Cheap home OPK sticks

Hi

Currently using flo app on my phone and dates when I should have ovulated have been and gone I've been using cheap home opk sticks and didn't get a second line of any kind at all during the flo predicted time. I've kept testing and the last couple of days I've been getting a faint second line which i think is getting darker. Does this mean anything at all? I've read that unless it's completely the same as the test line it means nothing

I'm confused, it's not that far from my period being due so does that mean i have not ovulated this month!?

Thanks

The opks detect a surge but don't confirm that you definitely ovulate. When did you start testing? It could be you ovulated earlier in your cycle. I did notice 2 lines but never what I'd think was a positive.

Have you tried temping? You can confirm ovulation with that.

Do you track your cervical mucus?

VenusStarr · 28/07/2018 18:01

Sorry - the above was when I was doing opks.

How long have you been trying?

minnierose3 · 28/07/2018 18:13

This is the first month of tracking, considering trying in the next month or so but still not 100% haha!! Want to get better in tune with my cycle again after coming off implant

Not really looked into temping although have heard about it

What CD are you on and what's your normal cycle length? The apps just go by the vague data you put in and use an average luteal phase length. Essentially they "go by dates" which is one of the least accurate ways to track cycles. You may well ovulate in the next few days. Sometimes people see a "fade in" pattern (where the line gradually gets darker) but some don't. LH fluctuates frequently throughout your cycle so it's normal to get random slightly darker lines.

minnierose3 · 29/07/2018 09:40

I'm on day 12, and my cycles are about 25 days, I've only had what I would class as 2 'normal' cycles since coming off the implant though

So I either ovulated early, will ovulate over next day or so or didn't ovulate at all this month! 😐😐

VenusStarr · 29/07/2018 10:12

@minnierose3 my cycles are a similar length to yours. Last month I think I ovulated on day 14, had ovulation cramps on day 13. My period started on day 27, the longest cycle I've had since coming off the pill in December. So I think you might still ovulate but might be later for your period. Have worked out my luteal phase is 12 days. This month had ovulation cramps day 9 so think I ovulated earlier so will expect af slightly earlier I think.

Ttc is a bit of a minefield and head fuck but I'm trying to see it positively as me understanding my body x

Funkyemzie · 29/07/2018 10:16

I test with OPK's once a day from cd10 then when I see even a hint of a line I start 3 times a day but never with first pee of the day. My surge is really quick so I have to do 3 times a day to catch it. I use the home bargains cheapo ones.

I also temp which is a very good way to track ovulation and i track cm and cervix position too. Fx it's maybe a late ovulation. X

yikesanotherbooboo · 29/07/2018 10:31

Am I understanding that you have a contraceptive implant?
If so you won't ovulate or have a normal cycle

minnierose3 · 29/07/2018 10:37

No I did have the implant but had it removed beginning of May xxx

minnierose3 · 29/07/2018 10:38

Oh god @venusstar what is luteal phase?!?!

OP posts:
yikesanotherbooboo · 29/07/2018 10:44

Sorry , misread.

VenusStarr · 29/07/2018 11:12

It's the time between ovulation and your period starting @minnierose3, any time between 10 and 16 days is normal. Textbooks say 14 days but that's based on a typical 28 day cycle. Anything less than 10 could indicate an issue.

Do you use an app at all? I don't input everything but use flo just to see where I am in my cycle. It can get obsessive though so I have to be careful

minnierose3 · 30/07/2018 22:27

Hi no not using an app for ovulation tracking can you recommend one?

Well just in case any one was following this but i just wanted to let you know I've had success with the cheap OPKs this month! Very, very early in my cycle! Must have been testing too late before. Results were there in less than 1 minute!

What CD is today for you?
I'm confused with mine atm and currently think I ovulated on CD9. Which seems mad and way too early but would like to know how other people have been doing.

December2018 · 14/08/2018 15:11

If it's any help ladies I didn't get a positive the whole month we conceived so don't always go off OPKs I'd just go with the flow and try and enjoy your partners and have fun 😜

This was the darkest one I got that cycle xxx

December2018 · 14/08/2018 15:12

.... literally nothing there at all 😖

MsHopey · 14/08/2018 15:33

Always a possibility then.
Have been DTD every other day since CD9, and started using fertility gel from CD11, so trying to cover my bases.
I just had one darkish line (no where near positive) on my first OPK of the month on CD11 and had no lines since. Worried i ovulated on CD9 which is why my line disappeared instead of getting darker.

minnierose3 · 14/08/2018 17:19

It's just CD9 for me so mega early too was very surprised! Not TTC at the moment @december2018 just tracking after coming off the implant xx

minnierose3 · 14/08/2018 17:22

Sorry CD10 xx

Ahhh. I had my implant out at the start of June which might explain why we're both in a similar timeline then.
I've only had one period so far which started on 1st of August, so this is my first proper cycle, which is annoying because I was hoping to get pregnant right away (I know it's super unlikely) but wasted months waiting for my period.
Is there a link between implant removal and early ovulation? (Or is it shorter cycles)

ttcat32 · 14/08/2018 19:23

Ladies could I ask your opinion on this test, I'm CD20 so hoping I am finally getting there!
