Two lines on an ovulation test? Could it indicate Pregnancy

Hi,

I’m getting a lot of symptoms that could be related to pregnancy including some blood on the tissue when I wiped two days ago! I took an opk today as I heard it can show if somebody is pregnant (it’s all I had , didn’t have a pregnancy test to hand) it came up with two lines ... what does that mean?

It can indicate pregnancy as HCG and LH are similar chemicals. But OPKs are designed to detect high levels of LH and pregnancy tests to detect low levels of HCG. So if you get a positive OPK due to pregnancy you’d probably be quite pregnant (ie you’d be late etc).
Additionally two lines is not necessarily a positive OPK (that’s only when the test line is sufficiently dark) and it is normal to have some level of LH in your pee at different points in your cycle, which would cause two lines but not a positive OPK.
Your symptoms could be ovulation or you could be having pms , or you could be pregnant but based on what you’ve said it is impossible to know.

If it’s positive then yes. If it’s just a line then no. We almost always have some LH Sim our system so will get some form of line on an opk all through our cycle

I did! I wasn't sure if I was ovulating or due period as I'd had some niggly pains and couldn't remember when my last period was.
I did both a ovulation test and pregnancy test and got 2 lines on each of them!
(I was about 5 weeks pregnant)

I found out I was pregnant from a clear blue fertility monitor. It came up as fertile despite my period being due. Cue a sleepless night for me before I could confirm with a pregnancy test!

My ovulation tests almost always show two lines. If the second line is at least as dark as the control line then it's positive and could indicate a pregnancy.

If the second line is fainter then it's negative and you are neighter ovulating nor pregnant.

All of that said, some women do get a positive opk in the days before af is due and are not pregnant. I've seen that on this board often enough over the past few years.

Best advice is to use opks for ovulation and pregnancy tests for pregnancy.

Out of interest rose were the two lines as dark as each other or was the control line darker?

I had this and AF turned up the next day. I posted on here about it and was surprised that a positive OPK can show up just before your period as something to do with the hormones. Hope this is not the case for you

Thanks rose! Ive had an almost positive OPK, faint positive pregnancy test in the past two days and an MIA AF, so I’m curious!

And considering my period was due that day I thought it a strange coincidence Grin

This was my second pregnancy and it was an OPK that I ‘tested’ with when I had my first son too and a strong second line was what led me to buying a HPT where I got my BFP.

I took an opk test a few days ago as my period was late by two days. Just out of interest. It looked exactly like the one that Rose just posted. My period showed up two days later

Maybe the surge in hormones whether period is due or pregnant will show a positive result.. either way mine got darker and got a positive opk before test x

Hi ya how do I add pic on here sumbody saying my ovulation test isn’t positive but when I done it yesterday only had 1 line this morning I git 2 not feeling myself feeling really tired sick in morning I never took ovulation test before

I tested with an LH strip this month just for fun, started getting more 'surgy' on the LH strip from 8 dpo.

9 dpo it was stronger and I got a faint positive on an hcg test.

Then 10 dpo showed an LH surge but got my BFP on digital pregnancy test.

So it can work, but obviously use a pregnancy test to confirm.

I have been Extremely tired and have had two light periods, but my boobies are killing me! I took an ovulation test today out of curiosity, and it came out with both lines the same color and size. I’ll post a pic. Helping responses would be Great 😊

I know this is an oldish thread but just wondered if anyone had any ideas that would help, I'm about 10dpo, had a blazing positive opk this morning and what looks like an indent on an ic, been stung by so many evaps and indents though, is this looking hopeful? 🙈

Could someone give me some advice, I came off the microgynon pill 3 weeks ago, had my withdrawal bleed 4 days after and now I’m feeling cramping pains for the last 2 days, feeling sick and really tired. I’ve done a test which was negative but I presume it’s too early anyway. Just done an ovulation test and it’s got 2 lines on it. Can anyone help me, I’ve googled it but finding different answers
