Who’s trying SMEP this month?

Support thread for those giving smep a go this month! I’m CD6 so going to start soon. All fingers crossed that this works for us all this month.
Debating whether to buy CB OPK or just stick with IC - might do IC until around FW and then see if I can find a few old CB lying around to confirm a positive.
Anyone else giving this a go?

@Bas27 yes, even though I'm only 5DPO! I also got some intense cramping earlier and convinced myself it was implantation. The logical part of my brain has completely given up on me at this point.

@TheMagicTorch good luck with the FRER!

@BeeKeeping I didn't ovulate until around CD29 when I got pregnant with DS2. Hang on in there!

Angelmiracle · 11/07/2018 23:52

I hate how the symptom 'I don't 'feel' pregnant' on the Countdown to pregnancy website indicates you're more than likely you're not going to be 😭😭😭

I said it even before fertile week - I feel this month won't be the lucky one.

Im not saying it like aw poor me it never happens - my gut just isn't feeling it. Talking to some friends in general regarding themselves they are all "you just know!!' 😣

I was 8 weeks before I twigged with DS - so symptom wise I feel I have no experience except thinking I had a kidney infection but it was likely implantation pain at the time!

What do you lot think? Do you know or not?

NoseringGirl · 12/07/2018 00:28

I was convinced AF was coming when I was pregnant with DS2. I had spotting and cramping, plus my boobs didn't hurt like they did with DS1. After I got the BFP, I made the connection with the dizzy spells I'd had the couple of days before but if you'd asked me right before I'd tested, I'd have said I didn't feel pregnant at all.

Angelmiracle · 12/07/2018 00:39

So nice to hear @NoseringGirl I was too far on with DS to remember much. At about 6/7 weeks my boobs were in agony as they would be before AF but I don't get any tenderness in them at all now and was worrying they weren't even sore in tww! Good to know it's not totally necessary to be.

I know it's good to be positive but I also dont like getting my hopes up! I know ruling it out too early is hardly the right way of thinking but when AF appears it's too sad!

Angelmiracle · 12/07/2018 00:39

Btw @NoseringGirl you are a wealth of knowledge!!😁

Kelsoid · 12/07/2018 01:56

@Angelmiracle honestly...the past three cycles I've convinced myself I was pregnant. The first cycle was the worst, as my boobs swelled up and I got nausea in the morning...symptoms of PMS I'd never had before! Then when I got some brown spotting a couple days before AF I was like "OMG IMPLANTATION!!". Never felt so stupid when AF came along.

I unfortunately didn't learn from that and got just as excited the next two cycles, same symptoms, same time span, but AF showed up on exactly the right day. I'm trying not to be excited this time around...but I've ovulated two days earlier and have had an extra long LH surge...so everything in my heart is telling me this is my month.

God I sound like a crazy woman 🙄

Firsttimer16 · 12/07/2018 07:10

@Kelsoid it's impossible not to get your hopes up isn't it? There's this period on the tww where you're so full of hope (and also fear) but it's such a nice time as anything is possible until you crash down with Af :(

I don't know if my Cp had different symptoms as it wasn't proper - but with ds1 I absolutely knew I was pregnant before I got positive pregnancy test - my boobs would wake me they were so sore, they felt like water balloons. The month I got positive (but it was CP) I had barely any symptoms and was shocked to get a positive test. I'm not sure if it was because the hormone level was so low or cos it was just different pregnancy 🤷‍♀️.

Thanks @Angelmiracle haha! Two kids that took nearly 18 months each to conceive plus my obsessive nature means I've picked up a few things along the way 😁

@Kelsoid you don't at all! It's understandable that you've got that extra bit of hope this month. Fx that it's your month!

6DPO for me today and my temp is continuing to rise (along with my hopes!)

TheMagicTorch · 12/07/2018 09:17

😞 Not even a squinter this morning on the FRER, stark white BFN.
Pretty disappointed - sincerely hoping it's just too early and my dates are slightly out. Really thought this month would work.

@Kelsoid you don't sound crazy! 🤞 for you, and if not there's always camping next month!

TheMagicTorch · 12/07/2018 09:34

Talked myself around after this link was posted on another thread...
www.countdowntopregnancy.com/tools/pregnancy-test-calculator.php
Put my dates in and it says not to test until tomorrow at the earliest
So 🤞🤞🤞🤞 it was just slightly too early.

How's everyone else feeling today

NoseringGirl · 12/07/2018 09:41

Sorry for the BFN @TheMagicTorch hopefully there's just not quite enough hcg there yet and you'll get that positive soon.

