Too early to test?

Just that really, when is too early to take a pregnancy test?

I'm 8DPO and have started to get aches and pains in the bottom of my back and boobs. AF is due on Sunday and these aren't normally symptoms. My usual terrible skin hasn't arrived either

I'm driving myself mad waiting! This is exactly 1 year since we started TTC and I'm letting my imagination take over hoping we get a 1 year BFP surprise.

I had the most textbook month, positive OPKs (I never get them), temp rise at the right time, CM change, ovulation pain and DTD before, during and after.

Tell me I'm not the only one hating this two week wait?!

@LondonKez doing ok over here tested again this morning with an IC, and BFN again which I was expecting and felt ok about. Testing these past two days has definitely helped me relax a bit, I think it's the uncertainty which is the worst part for me at the moment, but still only on cycle 2 so that might change as things go on. I only have one FRER left and was thinking of using it tomorrow morning before I go ahead and treat myself to an end of the week glass of wine! I'll be around 10-12dpo tomorrow. AF is due Sat/Sun.

I've read some bits on here this evening about how crap the One Step IC are, and so wondering whether to even bother with them next cycle. I don't know about how good the One Step OPKs are either, but will probably give them another whirl.

How are you doing?? Have you managed to stay away from the tests?

ItsAFunnyOldWorld · 08/11/2018 20:24

Tested this morning @LondonKez and got a BFN, thought I'd be gutted but think I've got so used to only seeing one line it's not a shock any more, almost numb sometimes. Maybe month 13 won't be so unlucky for us.

Hoping to hear some good BFP news off you ladies!

miniscotchegg · 08/11/2018 20:38

@ItsAFunnyOldWorld really sorry to hear that sounds so hard doing this month after month. There is still time this month, and hope you have some nice weekend plans and things to do to keep distracted and look after yourself whilst the waiting continues

LondonKez · 08/11/2018 21:08

Sorry to hear about your BFNs @ItsAFunnyOldWorld @miniscotchegg. I haven't tested yet. 10dpo today. Had really strange symptoms but my temps have been low all cycle, so as much as I'd love to be hopeful I also know that I really shouldn't get ahead of myself, especially as I've obviously Googled all my symptoms religiously and they seem to be equally common as BFP and AF symtoms!

I've read a lot of bad reviews on the one step pg tests, but I use the OPKs and they seem pretty reliable.

ItsAFunnyOldWorld · 08/11/2018 22:09

Thank you @miniscotchegg @LondonKez I am starting to wonder if being a mum is in my plan, I honestly can't work out what I'm doing wrong.

I've got my dogs and the hubby (who I have just lost the plot at after he made a very badly timed comment, convincing myself he definitely deserved it!)

Absolute @LondonKez every symptom can be a BFP or AF, short of morning sickness they are frustratingly the same! I'm sure I sometimes invent symptoms in my crazy TTC head! Keeping everything crossed yours are pointing to a BFP!

LondonKez · 09/11/2018 08:04

Oh, @ItsAFunnyOldWorld I know exactly how you feel. I'm on cycle 11 trying for my first and I'm 32. I'd love to have more than one, so also aware that time is not necessarily on my side. No one ever really talks about how hard this process is. It appears that everyone gets their positive results so quickly, it's rare to hear the stories from people who have been trying for more than 9 months. I always have a little cry when AF arrives and take the dog out for a long walk. It helps me recharge ready to start all over again.

Stay strong though, you still have time! It will happen for us and we can be those happy ending stories that I obsessively search for in these threads. Sending you lots of positive energy and a virtual hug 💖

ItsAFunnyOldWorld · 09/11/2018 14:21

@ItsAFunnyOldWorld it's nice to know you aren't alone sometimes, you are right, nobody really talks about still trying month after month. I'm pleased for everyone who gets their BFP after a couple of months but sometimes it just feels so unfair. I know I shouldn't wish my life away but sometimes I wish AF would hurry up and gone so we can have another try and a new month.

Keeping everything crossed for you!

@LondonKez @ItsAFunnyOldWorld
sending lots of positive vibes and support for the end of the the TWW. How are you both doing? It definitely does feel like stories of people falling pregnant immediately are everywhere. It sounds like you're doing everything you can though and it's just one of those really crappy unfair things that life throws up. Hope you can be compassionate to yourselves and not beat yourselves up like it's your fault somehow that it's not happened already Keeping everything crossed it will happen for you both very soon

I'm just waiting on AF to start - due tomorrow and I woke up today with all the early warning signs that it's on the way so just a matter of time now until the merry go round to starts again! X

LondonKez · 10/11/2018 16:59

Thanks @miniscotchegg, AF also due tomorrow for me but everything is pointing towards an appearance today at some point. Good luck, I hope she stays away! Xx

ItsAFunnyOldWorld · 10/11/2018 18:21

Thanks @miniscotchegg same as you and @LondonKez AF is due tomorrow. Started to get the twinges of cramp so no doubt she'll appear tomorrow. Only positive is I haven't had my terrible week before breakout, every cloud eh!

Keeping everything crossed you'll both be posting your BFP soon. X

OP posts:
LondonKez · 11/11/2018 14:59

How Are you both getting on? I've been spotting since Thursday which is a first for me, but still no flow. I have had cramps since yesterday, so I'm just having to wait it out... hope to see some BFPs soon xx

ItsAFunnyOldWorld · 11/11/2018 15:21

@LondonKez AF arrived bang on time this morning. I seemed to have swapped the bad skin for terrible cramps this month. Think testing a few days ago convinced me this wasn't our month (again) so it wasn't too gutting today.

