@ValidUser what is SMEP? Is it DTD every other day? X

@Delilah7 when's his MRI? Hope you're holding up okay xx

cupcakesandglitter · 02/09/2018 19:51

@Crossfitgirl I know that feeling! It's so hard when you want it so badly and it doesn't happen as fast as you'd like. But it does only take the one time, and it'll be more than worth it when our time comes xx

ValidUser · 02/09/2018 19:54

@cupcakesandglitter google "smep" and you will know all!

CrystalBlaze · 02/09/2018 19:56

Fingers crossed they can get him sorted quickly @Delilah7! Sending love.

@Crossfitgirl I'm not too bad thanks. Absolutely exhausted all the time though.

LondonKez · 02/09/2018 19:57

Sorry to hear so many have a tough week. Sending lots of positive energy and thoughts for a better week 💖

@crossfitgirl sorry, what is temping?

I just used my first OPK today (d12) but I think I should have started using them on d10? I used the One Step ones from Amazon? Does anyone else use them? Are they any good?

Delilah7 · 02/09/2018 20:03

@cupcakesandglitter awaiting the letter. He's got a chat with a cardio nurse or doctor on the 20th so me and my OH are going to take him and mum out for a meal after.

@CrystalBlaze thanks Hun I hope so!

Crossfitgirl · 02/09/2018 20:10

@Crystalblaze glad you're doing ok, and yes I should think its tiring growing a person inside you :-) hope it wears off the further you get along, and you have enough energy to get nesting!!
@cupcakesandglitter yeah true it does just take the once. My SIL got pregnant from having sex once in 3 months (accident) she says her DH must have supersperm! There is hope for us all. When are you due?
@Londonkez I think the proper term is charging but it's taking your basal body temperature (bbt) every morning, it helps you identify when You have ovulated. For me it helped confirm the Opks.

A few of us are using the Amazon ones if you read up a bit (hard to catch up I know !!) And yes they do work. Depends on your cycle length as to when to start testing, yes day 10 would have been good but since the average is cd14 may still be worth doing them. And they are cheap enough that if you missed it you won't be bothered about wasting some!

OP posts:
Crossfitgirl · 02/09/2018 20:11

@Londonkez CHARTING not charging. Lol

I thin: you are right about the amount of pressure we are putting on ourselves crossfit in my mind it’s all or nothing and no in between so because I didn’t adhere to SMEP 100% I think I’ve failed. Rationally I know this is ridiculous but I DTD loads during FW in cycle 1 & 2 and it didn’t work. I think I need to give my head a wobble and relax a bit.

The idea that unprotected sex equals pregnancy is so ingrained for me that because it hasn’t happened, i think it can’t or won’t. Ultimately it only takes one little swimmer so anyone that has had sex is in with a chance!

LondonKez · 02/09/2018 20:38

@crossfitgirl Thank you! I probably could have worked out myself, sorry! I just started using natural cycles from d1 of this cycle.

Read back on the rest of the thread and saw the recommendation to test again in the evening. Glad I did - this morning was negative but just got a positive OPK... thank you ladies! I would genuinely not have a clue what I was doing without you!

stormtrooperjulian · 02/09/2018 21:01

My frers have arrived ready for testing before I go away on Thursday (if I can hold out that long!), and my Fitbit so I can start tracking my resting heart rate. This is only cycle 1 and I’m already obsessed, I hope I find it a bit easier to relax about it once the 1st cycle is out of the way.

HappyRambler · 02/09/2018 21:29

Hi all, new to mumsnet and am getting to grips with all the anacryonyms so please bear with me! 27 years old, off the pill for 3 years and have only recently started ttc as periods have been getting lighter (2-3 days) and longer apart (from 41-56 days). Didn't think we would start trying for another 1/2 years but worried it might take a while! Our plan is to have no plan and just to stop using condoms and see what happens!

Crossfitgirl · 02/09/2018 21:33

Yay @londonkez for the positive OPK! And @patapouf that's an awful lot of pressure, honestly, last month I had sex 3 times in my FW and I was gutted when it equalled no baby. I'm sure there's only like a 1 in 4 chance of pregnancy even if timing is perfect each time anyway, So we shouldn't be too hard on ourselves. We may have been spot on, and done absolutely everything right - but for whatever reason it either didn't stick, didn't find the egg, went up the wrong tube... Who knows once they are up there! Maybe the egg didn't like that particular sperm! It's just nature and I guess when everything is just right it will happen. Even though I hate to say that as I wish it just was not true.
I've found I've been a bit off with DH and a bit depressed this weekend after the lack of FW sex. I don't want ttc to get in between us - i think I need to chill out but he also needs to make more of an effort!

My DH though, usually comes round to ideas when he has come round to it of his own accord. I May have to wait a few months for him to realise we aren't getting pregnant, and for him to think himself... Oh actually, yeah we need to have more sex.

I think sometimes the more I push things the less likely he is to listen.
Then when I don't expect it, he does what I wanted- weeks after I wanted it!! Lol.

Does anyone else have that??

OP posts:
FlapJackered · 02/09/2018 23:08

@Crossfitgirl - how are you getting on with the temping? Do you think you'll keep going with it? Sorry you're having a rough day, we have all been there.

@Delilah7 - i hope your Dad is ok? When is the MRI?

