Staying Sane - Positivity during TTC journey

KnitKitty · 13/06/2018 18:26

Hi ladies,

So, TTC is an anxious and sometimes heartbreaking time and is just a constant roller-coaster of emotions:
Some of us have been trying for a long, long time and just feeling like it will never happen.
Some of us are trying after a previous pregnancy loss.
Some of us aren't seeing eye-to-eye with OHs.
Some of us don't have an OH to lean on and are going through it alone.
Some of us are trying with fertility treatment.
Some of us are trying for our first, and some our fourth
Some of us want to be trying but can't yet for one reason or another.
Some of us are dealing with health issues which may affect fertility or mental health.
And some of us are about to, or have just started trying and might be worrying about how long it will take or if this or that will effect fertility etc etc...

It's just not the funnest journey to be on and I thought we could do with a thread just for positive messages and thoughts.

SO, no negative messages on this thread, but feel free to post:
A positive mantra or affirmation you use or think someone else could use
An idea of how to relax or pass the TTW time
A nice thing that happened to you recently
A success story despite the odds
A picture or word of hope (rainbow pictures most welcome)
A positive message to those who are going through one of the above scenarios at the moment even if you're not on the same journey as they are right now
A nice/positive quote you've read or heard
Or something which brightened up your day

The idea is that anyone having a wobble for whatever reason can come here and soak up some positive energy to help them feel better.

I'll go first:
A mantra I have been repeating to myself at the moment is "Good things happen to me. I accept miracles in my life."

A word of hope for anyone thinking of coming off the pill or who has just come off the pill and who has a history of endometriosis; I have suffered with endo in the past and was very worried that the moment I stopped taking the pill I would get all clogged up with endo again, but I conceived in the second month after coming off the pill and I have a colleague whose wife conceived two children (one the first month after coming off the pill, the second the third month after the pill) without a problem even though she has endo too.

Right, who's with me? Any more positive stuff to share anyone?

@CookieWaffle mind in my post I mentioned going to a kinesiologist it was 4 days before conception. She asked me did I ever wear braces which I had. She said my jaw was slightly off on the left side and I said I can actually make it click on that side. She told me there's a link between an offset jaw and fertility she said you'll not believe me! I thought it extremely weird to say the least. After getting my BFP I contacted her to let her know so I could adjust the supplements I was on. And she commented on the fact she had made the adjustment to my jaw "it must of helped" lol!! It was the left side ovulated from too. Who knows! And she said was the cause of my sinusitis and headaches 😄

CookieWaffle · 25/07/2018 22:43

@KnitKitty I'll order one puppy cuddle please!

@Angelmiracle how strange?? Apparently mine is slightly offset too. It's funny how things are related. I'm hypermobile (extra bendy) and get IBS and apparently those things are linked too. Who'd have thought that being able to bend your thumb to your arm would give you dodgy bowels!

We had an unsuccessful BD this morning but a successful one this evening, got the preseed and did the legs in the air dance for luck so we'll see!

ChaosMoon · 26/07/2018 09:12

@KnitKitty I think its too early but I'm living in hope! Woke up feeling incredibly happy and at peace this morning, so I'm making the most of that. You win though. Golden retriever puppies are the best!

@Angelmiracle how's everything going with you now?

I hope it all got where it needed to last night @CookieWaffle. I've been using preseed too. Do you find it difficult to work out how much to use? Always seem to have too little or too much, and there doesn't seem to be room for anything else... Sorry, tmi!)

KnitKitty · 26/07/2018 09:30

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you ChoasMoon.

It's really weird how seemingly random parts of the body can have an affect on how other parts work. But then, it is all connected.
I studied Reflexology many moons ago and that is all about how the body is connected in strange ways, so it makes sense to me, but still weird and fascinating.

This morning I'm thinking of things I am grateful for.

