Not sure if it is a certain person/group of people who start these threads but hadn't seen the June bus rolling round yet so here goes...

@hidcat thanks for replying. I think I'll book an appointment for 2 wks time. If I miraculously am pregnant this cycle it will give me enough time to cancel it!

LittleGoose · 21/05/2018 19:15

Jumping on the bus!

Age: 28
TTC: #1
Cycle: 1 (previous trying last year but was made redundant in December so we took a break!)
Usual cycle length: 28 days, although last one was 25 and one before was 31... Think it knew we were ready to try.
AF/BFP due: 8th June

jeanzbeanz · 21/05/2018 19:25

Welcome :)

sailorcherrie · 21/05/2018 19:46

@jeanzbeanz

Hit the wee graph icon to the left of the temp input and you get a wee temp curve 😊

I'm jumping on. CD2, this is cycle #3.

Eating Brazil nuts and drinking grapefruit juice like a mad woman. Also temping and doing OPKs.

jeanzbeanz · 21/05/2018 21:49

@sailorcherrie I don't have that icon! Maybe because I haven't recorded any recent temps? I'm definitely going to start though. Thanks so much for replying!

jeanzbeanz · 21/05/2018 21:50

@justliketheysaid And what are Brazil nuts and grapefruit juice supposed to do for you?! First time I've heard of this one!

Wondering about trying OPKs too for the first time.

JustLikeTheySaid · 22/05/2018 07:12

@jeanzbeanz Brazil nuts are supposedly good for egg development (something about selenium) and grapefruit is good for the EWCM.

Grapefruit juice is horribly bitter to my taste so I am struggling to drink it but I'm trying for one portion a day! Im diluting it with water. And 5 Brazil nuts.

WhitleyBae · 22/05/2018 07:36

@JustLikeTheySaid wow they're both new ones to me too - will add that to the raspberry leaf tea and pineapple!

JustLikeTheySaid · 22/05/2018 07:46

Are you only eating pineapple after ovulation? That seems to be what I've read so I think I am going to do that. Something about making EWCM too acidic for sperm if eaten before?

Brazil nuts are much nicer when dunked in nutella by the way!!

Sictransitgloria · 22/05/2018 20:24

Hello. Finally feeling ready to get back on this ttc bus after mc in Nov.

Age: 30
TTC #1
First cycle, once again.

Good luck lovely ladies. Brazil nuts dipped in nutella sounds like a bloody fantastic idea!

sailorcherrie · 22/05/2018 21:08

Gave in and had a mini TTC tantrum/stress out this evening to DH (who is currently stuck in Bristol airport and won't be home till 1.30am!)

In a total strop I did another OPK tonight and low and behold!!! The elusive static smiley!!! πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰

So maybe I missed it completely last month being a 7am daily tester!

You'd think it was a proper BFP the was I just FaceTimed hubby 🀣

WhitleyBae · 22/05/2018 21:26

To be honest @JustLikeTheySaid, I hadn't thought that far - she said pineapple and I bought one. Now I've read it's better to wait. Only on cd3 now so no harm!

Pretty sure they sell chocolate dipped Brazil nuts in the shop at work and I ate two spoonfuls of Nutella straight from the jar tonight, that's the same... right?

Welcome @Sictransitgloria a I'm pretty much the same, mc in Sept but have been trying properly a couple of months now. Also LOVE the name, didn't anticipate many brand new fans here on mumsnet Grin

Sictransitgloria · 22/05/2018 22:09

Hi @WhitleyBae - yup, the song reminds me of those angsty teenage/early 20s years! Lots of good memories though! Mumsnet is full of surprises ay Hmm

Sorry you are in the same boat, fingers crossed you get your bfp soon Flowers

TheOneWithTheBaby · 23/05/2018 05:50

I find reading this thread so educating! I knew there was a temperature increase after ovulation, but I didn't realise there was a dip first?

I have also started using OPKs now. I find them quite daffy somehow. My tests said to let the sample cool down to room temp-10 mins. Then test. Then let it rest again for a bit to see results. Is everyone doing it like that? Feels like it takes almost hal an hour with setting alarms, back to the bathroom to check and so on. With work commitments I'm doing them in the evening now, not sure that's the best time?

TheOneWithTheBaby · 23/05/2018 05:55

Also, can I just check about OPKs? I'm using the cheap ones from the internet. When the second line is the same colour, does that mean I have ovulated or does it mean I'm about to? So far I've only ever had one line anyway, so just wondering. I know for temp the increases comes after ovulation rather than before.

HidCat · 23/05/2018 07:03

@TheOneWithTheBaby best to avoid early morning urine. If they're the One Step ones you should do them between 10am and 8pm. The test line needs to be as dark as the control line and that means you're probably about to ovulate 12 - 36 hours later. You can have a surge and not ovulate but if you have regular cycles that's less likely to be a problem.

JustLikeTheySaid · 23/05/2018 07:33

When I used the cheap internet ones the ovulation line was VERY clear and much darker than the control line.

I had a few days of it being lighter than, then two days of them being the same and I thought I must be ovulating, but then the day after that it was obviously very very dark.

Still didn't get pregnant though....

I'm now using the clearblue sticks that plug into the reader. They're good. I'm doing them with morning urine - I wouldn't remember to do them at the same time any other day

WhitleyBae · 23/05/2018 15:01

@JustLikeTheySaid @Sictransitgloria these should get me through a few days 😏

Toot toot! June Bus!
JustLikeTheySaid · 23/05/2018 15:47

Haha! I need a big bag! And ones pre-dunked in chocolate!!!

TheOneWithTheBaby · 23/05/2018 19:42

@Justlike, thanks for the advice! Glad to hear the lines were quite obvious. With pregnancy tests it often seems a guessing game and squinting, so I'm glad OPKs aren't the same.

JustLikeTheySaid · 23/05/2018 20:27

It definitely was really obvious eventually. In fact I think I have some photos... if this works you can see the difference...

I gave up with OPKs this month after CD17 and still no surge but then on CD 21 (Monday) I had loads of EWCM. I guess my cycle might be a bit longer because of my mc back in March.
I can't believe I'm back on this waiting game. It's been over a year, we tried for four years to get my son who is now 2. The only thing keeping me going is how worth the wait it was to meet that little boy.
Let's make it rain with BFPs this month, yeah?

Spottyyellowdress · 24/05/2018 20:32

I’ve not had a positive opk yet either - usually ov around cd 17 and I’m 19 now...though Fertility friend has told me I already ovulated due to my temps! Usually know exactly when it happened because I have super sore boobs the day after but nothing yet!

FrowningFlamingo · 24/05/2018 21:49

Not sure if I should post here or may bus really...
I assume here as AF due 4th June.
But... today there is a definite pink tinge to my discharge (sorry if tmi!) is there any chance this could be implantation?? CD16...
or just a disappointing early period?!

Hi to any old faces, I've taken a little break from the boards as finding it tough atm.
