  • Thou shalt not be offended by strong language
  • Thou shalt not tell everyone to eat yams
  • Thou shall accept being called a muppet for testing at 7dpo at 9pm at night

Oh god I am so grumpy today. Had one of those woke up on the wrong side of the bed days. No idea what's got onto me
Hallelulah for the weekend ! It's ok to drink in the tww right?

Owlpatrol · 30/11/2018 18:13

Nah all good @impatientmammy I did it a couple of months and saw increased cm xx

RC1985 · 30/11/2018 20:52

Asking to join thread. Been TTC #1 for a year, giving up hope. Having a bad day as heard about yet again someone announcing pregnancy and have to put brace face on. Went to GP to ask for tests but was told partner must do tests first before me. Hopefully won’t have to wait too long to find out results once test is done but who knows, NHS is a gamble depending where you live and what doctor you get. Anyway needed a rant. Sending baby dust and hugs to everyone on here.

Owlpatrol · 30/11/2018 21:03

Welcome @RC1985 you've come to the right place! NHS is a mine field and your so right literally depends on where you live! I sadly don't qualify for IVF on the NHS so it's the private route for us at some point. When we've saved £6k!

impatientmammy · 30/11/2018 21:37

Have you looked into IUI @Owlpatrol ? Also when you've been trying as long as you have you can drink when ever the hell you want 😘
Welcome @RC1985 hopefully you won't be here too long and you'll get your BFP x

RC1985 · 30/11/2018 21:38

@owlpatrol thanks for welcoming me. That’s a shame you don’t qualify for IVF, so expensive. I was on a website that tells you about IVF in your area earlier, socked to see some NHS trusts don’t even offer it, how is that fair compared to others that offer 3 goes! You only qualify where I live if you’ve been ttc for 2 years or more. Been contemplating whether to go for fertility tests privately and then go back to NHS. Did you do everything on NHS?

Owlpatrol · 30/11/2018 21:39

Nooo I know this sounds bad but I've not looked into IUI....I thought we wouldn't be eligible for that either? I'll have a look

impatientmammy · 30/11/2018 21:41

You won't be eligible @Owlpatrol (I'm not either) it is however cheaper and less invasive x

RC1985 · 30/11/2018 21:42

@impatientmammy thanks 😘 I hope so but not hopeful! At least we can all support each other on here 😀

Si1ver · 30/11/2018 21:44

@RC1985 you can still get your testing done on the NHS. They'll usually investigate after a year.

@Owlpatrol I'm sure I've mentioned this before, but I had my IVF abroad and all in I think it cost about half of what you're looking at.

impatientmammy · 30/11/2018 21:48

@Si1ver where'd you get it done? Did they speak English well? I have so many questions 🙈 x

Si1ver · 30/11/2018 21:52

I had mine in the Czech Republic in Brno. Their English was immaculate, everyone's in the city was but in particular the clinic staff. Which was helpful as I speak no Czech.

My ICSI cost me £2100, my meds £500, scans in the UK were £89 each and flights and accommodation were about £350/400. It's a cheap city for a holiday. We were there ten days.

impatientmammy · 30/11/2018 22:03

How many scans do you need to have first I've never looked into IVF at all as I know I couldn't afford it. I've had a really quick scan back over the chat and I'm really sorry I can't remember your ttc storey ? (I've not been on this thread that long really x

Si1ver · 30/11/2018 22:15

That's ok. I'd been TTC for two and a half years with one miscarriage. I have low AMH, which I only discovered once I started IVF.

You need a baseline scan before you start, follicles and uterine lining. Then I had five days meds then another scan to check response, I then had another three days of meds and another scan and at that point I flew out. Flights to Brno are about £36 each, but you can only fly direct from Stansted. You can fly to Prague and get a train at the other end.

I had another scan at the clinic when I got there, they extended my protocol to stimulate me for longer after that scan. Scans done at the clinic are included in the price. Then trigger, egg collection, five days wait and embryo transfer. Their embryo storage rates are very reasonable too. It costs us €90 a year for the two embryos we have on ice.

