CALLING ALL YAMMER'S!

Yammer rules:

A safe place for those of you who have been trying to conceive for 6+ months and even yams aren’t helping. Come and have a good ol’ bitch and a moan without judgement. Please read the rules before posting!

The Yam Commandments are as follows;

  • Thou shalt not arrive one day and post BFP next day
  • Thou shalt not give advice to others when TTC for one month only
  • Thou shalt not participate in one-up-manship and realise TTC is shit for everyone in different ways
  • Thou shall allow posters to be fucked off with the world and everything in it at regular points in the month
  • Thou shalt not be offended by strong language
  • Thou shalt not tell everyone to eat yams
  • Thou shall accept being called a muppet for testing at 7dpo at 9pm at night

And most importantly...

  • Thou shalt not symptom spot during the two week wait and must be prepared for a telling off if you do so.

NEW RULE ALERT!

-Thou shalt not post pictures of positive pregnancy tests. We will be delighted to hear about it but no photos, please and thank you

@Booksandbaths1 It was recommended at my first appt at fertility clinic (after referral there by NHS GP). Seems like HSG or Hycosy are fairly standard procedures during fertility investigations so worth you querying why you haven't been offered? There are lots of stories of women getting pregnant after their tubes getting a spring clean (even the nurse said it!), which makes this 2ww all the more agonising!

Chooklass · 17/07/2018 13:17

@LookingAtTheStars89 Hope your scan goes well today!!

Chooklass · 17/07/2018 13:20

@Owlpatrol What is it with blokes and sperm tests?!?! My DP whinged a lot less about it after being in room during one of my internal procedures. Think he suddenly realised how lucky he was that he only had to wank in a pot 😂.

Angelmiracle · 17/07/2018 14:41

Hi ladies just wanted to let you know we've been trying since DS who is 5. I have PCOS too. With gynae in March internal ultrasound looked good good. Had HSG in May and tubes all clear as per the radiologist. I haven't been back to gynae because they messed up DH SA appointment and we are still waiting for it to come through...
Very heavy painful AF last month assumed because of hsg. Well I'm 10dpo and got a faint pink line on FRER this morning!!
Can't believe it really thought we'd have to go much further after 5 years trying. I thought I'd let you all know. Have hope and don't give up!!!💕

Chooklass · 17/07/2018 15:04

Congratulations @Angelmiracle ! I love hearing positive stories like yours. Hope your pregnancy is trouble-free. 😊

Angelmiracle · 17/07/2018 17:07

@Chooklass Thank you so much x Really hope HSG does it for you 🤞

Pinkemi · 17/07/2018 17:23

@Angelmiracle congrats! The more i read... the more I think i should have my tubes cleaned.. just in case. lol

just failed miserably again with cutting down on carbs and sugar. Why is this so hard?! :-(

Chooklass · 17/07/2018 17:34

Don't beat yourself up @Pinkemi ! It's bloody hard and impossible to do it all the time. Enjoy the chocolate then jump back on the wagon 😊

Read a book about hormone imbalances recently (when I started learning how to fix my pcos) which talked about how will-power means nothing when your hormones are out of whack. Made me feel a lot better! So I focus on balancing my blood sugar more than anything else, eg if I'm going to have sugar/ carbs, I try and have protein too, or go for a walk or cycle, as that slows down/ burns the sugar rush.

LookingAtTheStars89 · 17/07/2018 18:03

Hi ladies :-) just to update you that the scan was fine. Thank God.

@Pinkemi. Giving up sugar was literally one of the hardest things I ever did and I'm not even being melodramatic! If you really want to do it, just take each day at a time and remember that the first three days are the hardest. After a week I felt it was a lot easier not to have the sugar. Don't punish yourself if you slip up, if you don't feel ready to eliminate just yet then try cutting right down. I have worked sugar back into my diet for now - mainly because I'm eating bugger all lol bit I always read the traffic light label and stick to like one kit Kat or something :-)

LookingAtTheStars89 · 17/07/2018 18:04

@Chooklass. I find that if you have a small bit and balance it pit then you don't get the sugar rush. I used to get really bad sugar rushes where I had palpatations and all sorts!

Angelmiracle · 17/07/2018 18:20

@Pinkemi Thank you! Don't be so hard on yourself. I have been to more nutritionists etc trying to massively reduce carbs and sugar but it all eventually was too hard long term. SW was much easier and I made sure to have plenty of fresh cooked food fruit veg meat and just a little of the sweet stuff. And look at what I got today! But truly I think what prevented me the most was really high levels of stress and this is what I have worked on reducing a lot more than pressuring myself about my weight!
Good luck 🤞

BGDino · 18/07/2018 05:25

Quick update: I start 7 days of progesterone today, followed by a blood test next Thursday to see when I’ll start letrozole. Then tests to monitor for ovulation. Which is hopefully followed by sexy time followed by a BFP... [all crossables crossed]

LexieJean · 18/07/2018 08:59

Hey ladies!

You’ve all inspired me to try to reduce my sugar intake. Not entirely sure where to even start. Which diet/guidelines are you following? How do I do this?! 😳
Fw week over and we’re both exhausted emotionally and physically. Had some serious chats with OH following my ‘last chance before 36’ meltdown which was really good. The chats not the meltdown.

@dino sounds like a serious timetable you’ve got there- crossing crossables for you!

