when do you think the best time is to have a baby

planning on trying for another baby soon, what is other peoples opinions of the best time to have one?

we are ttc our dd is 1in two weeks! i want her sibling to be close in age! why how old yor dc?

There is never a good or right time to have a baby, everyone has a different point of view about age gaps etc, at the end of the day if you want another baby and you are healthy and happy, get on with it.

Agree with Lilliput. Would also like to add that sometimes it can be difficult to plan. We tried for no.2 when first was 6m. Concieved when first was 10m. Then miscarried. Took until first baby was 2yo before we were successful again. So didn't quite work out the way we'd planned. Abandoned planning after that and no.3 born 16m after no.2, no.4 born 15m after no.3

ds is 15 months now so not really sure if to leave it till later on in the year or sooner really, but like you say you can't always plan it can u.

why planning on a specific time? at the end of the day babies have the last word on when to come. [erm... sorry, perhaps I'm aproaching the "if they come" time of my life )

It is an individual thing, though. My sister wouldn't even entertain the idea of another baby until her first was around 3y. Then it took her another 12m to psyche herself up to it. Her 2nd was born when first was 5y. She says it worked out better for them all that way.

I was 36 when i had dd took me 18 month to get pg.

we decided when dd was 10 ttc no 2 it took another 18mth to get pg again unfortunley ended in a mc at 10 weeks.

I am now 26 wks pg after another 6 months.

I'm not trying to put you off or force into a decision thats not right for you, but we knew that i might take me a while to get pg as i have a erratic cycle.

It has to be whats right for you and your family. I have one freind who waited until her first was a school before having her second and another freind who has had 4 in as many years but this is what they wanted.

thanks for all your messages, considering (if it works out!)trying for a baby this autumn so could possibly have a baby in the summer all being well. I have heard people saying that it isn't such a good idea to have summer babies due to carrying the baby whilst it's hot, has anyone had any experience of this?

my dd was born 6thjune last year and dont think i could have coped with being pg any further into the summer, thinking about it i dont know how i kept her cool over the summer! good luck with your ttc!

Personally all the planning in the world means nothing after years of infertility, just the fact that we ended up with a big family is wonderful, don't care when their birthdays are.

Summer so parties can go out into the garden and they can have sleepovers in a tent outdoors etc. But termtime so their friends are not all on holiday instead of at the party.
I have a twenty month gap and it was unplanned and hard but it will be great eventually.

Ds2 was born the beginning of May and that was perfect for me. After two summer babies, and really suffering in 37-38 degree temperatures, it was lovely to not feel too whale like in the heat. Ds2 spent most of his first 3 months in the pram in the garden while the children played. And the summer holidays were lovely - he was just the right age for visiting people!