RC1985 · 30/11/2018 22:35

@impatientmammy have you looked into IUI? Not sure what your story is but it’s a lot cheaper and less invasive than IVF. Sorry if you already know about it.

RC1985 · 30/11/2018 22:57

Oh and just been reading through thread. @impatientmammy my OH wouldn’t take ttc vits either so I bought some and put them in an Aldi multi-vitamin tub and said take these. I give him a tablet with each meal and I thought he’d moan but it’s worked a treat and he does take them. I feel bad telling a white lie but needs must!

impatientmammy · 30/11/2018 23:41

@RC1985 that's amazing 😂 I have no idea why I let 3 different people rummage around my insides to remove a lost coil and yet he can't take a bloody vitamin. I have looked into IUI, thank you though. From what I've read the success rates aren't as good as IVF but I think it would probably be my next go to. I've only been trying about 13 months, my first was a surprise in that we were careless and bloody lucky so I'm hoping we can get another x

impatientmammy · 30/11/2018 23:44

Thank you @Si1ver how long ago was that? X

RC1985 · 30/11/2018 23:56

@impatientmammy I’m thinking of getting Maca powder and mixing in his tea next 😂😂😂 well from cost side of things 6 rounds of IUI isn’t far off one round of IVF so for me as long as we qualify for that treatment I’d rather try that first. I’ve been TTC for a year so not far behind you. I’ve conceived before but not with OH but had a termination which really gets to me now I’m trying. But we have to think positive, light at the end of the tunnel and all that!

impatientmammy · 01/12/2018 00:08

@RC1985 I like to think that one day when we get those BFPs all the struggles we went through first will make sense. I know that's what happened when I met my son. I'm sure it wasn't a decision you took lightly. X

Owlpatrol · 01/12/2018 03:02

@impatientmammy @Si1ver I'm going to look into this! I'd rather not travel but it seems like a really good option.

And @Si1ver what's AMH? X

Si1ver · 01/12/2018 08:46

@impatientmammy 31 weeks, so I was out there in May. I'm currently 31 weeks pregnant from my first cycle at Reprofit. Technically I'm an ex Yammer.

@Owlpatrol AMH is Anti-Müllerian hormone. A hormone which when read in conjunction with your fsh levels can indicate levels of ovarian reserve. The NHS don't test for it as standard. However it was what was causing my fertility issues.

I wasn't keen on traveling either, but the cost benefit combined with the increased success rates made it a no brainer and I'm pleased we did it.

Owlpatrol · 01/12/2018 08:51

Gosh yes I bet. I'm going to do some googling about this over the next few days, whilst trying to find the motivation to clean and do Christmas decorations!

RC1985 · 01/12/2018 08:55

@Si1ver lovely to hear you’re 31 weeks. Did you try IVF over here first?

@impatientmammy I had the termination when I was a lot younger, was in debt and just about to start uni, felt it wasn’t the right time but regretted it ever since. I put it to the back of my mind for years thinking i’ll be fine and occasionally what if I can’t get pregnant again. But you can’t change the past so you have to look forward.

Boboelephant · 01/12/2018 08:55

@impatientmammy I only drink grapefruit juice from about day 10. I hate it so can't be doing with it from day 1! Even with just through the fw I see a difference.
@Owlpatrol hell yes to drinking through few. Drink til it's pink I say. Also in the when we've been trying this long camp...
@RC1985 welcome. Just to let you know maca powder has a very strong taste so I think he'd know! 😂 I keep trying to drink it but cannot mask the wheat germ flavour! I also it my tests done on NHS after a year.

Just chiming in with the IUI/IVF chat. We're going straight to IVF as she said we have a 47% chance with that and about 12% with IUI. If you have more time then IUI can be a way forward. Not ideal for me but I only have the one tube now so keen to bypass that! We don't qualify either on NHS and I have to say Brno does sound tempting! @Si1ver did it work?
Also @Owlpatrol AMH is anti mullerian hormone which is your egg reserve.