Glad to hear you’re both well @looking

@books I thought it was standard to have an HSG or HyCoSy as a start of fertility investigations- mostly to rule out tube problems. I would defo chase this up.

Hiya @chooklass 👋 sorry to see you back here (in the nicest possible way!) and hope the break did you some good.

Pinkemi · 18/07/2018 11:57

@lexiejean I am trying to follow the principles of Michael Mosely's "blood sugar diet." Its basically following a Mediterranean style diet with a dramatic cut in carbs. At the moment I am trying to stay under 100g of carbs a day.. its pretty hard.

I just have to keep reminding myself I guess that as soon as my BMI is below 30.. I can have tests done and get the ball rolling!

Chooklass · 18/07/2018 13:28

Hey @LexieJean - don't know how healthy your diet is already - might be easier to start gradually as going cold turkey on sugar is tough for first 3/ 4 days and you're more likely to stick to it if you start slowly, I think.

There are lots of books/ blogs about blood sugar diets, low GI diets and paleo diets which are all low sugar and quite similar. I kind of skip between those diets! My spotty forehead cleared up within a week - that was the most striking benefit for me! Now everyone knows if I've been cheating as the evidence is on my face 😂. I have only lost 8lb in 4 months but BMI back to 25 so I'm not too worried about the weight loss aspect. I'm focussing on balancing my hormones. X

nearlysummer2018 · 19/07/2018 00:34

@LookingAtTheStars89 you'll want to stop kit kats ASAP now you're having a baby. Also cut out dairy so the baby is dairy free for the first two years at least x

Chooklass · 19/07/2018 05:32

Hope that's a joke @nearlysummer2018 😂

LexieJean · 19/07/2018 08:39

Thanks for the tips @pink and @chook I always think I’m healthier than I am because I eat fresh foods like homemade dinners and lots of veggies but am also fond of an afternoon sugary snack and don’t eat much fruit. I don’t need to loose weight so don’t want to cut down my carbs too much but they’re so linked to sugar! I have a fast metabolism so I’m always hungry. I shall do some online research at the weekend. I like the idea of my spots clearing up!

Chooklass · 19/07/2018 09:38

Protein will be your best friend @LexieJean ! If I eat plenty protein my sugar cravings are almost non-existent. Worth remembering that low blood sugar is not good either - I find it much easier to avoid sugar if I don't let myself get starving hungry.

LookingAtTheStars89 · 19/07/2018 09:45

@Chooklass. 😂 I hope so too and it's one of the very few things I can keep down!

Hi all

I am late coming back to the thread. Been busy but also feeling down about ttc and things and retreated into myself a bit. Have had my first proper baby bomb since the failed ivf cycle Sad To add to that can feel FP on the way had cramping for days now and fed wish it would just get on with it.

@Pinkemi
I had the same issue as you with my employers aside from not being very understanding, i knew the moment i said ivf it would be round the office.

So with great difficulty i got around things by booking holiday in blocks once i had my dates. The nurse will give you a kind of scedule which is your protocol plan and outline of dates. This can change at any point though as it all depends how you respond to the drugs. I was very lucky in that i managed to keep on scedule .

I told them i was having a procedure done that was personal and hinted towards "gyne" issues. My doctor also followed up with a sick note saying "gyne procedure" to protect my privacy.

As for the other question regarding tubes as far as im aware i dont think they can see if blocked via ultrasound. I have had many ultrasounds before and after laps. I had been told some years back mine are clear after having lap although unsure myself how they can know this without doing some sort of specific test for that? Hope i have been some help and sorry i took so long to come back to you. Xx

BGDino
Im sorry to read of your grandfather being so ill and hope he is making a good recovery.

Also sorry about the trouble with your clinic how frustrating. I hope the new scedule works well for you Smile

Your not a bad friend at all for feeling you cant manage to see your friends new baby at the moment. Its just a very hard time for you .

Hello @Lexie ,Limplettice and booksandbaths i hope meeting your friend the other day went well.

Congratulations to Angel and lookingatthestars glad your scan went well .

Hope everyone else is doing ok today
Xxx

LexieJean · 19/07/2018 13:40

That’s what my acupuncturist says too @chook!

OrcinusOrca · 19/07/2018 19:18

Hey all. I have been so rubbish not being on here and keeping up with you all.

Well done to everyone who's cut out sugar! How much are we talking, the full lot? I am such a sugar fiend, not sure I could do it. Maybe I'll have to, would be good to know what kind of things you are cutting out. Is it just processed sugar etc.

I have an ultrasound tomorrow and I'm really worried. Not got a GP appt for results until a week on Weds. feel so stressed and anxious. Having an absolutely terrible week at work too. Just want to fast forward Sad

LexieJean · 19/07/2018 21:14

Baby bombs suck @herewegoagain I find them a horrible mixture- if they’re friends then I’m happy for them but a bit sad then guilty because I’m sad! 🙄

I’m sure you’ll be fine tomorrow @orca try not to worry. 💐

nearlysummer2018 · 19/07/2018 22:29

@Chooklass @LookingAtTheStars89 I wasn't joking. Kit kats are nestle product and therefore under the boycott! Dairy free is the way to go too as there's no need to ever give a baby dairy products till they're old enough to make that choice. You can use milk alternatives from 2yrs safely.
