rhr for 2 days before it drops back. These day match the peaks on the CB opks Ive been using. So my non scientific research will hopefully save me peeing on £30 every month or 2 😁 just need to figure out timing dtd and stop bloody overthinking it all!

Helbelle75 · 01/12/2018 09:39

I have a lot to learn. We've just been dtd and hoping for the best. Fingers crossed that all is working for everyone.
It's been 4 months since the last miscarriage and month 2 of ttc, although DH was away over prime fertility time.
AF has arrived this morning, bang on time. Must try harder next month.

BooseysMom · 01/12/2018 11:33

@Helbelle75..sorry to hear AF srtuck this morn. Mine also arrived yesterday..3 days early.. like an express train!!. I have really bad cramp and even in the centre of my stomach as well as lower down. No kind of pain killers touch it. I'm in tears. It must surely be Peri. Mum had exactly the same each month towards the end. Dad remembers her being in bed every month with a hot water bottle. He said try brandy..just a small tot! This on top of a horrendous flu type bug and I'm feeling like I've been kicked in the stomach Sad

@Cozy2018...thanks for sharing your story with us. Hope everything works out for you x
