Chemical pregnancy help?

Beautifulblue · 24/07/2018 14:41

Hi,
Last week I got lots of faint positives on different brands of pregnancy test but they weren't getting any darker. I prepared myself for the worst & yesterday I started to bleed. The bleeding has been much heavier than anything I've experienced & my back/ribs have been quite achy but it's manageable with ibuprofen. I took another HPT this afternoon & there is still a faint line. Is this normal? Does it take a few days for the hormone to leave your body even after a big bleed? I haven't consulted my doctor about this. Any advice appreciated!

No advice, but am going through EXACTLY the same thing and it feels a bit shit doesn't it? Still have tummy stretching and tingly boobs, but have basically had a normal period now. 🙄

Beautifulblue · 24/07/2018 14:52

@notmary yeah it is a bit shit! I know this is no longer a viable pregnancy I just really expected the test to be totally negative at this point which would put my mind at rest everything is done/gone 🙁 are you still getting faint positives?

I did yesterday - which was 48 hours after the first test. I sort of knew the line wasn't strong enough so I had already resigned myself to it not going anywhere but I still feel quite upset and a bit miffed, actually.

I'll do another one this evening and see what that one says. Hopefully nothing and I can move on to next month.

Beautifulblue · 24/07/2018 15:15

Keep me posted @notmary & I'll do the same. It's rubbish I'm sorry you're going through it to. But hopefully nature will take its course for us

I will do- and likewise!

NotMaryWhitehouse · 24/07/2018 15:38

.....and if anybody else does have anything to add, it would be appreciated!

Beautifulblue · 24/07/2018 15:44

Definitely, was hoping someone who had experienced it had a similar situation.

Just my two penneths here, but with DD2 I had many positive pregnancy tests and then what was basically like a normal period for almost a week. Was very confused to still find myself getting positive tests and when I was scanned at 5w 2d there was a heartbeat. I continued to bleed on and off for 13 weeks with no reason ever found (after no bleeding at all with DD1) but DD2 was fine and born totally usually at 38+4.

So if you keep getting positives maybe push to be seen at the EPU. Good luck.

Beautifulblue · 24/07/2018 15:58

Thanks @reggie but they're very faint & id of been due on today so think they would of been stronger. Plus the bleeding is severe unfortunately!

Hello! I have had two miscarriages and a chemical. Each time the tests have got progressively fainter rather than straight from positive to negative. It took a while even after bleeding to get a stark white BFN. I'm so sorry you appear to be going through this. Lots of positivity being sent your way.

Beautifulblue · 24/07/2018 19:37

Hi @claire. Thanks so much for sharing that, sorry you've had to go through it so many times 🙁 If you don't mind me asking, the cycle after your chemical were you a little later than usual?

OP posts:
clairehr · 24/07/2018 19:45

@Beautifulblue I actually don't know! I got my BFP straight after my chemical. My cycles were a little messed up after he miscarriages though so I would have thought the chemical would have been similar.

Firsttimer16 · 24/07/2018 20:22

Hi @Beautifulblue sorry to hear you're going through this. I had a CP and I had faint lines which gradually got fainter and fainter too, then I did a digital at what would've been past my period date and it said not pregnant so I knew it was not viable - you could do that to make sure?
I ovulated a week late the cycle after (and then period was also a week late), but the cycle after that (the one just gone) I got bfp and ovulated as normal. Fingers crossed for you next cycle.

ohdeardeardear · 24/07/2018 20:24

I had one recently. I was heartbroken. Still am. My tests went fainter and fainter then when the bleeding stopped it was negative. Sorry to hear you're going through it Thanks

thereareworsethingsicoulddo · 24/07/2018 20:45

I've had 2 this year unfortunately. At 5 and 6 weeks pregnant. Both classed as chemical, and much heavier than a usual period. I spoke to the EPU both times and they advised I should get a BFN within 2 weeks otherwise need to be seen- completely normal to get positive test for a while I'm afraid. Hoping for better luck next time for us both Thanks

GruffaloPants · 24/07/2018 20:51

When I had a chemical pregnancy I was told (EPU phone consultation) to wait a week to test. I cracked after 5 days of cramping and period-type bleeding and it was negative at that point.

Thankswishing you all the best. I know how crap this feels. Keep an eye out for signs of ectopic.

NotMaryWhitehouse · 03/08/2018 10:36

How are you now @Beautifulblue? I have not ovulated yet (cd14 today) but tests negative.

Had imagined since it was so close to expected period date anyway that everything would just happen as normal, but clearly not...... hate waiting.

Beautifulblue · 03/08/2018 11:48

Hi @notmary. I've taken a break from testing this month I've actually ran out of all tests & have purposely not bought anymore. But I can usually tell when I'm ovulating due to CM (sorry) & no sign of that yet. My bleeding went on for a few more days than normal though (7) so I'm only cycle day 12. Hope you get a BFP ovu test soon & are lucky this month!

Same to you too, take it easy x

sprinkleofsunshine · 07/08/2018 07:33

I had one month before last, dr advised to test in 3 weeks to make sure it was negative as the hormone should have left the body by then. Sorry you are going through it they are truly horrible x

Ask1984 · 08/08/2018 08:21

Hi ladies, can I join please, feeling so down today. I got a faint positive on 8dpo first response and needless to say I was so happy. I waited a few days and tested on first response again this morning. So sad to say that it was a stark white BFN :( I don't know what happened, feeling is that it was a chemical pregnancy. Period isn't due for another 4 days...am I still in with a chance?
I really hope there are some positive endings to this scenario out there 😔

Beautifulblue · 09/08/2018 18:14

Hi @Ask1984 I'd wait until your period is due & test then if you have more patience than me unfortunately I had the same thing as you last month & it did turn out to be a chemical. Hope it's not the same for you & it's just early. Good luck Flowers

Hi everyone. I was testing positive 4 weeks after a chemical in April. It just took ages to get out of my system. It was a really confusing time, getting my hopes up and then worrying about ectopic etc. A bit of a rollercoaster! I eventually got a negative but I only got my first period since the cp 3 weeks ago. Sometimes it just takes a while for your body to get back to normal, hope this helps. Sending positivity to everyone xx

Beautifulblue · 10/08/2018 22:47

@NotMaryWhitehouse how are you getting on? Have you ovulated yet? Haven't been testing still but no signs here at 19dpo... thinking the chemical lady month has set me back a bit. Hope you're feeling ok Flowers

Beautifulblue · 10/08/2018 22:48