I am grateful for my wonderful OH who is supportive, kind, loving and funny.
I am grateful for my family who are always there for me.
I am grateful for my friends and colleagues whom I can lean on when I need support.
I am grateful that I have a steady income and a roof over my head and enough food on my table.
I am grateful that I am cat-mum to a lovely little creature who gives me cuddles (and was by my side like a shadow when going through MMC, giving my belly lots of attention and love).
And this week I am most grateful that my friend's baby got through her heart operation and is recovering really well.

Morning everyone :)

Still feeling positive, I'm loosely tracking when we've dtd and feeling hopeful. I'm sure Dh has been researching when to dtd as he's been taking the lead and I'm feeling more relaxed about things. I'm due in around 10 days and won't test early this month. We've got a busy couple of weeks so that helps. Had acupuncture against yesterday and the last before me was 8 weeks pregnant and the one after was 16 weeks so feeling confidence in my practitioner. Think it's definitely regulating my cycle which is great and I find it relaxing.

Puppy cuddles sound great @KnitKitty :) glad you got another go @CookieWaffle. You sound incredibly relaxed @ChaosMoon. It's great we're all here supporting each other, it inspires me.

Have a lovely day!

VenusStarr · 26/07/2018 09:37

We cross posted there @KnitKitty, glad your friend's little one is recovering well. I like your list of gratitudes too, I think it helps keep in the present

KnitKitty · 26/07/2018 09:43

Yes absolutely VenusStar. I find it especially hard staying in the moment when I'm in the TTW, so it helps to remember all the things you already have to be grateful for. :)

I'm glad things are feeling so positive for you. It's great that your DH has been taking the lead, that's a real blessing as it does take a lot of pressure away. Fingers and toes crossed for you!

@ChaosMoon I am really doing great!! Some days I get lots of symptoms but these past couple of days I have been feeling pretty normal. Got my appointment through for booking in and dating scan really looking forward to that 😊

Sending you all lots of positive baby vibes ♀️♂️ The attitude you all have is amazing!

KnitKitty · 27/07/2018 07:30

Angelmiracle how exciting!

I'm due my period this weekend and I'm finding the TTW hard at the moment.
Anyone got any good mantras or affirmations they can suggest to me to help stay calm?

Hope everyone is coping OK in this heat we've been having. Luckily we have air-con at work... Something I forgot to be grateful for yesterday!

Hope everyone has a lovely Friday.
Look out for the blood moon this evening ladies... Should be from 21:00 - 22:15. I often miss these astrological phenomenons but I'm hoping I might get to see this one!

Went to a gig last night, which was Brilliant. Late night though, so I was a zombie getting in a shower this morning. For a split second I thought, "oh my god, my boobs are sore, this never happens, its a sign!" Then I realised I'd just punched myself in the breast. Oops. 😂

Your DH sounds great @VenusStarr must be nice not to be carrying that mental load.

@Angelmiracle that's great! I bet you can't wait.

Me too @KnitKitty. I'll have to keep an eye out. Although I bet that's the one time we get rain!

Hope about - I trust the timing of my life.

CookieWaffle · 27/07/2018 13:21

Ooh I thought I'd replied @ChaosMoon, I must not have pressed the button! Preseed - instructions suggested up to the 3 line but I do then have to wipe it up a bit (sorry!). Did it before DP noticed the other day, so as not to ruin the mood and he didn't notice at least! If he does I just laugh it off! I've only tried it a couple of times so far.

I had sore boobs on one cycle, whacked them against a post and they were sore and I thought oh it must be a sign, but no just me being blind!

ChaosMoon · 27/07/2018 13:25

😂 I'm glad its not just me that does these things!

Thanks @CookieWaffle. 3 seemed a bit much for me but less doesn't seem enough... I guess it's all trial and error!

VenusStarr · 27/07/2018 13:40

I think it might have just been coincidence @ChaosMoon, I was reading last night and he asked what it was (baby making Bible) and he said, I thought we agreed to take it easy?! I find it interesting though. He was initiating at the right time though so maybe I was giving off subtle signs :)

Sorry to hear you're finding the last part of tww difficult @KnitKitty, I think dealing with uncertainty is hard. I'm not brilliant with affirmations but I'll have a think.

Good their from you @Angelmiracle, exciting!