@ValidUser - I am downloading that book now!

I am going to try and resist opks too early this cycle as the earliest I have ever ov'd is cd16. So I think I am going to start the cheapies on cd10 and then clearblue on cd13. I had 14 flashing smiley days last cycle and I swore I wouldn't use them this cycle, I just have no idea how they got in my amazon order?!? 😳 😂 I swear if I have more than 7 days of flashing smiley this cycle I will have a breakdown!

Crossfitgirl · 02/09/2018 23:22

@flapjackered I will see how I feel for the rest of this cycle and decide then, I'm getting used to it but I still find it stressful first thing when I wake up. I have been excited to see the definite rise post ov, it's so clear on my chart - but I feel like sacking it all off atm if DH is gonna be so "not arsed". Why bother if we're not going to use the info to time sex?

All the same, i feel an accidental clearblue order may appear in my amazon account too 😂

14 days of flashing smileys is long! Save your clearblue and go with the opk like you say. Would you be better just using an OPK? At least then, you still get the peak the day before ov, but you don't have the flashing for ages? Then it's just minimum of day before, and day of/ day after ov rather than 2 whole weeks of dtd?

How was your holiday btw?
Xxx

OP posts:
FlapJackered · 02/09/2018 23:33

@Crossfitgirl - I was in your exact position with DH a few cycles back, it is very very frustrating, but like you said, my DH has suddenly started making the effort last cycle so fingers crossed it continues. Hopefully the same will happen with yours, I think like you said it can take a while for them to come around to it all!
Temping is satisfying isn't it when you see that rise, I probably wouldn't bother if my cycles were regular though.

Holiday was great thanks, I just wish there could have been a little Italian conception there! Oh well! You're off on holiday soon aren't you? Maybe that will be just what you need to take your mind off it all.

That is actually a really good idea with the clearblue, just doing the peak ones. Next time!

Crossfitgirl · 02/09/2018 23:45

@flapjackered we go to greece next Saturday- the day AF is due! Either way, I'll be happy I can drink or I'll be happy I can't drink.

I hope DH does come round. We seem to have had fairly similar issues so fx I'm just a little behind you.

Glad you had a good hol, what cd are you now? The cbd are so pricey, if you get the same info consistently from the ICs as you do the CBD then it's worth thinking about scrapping them. Depends what you prefer I guess?

I am hiding under the covers in bed on my phone as I can't sleep, I have ovulation type pain on the right, it's niggling me and I'm googling all sorts. 3dpo so don't know what's going on. Is it a cyst? Is it implantation? Is it all in my head? My boobs are sore too. None of it has happened after ov before, so I'm super symptom spotting.

OP posts:
cupcakesandglitter · 03/09/2018 01:44

@Crossfitgirl I have no idea 😂 if I take the weird bleeding I had as AF, then I'm technically CD10... just going to have to see what happens this cycle!!

So jealous of your SIL I can't lie, how does that even happen 😭 super sperm indeed 😂

@ValidUser I've looked it up!! We're DTD every two days, but I'm not sure about whether to use the OPKs or not - I've never had a positive from them! X

@Delilah7 annoying that it's a waiting game :( sorry you're going through this, I hope you're being supported too. Sending hugs xxx

FlapJackered · 03/09/2018 06:55

@Crossfitgirl they are pricey aren't they, I have managed to get two cycles out of them so a bit cheaper than I originally thought. I reckon if I hadn't of had the 14 day flashing smiley they would have lasted 3 cycles.
I just like them as they are so clear and because my body does tend to gear up to ovulate then decide against it I trust them a bit more as they measure the two hormones rather than just LH.

I am cd7 now so will start testing with the cheapies on thurs or fri.

Ah Greece I am so jealous! I want to go back to the sunshine! Fingers crossed it is a celebration for you!
I am the worst for symptom spotting! Have you had your post ov temp rise? Hope you managed to get some sleep.

Delilah7 · 03/09/2018 07:50

@FlapJackered no idea yet hun, waiting for his appointment.

@cupcakesandglitter thank you ❤️

Weirdly I have a good feeling about baby making this september... don't know why but just do. Periods letting up which is good too! Hope you're all ok xx

MrsR16 · 03/09/2018 08:32

@Delilah7 fingers crossed for you this month!!

MrsR16 · 03/09/2018 08:35

I completely forgot to test this morning... that's not helpful! I've got so much going on in my house it just went out of my head! Should I test later today or wait till tomorrow morning?

TTC first baby... mega thread!
stormtrooperjulian · 03/09/2018 08:58

Aaahhhh my boobs hurt so much today! It’s annoying me that I don’t know what to expect from a ‘normal’ cycle so I don’t know if the increasing boob pain is normal or not for me at this stage (8/9dpo)

ttcat32 · 03/09/2018 09:23

morning ladies,

Haven't been on all weekend so about 200 posts behind! Just wanted to check in, hope everyone is doing OK!

Good luck to all those testing this week! Smile
For everyone who is in FW i am praying for your peaches and your DH/DP's swimmers Wink
and for anyone at the beginning of a new cycle enjoy the Wine and treat yourself

and @MrsR16 I think if you are already late then it would probably still pick up, but if you think that you would doubt the result either way then there's always tomorrow

xxx