I'm doing my usual at this point in the TWW of swinging wildly between hope and pessimism. I was excited by my temps creeping up but looked at last months chart and it's exactly the same and that was obviously BFN. Just need to keep busy and wait a few days!

TheMagicTorch · 12/07/2018 09:57

@NoseringGirl it's torturous isn't it 🙁
I was the same yesterday-one minute convinced I was pregnant the next convinced it's not gonna happen this month.
I'm doing the same but comparing it to my chemical last month. This time last month I got my faint line on a frer but obviously didn't work out so I'm comparing how I felt last month to now.

MrsV2018 · 12/07/2018 10:37

Hi everyone

I think I'm out this month. 2dpo I think but wasn't feeling too well yesterday so didn't dtd. And I've been taking ibuprofen without thinking stupidly so apparently that affects implantation

Firsttimer16 · 12/07/2018 10:47

@TheMagicTorch sorry to hear about bfn but I guess it's impossible to know when implantation happens anyway (I think it can be between 5-12dpo?) and then it takes a few days after that for tests to show positive. So hope is not lost yet! Can you hold out 2 days to try again?

TheMagicTorch · 12/07/2018 11:03

@Firsttimer16 thank you, Yeah I'm still a bit hopeful! Not out yet! I was gutted this morning but talked myself round now. going to try and wait til Saturday morning to test again.

Kelsoid · 12/07/2018 15:00

@TheMagicTorch sorry about the BFN...these things can always be too early though so fingers crossed for a BFP in a couple days? It's all so horrible isn't it. I'm with everyone else...maybe just wait it out and don't do one tomorrow, give your body enough time to build up hCG if things have worked out this month :)

Tell you what guys...I've never been so glad to ovulate. This SMEP thing is DRAINING!!! We always considered ourselves to be fairly active but this is like....next level!!! Thankful for a few weeks now of just having sex when we're in the mood and not just as routine 😂 don't get me wrong, the sex is still always great and it's never boring. Just...tiring!

TheMagicTorch · 12/07/2018 15:06

@Kelsoid - thank you, yeah definitely, I'm going to give tomorrow a miss and then test Saturday morning. I only have 3 FRER left and I don't want to be peeing on £5 notes basically 😂or stressing myself!

I know exactly what you mean! It's been nice during the TWW to just chill out a little bit and get into it when we're in the mood, and because we want to! Not to make a baby 😂
On the other hand I quite liked knowing when my days off were so I could just chill out with a nice book and cup of tea 😂

winterwarmers · 13/07/2018 05:51

cd21 and a good temp rise think I defiantly ovulated on cd19 glad we just dtd four days in a row just in case

JustLikeTheySaid · 13/07/2018 10:37

I'm 8DPO today, I think I might think about testing on Sunday at 10DPO. But maybe not. Feel so sure I'm out this month that it is hard to get excited. No real reason to feel that I am out, or that we are going to struggle... I just feel like I "know".

Kelsoid · 13/07/2018 17:56

Send help. 😩

I mean...WHAT EVEN IS THIS. Today is CD16 and the first time my temperature has spiked, so I guess I better keep on BD'ing for a couple more days 🙄

My loins hurt. Like actually hurt 😂 I swear I feel like I have arthritis in my hips.

Who’s trying SMEP this month?
dee7409 · 13/07/2018 19:20

@kelsoid ha ha, I gave up....it seems like 13, 14, 15 were the optimal days for BDing..good luck

Kelsoid · 13/07/2018 19:48

@dee7409 that's what I was thinking...won't be buying this brand again 🙄 way too sensitive!! Lucky for temping else I'd have no idea!

Firsttimer16 · 13/07/2018 20:26

@Kelsoid wow no wonder you're confused!! I just use the onestep ones off amazon and I get barely any line for most of the month then it's so obvious when I get my surge! Have you tried those ones?
I've said it before but are you 10000% sure you're not pregnant?! I think you took a test to rule this out though.

OP posts:
Kelsoid · 14/07/2018 03:19

@Firsttimer16 if only!! I've don't three HCG's from two different brands...not so much as an evap line. Admittedly they weren't FRER, they were only cheap tests that came with my OPK's, but at what would in theory be 6 weeks pregnant that should surely be enough!

I think yours are the brand of OPK's I bought last time. Problem with being here stateside visiting my dad is that I'm limited to US amazon, Walmart and CVS...all of which have the same cheapies! I think I'll invest in the Clearblue digital if this month doesn't work out. It's just easier!

Bas27 · 14/07/2018 06:40
