@mrsc87 the 3 days before are your best chance aren't they? Other than ov day- as the sperm is there waiting ready! You've done great!! I wouldn't worry.

@MrsC87 the sperm can live up to 5 days inside you, and I’ve read that it’s better to have them there waiting before ovulation happens anyway, so try not to stress!

MrsC87 · 02/09/2018 09:16

Okay I'll call down, Thankyou @stormtrooperjulian @Crossfitgirl
Here's to the 2ww then!

How is everyone today?

Crossfitgirl · 02/09/2018 09:23

I've been having very mild period-like pains since ovulation on Thursday. I'm trying not to read into it but i haven't had it before so it's not normal for me.

It could just be all the crap food I've eaten tbh!

Test day is Saturday, I am going on hol the same day. I will only be 9dpo - do you think a FRER would work?

FlapJackered · 02/09/2018 09:24

@gjchapman I know what you mean, I was nervous to get the tests done but just want to know if there are any problems now rather than find out a year down the line.
What is the dye test? I have had the day 4 bloods and having the day 21 bloods this cycle then the ultrasound in October.
My DH has had his swimmers tested, it just involves them providing a semen sample either in the clinic in a room or at home and whizzing it over to the clinic. My DH didn't find it too stressful. Results came back within the week.

Delilah7 · 02/09/2018 09:25

@Crossfitgirl FRER should defo work hun. As long as it's 6 day's or whatever before period x

Crossfitgirl · 02/09/2018 09:29

Also - i think I've worked out my luteal phase wrong. If I ovulate on CD18, and I have a 26 day cycle, I thought that would make it 8 days.

But actually, if AF doesn't come until the day after that (cos you count day 1 as the next cycle) then is it actually 9 days????

I did this last month too, I thought AF was late as I got to CD 26 and she hadnt showed, before stupidly remembering that she would always be due on cd27 - at which point it becomes day 1 of the next one, therefore making it a 26 day cycle.

Help me out ladies I'm brain dead atm 😂 what are your luteal phases and how do you work it out? First day of period or last day of cycle?

OP posts:
Crossfitgirl · 02/09/2018 09:32

@delilah7 my luteal phase is so short, that 6 days before my period is due would only be 3 or 4dpo. I don't think it'd work xx

Can a man have his sperm tested any time or does he have to have been trying a year too?

Amber28 · 02/09/2018 09:35

@gjchapman when I made the very first appointment we had only been trying for about 4/5 months. I just went with my gut and told the dr it had been a year fast forward a few months still not had all the tests and still not pregnant and I came off the pill in September!! Just don't let them fob you off. I actually went for a smear test got talking to the nurse about it and she also gave me a nudge in the right direction and said I should book an appointment with the dr.

DH will need to do a test, basically needs to uh hum into a pot. Not very nice but has to be done!! Honestly just go to the Dr's don't delay it! Xx

Bettyhop · 02/09/2018 09:38

I had this crossfit, I didn't get my positive with a frer until the day my period was due, did one 4 days before which was negative xxx

gjchapman · 02/09/2018 09:38

@Amber28 I'm booked In for my smear in a few weeks so I'll ask then to. Yeah the bit in a pot like there and then bit, that's what I'm not sure he'll be okay with! 😬

gjchapman · 02/09/2018 09:41

@FlapJackered I looked on the NHS website and it's when they put dye in your tubes to see if they are blocked. If we aren't successful this time. I'll ask at my smear.

Amber28 · 02/09/2018 09:44

@ crossfitgirl

I was asked how often we had sex which was every other day. At the time I had an app on my phone so was making sure around ovulation time couple of days before we used to make the most of it. I deleted the app felt like it was taking over my life, sex became a chore. Now I know when I am ovulating, all that sticky mucus that comes our way once a month is a sure sign I am ovulating. I try not to think about falling pregnant now as we know we have issue with low sperm count but it is so difficult and the 2 week wait after it kills me every time.

Amber28 · 02/09/2018 09:52

@gjchapman

My nurse was really nice I have seen her before many times so was comfortable talking to her about it. My DH said it was awkward but painless, he said the room was very clinical they had 1 sofa which was covered in plastic you do the deed and just put the contents of the test away and from there someone else deals with it all. You can get the ball rolling asap by getting DH to go for a test first so by the time you see a Dr you already have one set of results.

Amber28 · 02/09/2018 09:55

Technically, yes a man can get tested any time but they will ask why he wants it best thing to say would be that you have been having unprotected sex for 13/14 months and no baby yet. Its a bit of a wait for the sperm analysis test anyway and if you fall pregnant before then well happy days xx 😊

gjchapman · 02/09/2018 10:00

Thank you

FlapJackered · 02/09/2018 10:14

@Crossfitgirl I told them we had been trying for just over a year. I have a good doctor and she immediately got the ball rolling on it all. DH also told the doc we had been trying for over a year. She asked me if we were having regular sex at my fertile time and if I was tracking my cycle.

@gjchapman that does sound fun, do they inject the dye in?

gjchapman · 02/09/2018 10:18

@FlapJackered I read it goes up your fu so not sure how it works! Does anyone else no better?

FlapJackered · 02/09/2018 10:23

@gjchapman I meant to say that does not sound like fun! I just did a bit of googling and may leave that one for a while! It sounds a bit painful and apparently it comes with some risks too. I am a bit of a wimp with these things.

gjchapman · 02/09/2018 10:25

@FlapJackered yeah I don't fancy that either ;(

Patapouf · 02/09/2018 16:23

mrsc try not to beat yourself up about it. SMEP didn’t exactly go to plan for me this month either but there’s still a chance!

MrsC87 · 02/09/2018 16:27

How did you get on @Patapouf?
It's hard going, life and tiredness definitely get in the way!
And it's so hard to remain relaxed throughout the whole process! Looking at holidays for next year as a distraction.

Delilah7 · 02/09/2018 17:09

hi guys - hope you're all ok took any of time this morning to relax and not post.
periods been getting back to a managable state. when do you think I should do my OPKS?! SMEP says cycle day 10 but I'm wondering if I actually ovulate a lot earlier... x

Patapouf · 02/09/2018 17:40

@MrsC87 we managed to DTD ON CD 8, 10, 13,14,15. Ovulated on day 15. SMEP means we should have DTD on CD12 and 17 as well.

I’ve sort of my resigned myself to it not happening this month. I’m trying not to get my hopes up because I don’t want to feel as totally crushed as I didn’t when AF arrived on Cycle one and two.

I’m travelling to a developing country next month that has sub par healthcare so it might be for the best if TTC doesn’t work this cycle. I’m so terrified of a MC or something else going wrong that I know I’d want to be home if it did.