Hi @CookieWaffle hope the preeseed helps

We're having new carpets tomorrow, thehouse is a mess with boxes everywhere but I can't wait! It'll all be worth it then :)

KnitKitty · 27/07/2018 21:18

It's cloudy... No blood moon for us to see. Never mind!! haha

ChaosMoon you made me laugh with your sore boobs in the shower story! You too CookieWaffle Daft women!!! Hahaha!
The things we get excited about in the TTW, huh? Yesterday I had a weird feeling in my uterus for several hours, like it was being stretched like a balloon being blown up. I have had this before my period before... Although it wasn't as strong a feeling, and I think it was the cycle I had a CP.
This evening I've been cramping though, so I think AF will arrive on time. Due on tomorrow. I've put a pad in.
No facial spots yet though which is good!

VenusStar Getting new carpets will feel like your home has had a face-lift. Hope they're nice and soft.

OP posts:
VenusStarr · 28/07/2018 09:37

How's everyone doing today? Early start this morning, the carpet guts are here! I said to dh I might just go and sit on the new carpet and stroke it later 😂

Hope you're not in too much discomfort with cramps @KnitKitty

Hope you all have a good weekend x

CookieWaffle · 28/07/2018 14:59

Happy Saturday! I got kicked out of the house and given money to go shopping today, what a shame.

Feeling very positive about this cycle, my chart is almost perfect so far and my temp has gone up so now for the tww!

Any signs of AF today KnitKitty?

KnitKitty · 28/07/2018 19:56

I expect VenusStar is lying on the floor stroking it right now... Hahahaa!

Ooohhh! CookieWaffle what did you buy? Retail therapy is the best!
Great that your chart is looking positive this month! Fingers crossed!!!

Well the cramping stopped again and no AF so far. Bit suspicious but I really don't want to get my hopes up as I don't feel pregnant.

OP posts:
CookieWaffle · 28/07/2018 22:39

I got sent to IKEA, that place is so dangerous. I think I came back with about 90% as stuff I really don't need. I did get a few looks :)

OPK still positive, this is a bit of a record! I think I must be extra hormony after the CP or something!

Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend!

VenusStarr · 28/07/2018 22:54

I have been stroking the carpet and walking barefoot :) it makes me smile everytime I come upstairs.

Glad the cramping has stopped @KnitKitty, understand you being cautious but fingers crossed for you.

Love ikea @CookieWaffle, we live really close to one so it's easy just to pop down. We were there last week eating meatballs, didn't do much shopping!

KnitKitty · 29/07/2018 09:06

I love IKEA too, but it's so hard not to get carried away!!!

CookieWaffle looks like a good strong month for ovulation! Hope it's a strong little eggie you're producing! They say you are more fertile after a loss... A silver lining I guess.

VenusStar I can imagine that feels lovely and luxurious. Anything that brings you a smile is worth being thankful for. :)

AF hasn't arrived yet. Will be buying pregnancy tests today. Shock

OP posts:
VenusStarr · 29/07/2018 09:16

Got my fingers crossed for you @KnitKitty! Will you test today?

KnitKitty · 29/07/2018 10:28

OH said we can talk about testing this evening if AF hasn't shown up today.

I don't feel pregnant. But then, I didn't back in February either.
I have convinced myself of every possibility... Pains and late period being caused by a cyst, or I never ovulated and I have just had ovulation and am going to have a really long cycle... But I know the most likely scenarios really are either AF is a day or so late, or I'm pregnant again. My head is all over the place.

OP posts:
VenusStarr · 29/07/2018 10:34

I can imagine! Maybe try to keep busy today with something you enjoy to distract you. It's great that your dh is supporting you through this. We're here too x

ChaosMoon · 29/07/2018 15:10

Test! It's more likely that you've always been ovulating a bit late, than any other scenario there. Don't forget that some people don't even know they're pregnant until they're months and months gone, because they have no symptoms. I really hope this is your month @KnitKitty!

KnitKitty · 29/07/2018 21:18

It was a BFN. Feeling quite crappy but OH has been extremely lovely.