OP posts:
miniscotchegg · 11/11/2018 23:09

Sorry AF arrived @ItsAFunnyOldWorld how are you feeling today? Did you take a test yet @LondonKez ? Fingers crossed the cramps and spotting might be a good sign rather than AF!? Hope you have both done some nice things over the weekend that have taken your mind off all this somewhat anyway!

AF signs really ramped up for me today, but she's not arrived just yet. Id decided on Friday after the BFN that this month I might try doing OPKs from CD1 just to see what comes of that. Even though AF hasn't yet arrived, I did an OPK this evening and weirdly it was positive (or very near to) I've also had LOADS of EWCM today - quite a bit more than when I had my peak mid-cycle (when I thought I ovulated, had positive OPK then too). I did one of the One Step pregnancy tests, as I'd read somewhere about positive OPKs sometimes being a sign of pregnancy, and it was a total BFN. So all very strange!

dreamer26 · 11/11/2018 23:33

Can I join the gang. I'm 8DPO. Think I may have had an implantation bleed/ cramps but not sure if I'm just reading into things. This is my third cycle TTC.

Fingers crossed for us all!

ItsAFunnyOldWorld · 12/11/2018 08:28

@miniscotchegg keeping everything crossed for you. As much as AF isn't a welcome visitor at least know where you are up to, there is nothing worse than waiting and not knowing.

Good idea with the OPKs, I take my temp and log it with Natural Cycles everyday as well, I was a bit dubious at first but it's made such a difference knowing what's going on with my body, I notice so many more little changes than I used to.

Welcome on board @dreamer26 there's only a few of us on here but we're a friendly bunch!

OP posts:
LondonKez · 12/11/2018 08:51

@miniscotchegg do a frer! I've read that the One Step OPKs can detect a positive pregnancy, but the actual pregnancy tests take a while. Fingers crossed for you!!! Xxx

I've not tested. Although this bleed isn't anywhere near a normal flow for me (Still nothing on the pads) it is still blood, so I think it may just be a weird cycle unfortunately x

XxTaeexP · 12/11/2018 09:40

Welcome @dreamer26
Im 9 dpo and think I felt "implantation cramps" today..
But I'm trying not to read too much into it... Trying to find distractions but this month is taking a toll on me..

A few more days to go.. Fx😊

miniscotchegg · 12/11/2018 19:22

Welcome @dreamer26 wishing you lots of luck for this month.

I did a FRER just now @LondonKez and it was an absolute negative. Still no sign of AF and pretty much all pre-period signs have gone away today So I have no clue what is happening. I had a really stressful month last month and I'm wondering if it's messed up my cycle. Perhaps I didn't ovulate, as I had one OPK peak followed by another two days later, which I read can mean failed ovulation. Is it even possibly that 2 weeks later, the positive OPK and EWCM I got yesterday could be a really late ovulation? Although wouldn't explain why I had all the signs of AF building the last few days. Will just have to wait and see I guess! We may be weird cycle twins this month sorry you're having a weird uncertain time of it too, you're doing amazing holding off testing!

dreamer26 · 12/11/2018 19:40

Thank you @ItsAFunnyOldWorld, @miniscotchegg and @XxTaeexP I hope we all have so much luck this month.

What is a FRER?

Just wondering whether people tend to wait until they have a period or do a test a few days/ day before it's due? I'm desperate to do one already!

WishingonaStar77 · 12/11/2018 20:18

Hi guys, may I join? I was completely silly and tested at only 6dpo but thought I saw a very very faint line.
I'm just waiting now and resisting the temptation to test again..
I too get through this morning FMU flushing quickly to avoid being tempted.
May test tomorrow morning if I can hold out! 😬

@dreamer26 FRER is a first response early result. One of the most sensitive ones you can get. This is what I used x

dreamer26 · 12/11/2018 20:23

@WishingonaStar77 thank you for explaining what it was. I'm similar to you just wanting to do a test straight away and I have in past months even if I haven't had any symptoms.

This month definitely feels different though! I've had what I think is implantation cramps 2 days ago and implantation bleeding yesterday and today. That's been pinky/ brown discharge and the odd spotting. My nipples have also become very tingly!

I hope you get a positive result tomorrow! fingers crossed x

WishingonaStar77 · 12/11/2018 20:35

No problem dreamer26. Most months I test with a cheaper Asda early detection but this month I felt some symptoms and because I was so early I used the FRER. Just hope it's not an evap line!

I have already had 2 chemicals and 1MC at 9+6 this year so I'm just waiting on that golden egg!

WishingonaStar77 · 12/11/2018 20:36

Sore nipples if you don't usually get that is a good sign!

LondonKez · 12/11/2018 20:37

Welcome @dreamer26 and @WishingonaStar77! Sending you lots of luck for this month! It all sounds very promising!

@miniscotchegg frustratingly ovulation, AF and BFPs all seem to have very similar symptoms! Sorry that you're having such a weird cycle too. Maybe you are ovulating now?

I have a pack of frers that were optimistically purchased a few months ago, but AF was too prompt for me to ever use them! I'm going to do one tomorrow morning even though I am fairly confident it's a BFN. I think it won't be as tough to see a blank after 5 days of random spotting/bleeding.

dreamer26 · 12/11/2018 20:39

@WishingonaStar77 I am going to try and hunt down a first response test tomorrow and then I'll have it in ready, we are going to try and wait till Thursday to test but I get inpatient. Although maybe I'll be happy to wait once it comes to it in fear of getting a negative and my bubble being burst.

I'm sorry to hear about your losses, I really hope you get a positive, will you be taking another one tomorrow? I don't usually get tingly nipples no so fingers crossed this all means what I'm hoping it does! X
