CALLING ALL YAMMER'S!

Yammer rules:

A safe place for those of you who have been trying to conceive for 6+ months and even yams aren’t helping. Come and have a good ol’ bitch and a moan without judgement. Please read the rules before posting!

The Yam Commandments are as follows;

  • Thou shalt not arrive one day and post BFP next day
  • Thou shalt not give advice to others when TTC for one month only
  • Thou shalt not participate in one-up-manship and realise TTC is shit for everyone in different ways
  • Thou shall allow posters to be fucked off with the world and everything in it at regular points in the month
  • Thou shalt not be offended by strong language
  • Thou shalt not tell everyone to eat yams
  • Thou shall accept being called a muppet for testing at 7dpo at 9pm at night

And most importantly...

  • Thou shalt not symptom spot during the two week wait and must be prepared for a telling off if you do so.

NEW RULE ALERT!

-Thou shalt not post pictures of positive pregnancy tests. We will be delighted to hear about it but no photos, please and thank you

Nice to hear from you @LookingAtTheStars89 ! I'm still plodding along ... pretty fed up with it all this week!

How are you?

Pinkemi · 02/08/2018 14:27

Hey @LookingAtTheStars89 . How are things?

Things this end are pretty rubbish. Not going to sugar coat it. lol

Turns out.. we could only just about afford Private IVF.. I never realised it cost just as much as it did, what with paying for the meds etc on top. :-/

Took a pregnancy test this morning and needless to say it was BIG FAT NEGATIVE. I mean I kinda knew that this month was probably NOT going to be our month due to the amount of stress both my DH and I have been under.. but I still had / have that hope.

Currently sitting here with cramping.. I'm sure FP will show her ugly face soon.

sorry.. Im doom and gloom yet again! lol

Pinkemi · 02/08/2018 14:28
  • with regards to the private IVF

I meant to say looks like we could only just afford it, if we were going to go down that route.

My original post made it sound like we had tried.

LookingAtTheStars89 · 02/08/2018 15:01

I'm ok thanks. I'm 12 weeks and 1 day now. I'm still knicker checking! My asthma has been pretty shitty with this heat Sad

@Chooklass. TTC is fairly soul destroying! Sometimes even now, I still feel anxiety over it even though I'm not doing it anymore - if that makes sense. DH and I haven't had full sex since my bfp, one because I don't want to chance anything and two - I have had enough fucking sex over the last 18 months or so to last a life time! Don't get me wrong, I LOVE sex with DH but the whole every other day routine whether you were in mood or not became exhausting - physically and mentally.

@Pinkemi. Have you looked abroad? When I was looking into it, it seemed a lot cheaper than in the UK. I never really got cramping before FP, it was my change in mood that tipped me off, all of a sudden I'd feel completely miserable out of nowhere, which just added to the shitiness of it!

OP posts:
Pinkemi · 02/08/2018 15:14

@LookingAtTheStars89 bet you didnt have a BFN the day before you were due though? To be fair.. the cramping might have been because i was hungry. Suddenly realised I hadn't eaten anything all day! (Been too much rubbish happening for me to concentrate properly.)

I "did" look into IVF abroad but i just dunno.. I dunno how I feel about it still if that makes sense. I worry that because I have a low AMH.. Could that egg that didnt make it in the lab maybe make it in my womb? You know? :-/

I mean yeah Im probably thinking too much into it.

Pinkemi · 02/08/2018 15:16

I mean.. yesterday i suddenly thought, I havent had my normal really achy boobs.. or putting on 4lbs in one night.. but that BFN this morning put me back down to earth. lol

LookingAtTheStars89 · 02/08/2018 15:27

@Pinkemi. I don't think they use eggs that don't make it in the lab. You have to do what's best for you though.

I couldn't honestly answer about the bfn because I actually have no idea when fp is ever due these days lol I know it was cd32 so it may have been due. When I've been pregnant before I've certainly never had an early positive.

