I've NC for this as a few people know who I am.

I stupidly had sex on the last day of my period without a condom. There was only a 'few pumps' (dunno how to say that any nicer) and he didn't actually come in me. (But I know you can get pg)

My period is now on day 33 of its cycle which is very unusual for me. I'm only 23 with no other problems in that area. The only other time I've been this late was when I've been stressed.

I've done 2 frers (the 7 day early ones) and they've both come back completely negative. Not even a hint of a line. I also had a tiny bit of blood mid cycle which never usually happens, so now I'm really stressed out.

I don't know what's going on with my body or even if this is the right place to post but I'm completely lost what to do. My head is a mess and I can't concentrate on anything. Can my body do this to me? Make me completely miss a period because I'm so stressed? AFAIK it can't. Help

I’m in a similar situation to you - I’m now 14 days late, negative tests etc. I was hugely stressed the days before I was actually due on and am wondering if that’s the root cause of this.

stressedoutsuzie · 04/04/2018 11:13

Thanks for replying Tink. Can your body do that? I thought it could only delay ovulation. I've had a bad last couple of weeks with stress/anxiety and I don't know if that's why. I really hope so as I don't want a baby!

Yes, stress can cause a completely missed period. It’s extremely rare to get pregnant just from pre-cum and even rarer to get pregnant while still on your period. Plus if you’re “late” and 2 frer’s have been negative then I would say you’re definitely not pregnant and the missed period is stress-related

Tink2007 · 04/04/2018 11:22

Stressedoutsuzie - I’ve been regular as clock work all my life - always 28-30 days. I can remember three instances where I have been longer than that. This is the longest by far (aside from when I was pregnant with my two DCs).

I’ve done more tests than I can count and each one is negative so it’s just a waiting game.

Bubblegum89 · 04/04/2018 11:27

Also just to add, you can ovulate late which would push your period back as generally speaking, the time between ovulation and menstruation is always 14 days and it’s the time between menstruation and ovulation that can vary. Since I started my periods at age 12, my cycles have been 28 days. Since I’ve been ttc, I’ve had two instances where my cycles were 34 and 32 days because I’ve ovulated later than usual for some reason. If your period is late and a first response is negative, it’s very unlikely you’re pregnant as they’re are very sensitive tests

stressedoutsuzie · 04/04/2018 12:33

Thanks for your replies Tink & Bubblegum. I feel a lot better now (though I'm sorry you're stuck in this limbo too Tink!)

I think the fact I'm stressing about possibly being pregnant is not helping me any further either, so I'm going to try and relax and forget about it (though it's easier said than done) and hopefully nature takes it's cause

OP posts:
Tink2007 · 04/04/2018 13:06

It’s awful. I don’t like limbo at all.

We also don’t want anymore DCs but I’m thinking being 14 days late and with so many negative tests that I’m definitely not pregnant.

Ahhhh! I really dislike Mother Nature sometimes!

Tink2007 · 04/04/2018 13:06

Thank you bubblegum - you’ve really helped. X

stressedoutsuzie · 04/04/2018 13:56

It's just the not having control and not knowing what's happening with my own body that's driving me insane.

I kind of convinced myself I MUST be pregnant, which probably isn't helping either.

I hope Mother Nature is kind to us!

Tink2007 · 04/04/2018 14:30

I don’t think I have ever wanted my period so much!

stressedoutsuzie · 04/04/2018 15:41

Same Tink. I've had the 'feeling' of it coming on since Sunday too Sad

OP posts:
Tink2007 · 05/04/2018 06:45

Me too! So I thought it was just a late one but here I am Thursday morning and on day 15 of lateness and still not come on. I actually thought I had started on Tuesday as there was some blood but that disappeared 😩

And still negative tests. I’m stressing out about not coming on now so I’m sure that’s making it worse.

stressedoutsuzie · 05/04/2018 09:21

I'm only on day 5 of lateness for me, so I can only imagine how frustrating it is.

