Hey long cyclers, another long cycler here (CD104) how's everyone doing?

Just been diagnosed with pcos & awaiting apt at fertility clinic. Anyone else with pcos? I know that's one of the main reasons people can have long/irregular cycles.

Haven't backread all the way, sorry, but best of luck with your gp apt @thisisyourfx18 is it your first apt?

Aph413 · 07/06/2018 19:59

No positive opks yet and I've been doing 3 or 4 a day.
Wow tinyradish 104 days? How long have your cycles been like that? My longest was 81 and that drove me crazy. I don't have a diagnosis of anything so far but I've only been trying 9 months.

tinyradish · 07/06/2018 20:09

What CD are you aph?

Only 9 months here too but with such long cycles knew something was wrong so went to the GP pretty quickly & luckily had someone who listened so can't complain really. Don't know what happens next though.

81 is very long & completely understand how fustrating it is!

Aph413 · 07/06/2018 20:42

3rd attempt at this post. Stupid internet connection.
CD31 right now. I've been using ovusense to track my temp and opks. Once I worked out my average cycle length I was able to track ovulation and did get my BFP last month. That ended in an early miscarriage but I at least know I'm ovulating and can get pregnant now.
I've not been to the gp yet about cycle length because I'm overweight and I know they'll tell me to lose weight first.

Have you had any blood tests done yet or are they done at the fertility clinic?

tinyradish · 07/06/2018 21:04

So so sorry about your miscarriage - can only imagine how heartbreaking that must be.

You're right - you know you're ovulating & can get pregnant. & you're doing all the right things to get there so you WILL get there :)

I had blood tests then an internal scan which confirmed pcos which had already been indicated from the blood test results, plus they found a dermoid cyst that needs to be removed. I'm lucky that I've been referred so quickly but it's because of all these things & the fact I'm not ovulating at all so they said they'd get the ball rolling now.

They might suggest losing weight but hopefully they will help in other ways too & at the very least do the basic tests.

Lilsquish · 07/06/2018 21:21

Hi ladies.

I posted a while back, sorry for disappearing.

Can i rejoin?

Cd2 after a 48 day cycle.

I went to gp yesterday to see if there was anything she could do to regulate and shorten my cycles. But no, all options involve hormones so no good for ttc.

Aph413 · 07/06/2018 21:25

Thank you tinyradish it hit me harder than I expected it to. I was so ready to be pregnant and I only managed 5 weeks. But it can't be helped and all I can do is try again, so I'm full of all the supplements I can think of to help my body and we'll see what happens next. Shorter cycles would be the best thing ever.

How old are you if you don't mind me asking?
It's good they've started the tests for you. Are they going to give you anything to induce your period?

tinyradish · 08/06/2018 10:43

Very very sad aph. Your time will come soon!

I'm 29, how about you? Not sure yet, gp didn't want to get too involved & is leaving it to the experts so will see in a few weeks what the plan is. Just counting down the days....

Aph413 · 08/06/2018 10:46

I'm 27 tinyradish so plenty of time really. It's just difficult when you're ready you want it right away even if it's not logical.
A bit annoyed with myself, forgot to put my ovusense in last night so it'll throw my chart off again.

thisisouryrfx18 · 08/06/2018 10:49

@tinyradish thanx yh first gp appt very nervous

Lilsquish · 09/06/2018 09:28

Are you going to gp about your cycles this or is it for investigations into fertility?

thisisouryrfx18 · 09/06/2018 10:58

@Lilsquish both really but mainly investigations its been goin on too long now and i need to know why and if theres anything they can give me to help. Im gettin more stressed out and depressed every month i get af..how r u gettin on x

Lilsquish · 09/06/2018 21:35

Aw sorry to hear that.

Im ok, just so frustraiting to have to wait so long between cycles.

If we were every 28 days it would be so much more manageable.

Iv just ordered 200 opks!

FlapJackered · 09/06/2018 22:19

That is so hard @Aph413 but a good sign your body can get pregnant. How are you doing this cycle - do you think you ovulated when your temps went up?

@tinyradish that sounds positive that they want to move forward, what is the next step for you? Do you have another appointment booked?

@Lilsquish have you tried inositol before? I am just starting to try that this time. Last cycle it was raspberry leaf tea, but that didn't seem to help. My sister's fertility expert said exercise is the key, so going to give that a whirl too even though it doesn't come naturally to me!

@thisisouryrfx18 Good luck for the appointment, fingers crossed it is something easily fixed.