LookingAtTheStars89 · 02/08/2018 15:29

@Pinkemi. Re boobs - I have NEVER had achey boobs during this pregnancy!

OP posts:
Pinkemi · 02/08/2018 15:31

@LookingAtTheStars89 Sorry what I meant was.. out of all the eggs that are collected.. the ones that don't make it... If they had the correct environment in the womb.. maybe they MIGHT have made it? You see? I just hate the feeling that I am "wasting" my supply of eggs.. especially when I dont have that many left. I'm only 33.. I dont want to deplete my supply too early. (Im probably not making any sense.)

I guess I just have to wait and see... if FP will rear her head tomorrow. :(

LexieJean · 02/08/2018 18:08

@pink do you mean you’re worried about them over stimulating you and getting a few eggs and then wasting the ones they don’t implant? The info I’ve had through ABC ivf is that they’ll freeze any fertilised eggs as well. So they’re not wasted.

The cheapest private ivf I found was ABC- they do a package if you qualify but how low is your amh? They also offer different services for low amh and only a few eggs are collected each cycle. Not sure about 💰 though.

Hi @looking 👋 glad to hear you’re progressing well, I hope the next 6 months go smoothly too!

Owlpatrol · 02/08/2018 19:32

@LookingAtTheStars89 hey chick I am going to catch up on your posts
Been crazy at work busy and at home we have decorated the spare room (would be nursery Sad ) in a neutral grey and getting new carpets so that's kept me entertained. We've dtd once so far this week and I'm just starting fw currently cycke day 13 so expecting to ovulate around now. So fingers crossed! Had an awful baby bomb yesterday by a girl I used to work with, I swear she's been with the bloke 10 minutes Sad other than that I've been really good this diet is working and lost about half a stone in a month Smile anything to distract me from baby not happening right now xx

Owlpatrol · 02/08/2018 19:41

@Pinkemi awww hun sending massive hugs I'm in the same boat as you but my dh still won't go for his sperm analysis, I know most people are probably thinking just push him but he's a very fragile person (not weak, just emotional) so takes it very personally so I'm coaxing him into it plus trying to dtd every other day where possible to prove where we have done everything we can. I feel the same about going abroad and honestly I don't think IVF is for me anyway which is odd considering my first sentence. I just want to be pregnant naturally, normally we can't afford IVF and won't qualify on the nhs xx

Fizzy13 · 03/08/2018 09:58

Hello all,
I popped in 6 months ago to say hi and now I'm back. Over a year ttc and a miscarriage last October.
I did have a little ttc group via my 3yr olds antenatal group but they've all gone and got pregnant so I need some more buddies to complain at.
AF today so naturally I'm ridiculously hormonal, in pain and blaming myself for running out of patience with my son, being a bad mum as I haven't managed to make him a sibling etc etc.
Poor dh doesn't know what to do with me when I'm this illogical!
It's nice to know I'm not the only one

Chooklass · 03/08/2018 11:40

Welcome back @Fizzy13 ! Treat yourself to something nice today! FP day has turned into my treat day - helps me feel less gloomy x

Pinkemi · 03/08/2018 12:08

@LexieJean Yeah I guess im worried they will collect too many eggs in one go.. I dunno. Im trying to get my head round the idea of IVF as Im beginning to feel like its our only option! My Amh is 3.3.. so not really low.. but apparently very low for my age group.

@Owlpatrol Well done on the weight loss! I'm bag on the wagon this week (or at least trying as much as I can.) And i agree with you about IVF.. I really want to just get pregnant naturally... just.. dunno if its going to happen.

@Fizzy13 welcome back!

So its FP due day today.. just did my cervix checks and its still way up there. But.. my BBT Temp dropped again today and my resting heart rate has dropped too.. so im pretty sure she is on her way. Plus i burst into tears last night just out of the blue! (I mean i have a lot going on at the moment which could be the reason why for the tears.. but im convinced its FP on her way.)