I keep having really vivid dreams of getting a positive test, to the point it woke me up yesterday morning and I was so upset. My boyfriend thinks I'm nuts and keeps telling me that it's because I'm so stressed out - but it's easier to accept it from someone who has a womb!

I did another test 7am this morning and it's definitely still negative. I'm always looking at the "is there a line?!" Posts and mines not even close.

I just really want a period. So much

OP posts:
Tink2007 · 05/04/2018 09:37

I’ve had dreams about positive tests, actually coming on, the whole lot! It’s so frustrating and I know I am making it a hundred times worse!

I’ve told my husband no womb, no opinion even though I know he is right in saying I am just too stressed!

I am so grateful for this post - i am so happy for all the women getting their BFPs but I needed someone who was in the same boat as me to talk to.

stressedoutsuzie · 05/04/2018 10:08

People have noticed that I've been stressed out too, and yesterday someone actually asked me if I was pregnant(!)

Yeah it's nice to know there's someone out there going through the same hell as me, makes me feel less alone

Usually a couple of days after be 29/30 days which is my usual I wouldn't be so stressed, I think because I've had a few pregnancy symptoms - bit of blood mid cycle, feeling really sick some mornings, and being really tired. They've all come together and convinced me. I've never been pregnant before though, so I've no experience on what it's actually like.

Spending a fortune on tests too. Do you think after this long a cheap Poundland one would show positive if I was pregnant?

OP posts:
Tink2007 · 05/04/2018 10:17

I second the feeling less alone. It’s just a horrible feeling. Even after so many negatives I still can’t convince myself otherwise - and I have had two children already!

I’m usually 28 days but occasionally I will be 29/30 and very occasionally 26/27 days. So I never worry around that benchmark but this is the absolute longest I have ever gone.

I would think so - apparently the pink dye ones are the best ones and not the blue dye. I’ve always used superdrug as they have always been sensitive for me and I have done three of those and all been negative. Your HCG levels are supposed to double every 48 hours so I do think we would both be testing positive?

stressedoutsuzie · 05/04/2018 10:30

It's crazy how powerful your mind is in convincing yourself of something you've been shown so many times isn't actually a thing. The logical side of me knows I'm not, knows it's due to stress, but the other side is absolutely convinced, and probably making my situation worse.

I didn't know the levels doubled after 48 hours, if that's the case we would both be strong positives if we were pregnant now? Even so, I'm still going to go out and buy more... just to double check

OP posts:
Tink2007 · 05/04/2018 10:33

Yep. Ordered more off eBay on Bank holiday Monday 😂

dancingunicorns123 · 05/04/2018 10:35

I don't want to panick you more I just want to give the heads up that some people's positive lines don't come up for a couple of weeks! My friend was pregnant and was 2 weeks late before she got her faint positive!!

I just want to let you know as I don't want you to do a test now and it be negative then you come round a week later and it's positive and you'll be more disappointed.

Sorry if this didn't help I just thought I should let you know

Tink2007 · 05/04/2018 10:39

I know that too. Though with both my previous DCs I have tested positive on the day my AF was due.

stressedoutsuzie · 05/04/2018 10:49

I'm aware of negative tests too. Which probably isn't aiding my stress about this whole situation

OP posts:
stressedoutsuzie · 05/04/2018 15:09

I've just done another test. I'm going crazy. Still 100% negative though. What's going on 😩

OP posts:
Tink2007 · 05/04/2018 15:45

I done a superdrug one this morning and a strip one this afternoon. Still exactly the same.

Lower back pain and stomach cramps. So fed up now.

stressedoutsuzie · 05/04/2018 16:07

It's horrible. It's all consuming, I can't concentrate on anything else even when I'm trying to ignore it. I've got really bad cramps today, and I feel sick Sad

OP posts:
Tink2007 · 05/04/2018 16:11

It’s so consuming. It’s literally taking over my every thought. It’s completely irrational but not irrational at the same time.

We’ve always been of the attitude of a third happened, then that would be fine but this has made us realise that really isn’t the case.