I am on cd43 today, have been feeling sick for about a week and sore boobs (although I get that pre af anyway) but seeing as all bfn's and no real sign I ovulated this cycle I think it's wishful thinking.

Lilsquish · 10/06/2018 00:12

Aw '@flapped' i hope this is your month

Iv not tried anything to shorten my cycles at all. Spoke to doc about it and she said they couldnt give me anything. Im going to have a google tho!

I dont do exercise as such but i have dogs that i take for long walks and my job is quite physical. Also renovating a house just now so doing lots this month. Ha!

FlapJackered · 10/06/2018 07:42

@Lilsquish that sounds like a decent amount of exercise!

Ok natural cycles has now confirmed my ovulation after today's temp at 3 weeks ago?! Is that even possible does anyone know? Can you have a 3 week luteal phase?

Aph413 · 10/06/2018 10:39

lilsquish I ordered 200 opks for this cycle too. DH looked at me like I was crazy Grin
Flap I'm currently 11dpo according to ovusense but I'm not convinced. My cervix is only just getting high, almost where I can't reach it anymore. I'm taking 4 or 5 opks a day now since it's day 34 and I ovulated day 38 last time, also going for daily sex as long as we can manage it Wink.
I'd say if you were 3 weeks post ovulation you should have had a positive test recently. Mine was only really obvious 2 days after my missed period but I think I implanted really late and that's why I miscarried. What does your chart look like?

FlapJackered · 10/06/2018 11:04

I stopped taking opks after I got a solid smiley face with clearblue that first dip (I will keep testing them next time!)
I wonder if I have only just ovulated?
It is not a clear chart that's for sure but I am confused as I thought Natural cycles was meant to be pretty good with pinpointing ovulation?

Long cyclers we re the last ones standing in the tww and we re not taking it anymore guzzle down your grapefruit juice and pop those b6 pills..short cycle we re coming for you!
Aph413 · 10/06/2018 11:10

I looked at that and would have honestly said day 40 looked more likely for ovulation. Do you have pcos? I can't remember if you said.
What day was the positive opk?

FlapJackered · 10/06/2018 11:20

Me too! But then positive opk at cd19 and then natural cycles pinpointing then as ov? Not sure what to think/believe?
I don't have diagnosed PCOS but wondering if I do have it. I have very light periods and such irregular cycles it would make sense. I am having blood tests to investigate in about a months time so will see what happens!

Aph413 · 10/06/2018 11:38

That would make me wonder too. They say opks are no good for many people with pcos as you can get false positives. I always double check my digital with a cheap opk as I get many almost positives over a cycle but my only true positive was a digital and a test line darker than the control.
Keep temping I guess. If your temp keeps going up now I'd say definitely day 40

FlapJackered · 10/06/2018 12:01

I see - maybe it was a false positive. It was clearblue and went from nothing to a solid smiley which is peak but there was no flashing smiley which made me wonder at the time. Hmm, I suppose only time will tell!
Thanks @Aph413 it's good to have a second opinion, do feel like I am going crazy this cycle!
It's so frustrating isn't it, it sounds like you have got it right just Dtd everyday. I am just not sure DH and I can do that, I think 2/3 x a week is as much as we can handle and enjoy it. Will you test when you are 14dpo according to ovusense or wait until later?

Aph413 · 10/06/2018 12:34

I have no tests in the house to test until my period is late. Which isnt due for another 3 weeks.
It's so hard to know whats right when ttc. I honestly feel like I'm going crazy most cycles, I think this one will be worse because I know I can ovulate so I want to catch it again. I'm not normally one for sex more than 2/3x a week like you I'm just going to throw in an extra couple of times and hope it doesn't fall off Wink
As you said. Only time will tell for all of us. I just hope it's soon

FlapJackered · 10/06/2018 12:56

Yes fx'd!
That's very restrained of you, just out of interest how to you predict when af is due with long irregular cycles? I just don't have a clue, other than a guess from supposed ovulation.

Aph413 · 10/06/2018 13:23

I've got a rough average for cycle length. I started out testing 10 days from the start of my cycle and slowly lost heart thinking I wasn't ovulating.
Then last cycle I decided I'd start testing and checking 19 days before the shortest length cycle I'd had. This worked, I found my ovulation and I managed to dtd 4 days over ovulation. 2 before, the day of and the day after.
By doing opks I pinpointed ovulation and obviously then I know I've got a tww to get through, this cycle I'm working entirely on the assumption it'll be the same as last month. By doing what I said I should get it roughly right.

Hopefully that made sense Blush