Meh.. meh meh meh. lol

Owlpatrol · 03/08/2018 12:38

@Pinkemi awww love big glass of vino this weekend then!

Booksandbaths1 · 04/08/2018 18:33

Hi all, hope weekends are going well. I've been away with my DH's fam and had to endure his dad making comments about when we're going to have a baby on the same day FP arrived (2 days late which had totally got my hopes up, I was gutted). DH's brother and sis both have kids and they don't understand why we haven't. Meh I just want to give ivf a go now as I've lost all hope of managing naturally now after 14 cycles and not a hint of bfp. Feeling hacked off and glum. Pass me the feckin wine.

Booksandbaths1 · 04/08/2018 18:45

Ugh even more depressed now... had a look at abc ivf and they want your amh to be 21pmol or above. But they'll consider you if it's over 12. Mine is 5! Not even anywhere close 😢

LexieJean · 04/08/2018 22:46

Cheers @books 🥂 I’m away for a few days so enjoying wine and coffee. And cheese. Sod this TTC malarkey. I’m at 30 something cycles. It’s too depressing to keep counting.

Concerned about what you’ve said about ABC ivf- my amh is 8 and they’ve accepted us 😳

Booksandbaths1 · 05/08/2018 10:19

Ah nice @LexieJean - enjoy the time away and all those tasty treats 😀 Can you do an nhs cycle through abc? Maybe I'll get in touch with them. I live in the south west so not ideal location but v good prices. We may consider trying abroad for non nhs cycles as a way to keep the costs down. Our ccg only allows 1 ivf cycle per couple.

Si1ver · 05/08/2018 15:13

@Pinkemi I also have low AMH and I went abroad for IVF. It was hugely more affordable than the UK (£2.1k +£550 for drugs, then flights and accommodation)

I have two frozen embryos left with the clinic and I'm 15 weeks today. Let me know if you want any more details.

Si1ver · 05/08/2018 15:14

And @Booksandbaths1 when I say low, my AMH was 2.4.

Booksandbaths1 · 05/08/2018 19:36

@Si1ver thank you - that's so encouraging to hear. Congrats too! Was your amh measured in pmol or ng/ml? That sounds like waaaay better value than my local ivf clinic (£6-7k). I'd definitely be interested in hearing where you went/how you found the process. Was it your first cycle?

Si1ver · 05/08/2018 20:35

@Booksandbaths1 thanks for the congrats.

I think it was pmol, but I'd need to check to be 100%.

We went to Reprofit in the Czech Republic, Brno. They were fab. We filled in an online questionnaire with all our test results, they sent us a suggested protocol and we decided to go for it. So they sent us a prescription which we filled with an online (UK) pharmacy we had used before for blood tests and they sent us the drugs. It turns out the pharmacy partner with the clinic, which no one had told us, which is why the drugs were so much cheaper than buying elsewhere.

I had a private endometrial scratch the month before treatment, which cost me £150. But that was my personal choice.

Once we started treatment I needed a couple of private scans which cost about £100 each and then phoned the clinic with the results which enables them to adjust the protocol. Then we flew the Brno and transferred to the clinics care. They were awesome. We were there for ten days, so included a holiday. They do ICSI as standard, included in the above cost as is testing and freezing any left over embryos. Maintaining our frozen embryos will cost us €90 a year from next year.

Their stats for success are much better than UK clinics and the costs for further FET treatment is really low. Let me know if you have any other questions x

Si1ver · 05/08/2018 20:38

Oh and yes, first cycle.

While I remember - they collected 6 eggs, 5 were mature and they managed to fertilize them all. All made it to day 3 which is amazing and then the best quality one was transferred on day five. Two more we're considered good enough to freeze and the last two would have been good transfer of they'd been all we had, but wouldn't have coped with freezing and defrosting and so were discarded.
